Sip&Guzzle New York Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent drinks in a lively environment.
The bartenders are truly artists who take great pride in their work.
Sip & Guzzle is a two-floor concept that highlights New
Sip & Guzzle is a two-floor concept that highlights New York classic drinks and bar food at Guzzle (upstairs: casual and bright), and more unique cocktails and bites at Sip (downstairs: darker and fancier). This review is for Guzzle, for which I was able to snag a reservation for 2 on a weeknight. We ordered a couple of drinks: Super Lychee Martini (pink and super sweet), Yuzu Mugirita (very yuzu forward and refreshing: my personal favorite with the plum salt), and the Miami Vice Negroni (a fun take on a classic, the strawberry ice cube was such a cute touch). We also split the Electric Chicken which was nicely crispy and fun to cut with the provided scissors and gloves. I honestly really loved the tingly spiciness of the chicken, almost a mala spice which was perfect for cutting through the sweet drinks we ordered. Overall Guzzle is definitely a winner in my book! Service was also super speedy and attentive. Will definitely be back to try Sip soon!
This is the latest hottest bar in New York, from celebrity
This is the latest hottest bar in New York, from celebrity bartender Shingo Gokan of SG Group. The group has a lot of award winning establishments in Tokyo and Shanghai, and has expanded their influence to New York as well. The drink concept and menu items are an interesting blend of American and Japanese influence. The interior architecture is tasteful and reminiscent of traditional Japanese shoji screens. Guzzle is the upstairs restaurant, and Sip is the downstairs bar. They have distinct menus and reservations. The issue on Resy is that you can only make 1 reservation per establishment. If you're keen on eating at both Sip and Guzzle in one day, you'll need another account to book the second reservation. Guzzle has amazing food. The foie gras mont blanc is a must try, with creative texture of the mont blanc elevating the taste and creaminess of the foie gras paste. It's served on toasty white bread, which creates a pleasant balance for the salty and sweet flavors of the condiments. I personally think the fried chicken is better than Cocodaq (the other hyped up bar/restaurant in NYC). Mochi fries with nacho powder were decent, but I personally feel that it was a diversity pick to showcase the restaurant concept of East-West cohesion, mochi representing Japan and fries representing America. This dish is the only one I wouldn't get again. There are some cocktails that are available at Guzzle, but I personally would prefer to drink downstairs. Sip had amazing drinks that rival Angel's Share and Double Chicken Please. DCP is a bit on the nose in terms of creativity, while Sip truly showcases what a celebrity mixologist can design. The drinks were elevated both in flavor profiles as well as presentation. If you like whiskey, the Whiskey Nigiri is a must try. I prefer light, refreshing drinks and had no regrets going with Gimlet Over Rice with its notes of cucumber and mint. I would 100% return to Sip, and would go as far as naming this my favorite bar in NYC.
Upstairs is a complete disappointment don't waste your time
Upstairs is a complete disappointment don't waste your time or money. Male bartender unfriendly and arrogant the girl was nice but drinks were mediocre at best. Downstairs is very nice and a complete different experience. We thought we made reservations for this but didn't. Hostess was friendly enough to squeeze us in for an hour. The classic drinks like Chinatown and Mr. Myagi are on the drink menu downstairs and trust me you want to try them. The chili chicken was amazing. Definitely worth it but just make sure you come to downstairs and make the right reservation.
Sip & Guzzle is the US child of the famous SG Club in Tokyo
Sip & Guzzle is the US child of the famous SG Club in Tokyo - one of my favorite bars in Japan. SG's cocktails are so unique and precisely made, and taste amazing. Sip & Guzzle here follows a similar format where the upstairs menu focuses on spins on classics and downstairs menu has more interesting ingredients. Guzzle (upstairs) is actually crafted by Employees Only's owner while Sip (downstairs) is crafted by SG's owner. If you walk in and try to go to Sip it is almost impossible - we came on a Tuesday at 6pm and got a text 5 hrs later telling us our table is ready lmao. Guzzle if you want a table I would reserve too, otherwise you could sit at the bar or stand. The drinks here are very good but pricey - primarily for Sip. Guzzle's drinks were quite reasonable in terms of pricing ($18-$21) and very solid. I liked the Yuzu marg most followed by the lychee martini. The espresso martini was fine, but more whatever. Food was decent; they had unique mochi fries, but the chicken wasn't as good as it looked. Sip's drinks ranged generally $24-$31 so similar to Martiny's. I think drinks wise, Sip and Martinys are comparable. Must be something about Japanese drinks here in the US, making us shell out. I got the tomato and Chinatown No 5. Both were very good. The floral one is the same presentation as a drink in SG but less floral so I liked it better. Vibe wise, this bar is for friends or dates that you know well. Guzzle doesn't give romantic at all and is a bit loud. Sip is a lot darker but is also very loud bc the space is small. The tables in Sip were rather close together, also taking after its Japanese parent. I don't think this is a first date spot or if you want romantic, don't come here. Drinks are well crafted. But if you want the most unique flavors be prepared to shell out downstairs.
