One of the worst eating experiences ever
Second time at this place. Not going to use the word restaurant Wasn’t happy first time thought to be fair will try again Went for their trust event 10 course taster menu where you trust the chef You are given a blank menu and you describe what you think you have been given I’m not going to comment on the menu as i cant fit all the words required into this review lets say several people left midway through the experience , we stayed on to give it a chance I dont think i have ever experienced anything quite like it in my life. If there are minus stars 🌟 i would give it 100. Dont do it
Sooooo disappointed.
Very disappointed. The first three courses were completely lacking in texture and substance, mainly a pretty assortment of mush on a plate. The portion sizes are incredibly small. Do not come here hungry. I did mention upon leaving that I had never left a tasting menu before feeling that I need to go get a pizza and was told that I maybe should have ordered more snacks in addition to the tasting menu. In hindsight maybe I should have, but I would have thought six courses would have been ample. My mistake, had I been advised that the portions were minuscule at the start, I may have done so. At a spend of £42 per person plus drinks, I would not have expected to leave hungry.
Great value, service and food
What amazing food and service. A fine dinning experience at very reasonable prices. Hayley, the server was friendly, informative and enhanced the whole evening. The Amalfi menu was a festival of flavour and a stage to show exemplary culinary skills. 2nd time of going there and am already looking out for future menus to have an excuse to go again.
Stay away
Amalfi experience was a very disappointing 6 out of 10 for this restaurant (maybe that is where the name comes from?) and the reason why it is not lower is because of the kindness of the staff. Presentation was incredibly poor, taste was mostly OK bit nothing to get too excited about. First dish (Parmesan polenta), for instance, looked like a very sad watery porridge even though it tasted ok. You can see a picture of it in someone else’s reviews here. Presentation didn’t improve much after that. The Heirloom tomato was mediocre, and the pancetta ham jam (part of dish 5) was a very small mess of fatty and excessively salty mush. We shared the add-on of fried seafood mix as a starter which looked and tasted straight from the freezer section of the supermarket, only costed a lot more at £10. The ice cream in the dessert had started to melt, even the waitress apologised for this. We’d been here before and enjoyed the experience which is why my daughter chose it for her birthday but will never come back and will definitely not recommend it either. We ate the food as we were starving but think we would’ve been a lot better off spending our money elsewhere. A lot more is and should be expected from a restaurant at this price range.

Sad not up to previous standard and we did not think it was good value for money this time!
We have always enjoyed going to Six by Nico's in the past and were really looking forward to the Mexican themed meal. We were met by a gentleman on entering the restaurant and he was lovely and showed us to our table. I needed to go to the toilet and my other half ordered the wine, then he nipped to the toilet and I asked the supervisor if we could wait until he came back before first course was served, my request obviously fell on deaf ears as one minute later a waitress arrived, before he had come back with the first course and proceeded to start her speech about what it was, so I asked her pleasantly if she would mind waiting until he came back, which she then did, but we felt very rushed. The other courses were okay but not as tasty as the many previous times we have been there. When the bill came we were a bit annoyed that more than ten per cent for service charge had been added - we always pay cash and give ten per cent, which is what we did. We then went on to a show, but still felt a bit hungry, which we have never done before. The prices have gone up so much over the last few years, like many other restaurants, however, we are not sure if we will go back or not, as didn't feel this time that it was value for money. We will probably give them one more chance to improve and go back to the great experience it always was.
Disappointed family
Having previously visited this restaurant, on this occasion I wished to pay by gift voucher. However, 2 days prior to our booking, I realised the expensive gift vouchers had only 4 month validity and they were out of date. I had contacted HQ in the hope that good judgement and some goodwill could be applied. Unfortunately, no one got back to us, in fact, I am still waiting on a response. Additionally, on top of the bill, they applied a £30 service charge for the privilege of such poor customer service and what feels like their unfair contract terms! I will not be visiting again.
