Disappointed by maintenance and needs some renovations
I recently stayed here for a work-related trip, attracted by the appealing lobby and promising location. Unfortunately, the rooms did not live up to the first impression. My initial problem began with a malfunctioning heater. Despite promptly contacting the front desk, my room remained cold for over two hours without any resolution. The explanation was that the maintenance team was overwhelmed, and though I canceled the request to avoid further disturbance, the staff’s indifference was palpable. The following morning revealed more unsettling issues: a clogged sink, a moldy bathtub, and a peeling ceiling in the shower. For a hotel in such an excellent location, these shortcomings are inexcusable. My advice to fellow travelers seeking comfort and reliability is to consider staying at the Westin instead. I wanted to love this place, but I won’t be returning.

Was on a family trip so we booked here. Check in was slow and the lady who helped us did not know what she was doing so the other lady who was helping was getting frustrated causing delays at the only two counters open. We were told we got a upgrade but that was a lie. The rooms AC did not work and when went to the pool there were no towels so had to get them from the room. The bar/ restaurant was out of the item’s needed to make a Paloma and a Shirley temple for the kids. Had better service at the Hilton done with Marriott properties.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and comfort
We stayed four nights in this Sheraton, which was the main hotel for our journalism convention. The check-in was so smooth and easy and we went to a beautiful room in the club level with superior views. I can’t begin to describe how comfortable those beds are. I would like to take them home with me. The room was kept sparkling clean. We ate at the one restaurant twice for breakfast and once for lunch and the service was exceptional. We did not realize that we could have a viewing party for two of the NCAA games on the televisions in the lobby. Highly recommend staying here, I know if we come back to Kansas City this will be our number one choice of hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel for several years and every year is a new experience. This year we were limited to only two towels in the bathroom (there were two of us), they were clean but very worn and no bath mat. The room was refreshed every day, which was a first after Covid. The bed was comfortable, ac/heater noisy. Hotel and conference rooms were clean, but exceedingly cold.
Be the first to ReplyGreat treatment from dedicated employees
A 4-night weekend stay was very good. As a Plat Elite guest. I was upgraded to an upper level suite. The gym (2nd floor) and outdoor pool were both excellent. I was especially impressed by Miguel in the club lounge on the 38th floor. On the weekend, the lounge is closed (contrary to Marriott policy) but I was given coupons for brekkie in the restaurant. Saimelis was working both days and she was very helpful. I recommend this hotel for its access to Crown Center and for its dedicated ees.
Be the first to ReplySheraton Hotel - won’t stay here again.
No more Sheraton hotels. I’m done with the brand. They should consider sunsetting it and starting a new because it’s terrible. Our journey to the Sheraton KC began with the valet car line filled with 20+ vehicles and one single parking attendant. We waited forever as did others. Hotel staff answer? “It’s a third party that does the valet. We have nothing to do with it.” Amazing. Next came luggage. A large convention center hotel with no bell service and no carts to be found. A line 15+ deep for check in, and no Bonvoy gold/platinum line. I had confirmed prior to check in and was promised a club level room. I was not on put in a club level room. The room itself was average and the bed had no mattress pad and they used a too small flat sheet as bottom sheet. On our floor was random microwave in hallway by elevator plugged into wall. To fully round out our stay, as we were sitting on the mezzanine level, we noticed a bat flying around the lobby. Yes, a bat. 🦇 The hotel had to call animal control. We will not stay here again and truly do not recommend.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible gym
Gym has cable machine that has been inoperative for over 4 months. Dumbbells are missing. Complained about this four months ago to management and still not fixed. They said there was a renovation coming but did not know when. It should not be that difficult for a company as large as Sheraton to get a repair person to fix busted equipment and purchase a full set of dumbbells.
Be the first to ReplyFine stay
The room was large and spacious. My one complaint is no mattress cover. I love when hotels have their mattresses completely covered as it helps me inspect for bugs! That’s one update they could do here. The night shift front desk woman at check in was less than pleasant. But overall fine stay where I got the rest I needed.
Be the first to ReplyOverall nice but unresponsive and does not work with national customer service.
Still holding out hope. I called the national number on 10.19.23 to book a room and gave specifics on working at a state institution, requesting a specific room, attending a conference, etc. It was over a 20 min booking call. I thought all was good. Checked in with no problem and went to dinner when a colleague told me that I my rate was not the state contract rate but the conference rate. I called national and they said to call the front desk. I called the front desk and they said that the person to speak with (Gina) was gone but that she would be the one to address it the next day. I called the next day (Friday) and was told that she left around 4pm and that I would have to wait until Monday. I explained I was leaving on Saturday and that I did not want to checkout with the charge as posted. I called national back and they called the front desk and asked to cancel the reservation and rebook at the state rate. The hotel told national that they would not unless they charged me a cancellation fee - even though this was brought up the day before. National (Daniela P.) gave me a case number on 11.10.23 and was super nice trying to make it work. I emailed on 11.14.23 and called back as I did not have any updates. On the call I was told that any changes were denied by the hotel (even though I go no response/feedback from them). I asked if it could be resubmitted and requested contact from the hotel. I called national back on 11.17.23 as no response and was told my a supervisor (Pamela) that it would not be reviewed. I then called to speak with Chad Mohwinkle as he is listed as the General Manager in the email asking for my feedback. I was told that I had to go through Tammy Neros, his assistant. I left Tammy a voicemail at 14:18 on 11.17.23. Hopefully she will reach out and this can be resolved.
