What a wonderful address the Stand is! The two Michelin stars are well deserved. The dinner menu consists of 8 dishes focusing on Hungarian cuisine and all its riches. The cooking is perfect, the flavors controlled and balanced, the tastes just right. The Chef's signature dish won a Bocuse d'Or and gave us a culinary orgasm! My husband's food allergy to mustard was perfectly respected, they were ultra-vigilant, as for me with the cabbage. My husband took the “small food and wine pairing” to taste Hungarian wines. The “big deal” was focused on French wines. This interested him less being French. We were lucky enough to have the table with a view of the open kitchens. This allowed us to see the brigade and the deputy chief working in a good atmosphere. The service is very friendly, smiling, caring and attentive. It’s flawless!

I wrote this review on the Dinner Booking site but had to repost it here We had an amazing experience at Stand from the second we walked in the door. There is a lovely atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door. We’ve dined in a number of restaurants of this calibre and Stand exceeded our expectations. The food is exquisite from start to finish. It was flawless and amazingly executed. What tips this restaurant over the bar for me is the staff. They have the perfect balance between knowledge of the food, professionalism and friendliness. Special shout out to Sophie, she has such a lovely manner and made the experience great! (And brought extra bread to my partner who couldn’t get enough of it!!!….even the bread exceeded expectation!) We were extremely grateful and appreciative to have been allowed to take a look at kitchen as one of our dishes were being prepared. The kitchen is pristine and the level of concentration and attention to detail is excellent. As an ex chef, my partner was even more appreciative to see the kitchen! The value for money is great, yes it is expensive in general but factoring in 2 Michelin stars and the level of service, I felt it was worth every penny. The team are very transparent with regard to any supplements that may be added because of the dish. I would 100% recommend this restaurant and will return should we ever come back to Budapest

I went alone do to my company being ill. I was prepered with music/earbuds in case I would feel alone but after 4½ hours I had not even once thought of putting them in. The understanding of the situation, the kindness of the Staff, the inclusiveness, the quality of the food, the taste and presentation of the food. I am amazed. I spend a little time throughout the evening to write notes about every dish I got (8-14 course dinner menu) including how the wine was (also how I felt with the pairing) but I won't go into details here. It can be summed up quite easily: everything was sublime. A special thanks to Zsófia V., Bence & Borbély T. You most definately made my evening better than I could've ever expected. Needless to say, he was jaloux yet very grateful of your personal message do to his situation. I will, with no doubt, return in the future - expectfully with company next time.
Be the first to ReplyGot to be our best ever dining experience
Whilst we do not have a lot of 2 star michelin experiences to compare this to (none in fact), it was without a doubt the best meal and dining experience we have ever had. I had booked Stand as a surprise for my wife as part of our Anniversary weekend away. And to say that she was blown away is an under statement. From the minute we arrived and the warm welcome we received (by name without us introducing ourselves) to the minute we left, there is nothing that I could fault Stand on. The food was out of this world, and I lost count as to how many courses there actually were in the end, it just never seemed to end...what was a great thing as each course just got better and better. The knowledge of each member of the team was great and they were very happy to answer any queries/questions they had. They are incredibly proud of what they do and the awards they have won. They spent a lot of time talking to us about Tamsz and Ben's awards and brought across numerous articles/books show casing their victories. The personal touch from every member of staff was phenomanal and meant that our evening was out of this world. We could not have asked to have spent a better night celebrating our anniversary than here.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional experience
The food here was exceptional, and the care for detail of the chef's team was second to none. Precision is everything in a restaurant at this level, and absolutely everything was at the expected level. Every single thing we ate was sensational, and moving forward through the eight courses, you realise how much effort is behind every single course. The chef's signature is very present in the taste of every finished product. The sommelier is a true wine aficionado. The vine list is extensive and very, very well curated. On one side, you can find the world's top wines, from Krug to Petrus, while the stars of Eastern Europe vineyards from Hungary to Croatia and Romania are also there for those who prefer to stay local. Congratulations!

The place is best of the best. I have never had such an exclusive dinner experience so far in my life. With my wife we had an 8+1 course chef's menu. We spent about 3 and a half hours dining and not a second of it was wasted. From entering the restaurant until leaving there is not a moment that was not 5 star superior. The staff, waiters, sommelier were polite, not pushy at all and were really experts on their field. We were asked at the end which course we liked best and honestly I was in trouble... I could have listed all of them. The tastes, structure and outlook of all the dishes were just incredible. We chose hungarian wines that were a hit. Superb. I have already been to several michelin star restaurants but without doubt this is to be ranked highest. So anyone thinking about going here: it is not just advised it is certainly a must if you like haute cuisine.

Travelled from England to eat here as an early Christmas present . The Food was outstanding had tasting menu ( regular and pescatarian) with wine flight. Was a bit different from what you might expect in UK fine dining. All staff spoke great English, and were very helpful and fun.
Be the first to ReplyBest Budapest has to offer.
Travelled from the UK to go to Stand, the food was outstanding, the ambience was brilliant, and nothing was too much of a problem, an experience made all the better for the care from Sini-Marja.
Be the first to ReplyJust PERFECTION!
My girlfriend and I often eat at restaurants from the Michelin guide because it is our passion. This is one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. The place is cozy and warm, the staff is excellent, the food is cooked to perfection with a superb balance of flavors, THE RESTAURANT DESERVES all the praise, awards and positive comments it receives, they managed to capture our time and create a wonderful memory for us. It's only a matter of time before they get the 3rd star so hurry up.

