I just have to start off by saying that this isn't the best
I just have to start off by saying that this isn't the best Indian cuisine I've tried in London; that being said, it's also not the worst. It really depends on what you order. They have just about everything you could want on both the drinks and food menu. The problem is that only a few of the items really stand out and make you feel like you're getting what you paid for. This restaurant also encourages sharing, so you may want to bring a friend or two to get the most out of your experience. I only tried 2 of the cocktails, and while they didn't taste bad, there was something missing in both of them. If you like a good Old Fashioned, however, they have a Ghee-Washed Old Fashioned with fig liqueur that went down smoother than most I've had. Wine is also available by the glass or bottle. The food menu is almost panic-inducing with how many options there are. You can either go for one of their fixed menus where you get to choose one of a few items as a starter, a main, and dessert. Or, you can opt for the ร La Carte and enjoy a bit more variety. Most of the things my friend and I ordered were pretty good, but nothing enormously special. Most things were either too spicy - mind you, we both like our spicy foods, so this was a bit much - or just underwhelming, like the Venison Kebabs that lacked a balance in flavor. The best thing I had was the spiced broccoli. As weird as it sounds, I've rarely tasted such a crispy and satisfying vegetable. The space itself has its own charm. It's part restaurant, part kitchen. So, if you like to watch your food being made, you're in for a treat. If not, you'll most likely find this place distracting.

Delicious one Michelin star experience! The food here was fantastic, the drinks were creative and delicious, and the service was great. My spouse is Indian and we were both pleasantly surprised with how delicious and authentic the cuisine was, I guess to be expected from a one Michelin star restaurant! We especially loved the cocktails. One of the cocktails we ordered was fat washed with ghee which lent the drink an incredibly complex flavor profile. We will definitely be back next time we're in London.

Believe the hype- we went for a la carte options to meet our tastes and everything arrived when ready. All the dishes have a fresh cooked taste that's hard to replicate at the average high street curry house. The grill items have subtle flavor from the tandoor, notes of real Indian spices that you can actually taste individually. The lamb chops with pistachios and sea bass were two of our favorites and don't even think of missing out on the award-winning chaat. We loved the ceremony of the Biryani having its pastry crust cut off at the table.Surprisingly good value for how full we were. ยฃ80/pp with drinks and tip

If you enjoy Indian food go for the gourmet menu (must be shared by at least 2 people) and price is charged per person. Completely worth it. The flavor of each dish is unque and full of spices. This is one of the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. Reservations is an absolute must and most people dress up. When you first walk in, check in with the receptionist which is downstairs. The restaurant itself is upstairs. The staff is helpful and they are very efficient. The drinks are good as well but the food is off the chart.

No doubt one of our favorites Amazing in so many ways Food is impeccable Ambiance is big enough to have a "buzz" but small enough to still be romantic Service is smooth and well coordinated Tasting menu is a wonderful approach Look forward to returning often

While visiting London this was by far the best restaurant I ate at. The small plates concept was wonderful to try so many unique dishes. I loved absolutely everything! The service was impeccable and I savored every bite of each dish. It was such an exciting and delicious dining experience and I am still thinking about it weeks later!
Be the first to ReplyThis is the best Indian food that I have experienced.
It is very popular and you walk upstairs to where the dining room is located. It is very popular and I would highly recommend getting reservations. They have many excellent dining options and I decided to get the chef's menu so I could try different food. Absolutely everything I tried was fantastic with wonderful flavors and the textures and presentation was outstanding. It feels like you are in someone's home upstairs where they also have a small but impressive bar. I felt the prices were fair for such outstanding food, ambience and service which was excellent and friendly. I look forward to visiting again.

We have been talking about our experience at Tamarind for three days. Amazing. Our server Gavin took charge and ordered for us. From the wine to the Indian street food to the sea bass to the lobster. Every bite was truly fantastic. Thank you again Gavin. Well done!