Lovely food, nearly 18% tip added to bill bit shocking
Loved the food but discretionary tip nearly 18% this time! £21 for £118 is getting a bit steep. Staff were very polite when we asked to have this removed and add our own tip. In UK I think 10% is sufficient as we have a minimum wage unlike USA where tips are essential. I just find this a bit disappointing and it took the shine off a lovely meal. Mexico as a theme was very enjoyable. Really clever use of simple ingredients could be a lesson to high end restaurants failing in Belfast.
Yet another discretionary service charge, 12.5% this time
Yet again i have been bullied and embarrassed into paying a discretionary service charge and this time it was 12.5%. These practices are beyond disappointing. Moving forward we will avoid all restaurants that adopt this practice as we always tip but this is pressure to conform even if the service is poor as you have to create a scene. The restaurants can disagree with this but they would. Thanks for the 50% off mailing list offer the next day just to slap us in the face for the same menu we had the previous day.
Such a disappointment with very poor quality food
My husband and I had been looking forward to the evening having had an extremely enjoyable meal previously. I suppose the tone was set by the guy on the front desk. We arrived slightly early and despite there being 13 free tables for two he refused to seat us. At the table beside us were two delightful ladies from New York one of whom was Puerto Rican and both having extensive knowledge of Mexican food (that evenings menu). At one point one of them leaned over and asked if we were enjoying our meal, we then passed a very enjoyable evening discussing how awful the food was. My tostada tasted and smelt awful and I couldn’t eat it. The Calcot onions (scallions) were forgettable. The portion of sea bass was the size of a bus ticket. The chicken was tender and utter tasteless. The cake for dessert was like a bath mat - it’s meant to be hard cried our waitress!!! Our friend at the table beside us said that six by nico wouldn’t last 5 minutes in New York. I agree with this quality of food and service I don’t think it will be with us for much longer. Smoke and mirrors!!
Vietnam/Hanoi/Amazing
Food and service was excellent. Lovely menu and wine accompaniments for absolutely amazing. Special thanks to Kealan who explained everything so well.
Wonderful "Hanoi" experience
Had a lunchtime "Hanoi" themed visit, which I think is the best of the several times we have been there. Staff really great, food terrific, and the paired wines spot on. love it!
Not exactly “discretionary”!
I really enjoyed the dining experience at this restaurant on Mothers Day. The food was absolutely beautiful, each course was full of flavour and nicely presented. The Hanoi menu is my favorite theme so far. I noticed that a “discretionary” 12.5% would be applied to the bill. When our server presented us with the bill, she explained that this charge was included in the total but could be deducted if required. I’m sorry, this just did not sit well with me. I like to tip for good service at MY discretion, I certainly don’t want the management to apply a percentage, determined by them. Also, it embarrasses the customer if they ask to deduct it. Each course was served by a different person, all very polite and cleared away by another server. We didn’t have an opportunity to engage with anyone in particular and at times the service for wine, water etc was a little slow. I never leave a restaurant without leaving a tip but this setup is totally unacceptable. However, as mentioned, the food was enjoyable.
Ok, but wouldn’t go again
Badly organised, we arrived for 7:15 sitting and stood in a queue for 20 minutes…we were lucky, people were queuing outside in the rain (no bar area to wait). After being seated it didn’t take long for the first course to arrive, I enjoyed most of the courses, plus the explanations from the waiter, my husband thought that some of the courses didn’t gel with him. I had the vegetarian option, he had the standard menu. Overall it was a good experience but I wouldn’t go again. Didn’t really get an apology for the waiting time, and service charge automatically added which I don’t like
DISAPPOINTED
The food was not great at all, with a lot of our party leaving a lot of the dishes. A lot of the restaurant then began to empty and there was a lots of cleaning up going on around us while we were trying to enjoy the evening. Some sort of humming fan was going on whilst the cleaning was taking place and there was no background music on. When it came to the bill, someone eventually dropped it to our table and there was an extra £50 added on and a £30 service charge. We were then told there was no WiFi and that we couldn't pay by card, and that we were only able to use the credit card used initially for the booking, and then told there was a cash machine outside if we wanted to pay in cash! I then queried the bill and after the original waitress saying 'oh I put that on by mistake earlier and I forgot to take it off' we decided not to pay the service charge. So the bill went from £300 down to £225. So not worth the money and will definitely not be back. A very disappointing experience and atmosphere was awful. Looking around we could see other guests felt the same!