From the moment we entered the restaurant we felt wonderful and very wellcome! Everything was perfect! Sublime service and undescribable delicious servings made our evening , dining at Stand an inforgettable experience! Thank you Stand!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely excellent!
From start to finish this was a fantastic meal. All parts of the Tasting menu were delicious, the wine flight complimented the food perfectly. Add to that the service was first class. Our server Veronica was super friendly and helpful. We went to Stand25 the night before (also very good) so we were asked to compare the Goulash and say who was best…. a tricky task given they were very different, but the way the Stand Goulash was really reduced produced such an intense flavour, it was the winner ☺️ Lots of lovely additional touches only added to one of my favourite ever meals, on a par with Le Manoir aux quat’saisons. If you eat anywhere in Budapest, make sure it is here.

Simply excellent and the next booking is already made. Recently awarded its second Michelin star, the Stand is definitely a place you should go to. The food is memorable and the service excellent. And, after also dining at most of their Michelin starred competition, I can say without any doubt, this one is the best in town! Keep up the good work! And now head for the third star :)

The best food experience I have ever had. I will definitely recommend this to everyone who is in Budapest. The service was outstanding and by far the best I have ever experienced. The food was extraordinary both by looks and by taste.
Be the first to ReplyDeserving of its 2* Michelin rating
The last time dining here was when it had a 1* Michelin rating back in 2018. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength culminating in its receiving 2* Michelin in 2022, so it was with quite some anticipation that we finally tried it again. The physical restaurant itself is a relatively small space tucked away down something of a side street in Budapest. The decor is unchanged from our previous visit, and now that they've received 2* status, perhaps it is a good time for a refurb. Not that it needs it per se, but one feels a 2* destination restaurant is somewhat different from a 1* establishment, and this needs to be reflected in more than just the food alone. Clearly this is not a primary concern... They sensibly offer a tasting menu only format with the choice between 6 or 8 courses; given the small price difference between the 2 the fact that the extra 2 courses are modestly sized, they should probably be even braver and go with an 8 course tasting menu format only for the dinner service. Interestingly, they offer a vegetarian tasting menu, although this carries the same price as the normal one. This feels a bit meanspirited as whilst there is still clearly a lot of work involved in its creation - indeed many of the dishes are the same as the normal menu - overall the raw ingredients are without question cheaper, yet this is not reflected anywhere. The quality of the cooking here was noticeably more refined, more considered, more confident than what I recall from our previous visit. I like the fact that a lot of the dishes are vegetable focused which typically requires a lot more creativity than say a more protein focused menu. This makes its style quite distinct from other high-end fine dining establishments where every course will typically be protein based. The level of cooking was overall very consistent between courses rather than there being some hits and some misses they all struck the right balance and as a consequence, the right notes. For me, and this is of course partly personal preference, some of the portion sizes could have been just a little larger, particularly the absolutely delicious dessert which was sized - for me at least - as if it were a pre-dessert. There were lots of canapes, amuse bouches, mignardises and suchlike so the experience certainly didn't feel as if it was lacking in generosity. That said, the price point, especially for Hungary, feels a bit toppy given that save for one dish there were hardly any "luxury" ingredients. Save for a fish dish which came with caviar, there were no other dishes which had traditional luxury ingredients, despite it being white truffle and black winter truffle season. I am sure that their riposte would be that this is not what the kitchen is about, their focus is creating something exceptional out of more humble produce, which they do absolutely achieve. However, as a regular diner in the very best restaurants, I could pay just a bit more than here for a 3* in say Germany or France where each course is created using high-end fish, seafood, truffles, etc. The wine list is impressive with a deep selection from the best Hungarian producers as well as a good selection of bottles from elsewhere in Europe and further afield. Interestingly the markups are very varied, from a few relative bargains to some bottles where the markups would not look dissimilar in London (not a city noted for its kindness to wine enthusiasts). The service was very friendly and warm and was pitched at just the right level and suited the overall feel and ambiance of this restaurant. All in all, without question, it is the best restaurant in Budapest and well worth a visit for its cuisine which is still firmly rooted in Hungary yet elevated to a 2* Michelin level.

Availability for this restaurant was limited when booking, but this should be no surprise. The experience at Stand was right up there with the very best. First and foremost the food quality is exceptional. We had the 8 course tasting menu with paired wines. Every dish is your favourite until the next one comes along. Personally I enjoyed the duck the most. Often desserts disappoint in tasting menus but not here, both were delightful. Often the paired wines can be disappointing but not here. On top of this the service was exceptional, which made the whole evening complete. The staff have such passion which matches the quality of the food and wine. I can’t find a fault. An experience that we will always remember. Thank you.

My husband and I were lucky to dine here this week. Absolutely amazing experience. The flavours and the service were top. Highly recommend

Had a wonderful evening here. The dishes were consistently tasteful, balanced, and with a clear goal to elevate good ingredients. The service was kind, clear, and professional. We were seated such that we could peek into the kitchen without hearing it, which I am personally very fond of. The wines were all really great but I had a challenge finding the match to some of the dishes. Still, I would highly recommend this restaurant for an exclusive dining experience.

We opted for the 8 course tasting menu with matched wines. The setting, staff and food were outstanding! It’s a very small and intimate setting. We were on the wait list and they called us in the morning due to a cancellation. We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a special dinner in Budapest. It was up there with one of the best tasting menus we’ve ever had.

We’ve been fortunate enough to have visited some of the best Michelin starred restaurants in the UK but Stand was definitely up there with the best. We did the 8 course dinner with wine pairing and it was simply sublime. Sophie our waitress was probably the best we’ve ever had look after us, so sweet, attentive and fun to talk to. Thanks everyone for making us feel so welcome.
