Loved Sixty Three Clinton! Heard a lot of great things
Loved Sixty Three Clinton! Heard a lot of great things about this place from friends and finally got the chance to try. Booked about 2 weeks prior and only 1 time slot was available for multiple days, so make sure you book as early as possible! The place was a little difficult to find like many Michelin star restaurants but we managed to find it ok. Food was amazing, service was great! I can really see why this place deserves a Michelin star. We were attended very attentively from the moment we walked in, there was not a single moment when I felt like I couldn't find someone to fill my water or answer my questions. And like all upscale restaurants, they had very thorough explanations for the food. The food was so delicious, and very worth it for the price in terms of fancy restaurants, $112/person. Each course had an amazing mixture of flavors and honestly decent amount as well. My favorites were the scallop, perfectly fresh and great combination with peanuts in their sauce; followed by the lamb dish, it was so tender and really brings out the natural flavor of the lamb. Overall, the restaurant was amazing, also pretty romantic ambiance, would be great for date night, but honestly I would recommend for any occasion!
Be the first to ReplyI actually don't know how they get one star Michelin.
Food is ok but the taco breakfast is pretty salty to my taste, the potatoes chawanmushi is way too rich and creamy with egg york, cheese, crunchy fried shallots made me couldn't eat finish the second spoons, we substituted shrimps and grits with Langoustine, my friend said there is no flavor.. I think it's fine, food is just not good. It's ok Wait staff is nice but we unfortunately sit next to the most loudest Millennium couple that took their FaceTime, turned on TikTok and talked very loud like they were fighting.. for 2.5 hrs torture.. we are dead The co-owner Raymond came to every table that has young girls to talk but ignored our table lol.. terrible experience, not worth the price.
Be the first to ReplyService: 5/5 Food: 4.
5/5 Ambiance: casual, but can still work for a romantic date night or special occasion spot The staff is so friendly + accommodating. Don't be put off by a 9pm dinner service, especially if you want a more intimate evening. What I Ordered: Mocktail (orange, cardamom, ginger beer)- perfectly balanced, not too sweet Breakfast Taco- highly recommend you add uni, that was my favorite part. potato was crispy, but the tortilla could've been softer Ajoblanco Scallop- chiltepin irritated my sensitive throat, but I still really liked this dish scallops were fresh + sweet Potato Chawanmushi- so well executed + comforting to me! favorite dish of the night + very unexpected for a steamed egg dish Cheddar Bay Biscuit- butter wasn't that flavorful + it was a little dry for me, but still brought the nostalgia of the famed Red Lobster version Shrimp + Grits- pretty standard. chili crisp was not at all spicy + I wish it came with 2 shrimps Lamb Loin + Belly- first time for me + I loved both! perfectly cooked + paired Poached Pear- it was good, but I felt like it didn't achieve it's peak potential. cream anglaise never disappoints for me Basque Cheesecake- loved the touch of flaky salt + olive oil. still can't decide how I feel about the sherry muscat grapes.
Be the first to ReplySixty Three Clinton is a great spot in the Lower East Side.
Like The Musket Room it's a fairly affordable (compared to most) Michelin Star restaurant offering a 7 course tasting menu. The space is broken up into two rooms - one with bar seating and counter seating with a view of the kitchen, the other is a proper dining room. The current tasting menu offered; Breakfast Taco - a signature dish of the restaurant, I opted to add uni which was additional. This is an excellent first bite. Diver Scallop - raw scallop cut up and mixed with a cold like soup broth. The scallop was fresh and delicious, the soup which I believe was mix of miso, lemon, and horseradish was rather refreshing and a good accompaniment to the scallop. Potato Chawanmushi - I added black truffle as an additional accompaniment. This was incredible, one of the best dishes I've ever had. It's cheddar, Benton ham, and egg yolk in an egg custard. It was like having the best potato skin ever. It also came with the nights bread service