Noodles in Maui.
I went because I saw Star Noodle on DDD. I liked my meal but I can't claim to be a huge fan. Our server was friendly and helpful enough but at the end of the meal I had had an above-average bowl of ramen that got cold rather quickly, all at Maui prices. Would I go again? Possibly, but I'm not in a rush.

Food was excellent. We had the papaya and shrimp salad, pork buns, shrimp shemi and hot and sour soup. It's a share type style. Service was great. You all should try it when in Lahaina!

Beautiful spot in Lahaina with wonderful ocean views. The food is phenomenal as is the service. We particularly loved the shrimp tempura, look moore fun noodles (holy delicious, Batman!), and the cheezy corn dumplings (a huge hit with our kids....we had to get two orders). By far one of the best places we ate during our vacation.

One of our best meals in Maui! Star Noodle is a lovely restaurant, located on the water and the food is excellent. Make a reservation in advance and enjoy :)

Unfriendly and rude staff. Food is okayish and not worth the hype. We could feel racism from staff there.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, great views and great for families
We went for a casual dinner. Very good service and good food. It is very difficult to get a reservation, so we did a walk-in and weโre able to get the last two seats at the bar. The food was as wonderful, as it was the first time we went.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food, great service. Must Go!
Our family has waited 6 years to finally eat at the famous Star Noodles in Lahaina. It definitely did not disappoint. We had the garlic noodles, salmon, an egg dish, and ramen. It was supposed to be family style however my family needs exactly what they order. We will absolutely go back again.

Star Noodle is so flavorful, consistent, fast, and diverse. I cannot recommend this place enough. So many favorites! You have to try the pork buns, and the Asian pear cocktail.!

Delicious!! My husband and I shared the Kim Chi dumplings, the steamed pork buns and garlic noodles and ended up bring half the noodles home. We were told there was a 30 minute wait but were seated within 15 minutes. Will definitely go back again before we leave.
Be the first to ReplyNo luck with reservations? Get the take-out!
Getting a reservation at Star Noodle can seem like mission impossible - unless you plan weeks in advance. What we did though, was go there at 11 am and order take-out. It was perfect! We managed to get the ahi tuna and avocado and the steamed buns (which they tend to run out of I hear), the chicken teriyaki and a couple of different noodles. The food was very well packaged to go, and we took it back to our hotel to have it on a picnic table overlooking the beach. Great way to experience the food without a reservation!

Star Noodle was a delicious and fun meal! We were two couples who shared a few dishes and they were all so good. I especially liked the garlic noodles and the chicken knuc(probably misspelled that). Our waiter made suggestions when we ask and we all enjoyed our meal.

After researching this place we were excited to try it out. Lots of hype surrounds this restaurant and it is well deserved. Tough to get in but we we were able to get a table. Ordered 3 or 4 dishes and all were outstanding! Also had a couple of great cocktails to go with the food. Great atmosphere and great service. Top notch restaurant right on the water. Donโt miss it!

Could not wait to try this restaurant from the excellent reviews. Reservations were all booked up for the last 3 days of our trip so decided to just go there as a walk in. We waited about 45 minutes for a table at lunch. Setting was beautiful. 3 of us were vegetarians so we decided to try one each of the 3 veg main dishes that were available. We tried the Shanghai Noodles and the Pad Thai which were both dry and tasteless. Also, tried the Garlic Noodles which was ok but would never order again. We started out with the Vegetable Tempura which was very good. My husband had the Look Moore Fun. He said that it was good but not very filling. We all left feeling that the restaurant was over rated and would never come back

The food is good, however it is expensive. It just seems like they are half portions. But enjoy the view of the water as that may well be what you are paying for. Feels like they are trying to get the upper echelon of prices like Mama's fish house.