We ate at Guzzle.
If you're not aware, this functions as two separate spaces with two different menus. Small menu of maybe 10 items to eat. Lots of drink options. Unfortunately I always want beer over cocktails. But my girlfriend's cocktail was delicious and she does not always think so. I had a Koshihikari Echigo lager. You already know it was good. The electric chicken was good but not going to blow you away. Miyamoto's beef was very good. Super sauced, and had that velvety beef feel. Topped with truffle which was a nice understated addition. The cabbage did not look that appetizing when it arrived, but it was actually maybe my favorite thing. Savory yet refreshing flavor. I would go back to try Sip.
I've been meaning to check out Sip & Guzzle for a while now
I've been meaning to check out Sip & Guzzle for a while now and took advantage this past week when celebrating my friend's birthday. Sip & Guzzle is sectioned into 2 floors: Guzzle tailored to have bar vibes & Sip to handcrafted cocktails. Since we were celebrating, Sip it was. I loved the tomato tree & the bites were worth trying. Obviously we opted for the uni & wagyu sammie - both were phenomenal! And our bartender recommended the sundae with chips - holy crap, that was sooooo good! Make reservations & go early! Sip & Guzzle for sure lines up to the hype
Just no.
We were seated 20 min after our reservation time. Once seated, the server barely paid attention to the table; she did not introduce herself or give any recommendations or information. The drinks were ok, but overpriced. The server also rushed us out for the next reservation. I'd recommend passing on this place.
Electric.
Sophisticated. Ethereal. Sip and guzzle is one of the most elevated cocktail experiences I have ever had. I was fortunate enough to get in solo on a thursday night. The ambience of speakeasy harmoniously clashes with the modernity of japanese cocktail influence. The bar is beautiful. A single bartender artfully crafts cocktails as bar backs prep glass ware and ingredients. A beautiful sight to behold. The bar tender moves with immense precision. No wasted movements. Every flick of the wrist, twirl of the hand is done with purpose. And, the cocktails are evidence. The service was astounding. The bar backs on either side of the bartender would take orders and chat while your drink was constructed. I got a mr. Miyagi and grandma's drunken apple pie. Both boozy, both balanced. Mr. Miyagi is quite experimental. Bourbon and passionfruit collide for earthy, yes tart in this beautiful elixir. The passionfruit garnish blew me away. What a brilliant idea. Grandma's drunken apple pie is exactly as described. A boozy, drinkable apple pie. The egg white adds enough texture and body to the drink so that it ruminates on your tongue. The cinnamon breaks through with the tartness of the apple. This is dessert in a drink. Beautiful. Sip and Guzzle is special. From the service to the bar program it absolutely deserves its spot on the top bars in the USA. They have so delicately balanced old school and new school. Can't wait to get back!
Review for 2/2024.
Came here to have a small toast to celebrate my wedding anniversary after work with my husband after a nice experience a few days prior. Had reservations for 10:30pm and waited almost an hour to get seated - kept checking in with the hostess/manager and kept getting told the table is getting ready to pay etc. The couple ahead of us were also seated an hour behind their original time - they too were really frustrated and upset. I felt like the staff did not handle this situation with much empathy as if they were powerless to do anything about it to get waiting patrons seated at their respective reservation time. We received free champagne and soft serve which did not really make up for the experience. Why am I wasting an hour standing around late at night on a work week for a time that I was promised? Reservations should be honored especially if you're going to charge people for cancelling. Hopefully they've improved this system.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