of a Comte biscuit which was also amazing. Shrimp N Grits - one shrimp deep fried like tempura on top of some grits. Nothing bad about it, though it was my least favorite of the meal. Duck A L'Orange - Sixty Three Clinton's take on the dish was excellent. The tender duck mixed with five spices and the grilled cabbage accompaniment were great. Poached Pear - a very solid dessert bite. Basque Cheesecake - I'm not a big cheesecake fan but this was one of the best cheesecakes I've had. This was light, perfect amount of sweetness, and delicious. The service at Sixty Three Clinton was phenomenal. The whole staff was very nice and explained each dish thoroughly without coming off as pretentious. Highly recommend.
Be the first to Replythis might be one of my favorite restaurants in nyc.
their tasting menu was absolutely amazing. every dish was delicious for me including their signature like the breakfast taco and the caviar hand roll. I loved their take on shrimp and grits as well. their cocktails are also amazing. i highly recommend their white negroni. staff was super friendly as well. will definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyReally cozy and intimate space.
Service was really attentive and friendly- there was a rotation of people stopping by to deliver and present each dish in the course. The dishes offered in the tasting menu changes seasonally and I appreciate the fact that they can accommodate substitutions for certain dishes. The creativity in combo of flavors is definitely amazing. Some dishes however was really salty but overall, great experience with great food and ambience.
Be the first to ReplyI would take a loan out to eat here again.
The service is supreme. Make a reservation and be on time because they seat immediately ( which I loved). We ordered the full tasting menu and I give every course 10/10. Most Michelin star restaurants focus too much on the experience, not 63 C. There's a nice balance with the star being the incredible flavors of the food. The vibe in the restaurant is nice for a first date or a 50th anniversary. The bartender makes some of the best drinks in the city. We ordered a white Negroni and a dirt Martini. The caviar hand-roll is a must. It's on my list of top 5 things I've ever eaten!
Be the first to ReplyA fine restaurant with delicious food.
The menu rotates very often, so the dishes and flavors you see will likely be different each visit. Our menu heavily emphasized Southern flavors, perhaps a bit too much. Breakfast taco (3/5) - Was hyped for this, but found it to be boring. The taco is fluffy, the potato is crispy, and salmon roe bursts with umami. However, there wasn't anything impressive about the flavors. Caviar handroll (4/5) - Simple but delicious. Caviar, sushi rice, wasabi - it tastes great! Heard that the amount of caviar they give is well worth the $55 supplement price. They definitely give a generous amount of caviar, but it doesn't feel like so when eating the handroll. Bluefin tuna (4/5) - Bluefin tuna was rich and melts in your mouth and the ice-flavored cucumber was a delightful surprise. The sourness of the tomato broth elevated the tuna. Corn agnolotti (4/5) - The stuffed pasta was delicious, the pasta was cooked well and the stuffing was creamy. The sauce had Southern flavors and the corn provided a delightful sweetness. Caraflex cabbage (5/5) - My favorite dish of the night. The comte cheese, sauces, hazelnuts are a magical combination and a beautiful crunch from the hazelnuts and cabbage. Pork (3/5) - My main problem with this menu is that there are way too many of the same strong flavors (southern flavors). After the third dish, it becomes too repetitive and boring. Japanese milk bread (4.5/5) - Has a delightful sourness and is super fluffy with a crispy exterior. With the butter, it is incredible. Not complementary however, had to pay around $10 for a second loaf. Meringue with granola crust (4/5) - The meringue was beautifully done, with a crispy top. The dessert was creamy and salty and sweet, amazing! Elevated Reese's pieces (5/5) - The chocolate was so smooth and rich and silky and buttery, done perfectly. The crust is salty and crunchy. Felt similar to the previous dessert which is disappointing, but nevertheless delicious. Overall, a delicious meal but just felt a bit cheap and flat for "fine dining" in ingredients and flavors.