Awful
So disappointed! We went last night table was booked for 9pm food not good too much salt and some dishes cold. But the worst was staff started to clean up so they could get out. They started on our second course! Felt like we were keeping them back. Really not nice to eat your dinner and watch them spray around the place cleaning. Could hear the staff talking and saying can't wait to get to the pub ! Then when we finished they said the Wi-Fi was down and needed to go and get cash out or they could use the card that the booking was under. So our friends had to pay. Not sure how they looked the booking up when Wi-Fi was not working and they really wanted us to pay cash? They should have told us this before we sat down !! The whole thing was so disappointing as I thought this was a luxury experience and was definitely Not!
AVOID
Awful experience from start to finish. Myself and friends were beyond exited to dine here as a birthday treat. I had got in touch (email and telephone voicemail) a number of times before our evening arrived as one of us is both dairy and gluten free. There was no acknowledgment from NICO. We arrived into a very drab quiet room with quite unfriendly staff that looked at us like we were in the way. There was zero atmosphere. No music and the room was cold. The waiters were extremely hard to understand so when describing the dishes we hadn’t a clue what they were saying. The drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic were extremely overpriced and the food was certainly not worth rushing back for. Time for the bill- wow a shock indeed! Their card machine was not working so my friend, along with the manager are standing in the middle of the dining room for all to see the transaction issues- so unprofessional and unnecessary. I, myself suggested that they go to the till point near the front door. The tip is added onto the bill whether you like it or not. They knew it was a birthday- we sang happy birthday to ourselves, they done nothing to make it a nice experience whatsoever. Absolutely disappointed is an understatement!
Will never be back
Daylight robbery and every dish tastes the same- highly salted. Wouldn’t accept a voucher 4 days past expiry even though a close family bereavement resulted in us not using it before hand. Was escalated all the way to their head office and they still decided to rob the £80 and provide nothing in return for it. Very unreasonable position to take in my opinion- other half had paid £80 for the voucher and they were delighted to get an opportunity to not have to get out of honoring it. Wouldn’t set foot in another one of their businesses.
More than disappointing
I took my partner here for his birthday and it was amongst the worst food and service I've ever experienced. When we arrived, we were sat down, given 2 menus and then we were just left. 10 minutes later I asked to order a drink - the wine came and it was warm. I then ordered the vegetarian churros and bread - only the chrros arrived and they were more than disappointing. They tasted and looked like soggy breadsticks. 10 minutes later I asked a waiter for the bread and they said they thought we'd had it (no apologies). When the starter arrived (goats cheese ducks) they were frozen solid, meaning they had v little taste (to be honest by then I'd lost the will). The mushroom veloute was nice but the remaining courses were honestly so disappointing for the price we paid - both visually and taste- wise. I wasn't offered another drink until near the end of service. We were then rushed out of the door (we literally put down our spoons and someone was next to us with the card machine) on some conveyor belt that the restaurant had going, without anyone giving us our coats. We then had to queue with people trying to get in (I had to put my coat on right next to another poor person eating there who had been placed right by the door as the doorway and reception were so overcrowded). The restaurant has too any tables (people are crammed in), not enough staff and an awful loud atmosphere. I've eaten in a lot of places and this was by far the most disappointing (in terms of atmosphere, good, drink and service). I would avoid.
Lacklustre
Fairground menu did not hit the spot. Service below standard tonight too. Disappointing all round as have enjoyed visits in the past.

Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
