Never again . Terrible evening . One of my worst outings ever
It is almost a punishment !!! The food is very strange , small portions of different foods , all that don’t match . Too many sauces . The searing is very unfriendly , the staff think they work in Versailles . Ridiculous atmosphere .
The kitchen of the Gods!
Going to Taillevent is a bit like going to Santiago de Compostela! It is a true initiatory journey where the pleasure of a warm and elegant room, exceptional service and delicious, tasty, generous cuisine combine, a taste journey between land and sea that takes you to the heights of French gastronomy. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful addresses in Paris. Here is a photo of the menu served yesterday for lunch (115 euros per person without wine): white asparagus and mussels, veal millefeuille with foie gras and cream puff with pistachio ice cream.
A special gift
As elegant and delicious as we had anticipated….but all very comfortable and welcoming. Wait staff were explaining ingredients and preparation of dishes to everyone, even those who seemed like regular patrons. There were at least seven serving nine tables, ever alert to needs but not hovering. All good natured and patient. We had been given a gift of the “Lunch Box, “ which we had thought would be three courses, champagne , two wines and coffee and sweets. Turned out to be much more. Five delightful and delicious amuse bouche and selections from an enormous cheese cart. All the dishes were innovative. Since this was way, way beyond any restaurant I would normally go to, I can’t comment on relative value……but after 2 1/2 hours at the table, we were very grateful for the gift!
It was absolutely amazing
Ha ha ha, I started a training there as a chef apprentice in the 1950s! Not April 2023. In these days this restaurant was amongst the 5 best restaurants in Paris. And I believe it was renowned to be the first 'Cave' (wine cellar) in France. Much water has gone under the Seine's bridge since. I understand now it is under a new management and they are strugling to get back to the "Hey" days. Meaning to get the number of stars it used to have
Very good but a disappointment
Warm welcome, chic and cozy setting. We chose the 4-course menu: a very nice starter of scallops with caviar, followed by the lobster tail flambéed in whisky, also very generous. We were all disappointed by the meat dishes that arrived lukewarm at the table with their lukewarm accompaniments as well (too scattered on many plates): incomprehensible for such a restaurant, the plates were not even hot... The all-chocolate dessert is great. Too bad for the main course because we came out mixed.
Magical dinner
This dinner was exceptional from starter to dessert. The staff are numerous and attentive without being obsequious. So far it is the best among the large tables I have made (Crillon, Ritz) I really want to go back....
Still Exceptional
We were last at Le Taillevent in 2003 when Jean-Claude was still there. The dinner on January 29, 2024 was as exceptional as in 2003. We were seated immediately upon arrival in the dining room which was tastefully decorated. This was a milestone birthday for me and they didn’t disappoint. From the amuse to dessert to food and presentation was spectacular. The wine list was extremely expansive and reasonably priced for a restaurant of this prestige. Again, thank you for making my birthday so memorable!!
when dessert serves the essential
Very good Valentine's Day meal with varied flavors (caviar, truffle, etc.). However, the dessert (vacherin and milk ice cream) was somewhat succinct and not original enough for the occasion. Likewise, the sweets have been significantly reduced to a bare minimum portion. The finale attenuates what started so well but the essential is still present Your opinion :
One of the most famous restaurants in Paris, with two Michelin stars
Lunch course €115 - The polite service and elegant space are as expected - The restaurant is based on the classic French cuisine that is typical of a famous restaurant. The appetizers were generally excellent, and every dish was delicious. Given that expectation, the main course was okay. However, the dessert, a reconstructed, modern Mont Blanc, showed me that it was a great restaurant. If the main course had been excellent, it would have been highly rated, but overall I think it is a great restaurant. The taste is strong overall. This visit to Paris made me realize the high level of Japanese cooking overall. However, the opposite was true, and the butter (to accompany bread) in Paris was always very delicious.
Everything was perfect
This was our second visit to Taillevent. Everything was perfect. Beautiful room and perfect service. We chose the scallops and lobster from the menu. The quality of the products, cooking and presentations are exceptional. A magical moment in a magical place.

When in Paris right? Went here on a whim - first Michelin "lunch" experience so the tasting menu was slightly abbreviated but it was still very filling and high quality. They had dishes with some of our not so favorite foods that were surprisingly delicious because of how they were paired and dressed. My partner is not a big fan of fish, but do a potato crust and light yet tasteful sauce with fresh fish and he is sold. All of their dishes were creative and well balanced. Excellent service - helpful without being pushy.
One of the most outstanding food experiences awaits you.