5: Sixty Three Clinton offers a seasonal menu focusing on modern American fare. We came here for a group dinner, trying their 7-course menu: +Breakfast Taco - with ajitama, salsa verde, and trout roe +Boston Mackerel - prepared with turnip, white miso, yuzu, and horseradish; wasn't a fan of the turnip; the fish was slightly fishy +Potato-Leek Soup - including littleneck clams and a cheddar bay biscuit +Caraflex Cabbage - with comte, nori, and hazelnuts; this was served with a Hokkaido milk bread for the leftover sauce +Turkey Roulade - served with cornbread, gravy, and lingonberries +Green Apple Sorbet - served with creme anglaise and oatmeal crumble +Honeynut Squash Cremeux - with gingerbread and caramel We also opted for adding the caviar handroll, which we were disappointed in; wasn't really impressed with the quality of it. Overall, the meal was just okay; the space was intimate, and I liked the foliage artwork and the cozy setting. Service was nice and attentive. +friendly service

I went to Sixty Three Clinton to celebrate my one year anniversary and Raymond and his team treated us to one of the most special nights we could've had. The service was incredible!! We laughed all night long with the staff and they couldn't have been more personable. Food was fantastic, Umeboshi Fizz cocktail was excellent, and the champagne we had went perfectly with our meal. 10/10 would recommend and will most definitely be dining here in the near future :)
Be the first to ReplyIt was a fun experience with friends.
Came here a week ago and did the tasting menu. The food, service and the staff were great. The best dish I had was the breakfast taco and the pork rib. The sake selection we that we had recommended went well with everything.

I was really excited to go here - I had heard rave reviews from my husband's friend a few months prior and it kept showing up in my Instagram. Unfortunately while the service and ambiance here is top notch, the food was only ok to me. The best course was definitely the breakfast taco but all of the other courses were one dimensional and nothing special.I wanted to rate this place higher but it is a three because it is only ok and at this price point, only ok is not acceptable.
Be the first to ReplyDined alone on a random Tuesday and I'm really glad I did.
Great value on the meal (I also ordered the caviar roll). Service was great - rotating servers explained the dishes, but the main person who checked on me was kind and encouraging. Sat at the bar and it was nice to watch the drinks being made. Overall a positive experience - want to bring my husband and friends here.

Seated really quickly and the reception was amazing. The lights and atmosphere was a nice touch.

This tasting menu was incredible! One of the most memorable experiences I've had in NYC by far. Even though the menu changes (seasonally I think) I look forward to coming back and having the breakfast taco again! Next time I'll definitely splurge on the caviar hand roll too. Lastly, the customer service was a 1000/10. All of our waiters were SO kind and personable. So much love for this place.

Amazing experience! My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and the staff was so kind and constantly attentative. They gave us a little glass of champagne to celebrate and since they noticed it was our first time there and our anniversary, they offered to move us to the intimate and romantic little bar space where you could watch the chefs prepare all the food (but also offered to put as at a table if we preferred that instead!). The food was excellent, a fusion of what I'd call New American/American and Japanese. Everything, even down to the Hokkaido milk bread, was so so delicious, and it's extremely affordable for a NYC seven course fixed menu ($92). Highly recommend!!

Phenomenal service, amazing food, staff was very accommodating for dietary restrictions. Lovely ambiance with great seating. Definitely deserves the Michelin star

This is probably the best value to quality ratio that you can find in NYC. For 7 courses, it only costs $92! Amazing tasting menu and SUCH a great value. The menu changes often so you can go for a completely new experience. We made a reservation via Resy a few weeks prior because this spot fills up fast! There's a couple seats at the kitchen counter that are highly coveted because the kitchen is an open layout so you can enjoy the meal while watching the food being cooked at the counter table, dinner and a show! Recommend grabbing one of these seats!Since it was my SO's birthday, we started out by getting complimentary champagnes. The quality of the champagne was great, such soft bubbles! The night then progressed with the 7-course tasting menu with the below items: Breakfast taco Bluefin tuna nicoise Agnolotti pasta Japanese Sweet Potato Coconut Squash Soup Berkshire pork short rib Baked AlaskaMy favorites:-Breakfast taco: this had smoked trout roe, it was the fanciest taco I've ever had. The trout roe was lightly smoked and had a pleasant mild flavor. Sometimes I find fish roe to be too fishy for me but this one was great! The tortilla was a thicker corn tortilla so it added a nice bite texture-wise-Agnolotti pasta: this pasta was like a burst in your mouth party experience. The pasta was so al dente, very chewy and then you bite into the warm cheese filling that just bursts with flavor!!!!-Baked Alaska: this dessert is epic. I've had baked Alaska many times but this is a baked Alaska with more bells and whistles. The ice cream was a mild strawberry ice cream which was complemented by a lemon cake base on the bottom. It was just the right amount of sweet to finish up the meal. The servers were so knowledgeable and attentive to our needs too! Really enjoyed this dining experience, we will definitely be back to celebrate another special occasion in the near future! For the video version, check out my IG: @alice.likes.food