Be the first to ReplyVery Disappoint Stay
We have been this nice hotel for several times, each visit we had great time until this one. We were very excited got an upgrade to a presidential suite by using my SNU, the room was very spacious, and everything looked nice, we were expecting a good night stay. when we got back after dinner, the room was very cold, we played with the thermostat, only came out cold air, by that time outside temperature keep dropping. I texted front desk, they said will send someone up soon, I waited for over 40 mins, no one ever came. then they said sorry they were assisting other guests, then they told me they aware about the heating issue in our suite, by that time was 11:40, they suggested to switch a room, Since the kid already went to bed, we tried to get through, the temp in the room dropped below 60 degrees, there was not enough blankets. The next day morning after only had 4-hour sleep, and the room felt like ice box, I went down there complain to the staff, I thought they knew the issue way ahead of time, did not fix the issue, then a manager came out, her name (Dixie or Alexi?) She was apologized, said will give some points back, I told her my more concern is the service when it happened, no one really care, I demand to have someone to reach out to me, I really liked this property and hate to see this incident, but a week passed, no one ever tried to reach to me, and no compensation was made. We are very disappointed not towards the property but to the hotel management.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Kansas City hotels
I was at the Sheraton for a convention. My overall experience was very positive. Meeting rooms were appropriate. The convention was able to set up a lounge as an additional place for receptions and drink purchases. The restaurant was good for all meals, and service was especially good there. They have a small place in the lobby in the morning where you can purchase coffee and food for a continental breakfast. I did valet parking, and it worked well. The location is great, since you can easily visit the Crown Center restaurants and shops, as well as Union Station. It seems the hotel has done recent renovations. My room was immaculate and comfortable. Everything about it was fine. Crown Center itself is a great location in the city. I've stayed a lot of places in Kansas City, and found this hotel to be among the best.

Room was clean, front desk was friendly. Was disappointing the club level was not open on Friday eve. Was looking forward to the view up there. Breakfast was good, very nice staff and good food. Would stay again
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hotel that did almost everything right
We were in Kansas City for a convention that was being held at the Sheraton. Our rooms were part of the bloc that had been set aside for the convention and I was surprised at how spacious the room was. King sized bed, a daybed/chaise, and a desk. The bathroom was good sized and well lit. One little thing that shouldn't mean as much as it did: when you open the door into the room, you are in an area that has a wall in front of you, the bathroom to one side and the closet to the other. You can't see into the room from the hallway AND light from the bathroom isn't shining directly into the room, a great feature for when someone gets up in the middle of the night. The bed was comfortable and the sounds from other rooms minimal. We had an issue with the toilet running on, but didn't report it until check out, so they didn't have a chance to fix it while we were there. When we arrived in KC, the temps were nearly 80 and within a few days they didn't get out of the 30s and the hotel didn't keep up with the change so well. The public spaces and convention rooms grew cold and were just starting to come out of it by the time we left. The hotel is HUGE at 40 floors and conference rooms and other amenities across three floors with huge spaces in between. Almost too much. Our 1000 person convention was a bit lost in all that space and that might have been handled better (not sure if that was a hotel thing or the convention). The on-site bar wasn't managed particularly well, but that's a different review. I was impressed with the hotel, the people we talked with, and using the Bonvoy app to manage our stay.
Be the first to ReplyPoor customer service
The hotel charged me for parking during a conference on days when I didn't have a car there. I've spent more time on the phone, with the hotel staff, accounting department, corporate accounting etc. that I care to count. I've received multiple assurances that I would be refunded. Unfortunately that hasn't happened.
Be the first to ReplyThey don’t care!
Not enough staff and no security presence and no response from chat or calling front desk. We had an issue that was completely ignored. I chatted on the app with the hotel directly while in our room around 1:00 am. Asking them if we were on a smoking floor as I couldn’t sleep because of the smoke smell for the last few hours which was marijuana. I didn’t get a response from the chat and then about 20 minutes later there was a loud continuous bang on our door. I Immediately called the front desk no answer so I chatted once again to see if they said something to a neighboring room and explained what happened. Again no response. So now we didn’t want to leave the room and we were both up now. The next day I woke up after only 4 hours with an allergic reaction to what ever was being smoked. I also checked my app to see we were on a nonsmoking floor. We get a response from the chat saying if there is anything further they could do. They never responded to our issues and were just ignoring us. Expressed our concern to the hotel in feedback and all they did was assure us a staff member would not say who complained. Highly doubt this since our door was the only one being banged on like someone had an issue with us. And your Staff never responded! We called chatted nothing. Felt like we couldn’t leave the room after the banging. They provided no assistance and after the feedback provided nothing else to us either.