They have a dish here that's basically General Tso's lobster and dammit if it's not delicious. You're gonna want 4 of those.

Reception staff led by Anna Lisa hangs up on guests, yells at them to go away as she does Not need customers who are not wearing suit jackets and refuses to do takeaways despite it being offered on their website and Google. If you happen to be posh enough for the ladies at the front desk (I was wearing polo, jeans and dress shoes) then maybe it's good but this is the type of UK elitist place that makes me proud to be an American from Silicon Valley and not a Middle East or Russian elitist which they prefer.

Be the first to ReplyBeautiful modern Indian restaurant in Mayfair.
Decor and atmosphere is very chic and modern. Spacious tables and setting. I was pleasantly greeted by the beautiful host and seated right away. I tried the crab cakes, butter chicken with garlic naan and the gulab jamun with kheer. Everything absolutely delicious and stunning. My server was very attentive and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

My favorite Indian restaurant in London! I found out about this place via Michelin Guide, and after some research, I discovered it was the first Michelin starred Indian restaurant in the U.K. Although it lost its star, the food was still very high quality! I chose to do the long tasting menu at this restaurant and it was so good! Probably the best Indian food I've had in my life, and it was better than 2 Michelin starred Campton Place in San Francisco! The highlights had to be the lobster dish because of the presentation and spice used, but equally great was the curry course! I really liked how this restaurant elevated Indian food towards a standard comparable to high end French fine dining establishments because it proved how Indian food can really be taken to that level! I paired the meal with a bottle of Bordeaux and it paired beautifully throughout the meal! The restaurant itself was gorgeous and the basement level main dining room didn't feel claustrophobic at all. Also, the service was nicely paced, and it didn't feel rushed! I will return!

This was our first meal in London when my husband and I arrived on our honeymoon, and it was everything we hoped it would be. The service was great! The food was amazing! It's safe to say it's one of the best Indian Restaurants I've been too!
Be the first to ReplyTried the set menu for dinner.
Found the meat and Biryani to be undersalted, the curry and the Biryani to be a bit bitter from the curry leaves. The naan was below average. The dal and raita were good

Such an amazing experience from start to finish! We are big foodies and love Michelin star experiences. Plus my SO is Indian so we had high expectations. We both got the vegetarian tasting menu and everything was delicious! The flow and timing of the meals could be a bit improved but there was a wave of diners about halfway through our meal that likely caused the slight delay. Overall, service was excellent as well. The only thing I would mention is that the food can be a bit on the spicy side so I'd recommend addressing this with your server if that's not your thing. I feel like I should specifically mention the cocktails because they were fantastic, unique, and well worth getting a few. Be sure to order the saffron drink because it was amazing!
Be the first to ReplyI would place between 4 and 5 stars.
The food and service was excellent. Modern take and presentation on Indian classics. Samosas and Sea Bass appetizers were excellent. Chicken Tikka Hasnu was the standout dish. Peppercorn chicken and Tandoori prawn were the only items that were slightly underwhelming. Wine list was excellent, the cocktails tried a bit too hard. I had the gee old fashioned and the butter flavor was a bit too strong for me. That being said, this is probably one of the top 3 Indian meals I've had in my life.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is expensive, but so good.
We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was great. The food was well balanced but still spiced in a great way. The scallops served in a lentil sauce were delicious and had an awesome presentation. The rabbit kebabs and prawns were especially memorable and the wine that was paired to it was an Italian valpolicella. The ambiance is very nice and the restaurant has a great layout with the ย bar at the central far end from the entrance. Our waiter had just the right amount of check-ins that were well-timed and the sommelier was descriptive without any sense of pretension. I'll be recommending this restaurant to friends who are planning to visit London!

Extremely over-priced, but outrageously elegant and delicious. A lovely space, beautiful, modern, intimate. Excellent care by the wait staff. But, they do not cater. They will not provide carryout. And we were there for research for exactly that. Potential for a nice large order for a VVIP, and the chef had no interest in even discussing the possibility with me.