Unfortunately, we did not have a pleasant experience at 63 clinton.food - 3/5wine/drink - 2/5service - 1/5price - 2/5ambience - 2/5let's talk about food first. Overall, many dishes were too salty (especially breakfast taco). caviar roll was alright (extra $55) and my favorite was squash soup. Other than these two, I can't think of a dish that I wish to try again. Dry rye sourdough was burnt (it is also black), they can definitely substitute to different type of bread if they want to serve bread with soup. Food was okay, not Michelin starred great. They are lacking attention to detail as you can see pix of my breakfast taco, egg was not cut clean..Next is wine and drinks.. they get 2/5 because of bad wine selection they have (for glass wine). cocktail were meh... They do not have wine pairing at this time and I am so glad they don't. Not only they charge $24-26 for a glass of wine that are $25 for a bottle, but they do not pair with food menu at all (we ordered 2 glasses of red and white which were recommended by the waiter). service.. wow. service was really disappointing for a Michelin star restaurant. Either they were super short staff that day or they are just working like a robot. We did not even have time to ask one simple/quick question because they dropped off the dishes and literally ran away kind of type. They were walking so fast in the tiny restaurant and made me feel so anxious watching.. also waiter forgot to bring silverware for our table.. so we had to ask chef? kitchen staff (whoever brought our dishes) to bring silverwares.. and we ended up eating ravioli with tea spoons smhprice.. price is not that expensive tbh, but was it worth of $450? Not at all.. ambience - chill and cozy vibe, but once again.. everyone here was literally jogging around to deliver dishes so quickly, totally ruined restaurant's ambience. this place can be cozy and quiet depend on the crowd.. they had a table for 6 that night and it was so loud and table next to us was taking pictures with bright lights.. it was just hot mess (it's not their faults, but they could have said something to those who have no common sense).Overall, I won't come back again.. I am not sure if they will keep a star next year.

Loved the food & a great value for a tasting menu of this quality! Stand outs for us were the breakfast taco, the congee, and the egg dish. Will definitely be back.

