Delicious dinner out on the patio.
Our server Robert was amazing! He took such good care of us and we were a large group. Excellent experience!
Be the first to ReplyWent for my birthday and it was a wonderful experience.
The Chicken Fried Elk was awesome and the entree portions really were great. We sat next to the window and it was absolutely beautiful

Not enough to slow the stars, though. Seriously, great place. Drink all the way through steaks and desserts were excellent. They just do not mess up.

5 Views were great! I think this restaurant survives based on the views and ambiance. Sat on the patio with some great live music. The building was very nice and clean. The food was very bland. Everything tasted like nothing. They play it very safe so everyone can like the food and no one can say it tastes "bad".

I booked a reservation for our anniversary and requested a table with a view. When we checked in we were taken to the very crowded third floor which is packed with small 32" round tables and had a view of an empty patio. Already felt like we were in a crowded cruise ship as every table was full and I had to lean towards the wall if anyone walked by. Took a while to see our server to explain the specials and menu but we were in no hurry so no problem. After ordering drinks we received some rolls after a pretty solid wait and the wine we ordered did not come for another 20 minutes after that. I was joking with my wife the wine cellar must be buried deep under the building and he had to go retrieve it himself. Food arrived and we were already pretty frustrated with the wait time, lack of water refills and our waiter being missing in action. Wanted to ask for another roll or two with our meal but steaks were delivered by a runner who seemed frustrated and lost. He took up all of my silverware except for one fork and told us to cut our steaks in half to check for doneness. I informed him he just took up all of my silverware including my knife and instead of just handing it back he said it was dirty and had to leave to get another one. I ordered the Ribeye and my wife ordered the filet. Asked for the ribeye to be cooked medium and it came medium rare which is fine by me and sent him on the way thinking there is no way I am sending this back and waiting another 30 minutes. I have had many great ribeyes in my life and this one fell way short, It was tough, hard to cut and very chewy. Felt like a very low quality steak despite the promise of a "top 2 percent grade" steak sourced from their own farms. The mashed potatoes and green beans that came as standard sides were actually the star of the show instead of the $63 steak. Said missing in action server never returned to ask how the meal was and showed up after we had completed our meals and asked if we would like a desert menu and noticed our waters empty so offered the refill. I was ready to leave and try to find another location for desert and coffee but we went ahead and ordered a creme brûlée to share before heading out. Took another 30 minutes for desert to arrive and I am expecting it to be flamed at the table or freshly made but came out ice cold throughout and obviously made early and just sitting in a refrigerator. No reason this should have taken 30 minutes to get to us if it was already pre-made. Needless to say we left feeling very disappointed. After all the reviews we have read we expected much more for a meal over $150. Would have gladly paid more for better ambiance, service and food quality. We actually had an amazing meal, service and ambiance at Paul Martins in the Domain 2 weeks ago and would it recommend them over Steiner ranch Steakhouse hands down!

This used to be one of our favorite steak houses but now it really misses the mark on service. The food is still quality but it's less classy on the service side and more like an Applebees. It's loud in certain areas even ones not in the bar area. You have to yell to talk to the people at your table.... Not sure if they got new management but what used to be a stellar wait staff, is now more first week on the job service you would get at a cheddars or chili's. We literally had to ask 3 times for my youngest a kids menu. Remind them Of our appetizer order after 30 minutes.... Waited over an hour for our food... saw our waiter a total Of 4 times and each time with an oh I forgot. A bit disappointing to see such a normally great place going down hill.
Be the first to ReplyAn incredible location overlooking Lake Travis.
We were greeted by a friendly staff and seated in one of the dining rooms. After speaking with the waitress, I ordered the steak and tail, a 10 oz filet and 12 oz lobster tail. Both of them were incredible; however, the market price for the tail ($92) is a bit much. The filet as absolutely incredible so I think I'd rather have two filets then the steak and tail. I also had the brownie earthquake dessert, which was massive and amazing. I highly recommend Steiner Ranch for a nice meal, even if it is a bit pricey. Overall, lovely experience and I will come back.
Be the first to ReplyThis was our second time visiting Steiner Ranch Steakhouse.
.. and now, all my wife talks about is this steak! Aside from the beautiful grounds and amazing service the staff has always provided, the food is amazing. This last time we were there, I recommended our company planner to book us here for our team Christmas dinner with our spouses. So, although it was a limited menu.... The chef did not limit his/ her quality. The steak was cooled to perfection. The perfect amount of salt and pepper was sprinkled as it seared then im sure as it was finished off .. I mean, even the little fat it had was amazing. The sides we had were also taken to their perfect serving point. The mashed potatos weren't swimming im butter but were definitely not thirsty. The bartender was not shy about pouring some high quality spirits, sodas and other beverages. There was no delay from the serving staff and we never lacked anything as guests. Steiner is most certainly my go to now for anything special or.... My wife wants a steak on Tuesday :) Looking forward to Valentines dinner now.