Be the first to ReplyMake sure you have a backup plan if you book a room here!
Zero stars, terrible management! Booked a room several days before we drove many hours to KC for a concert. Arrived just before 6pm, tipped the valet nicely and expected to check in quickly to our room so we could dump our bags and get to the concert. My wife was told at the front desk that our room wasn’t ready. We waited awhile longer in the lobby and then checked back with the front desk. Someone else came out and told us they gave away our room to somebody else. Fine work Sheraton KC Crown Center! Make sure you have a backup plan if you book a room at Sheraton Crown Center KC because they might give your reserved room to somebody else. No more Sheraton hotels for us!
Be the first to ReplyThe worst Marriott I’ve ever been to — 30+ min elevator waits and no hot water
This is the WORST Marriott property I’ve ever visited. When we pulled up to the hotel and saw the lobby we thought we got the night for a steal on points. We were so very wrong — looks can be deceiving! The hotel was clean and the room was comfortable. However there were two issues that lead me to leave such an unusually negative review. The major problem was the elevator access. BE WARNED: hotel is NOT friendly toward people with disabilities or elderly people with any mobility issues. There are ~40 floors and too few working elevators. We stayed on floor 21 and after almost 30 minutes of waiting for one for the four elevators (of which only one seemed to be running) to bring us down, we hauled our bags down the stairs because there seemed to be no other option. We needed to continue our day and didn’t put aside 2 hours to leave the hotel. I’ve never seen anything like it and it was truly absurd. My husband had an ankle injury but we had no other way to get out. He contacted the desk to ask what the problem was and their reply was useless. Beyond disappointing! A true disqualifier for anyone who needs elevator access or doesn’t want to carry bags 20+ flights of stairs. It is one thing if it is a boutique hotel with a few flights of stairs but this was absolutely unacceptable. The more minor issue was the lack of hot water. It seems that the hotel was not equipt to meet the demand during busy times so if you’re counting on a hot shower in the morning, this hotel isn’t for you. I will NEVER go back to this hotel and hope you will go in aware of the problems. If they can’t handle full capacity, don’t book the hotel to capacity.
Be the first to ReplyVery dissapointed
I’m sorry but we can’t recomend this hotel. I normally don’t write bad reviews but I feel like I have to in this case because I regret spending money on this hotel and it’s service or lack there of. After 8 hour flight we came late and wanted to check in. They didn’t find our booking. After the lady talked to her manager and 20 minutes later she found it. Then they charged us, but told us our card was declined. It was our comapy card it should not have been declined. But the lady in the lobby was sure of it and wanted us to try again. We looked at our bank statement and what do you know, the payment went through the first time. But she had to talk to her manager again, it worked out in the end but these were issues we were not in the mood for after a long flight. The lady felt bad though because this procces had taken at least 40 minutes so she gave us a cupon for free breakfast the morning after to apoligize. It was nice of her. When we came to our room there was no Wifi and this loud noise was coming from the hallway. Like the fire alarm! So we went to the hallway but there was nobody there. Again my husband went to the lobby (because nobody answered the phone) and told the lady who had no idea what was going on. She made a phone call and told us they were gonna take care of it. We didn’t feel safe so we went up the fire escape to all the floors to find out where this noise was coming from. After about 30 min we found out the noise was coming from the elevator that was stuck on the 34th floor. They took care of it in the end. We stayed for 3 nights. Nobody came to clean our room, changes towels or take the trash out. When we called the lobby nobody answeres. This hotel is very outdated unfortunatly. Our room was freezing cold no matter what we did. On our last night we got a phone call from the hotel telling us to come down to the lobby to give them our credit card information - again they told us they didn’t have it on file. SO my husband (my better half) went out of bed and went down to talk to them (we were on the 27th floor) but when he came the lady said: My bad we had the information all along. And I’m sorry to say but she was kinda rude considering she draged him out of bed late in the evening for nothing. We went to 2 other hotels in Kansas on our trip and there was no problem. So I’m sorry but I would recomend you to look at other options.