We stopped off about 4:30 on a rainy afternoon and the matre d' let us in without a reservation (needed for the most part). We had to dodge some drips from the ceiling as it is semi-alfresco with open air dining. My wife had Napa Ramen with pork, corn, fish balls and a good hearty stock with thin noodles: I had Udon Pork with pork, pork belly, scallions and thick Thai noodles. Both were absolutely delicious. Prices were reasonable by Hawaii standards.

We were driving by Star Noodle (which used to be a mixed plate joint that we loved), and decided to swing in. We didn't expect that we'd need reservations, and got lucky with two seats at the bar. The food was exceptional, the service was exception, and as always, the location is wonderful!

We made a reservation for lunch well in advance of our trip and so glad we did. Star Noodle lives up to its name. Located off the main shopping and tourism area of Lahaina. The setting is magnificent. All of the seating is outdoors but with enough shade or rain cover if needed. We ordered the tempura shrimp which were perfectly cooked. For our main course we split the Singapore noodles which was plenty for two. We wished we could have returned to try other dishes. The entire menu sounded fantastic and looking at other tables my mouth watered. Service was good. I would definitely add this spot to a return trip.
Be the first to ReplyA really good experience, but some caveats.
The food was creative and excellent. Service was good, and the views are second to none. We had the garlic noodles, the tempura shrimp, the teriyaki chicken, and the bao buns. The server recommended 3 to 5 shareable plates, and we ordered 4. It was too much food. Should have skipped the bao buns. The buns were okay, but not fantastic. The other plates were truly great. All in all, a great experience and I am glad I went, but I doubt that I will return. Very expensive and parking is a nightmare. One and done for us, but something I recommend you try.

Delicious! Every single thing was delicious. We had the steamed buns, adobe ribs and miso pork ramen. Ate it all. So good.

Decent food overall but I'm not sure if it's worth the wait to get on their waitlist, the hype or the trouble it takes trying to make a reservation. The concept is Asian-fusion. We had the steamed clams to start then the pad Thai and two noodle soups, the star udon and the local saimin. The star udon definitely was the best dish, very flavorful and the thick noodles were key to making this dish a winner. The local saimin unfortunately was a disappointment, tasted like a cup of instant noodles. Service was good and the atmosphere was very relaxed, I'd say this is more of a lunch place not so much a place I'd come for dinner.

We heard the hype and got the only reservation left at 4:15. The Kim chee was Korean-level quality, the pork buns were delicious and not terribly fatty, and the pad Thai was perfect. We also ordered shrimp tempura that was a little underdone, but not dangerously so. Beautiful scenery and excellent service.

After dining at Starnoodle a few years ago, (before it moved) we were extremely excited to visit again! We had eaten at their community table on the previous visit and we're so inspired by it, that we installed one in our own restaurant! Sadly we came away disappointed. Our initial server was having a bad day, so much in fact we asked to be moved (To his credit he came by our new table and apologized). When we were waiting for our new table the manager came up to us (carrying an empty trash bag) and asked what was wrong, which wasn't a good look... The pork buns were fantastic, the clams also superb, but had to be eaten with chop sticks? No small fork or soup spoon was offered. My wife's beet salad she loved but was again very difficult to eat with chop sticks. Mascarpone cheese and chop sticks don't mix. Finally to the Star Udon pork. It had a touch of rancidity, and was again almost impossible to eat with a Chinese soup spoon and chop sticks. Even slurping had its own challenges for the noodle is 1/4in thick and at least 12 inches long. Vermicelli might be a better choice for this Maui icon's signature dish.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible experience with staff!
I would have given a zero rating if I could. Not because of their food quality but for lack of effective communication when someone calls them to seek an idea on wait time for walk ins. Turns out they will tell you that they take walk in and let you know the wait time, but when you actually arrive there they will tell you "Oh we are done taking a wait list". So why couldn't you let us know what time you stop taking wait list for walk in then? It happened to us twice with this place. The food may be good, but the staff's not welcoming, blunt and could care less for potential customers. Terrible! Will not ever recommend this place to anyone unless they secure a reservation.