Server at the bar: Rachel 3 beersGin and Vodka MartiniThe Martini was made beautifully, could not have asked for a better drink, or a better server. She answered all questions I had and I never had an empty drink.Chef: AnthonyAlthough I didn't eat the food he was making, I got to watch him work, and he is very much a master of his craft, and it was a pleasure watching him handle the crowd he was working with. He kept a consistent pace, and is obviously good at what he does.Dinner server: JusticeShe definitely left a good impression. Walked me through the menu and made recommendations when asked. She made sure I was thoroughly taken care of, and was very attentive to everything I ordered, giving me updates when it would be a little bit. Everything was made and given to me at perfect increments. All in all, this place deserves no less than 5 stars. All of the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They all know what they do very well. I highly recommend making reservations to make sure you can eat here, it is worth the trip.

On the rare occasion I choose steak I prefer it (unpopular opinion, I know) well done. I was told the filets are cooked to temperature which turned out to mean a delicious crust on the outside & pink in the center. It was so tender and flavorful. The sides of mashed potatoes and green beans were also great. Definitely recommend the lobster mac & cheese. Beautiful sunset over the lake & city views.
Be the first to ReplyWell, I really wanted to give them a positive review but
Well, I really wanted to give them a positive review but unfortunately the negatives outweighed the positives. We went there for our wedding anniversary and were excited to try Steiner Ranch for the first time. However, this will be our last.We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, and we were confused when they delivered our salad/soup before the appetizer. The waiter forgot to place the order. We let that go but when they delivered my filet (ordered medium) I cut into it and it was rare. Now this IS a steak house and they should know how to properly cook their steaks. I sent it back and the waiter commented "sorry that you will have to watch you wife eat"? That was the only sorry we received. It took a while and when they returned the steak, the au gratin crabmeat was pushed to the side and cold. The steaks were actually very good but I waited around 15 minutes for the steak to return and my wife was almost done with her meal. Now you would think they would offer dessert or something for the mistake (or anniversary) but offered nothing. Hate to have to post a negative review but this was our experience and we will not be returning. It is a shame because it is great location with a spectacular view.

This is the place for a fantastic steak and a memorable Texas classic dinner. Everything was first class. Food is amazing. Service was friendly and efficient. You will never leave this restaurant unsatisfied. It's a must for everyone.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing location.
Very fancy. Just needs a tweak on some things. Came in at about 5:30 on a Monday so not a lot of people. Parking lot was empty and no one was waiting around but they still asked for our phone number. Looked around and texted us that our table was ready and set us down. Such a fancy place but it's little things that need tweaking. For instance the pleather lamp shades are on their last legs. Booths were huge. Waitress was great. super fancy menu's that light up when you open them. Very heavy. Left side didn't light up. If you're going to give out heavy menu's that light up at least make sure they work. There's apparently 3 menu's for drinks. Ones got cocktails, wine, and whiske/bourbons. Dunno why they can't make it all on one drink menu but hey it's fancy. They bring out rolls and cornbread with butter. Definitely not like Texas Roadhouse butter. Had no taste but guess that's fancy butter. Sweet cornbread probably woulda been a better choice. Girlfriend ordered a nice Peach frozen drink and I had House margarita. Was very delicious. Wish it came in actual margarita glass rather than a regular glass cup. My girlfriend ordered Chicken Fried Elk and I had a 14oz Texan Ribeye. Now the food came out and it looked great. The Chicken Fried Elk was a bit flat. Was hoping for something a lil more fluffy crispy. I cut into the Ribeye and it was blackened on the outside but raw in the middle. Waitress said "That's how we do medium rare here". Well.......medium rare is medium rare. A lovely pink not blackened outside, pink layer and then very rare in the middle. She did offer to take it back and put it back on the grill but my fault for hoping that maybe that was a fancy way to eat medium rare steak. Tasted good but the explosive diarrhea I had last night make me think that maybe I shoulda sent it back to the grill. Mashed potatoes were great. Were real potatoes, coulda used lil more butter maybe. Green beans were a bit eh. Could use a lil bit of bacon, salt, and time in the pot. So yeah I'd probably go to that Salt Grass over by the mall if I want a better steak. For a great view and fancy service I'd go here. Probably just come here for drinks. Waitress was awesome outside of the bad advice that a rare steak is the way they do medium rare. Maybe it was the Elk?

