If you follow us on social media, you'll know that Vince loves his Soba Noodles... Something about a lighter meal that tastes perfect makes him so happy. Soba Totto definitely hit the spot for him.The broth is a dashi based soup that you can add your onions and wasabi in for a kick... We recommend doing that and then dipping your noodles in. The noodles just grabs on to the broth and brings it to your mouth... I'm drooling typing this, definitely give it a shot@phidingthefam

Great soba! Taste and freshness of soba noodles were on point! Tempura came out nice and hot. Portion of noodles could be bigger for the price.

Came on a Friday evening and the ambiance was great, not too loud. Service was the best though- servers were attentive and we stayed a bit after finishing our meals to chat but the servers did not rush us at all which was very appreciated. Also for anyone looking for a gluten free/ gluten friendly spot- they provide tamari upon request! Salmon sashimi bowl was fresh and delicious. Will definitely be coming back.

Excellently prepared soba, both hot and cold, great sake selection, and beautifully prepared yakitori. Loved the ambience, which feels like a walking into a restaurant in Japan. Will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyThe food here was okay.
We wanted to try a ramen place, but the wait was way too long so we settled for this spot. It was good, but nothing special. First of all, we went when it was closing time so the service wasn't as great as I would like it and they were missing a lot of stuff on the menu. However, the waiter was accommodating and tried to give us substitution options. We shared a ton of appetizers which were good. I liked the fried chicken and the various raw fish. I ordered a chirashi bowl which was good, but not the best chirashi bowl ever. I wanted more vegetables and picked veggies inside of the dish. My husband got the soba noodles and they were just okay. It had huge chunks of pork in it and I wish that the pork was in smaller pieces because it was too big with the noodles. The noodles were okay. I wish they were softer and more chewy. All in all, a good spot to go to if you want to get a bite, but I wasn't too impressed.
Be the first to ReplySoba Totto's always a go-to place in midtown for me.
Their service is always on point, and the flavors are great. I think the dish that most surprised us was the tofu salad- it was unexpectedly one of our favorites of the night. Personally, I prefer karaage to be in smaller bites so it was a bit difficult to eat but that's personal preference more than anything. As its name represents, the star here is the soba. The broths (cold and hot) are not overwhelmingly salty, which is frequently what happens with places that don't know how to prepare soba. The noodles were perfectly cooked so that they have the perfect amount of chewiness.Spots can be limited depending on your timing so make sure to make a reservation!

Friendly and very helpful server, fresh and amazing food! Such a great find, a gem! Do not pass, definitely a must try!
Be the first to Replygood service in a fancy setting.
great spot for an intimate, affordable meal. the portion size was good for the price and it's a good introduction to Japanese soba.
Be the first to ReplyFrequented this spot a lot.
It's a very fun, cozy and casual ambience almost feels like your in a restaurant in Japan with the atmosphere especially their nice private rooms. Smack in the middle of midtown right next to grand central station so it's convenient. Cute decor and easy to miss when you walk by so keep an eye out for the red rooster sign! Love their draft beers so nice cold and crisp. Food was really great. Their sashimi is so fresh and nice sized pieces. Their yakitoris are hands down delicious. It's the perfect balance in sauce not too much not too little. You can put tare sauce or opt out and go for a nice subtle simple salt flavor. The tsukune comes with a egg for dipping and it adds so much richness. The teba is nicely grilled moist juicy inside, crispy outside and perfectly seasoned outside. The negima is good. They used to have a salmon yaki tori with ikura toppings which was so good sadly they don't have it anymore. There are some items that you might not usually find like gizzards and liver which I was not a fan of until I tried it here! Some other great apps as well. For mains I always have pork tsuke soba. You have got to try the pork tsuke soba!! It's my favorite. Ratio of meat to soba with the crunchiness coming from the sliced cucumbers and the blend of a delicious sauce that hits all the flavor notes of a little spice, perfect saltiness, sesame flavor etc. is just happiness in your mouth. MUST TRYWhen I have too much of that I sometimes go for a cold soba with tempura. I love the simplicity of wasabi scallions with a nice cold dipping sauce. If you truly enjoy the simple things in life you will enjoy their soba. Cooked well with a nice chewy texture. Long silky soba with the full buckwheat flavor. I either do prawn or vegetable tempura a nice crunch not heavily oiled. Just enough tempura to have a bite after each soba bite. Service is great very attentive staff who are knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions. Cocktails are delicious. Sun and moon being my favorite. Can't wait to go back and maybe try their lunch sets too since the prices look too good to be true
Be the first to ReplyMy sister works in Manhattan and recommended it.
I was treating my nieces to a nice meal. I am traveling from LosAngeles for the week. Everything was fine until I gave them my AMEX The waitress (there were several) claimed it was declined so I gave her my Mastercard as an alternate. I have never had my AMeX declined ever - so I though it strange. As I headed back home- I noticed a "pending" fee on my AMeX app. (Payment had gone straight through on my other card.). On the phone the person was rude and laughed and told me to call back Monday. With no attempt to take my name and phone # -I told her I would simply dispute the fee w AMEX. She was like "go ahead." Will not be returning here - they are scammers. Watch out.

