Outstanding sushi and respectable prices - thank you!
The sushi here is better than Katsu-Ya, but with less attentive service. I finally found a better-tasting sushi restaurant with respectable pricing as I'm done with Katsu-Ya for various reasons. The fish, flavors, freshness, quality, and presentation is outstanding here. Perhaps the best Albacore I've had in a long time, including SugarFish. The menu variety is massive - especially compared to the size of the dining room. As a result, be prepared to wait after adding your name to the waitlist, as this location is only open on certain days of the week. Don't expect the most hospitable service as they're just so busy; I don't believe anyone has time to make the customers feel welcomed. I'm nervous to mention this place as any good sushi in the West SFV becomes inundated with customers and impossible to get a table. I certainly hope this place retains its small storefront charm and outstanding pricing and taste.

COVID-19 times; I have ordered to go and have done outdoor dining. The times I have gone they have adjusted to health protocols each time. My most recent visit was when outdoor dining has resumed in Los Angeles. They put a partition between the parking lot and the tables outside. They are equipped with heat lamps which is a must in winter. Service is always good and the food is always even better. The menu is smaller, but there are also specials posted on the front of the restaurant.
The stuffed squid was something different to try. I wouldn't get it not because it wasn't good, but because there are better things to have on the menu. Bomb.com had some spice to it and is topped with small pieces of sashimi. It is also rolled in a white paper (vegan?) instead of seaweed. A must. The toro is always so fresh and literally melts in your mouth.
A fish journey like you have never experienced!
Reading reviews about sushi and restaurants in general can be difficult as soooo many so-called foodies do not have any clue of what truly FRESH protein is. Quality to me is more important that all the bells and whistles which are usually there just to mask the not so lovely cut of meat or filet of fish. When it comes to real fresh and delicious sushi, less is/should be more! This restaurant, So Sushi and So Sushi Also, import their fish fresh daily/weekly from Tokyo, Spain, Japan, and more... The taste and quality is absolutely evident and if you have never experience a true sushi journey, you will have your first one here!
The top reasons I love this mom and pop shop are the following:
WONDERFUL SERVICE AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Ryo (one of the owners and head chefs) is beyond knowledgable and hospitable. He really takes his time to communicate and educate his customers, teaching the traditional ways of eating sushi as they do in Japan, eating particular fish first such as snappers, to properly prepare the palette for the sushi journey ahead.
MOST FRESH AND DECADENT FISH AND SHELLFISH- QUALITY IS THROUGH THE ROOF AND NOT OVERLY PRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET: The sushi speaks for itself. If you have never ate a piece of raw fish, experiencing it as CANDY that almost melts in your mouth, then you don't know what sushi is. As I mentioned, the fish is imported fresh and you are told exactly from where and what town within the country if you wish to know. The quality is only comparable to one other sushi restaurant I have been to which I was referred by Mark Wahlberg's personal private chef. If you choose to experience the chef's choice tasting, you can let him know your appetitive, likes and dislikes, and budget and he will take you on a sushi ride that you will never forget!
Do yourself a favor and TRY IT! My group was 3 people/adults with heavy appetites and foodie taste buds. My father who was with me is a retired chef, sushi chef, fisherman, and butcher and was blown away! We had two large bottles of saki, wine, and everyone ate till they were very full/satisfied, we also allowed the chef to pick his best cuts and choices and our bill was approx. $170 for all that. A very good deal considering the quality and amount we consumed including alcohol. We also arrived right when they opened (5:30pm) and had no issue getting seats at the sushi bar. The place is tiny though and did fill up so reservations may be necessary depending on the day and time. Enjoy!
A whole buffet of fun
Wonderful food to meet a wide variety of tastes very well priced and family friendly . Parking easy . A cultural explosion

Anytime a restaurant does a Yelp waitlist it is a big bonus for the establishment.
I didn't do my part on my end and check Yelp for that and I found out when I arrived at the restaurant. The wait wasn't a big deal though because I waited about 15 minutes for a table.
I was really hungry and I was craving sushi so I had the Roll Lover and SO Strong. The Roll Lover is 5 rolls which consist of Rainbow, Spicy Tuna, Crunchy, Spicy Albacore and Spicy Shellfish. I loved all of the sushi. The fish was fresh and delicious. Even the basic spicy tuna and spicy albacore had fresh fish in it. It was so cute how the tables were placed diagonally on the table. Presentation is two thumbs up. SO Strong was SO good! I am salivating as I type this. Lol. It is a dynamite roll, but twenty times better. There were muscles and scallops and it was so delicious. I am definitely coming back here again!!!
Incredible sushi
Some of the best sushi I’ve had in the valley! The staff is super friendly and every roll was delicious. So Just Eat roll option A is absolutely incredible. I asked for a rock n roll and they made a great rendition as well

One of the best sushi restaurants in the valley actually one of our two favorites, I won't mention the other one, but the fish here is so fresh and the tastes are so refreshing this is absolutely a must
Be the first to ReplySushi was great- service was slow
So Sushi offers many unique sushi choices. The menu is extensive. We tried several different rolls and were. It disappointed. The atmosphere is not pretentious, and the staff is friendly. The only thing that put a bit of a damper on things was, the staff was very inattentive and service was slow. It was pretty busy, so they may have just been overwhelmed, but drinks weren’t refilled and it was hard to even place our order. Otherwise- it was a decent spot.

I was meeting a business associate who recommended So Sushi. I have my local favorites, so wasn't sure what to expect. What a nice surprise! I'm not an adventurous eater, but ordered the I ordered the So Happy roll (Inside: tuna, albacore, imitation crab spicy mix. Top: sliced yellowtail, yuzu pepper, sea salt and lemon juice) and the So Simple roll (Cucumber wrap instead of rice: Spicy Tuna, Shellfish, Shrimp Tempura, Avocado). Fresh and Delish! Sat at the Sushi Bar, and the chefs are friendly and suggested a few items not on the menu. My husband and I tried to go last Saturday night, but the line was out the door.
