Excellent pub
Good service, nice people, and enough beer to try, also you can sit in the garden wich is very nice in the summer.

This restaurant deserves a much higher rating than it currently has. It is among the best tasting menus we had in several trips to London. The chef is both gifted and actively engages with diners to ensure they are having a great dining experience. As high end restaurants in downtown London go, the prices were more than fair for the quality received. Superb food, service and atmosphere.

Great food and matching wines and well explained though rather pricey. They also asked and took my allergies into account in a helpful and accommodating way.

Good food entertainingly served. Attentive staff and very pleasant surroundings. A little expensive but it is in London

We came to The Chancery to try the chef Yumi's six course tasting menu with matching wines, it was simply fantastic!
We were greeted by a pleasant lady who took us to our table and gave us our menus. She tended to our every need over the course of our dinner and even asked if we wanted to change any of the courses if they weren't to our taste. We really appreciated this as we don't like oysters and that was our first course after the amuse bouche. The waitress changed it to kimchi, cucumber and some lovely sauces, it was so different but tasty!
All the courses were unlike anything we've tried before. We were apprehensive about the onsen egg but were happy to have tried it as it was a pleasant surprise and unlike anything we've had before.
The matching wine package went perfectly with each course. The waitress had an impressive knowledge of them all.
The restaurant itself is modern and not too fancy; just the way I like it! The atmosphere is relaxed.
Over the moon we came all the way from Edinburgh to try The Chancery as it certainly didn't disappoint!
Unethical business approach
I came across this place on the Gourmet Society card and decided to book as it stated that it offered 25% off the full bill if you dine with the Gourmet Society card.
I booked about 6-7 day in advance so they had plenty of time to assess the reservation. On the day of the actual reservation I received a phone call from someone at the restaurant who stated that they are not part of the Gourmet Society and that they are in conversation with them to see why they are on their web site! He asked for my full name and card number so he could come back to me and tell me if it would be possible to use the discount. I thought that this was a bit strange and asked him why he needs to know my card number to tell me if I could use it. He said โWe are not member of the Gourmet Society, you seeโ!!!!
They were clearly listed on their web site. I guess that presents good advertisement for them given the fact that I only learnt of this place through the Gourmet Society web site.
AT about 2:00 pm on the day of my 6:30 pm reservation I received a voice mail from the so called owner of the restaurant to advise that he has now spoken with Gourmet Society and can confirm that they are not part of the scheme and as such would not be able to honour the discount. He was awfully sorry! Could I just give them a call to confirm that I still wanted to go or should they cancel the booking!
It is not about the discount in itself but more about their shady business practices. It is not about the clientโs fault that their dodgy establishment is on the Gourmet Society web site and they should have honoured the offer or at least propose something else! Given their dubious business model and the plethora of lovely restaurants in the City I would suggest that you cut your losses and head to the Bleeding Heart near Farringdon or the Rivington Grill in Shoreditch. I have no idea why would anyone want to dine in a place that applies such unethical business approach.
Apropos, they are still on the Gourmet Society site at this very moment.

This is a secret must ... Tables wide apart no one can hear your conversation. Such a relief ... we had lunch ... it was like a garden of colour on your plate and the food was excellent ....
Slightly lacking in atmosphere but probably better in the evening
Staff were lovely
Bravo
Fantastic food, wine and service
Went for supper last night and had the most fantastic meal with personal attention by all the chefs! Although I don't want to gush, I can't praise Yuma the Head Chef enough . We had a superb tasting menu . The quality was outstanding with locally sourced food - even in central London! The service was warm, and very friendly without being invasive. Can't wait to go back
Be the first to ReplyGood tasting menu and attentive staff
My partner and I had the Six Course Tasting Menu on a Saturday evening. The staff was nice, smiling and friendly, and the service was good. The restaurant was full but not too noisy โ pleasant atmosphere overall. The dishes were all delicious, filling and quite original, and the chef came to our table to explain us each of them, which was much appreciated.
