Szechuan Mountain House New York Reviews from The Last Year

The food was nice! There are better Szechuan restaurants but still would recommend this place for a try! The service was nice and quick. The ambiance was also great

Been here a couple of times, food tasted really good and high quality, wait time a little long but worth it if you're willing to wait. The decor and ambiance is really nice and comfortable.
Swinging Pork Belly: Their famous appetizer.
I think it's definitely worth ordering. It's nice and refreshing to have some cucumber and pork belly dipped in their delicious sauce. La Zi Ji (Pepper Chicken): This was the only really spicy dish we had. I loved it. Lots of flavor and decent amount of chicken. Mapo Tofu: Tasty, but not mindblowing like I read in some of the reviews. Cauliflower: Really rich and delicious dish as well. Not quite as spicy as I would have liked, actually. Pig Trotter Soup: Personally, I don't like pig trotters but the broth was very rich and full of flavor. This place was so hyped up that it was hard for it to live up to the hype. It was good, but not AMAZING. I really liked the interior decor, though. Super cool restaurant concept.
I really wish this place didn't always have such a long
I really wish this place didn't always have such a long wait time. Otherwise, I'd be eating here more often. Average wait time for dinner is about 1-3 hours. Depending on the night. I highly suggest coming at odd times to decrease wait time. The place seems small from the front but once you enter, it opens up and you'll see more seating available. The service is quick and easy. No frills. There's always someone to ask a question to or help. The food is where the 5 stars hit the money. They have the numbing spice I love down to the T. If you can't tolerate Szechuan spice, then I wouldn't advise coming here. This is what they're famous for and a must if you're a Szechuan lover. There are items on the menu that are not spicy for those that can't tolerate spice though. 10/10 I do recommend!
great atmosphere and delicious food.
would recommend for anyone who wants to try authentic chinese food.
Ordered delivery and this is how it packed.
I'm a bit disappointed with the packing. The chili spicy chicken is not tasty comparing dine-in. It's a good lessons for me as well that I shouldn't order fried fish for delivery. Still give a four star and hope they can improve and make it better next time. I'll for sure try again.

Recently came back again and loved it! The price is definitely on the higher end, but comparable with nearby places. The crispy and spicy pork intestines you ordered are a highlight, delivering a deliciously crunchy texture paired with a spicy kick. The service was just okay. The place is nicely decorated and give a nice ambiance. I'm sure that they're all excellent choices for my next meal here!
Delicious and authentic.
Ambiance inside is also great. Service is good quality and fast. They also provide excellent takeout/delivery quality of food.
Best Szechuan food in the city.
Whenever I'm craving a warm soup or solid spice, I head here for their fish and sour cabbage soup. More about the restaurant, its decor is gorgeous and serene. If you have ppl visiting you, this is def a place to take them for good food and nice ambience. Servers are always on it and their tea is bomb so they constantly have your water and tea filled. Overall always a good experience.

I don't usually use expletives when I write reviews but this place is frickin delicious. Get the pork swing. Get the garlic shrimp. Get the fried rice. Get the sweet and sour pork. It's so amazing you will not be dissapponted.

So so so so so good! We went on a Tuesday night at 7 and there was a 40 minute wait but it was so worth it. The interior design was great and the service was great. The chili sauce on the pork belly was PHENOMENAL and maybe my favorite part of the whole meal. The mapo tofu was so good and the tofu was very silky and not too spicy at all. I would 100% recommend coming here for anyone who can handle heat
Service and food not as good as before.
Used to come here twice a month but it's seems like all the employees are new and inexperienced.
Heard this place was hard to get a reservation at but
Heard this place was hard to get a reservation at but luckily we were able to get one for 2 on a Tuesday night! I'm not the best with spice so this place was definitely a challenge. - Swing pork belly ($14) 5/5: my favorite of all the dishes we got. The sauce was sooo good by itself and paired well with the pork belly and cucumber. - Bamboo beef rice ($20) 3/5: this dish was SO SPICY. it was difficult to taste the flavors if the rice as every bite was just spicy. maybe i'm just very weak - Pickled pepper frog meat ($32) 4/5: i liked the dried bean curd they included in this dish. the frog was good too but sometimes dry. the dish wasn't too spicy but there was a kick to it. - Honey grapefruit juice ($4) 3/5: was overly sweet - Chrysanthemum tea w. pear ($4) 5/5: this was soooo good. tasted like those vitasoy drinks. i couldn't taste much of the pear flavoring but definitely a must get. it helped a lot when eating the spicy food :: Overall, this place is okay. Definitely for those who can handle spicy food which makes sense from the name
Really great value for the food! I think the flavors are
Really great value for the food! I think the flavors are authentic and the ambience is amazing and it feels like you are actually in China
All the dishes done phenomenally well.
Flavors on point! The wait can be a bit long and would coming with a smaller group. The beef tongue and the clay pot rice were super bomb.
I saw this place online and was excited to come dine here.
The ambiance was awesome and the service was great as well. My friends and I ordered the swing pork, sauteed chinese long beans w. eggplant, grilled beef ribs, sweet and sour pork, and house tomato fish stew (black fish). The presentation of these dishes were beautiful but the food overall was mediocre. We really enjoyed the soup and the sweet and sour pork but the rest of the dishes were a little bland to us. Overall, atmosphere was great but the food was okay.
All the food was good but not especially memorable, liked
All the food was good but not especially memorable, liked the bamboo beef rice, Chiba tofu, and Chinese long beans with eggplant. La-Zi chicken was nothing special
One of my favorite Szechuan restaurants in NYC! The rustic,
One of my favorite Szechuan restaurants in NYC! The rustic, traditional interior makes me feel like I've been transported to China. They even have a small koi fish pond by the entrance! They have a fairly large menu. Dishes range from traditional to modern. I usually crave the sour cabbage soup with beef and enoki at least once month. The sourness and numbing spiciness is just -- chef's kiss*. The salty egg yolk corn kernels are tasty. I like to balance my meal out with some veggies -- always fresh and great quality. Be warned -- make that reservation! Walk-ins on weekends can take up to 3 hours. The food is amazing, but 3 hours is insane and I'll never do that ever again.
Authentic Szechuan cuisine focusing on the flavors, spicy
Authentic Szechuan cuisine focusing on the flavors, spicy and delicious. Swing pork belly (5/5) - The signature dish here! The sauce was so irresistible - spicy, garlicky, rich. It coats the thinly sliced pork belly perfectly, which was subtly savory and meaty. The cucumber is refreshing and provides a nice crunch. Szechuan style fried noodles (5/5) - The thick noodles had a nice chew and were coated by a sauce full of umami that had a nice kick. Delicious! Peppercorn beef (5/5) - The broth is spicy and so rich and the beef is very tender and full of umami. This is a wonderful dish over a bowl of rice. Sour beef soup (4/5) - It was sour. Maybe I'm just not a huge fan of purely sour dishes. Beef was tender and rice cakes were a nice touch. Will try mixing the savory sour soup with rice next time. Green pepper pork (4/5) - I call this once cooked pork. Some pieces of sliced pork belly were so flavorful and rich and tender, and some felt tough. The sauce was ok, good over rice but nothing special. Stir-fried cauliflower (4/5) - It's cauliflower
Seemed like traditional Chinese (although I'm no expert),
Seemed like traditional Chinese (although I'm no expert), the cocktails were excellent, the ambience was super nice, no gluten-free options, our kid enjoyed the food too.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
