Tantris - not a Munich scene, but a PLEASURE!
The design is cult! The cuisine is very special! A play of flavours, a pleasure for all the senses! The service is wonderful: friendly, yet unobtrusive; intelligent and attentive; with a feel for each guest! Thank you for a wonderful meal in a relaxed, elegant atmosphere! A shared enthusiasm for good food! 3 and a half hours of the most wonderful time out! After planning to visit Tantris for years ;-) We would love to come back!
Be the first to ReplyNever again Tantris
Some indefinable flavors. Idle composition of the edible crab, bloody pigeon breast… overall unsatisfactory and not worthy of 2 stars. An expensive pleasure considering a sleepless night with at least 10 trips to the toilet
Be the first to ReplyNot the best but fun to eat there.
This was recommended buy a business partner. Who is a foodie. Im a foodie too but I try to value the food in terms of what you pay. The atmosphere was ok. Kinda ‘70 style with some east atmosphere. Maybe my memory is not that good. Anyway we paid 1,000 eur. Would I do it again? Yes. Was it totally worth it? Not really. Maybe my expectations where to high. Is it a once in a lifetime try yes.

As always, it was excellent and special. It is a pleasure, whether at lunch or in the evening. We love the time at Tantris.
Be the first to ReplyGastronomic highlights in Schwabing
Tantris has been synonymous with the culinary movement in Germany since 1971. With careful modernization, the Tantris Maison Culinaire has successfully brought its long-standing history into the future. Under its roof, it combines three unique concepts: the menu restaurant Tantris, the à la carte restaurant Tantris DNA and the bar Tantris - all located in Munich-Schwabing. The atmosphere in Tantris is incomparable, it exudes the aura of the extraordinary. The interior, selected with great care, preserves the excellent retro charm and brings it into harmony with modern elegance. The attention to detail is noticeable in every facet of the restaurant - from the stylish porcelain to the fine cutlery. From the moment you enter to the moment you leave, you as a guest are surrounded by exceptional care. The relationship between guest and service is remarkably balanced and testifies to the highest level of professionalism. Friendliness, competence and pleasant small talk permeate the entire experience and create an atmosphere that will make the visit a pleasant memory. The dishes themselves are all about gastronomic perfection. Each course is an explosion of flavors that celebrates the culinary craft and challenges the palate. The non-alcoholic wine accompaniment is particularly noteworthy, rounding off the gourmet experience in an elegant way and underscoring the standards of the establishment. All in all, the entire Tantris team deserves praise from the very highest level. This hospitality, coupled with such exquisite cuisine, makes it clear why a visit to Tantris Maison Culinaire is and remains an incomparable experience. One thing is certain: this was not the last visit to one of the defining establishments of the German gastronomy landscape.
Be the first to ReplyFine food, mediocre atmosphere
The food was nice, but the recommended wines varied despite the sky high prices in a la carte. Also the service was at times forced and lacked genuinity. Would not recommend the restaurant to couples wanting a warm atmosphere and a holistic experience not only in the form of food but also service. Definitely would not go back.
Be the first to ReplyValentine's Day
There is no better way to celebrate Valentine's Day. You will receive a warm welcome (private parking), an excellent aperitif, greetings from the kitchen, starters that are probably hard to find anywhere else better, great main courses, outstanding dessert. Plus excellent, unusual wines with great recommendations. Extremely friendly service staff. Take your time to enjoy it to the fullest!
Be the first to Replyunforgettable! great service and excellent menu and great wines
unforgettable! great service and excellent menu and great wines, 3 greetings from the kitchen - and a cake for my birthday at the end
Be the first to Replygreat - and has been for many years
combination of food, architecture, personnel still no1 in munich without doubt; great sommelier; modern french / international cuisine, best cellar in munich
Be the first to ReplyCHE ESPERIENZA
I had the opportunity to have a special dinner with my family at the TANTRIS It deserves the visit: good atmosphere, fantatic food and very exclusive wine list!
Be the first to ReplyGood, but not great - you feel the loss of Hans Haas.
We had great expectations given the 2 Michelin stars (recently 3 stars). The food was good but nothing exceptional, and no interesting combinations. The service was great until we reached dessert and they asked us to move to the bar because they needed start vacuuming and ironing for the dinner service (it was only 3:30pm). This was obviously disappointing given the price point and expectation of the service. There are other much better restaurants in Munich.
Be the first to Reply3 (Michelin) Star prices for a 1 (Michelin) Star culinary experience
After numerous visits to Tantis under Hans Haas’ era over the past 15 years, I was looking forward to experiencing the new era under Benjamin Chmura.
First impressions: Tantris has kept its incredible 70s charm, only tweaking the look and feel where necessary.
But Tantris is primarily all about the the food, secondary about the wine and finally about the service.
The service remains friendly, experienced, uncomplicated but with the expected level of professionality.
The wine accompaniment to the grand menu was very good. A knowledgeable sommelier and an interesting mix of wines. But very pricey (nearly €300 for the grand menu accompaniment is too much).
Which brings us to the food. My guests were uncomplicated but experienced multi-Michelin star customers. The general consensus can be summarized as follows.
Amuse Gueules: very boring and unexpired. Dry (mainly bread-based) and non-exciting, not the culinary explosion which usually enhances expectation for a great dinner.
First dishes (Langoustine, Scallops, Lobster) – Excellent, interesting, diverse. The only part of the evening that lived up to expectation.
“Mains” (Veal, Turbot, Lamb). Veal good, turbot forgettable, lamb (replacement for pigeon) quite possibly the worst dish ever experienced in a Michelin-star restaurant. Totally bland, unacceptably boring.
Desserts – 2 very similar chocolate desserts. Totally forgettable and far too similar.
Eating at any 2 or 3 star restaurant should leave you with a couple of memorable dishes that you recall for weeks. But Tantris 2022 left us totally underwhelmed. It was an enjoyable night at a legendary location, but asking 3-(Michelin) star prices (>600 per person) for a 1-(Michelin) star experience simply is not enough.