Went to this place about a month ago and it's one of my favorite new restaurants in the cityStaff was super friendly and relatable. They joke around with you and make you feel like you're very welcomed. They were good at explaining dishes and their origin.Food was soooo good and creative. Love how they use the pizza oven left by the previous tenant to maximize the tastes of their dishes. Here are some of my unedited notes I wrote down after:- tofu had a very unique texture and was homemade- congee was so comforting as the owner says but also has lots of distinct flavors added to it like the sunchoke sauce and unagi- himachi was smokey- breakfast taco puts you in the mood and the roe pops nicely- caviar handroll was also good and the exec chef serves it table side- chicken and mushroom dishes were cooked nicely and smelled pungently delicious. love the sauces too- THE BREAD WAS BAKEDSOOO GOOD. THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF HARD SHELL AND THE INSIDE WAS SO SOFT AND TASTY. i wish i had more- baked alaska was a good ending, they use their brick over to toast the marshmallowwouldn't be surprised if they get a michelin star this year. the video on eater about this place is not cap
Be the first to ReplyIf you ever wondered what michelin star service feels like
If you ever wondered what michelin star service feels like but not michelin starred (yet), this definitely should be on your list to hit! Sixty Three Clinton offers a 7 course meal for $92 with the option to add other menu options, notably their caviar handroll.Reservations here were definitely not easy to get. We booked three weeks in advance and managed a reservation for four on a Wednesday night. The menu is seasonal but here is what we had:Breakfast Taco - smoked trout and roeHamachi Diver ScallopsCongeeSweet Potato (optional w/ truffles)Green Circle ChickenBaked Alaska + additional Caviar RollEvery dish was very unique and was presented as well as it looks. My favorite dishes were the Congee, Diver Scallops, and baked Alaska. I've had congee a few times in fine dining, and they have always exceeded expectations. The congee here at 63 Clinton is no exception. One of their main signature dish is the caviar handroll. The co-owner/michelin starred executive chef Sam, comes to the table where he prepares each roll in front of you! Okay so let's talk about this service and background. The service is probably one of the best I've ever had in any fine/non-fine dining restaurant. Every server/hostess that we encountered were very friendly and personable. They really make it feel like it is their home and they're giving you their warmest welcome. The staff were super informative on every dish. The ambience is definitely more on the lowkey but chill vibes. I absolutely loved the size of our table for four. Background decor was on point. Even the bathroom was really well maintained and themed (something that's not frequently talked about a lot, but it is something people note!). Aside from the amazing food and time we spent here, a big appreciation definitely goes to the owners Ray and Sam for having an amazing line of staff that really brings this fine dining experience to life.

I lost count of how many times I got on the waitlist for a table at Sixty Three Clinton with no luck. The allure grew and grew, along with my expectations. Usually, that's a recipe for disappointment. At Sixty Three Clinton, I was only dazzled. Our waiter told us that pre-pandemic, the two chefs -- both with incredible pedigrees -- planned for the restaurant to be a luxe tasting menu (think EMP or Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare level). However, once COVID had wreacked havoc on our lives, our city, and particularly the service industry, they pivoted significantly such that they could provide a much more affordable tasting menu (seven courses for $92 with several options for luxe add-ons for those wanting an extra fancy moment). So many folks have struggled financially in the past few years, so this commitment to more accessibility is meaningful. The space is gorgeous, the food is gorgeous (and just the right amount -- we were not left too hungry or too full) -- an impeccable job all around.Came here at 9pm on a Saturday night. I would say the space is more upscale than most restaurants on the Lower East Side, but still not fancy. Modern vibe, uplifted by the speed of the servers -- while service was a tad slow at times, the pace at which folks move and talk here is fast but not reckless, like an impressive choreography. Drink-wise, they've got a short list of classic cocktails (though they can probably make any classic you'd like even if it's not on the menu), a short list of wines by the glass, an optional wine pairing (next visit I think we will try this, as the wine pours here are on the small side so I wouldn't worry about getting sloshed from a wine pairing) or by the bottle. I first ordered a Tuxedo #2, which is a riff on a martini featuring maraschino liquor, and my fiancé got the daiquiri. Both delicious. I then got a dirty martini (I asked for it extra dirty, and they went so far as to bring me three extra olives -- in addition to those already in my glass! Bless, seriously.) and finished with a yummy glass of white. The food is of course where Sixty Three Clinton really shines. The menu is eclectic American with both U.S. and international influences. Fun, elegant, sophisticated and creative. It is exactly the right amount of food and it is all truly divine. I did not manage to get pictures of every dish, but I'll speak briefly to all. Eats, below:Breakfast Taco w/ ajitama, hash brown, smoked trout roe: A+An homage to the restauranteurs' Arizonian roots, this is the fanciest breakfast taco you'll probably. So flavorful and fun, the roe giving it even more of a punch than it already would've hadHamachi Crudo w/ red mandarin, tardivo: A+So fresh and tasty, with delicate but pronounced flavors. Diver Scallop (or in my case, tuna) w/ sonora beans and chestnut: AI can't eat scallops so I was planning on giving mine to my fiancé but they graciously subbed a small piece of tuna instead for me. Probably the least exciting of the menu but it's all relative.Congee w/ white asparagus and fava bean: A+Super glammed up rice and beans with Asian influence. Beautiful green color, hearty, warming and very flavorful.Sweet Potato w/ compte, furikake (plus addition of perigord truffle): A++Definitely one of the stars of the night. We tried one with and without the truffles, and the truffles were oh so decadent. This take on a stuffed baked potato is one big umami bomb in the best wayGreen Circle Chicken w/ miso-mole, king trumpet mushroom: A+The miso-mole sauce was a thing of dreams, the earthiness pairing beautifully with the mushrooms. The chicken was moist and juicy with perfectly crispy skin.Baked Alaska w/ strawberry and cardamom: A A nice, light take on this classic. I'm not really a fruity dessert person but I do like meringue. The strawberry provided a nice palette cleanse to round out the meal.