My friend and I came here on a Friday night so it was pretty packed but we managed to get seats at the bar. Of course we had to start with Sake which they serve in these cute shot glasses (for lack of better terms). To start we got the 5 different types of sashimi which was pretty good though to be frank I've had better. Soba Totto does have a wide variety of yakitori and most of them are good (highly recommend the tsukene/meatball one) but some are a complete miss such as the kawa/skin and sunagimo/gizzard. If I had to pick my favorite item, it had to be the uni soba. It was refreshing and filling. All in all, Soba Totto does have pretty good food but there are cheaper izakaya-style options in the midtown area such as Izakaya MEW.
Be the first to ReplyNo freaking way.
This is not the same place unfortunately. Way overpriced, tiny portions and the meal was meh.
Be the first to ReplyWow, Soba Totto was truly astonishing.
I loved the style and the ambiance of this place. ย Every menu item that we ordered was extra fresh and delicious. I became great friends with the staff, who are all wonderful and super courteous. Well done Soba Totto.

I had dinner here solo while my husband was out of town for work. I was craving good soba and since I love Totto ramen I decided to try their soba house. Solid broth, terrific noodles. Would definitely come again.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Japanese restaurants in the area.
Soba was really good. Had great service. Didn't have to wait at all to be seated. Would definitely come again.

The first thing I noticed before entering was the B health grade, which made me a little wary. I decided to eat here anyway. I arrived a little before the restaurant opened at 6 and the bartender was very kind even though I wasn't ordering drinks and was just waiting for table service. The rest of the wait staff was also kind. I ordered a cold soba which was perfectly cooked, but the portion was so small. I was expecting a small portion for the price and and the restaurant, but I was still surprised. I also ordered at 5 choice Kushikatsu, with 3 dipping sauces. I ordered salmon, shrimp, sausagex2, and quail egg. Again, it was good, but so small. I would recommend getting 2 or 3 regular yakitori for around the same price. The meal ended with sobayu mind with sauce and hot tea which I requested. Overall, it was a good meal but I wasn't fully satisfied because of the small sizes. I would prefer a larger price tag to go with a large plate.

Came for lunch on a weekday, having easily made a reservation through Resy. I had the Sansai kinoko soba, which was great - the broth in particular was amazing. The sashimi was also really good. Service was great. Definitely recommended for a midtown lunch that's on the nicer side, but not overly fancy.
Be the first to ReplySobo totto is really 2 restaurants: a fast Japanese lunch
Sobo totto is really 2 restaurants: a fast Japanese lunch spot, and a sophisticated yakitori place. Dinner highlights include: ankimo, fried mini octopus, salmon oyako ( don't miss), chicken in shisito pepper, plain soba with seaweed , chicken meatballs and the cake with black sesame ice cream. The tongue was very good once and ok another time ย normally, I'd give 4 stars but the service is so great. Very knowledgeable saki advice. Also, my DD has many allergies and the wait staff and the chef were happy to go the extra mile. Make sure you ask for the dessert menu!
Be the first to ReplyI come here regularly for lunch.
The rice bowl with uni, ikura or salmon sashimi is outstanding. I always add a small salad which comes with a tasty sauce. The staff is very nice and quick. If you need to, you can be in and out in 30 minutes flat. The place is very popular, so you need to queue up outside at 11:45 am for lunch otherwise you will be facing a wait.

Food was really delicious but service was slow and confusing. We were asked three times by three different severs if we wanted dessert and once was before we finished our main meal due to some of the food coming out so slowly. Dessert (Mille crepe cake with ice cream) took 20 minutes to come. Otherwise great!

The best Japanese food I've had outside of Japan, hands down. The soba is world class, the Yakitori is (surprisingly) just as good, and there's a phenomenal sake selection. Outstanding service and reasonable prices, to boot. Deserving of much more than just the "mention" it got from Michelin.