Be the first to ReplyYOU'VE BEEN CHARGED!At what point are you NOT fairly new to
YOU'VE BEEN CHARGED!At what point are you NOT fairly new to somewhere? My wife and I have lived in Texas for 3yrs now but 2 of those years were COVID. With that, we haven't had a good opportunity to explore as much as we'd like. So while out doing some exploring we were were told that Steiner Ranch was the place to go for some good food. To paint the proper picture, my wife was wearing a nice flowery dress and I had on shorts, hoodie and a baseball cap. I didn't look dirty or like I rolled off the job site, everything was clean a relatively appropriate to wear. Even though I myself would never wear that to Steiner Ranch again, there were more than a few others wearing the same thing. When we arrived we were seated in a timely fashion and the place looked great. We were both excited and hungry from our mid-day exploring around the area. Unfortunately this is where things started to go down hill. Our waiter took an extremely long time to get to our table and when he did show up he seemed more concerned with the surrounding tables that already had their drinks and food. My wife worked as a server/bartender for a spell and pointed out that this was poor service on our servers part.We ordered our drinks and had our server explain the specials. Ok, things are moving along!.....NOPE! Mind you, the place is NOT full so there's no reason for the delay in our drinks. And where's the bread everyone else seems to have. When the server came back we asked for some bread which ended up never coming so I'm not going to continue talking about it. (and I love bread)When our food finally came, my steak was good. I honestly have no complaints about my steak. I'd get a steak again. My wife's scallops and fish were good as well. The problem was, the server explained the dishes as though the scallops could be switched out for some other seafood that came for her fish but when we got the bill we were charged as though 2 dishes were combined and were told they explained that to use. Keep in mind that none of her sides were combined. She didn't get extra veggies or salad or soup....nothing. We counted, she got 8 thin stalks of asparagus. And when I say thin I mean thinner than a pencil. If was pathetic! During all this my wife decided to order a glass of white wine that when it came was absolutely horrible. I believe the wine had been corked or rotten or just plain bad. She took two sips and had me taste it.....it smelled like rotten grapes. We would've complained to the server but they were nowhere to be found. Here comes the kicker......When the server finally returned and we asked for the bill. When the server came back with the bill it was for about $220. Expensive? Yes, the combined seafood dishes were a lot but we didn't know we were getting charged until the bill and my wife already ate most of the fish and scallops. We mentioned it but were treated as if we should've known. The server took my card and bill. I then heard my phone go off and when I looked I saw my bank account had been charged over $250 by Steiner Ranch!! When the server came back I asked them about it and they denied running the card and for that much. I showed them my phone and they still denied it. My wife asked if that included the tip and they said "no". We were appalled at the overall service and experience at Steiner Ranch. My wife thought they may have charged us based on how I was dressed and wanted to make sure we had the money in our account. Whatever the case, we won't be returning to Steiner Ranch anytime soon. We've since been to a few other steakhouses and received a MUCH better experience. I was SO looking forward to going here and I left severely disappointed.....bummer.

Ever had a 20 dollar glass of wine by the glass? Me neither till I came to Steiner Ranch Steakhouse. I got no warning about this till I got my tab. I asked " wait, did I buy a bottle or s glass? Because you're charging me for a bottle. Oh no that's what we charge for a glass. If you're going to charge that much for a glass of wine, warn the customer so he can try to choose a mre affordable option. I'm tempted to use much stronger language, but I ' ll refrain. You got my 20 bucks, but not my loyalty. So good luck with that business model.

Be the first to ReplySo hubby decided to surprise me with a nice brunch
So hubby decided to surprise me with a nice brunch reservation at Steiner. My first time here and we will definitely return. He made reservations on Sunday for 11:15. When we checked in they took us in right away to be seated and they offer you to sit out or in. We chose outside because it was nice enough and I loved the ambience out there. They had the fire going and it was a beautiful view. The staff was excellent and on top of everything while wearing that smile. It is a buffet style and they have different stations for different types of food. They had the sweets like french toast in one area and another area they had a spot to make you omelettes and carving station, they had two more stations with more options. When you are taken to your seats they offer you something to drink. We ordered mimosas and that was delicious and enjoyable also. Everything was cooked to perfection and it tasted great and fresh. They provide you with good portions of it all as well. My experience here was a perfect 10. The brunch is only offered on Sundays from 10-2 I believe and I suggest make reservations. They do have some seats at the bar for you if you didn't have reservations but its very limited at the bar. The bathrooms were clean and there is parking for the restaurant. I definitely recommend this place for their brunch and when you get the chance sit outside.

Be the first to ReplyWe've gone twice so far and will definitely be returning
We've gone twice so far and will definitely be returning customers. Our second experience was outstanding. Everything was cooked perfectly, fun server and live piano music. We all each ordered different steaks happy with our personal favorite cuts and tried bites of each others - all were really good, quail wings (yummy and meaty!), salads, dessert. A bit pricey but happy to pay for an excellent meal and dining experience. (The first time we also noted it was a bit pricey since we just went for an every day meal, not a special occasion. We thought the steak and seafood was good, but not over the top worth the price. We are glad we decided to give them another chance). They were very busy both times. I suggest making a reservation - even if you just call ahead so they have a table waiting for you.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has really gone downhill.
I've made reservations 3 times asking for a certain room. The reservations were made weeks, sometimes two months, in advance. They've got high school students as hostesses and these girls are clearly not reading any of the requests on the reservations. They always seat us in the wrong room, and basically tell us it's another hour wait for the room we want. Just done with this place.
Be the first to ReplyHad seen this place on the food channel from Guy Fiari's
Had seen this place on the food channel from Guy Fiari's show YEARS ago and always promised to visit. So happy we made the almost 5 hour drive this place is amazing. Our waiter from California assumed and had an attitude at first due to our ethnicity but this quickly changed once we started spending.Drinks are all custom, 92$ lobster appetizer is worth it, and the fried green tomatoes topped with crab are the best we've ever had (trust us we're professionals lol). Ambiance with the fires, live music and lights are everything. Sit outside!