3.5 stars, but service issues have me rounding down.It wasn't my decision to come here, so I walked in with absolutely no expectations. We did the current tasting menu ($92), which consisted of:Breakfast Taco: ajitama, hash brown, trout roe- Great starter with just the right amount of crunch and umamiCaviar Hand Roll- A supplement we splurged on that was perfect for two to share. Very generous amounts of caviar, though the roll could've been better made (it fell apart in our hands)Bluefin Tuna: red mandarin, tardivo- I don't eat bluefin tuna for ethical reasons, so I had them sub in grilled veggies for my share. Very tasty mandarin sauce.Diver Scallop: sonora beans, chestnut- Forgettable. I seriously don't even remember eating this.Congee: white asparagus, fava bean, pea shoots, langoustine- The best dish of the night, IMO. This ain't your Taiwanese po po's congee, that's for sure but it ain't bad either. I loved the addition of pea shoots, and the supplemental langoustine we splurged on was worth it. It was so tender, I could cut it with my spoon.Sweet Potato: comte, furikake- Nah. I hate sweet mixed with savory, so I generally think sweet potatoes and their ilk are an abomination of nature. I wished they'd used regular potatoes, sunchokes, or something else starchy and neutral.Green Circle Chicken: miso mole, king trumpet mushroom- The chicken/sausage mix was a bit too salty for me, and I could've used more than a lonely trunk of a trumpet mushroom as a side. Not sure what they were going for with this one, but it fell flat for me.Baked Alaska: frozen strawberry sorbet, cardamom cake- Very ambitious to cover a semi-frozen sorbet with meringue, but that they did. Lovely and refreshing, though I would've preferred more cardamom cake, less sorbet. Cardamom is life, folks. It needs to be eaten more. For drinky drinks, I just got a glass of crisp Sauvignon Blanc. There weren't any other beverages to choose from (cocktails, beer, etc.).Ambience: Cozy, quietly hip (playlist includes Zeppelin and Clapton), but too dark. The kind of dark where you have to turn on your phone's flashlight or else your cataracts will bleed from trying to read the menu. The kind of dark where you need an Android's amazing Night Side mode just to take decent photos (the iPhone could never). The kind of dark where the cute candle on the table is just decoration because it sheds about as much illumination as a fork. Service: Mostly friendly servers--some overly friendly at times--but with pacing issues. I get it--like most NYC restaurants, they're short-staffed and doing their best. But expect long gaps between courses (20+ min) and for a normal 1.5-hr dinner to take more than 2 hours. Also, all the servers sounded rehearsed when they talked about the menu. Like, they'd been trained to cram a ton of info into very hurried speeches and to launch into such speeches anytime a question was asked about the food/drink. It didn't sound natural and kind of made me stop asking questions after a while.

Got surprised with a much more expensive specialized menu for Valentine's Day when we thought we would be ordering off the regular (and much cheaper) menu. It definitely wasn't worth the huge sticker price but maybe we will come back when the regular menu is an option. Most of the dishes were unremarkable but the homemade bread was amazing and definitely stood out.