Be the first to ReplyOld hotel, terrible service
I hate leaving bad reviews but I hate getting bad service. First off, the heater takes an entire day to get minimal heat. This is the 4th day I’ve had the thermostat to 90 degrees and it feels like 73. They said they were going to fix it and they never did. We ordered room in the first night here and they brought our food in a stapled paper bag. Once we opened it, we realized there were no utensils to eat the food. I called and asked front desk to bring utensils and they said “we will try to get a hold of room service for you.” Room service never came back, so I got dressed and went down to the front desk to see 4 employees standing around. I asked for utensils then asked to be comped. I got the utendd sad old but didn’t get comped. Next day housekeeping never came. They didn’t even bring towels. I had to call and wait for towels until 10 pm. E we went to the restaurant after that and ordered dinner and cocktails. My wife offered a call margarita. We got the check and the bartender charged us for a double. Wow! That’s not an accident under no circumstances. There are many other places to stay in Kansas City that won’t treat you like this. Don’t stay here.
Be the first to ReplySo glad we stayed here.
We checked in as lifetime titanium elite and were upgraded to a huge suite on the 39th floor. The room was recently upgraded and had amazing views. The lobby is beautiful and check-in was flawless. Self parking is the way to go, don’t pay extra for valet, the garage is connected to the hotel. The lounge for platinum elite and above is on the 41st floor and serves breakfast and happy hour snacks. Only certain elevators go up to that floor and it is easier to go back down to the lobby and start from there. There is no spinning restaurant up top anymore. This is a huge hotel, with a beautiful outdoor pool overlooking the city. It is connected by covered skywalks to the Crowne Plaza, Freighthouse, and Union Station, you can walk for miles and not actually be outside.
Be the first to ReplyWhen a regular king room can be better than a studio suite…
I had a short return visit to this property as the public and common areas were clean and nice along with everything in the king room. Everything also worked well with no problems. The renovations and decor looked good and were fitting for the king room. The view of downtown was spectacular as always. Negatives: There was an obvious discrepancy and chunky protrusion in the ceiling mud material above the toilet in the bathroom, a dripping bathtub spigot, just a few black marks on the wall by the window, and I thought that it was odd for the mini refrigerator to be outside of the cabinet on the floor underneath the coffee machine shelf instead of being inside the cabinet. In the public areas, the transition area between the pool and the elevator to that fourth floor needs a more interesting makeover and renovation as does the the boring dated blue pool tile. A few of them were already missing. I did however like the stay this time around in this room a lot better than last year’s stay at this hotel in the studio suite. The studio suite was no doubt nice with the skyline view, renovation and new decor in the room, but it was disappointing with the tv viewing situation. The tv was only able to be viewed from the bed in the bedroom area and not from the foyer full of furniture which seemed like a weird wasteful arrangement of use to me. Therefore, I didn’t decide to book that room when I came back. This time around in the king room, I was able to view the tv with no problems from either the bed, desk and chair chaise in the corner of the room. In my view or opinion, the studio suite would be best for either a busy family, leisure or business travelers who are mostly out of the room participating in endless outside activities until night when they return to the room, and then they can finally get into bed and briefly watch a little tv before going to sleep. Otherwise, if you want to moderately or frequently watch tv in a room from multiple places, areas, or rooms, either book a traditional room, Junior suite, Executive suite, or even a Luxury suite.
Be the first to ReplyNice big city $$ hotel, but missing a few beats
Lovely and clean common areas; room very attractive. All good: noise, small refrigerator, AC, mattress, shower temp and pressure, towels. Parking at $23/day. Problems: - coffee machine features pods too large for the hopper, so the hopper overflows onto the counter - very attractive inlaid glass, which the coffee leaks under. - no room microwave, it's by the ice machine. - TV remote didn't work. - bathroom vent doesn't. - 'Free' WiFi execution quite poor (free for frequent fliers - Marriott Bonvoy members), $15/day for basic. Can't comment on the speed as didn't use. Had to argue with the Night Clerk how to accept my money, and when. Check-in and check-out much more professional.
Be the first to ReplyNeeds some attention to detail....
Stayed here recently for a conference; requested and received Suite Night Upgrade to the Presidental Suite! WOW! Now, the hotel and surrounding area had been without power for the previous 22 hr and just regained it a few hours before I arrived. Suite was def warm- and I thought it was because of the power outage. Tried to turn up the fan which didn't change a thing. (in fact, I turned all 3 thermostats I found in there down to 60 and high fan and it never changed over 4 days! So- this suite is on the 38th floor and spans the width of the building so different views of the city from LR/DR and BR. Large 4 poster bed-- but there is a 4 inch "ledge" around the mattress which is waist high to me (at 5-6") making it extremely difficult to get into! Then discovered the bedside table and lamp was too far away to reach from bed...3 of the 4 pillows were incredibly lumpy- glad I only needed one pillow! Flat sheet on the bottom which wasn't long enough to be tucked in on top or side so it looked like a war had occurred in the morning (oh- and 2 comforters on the bed but don't know if it ever got cooler than 75 or so!). HUGE bathroom- big double size tub (but the row of lights over it had 3/4 of bulbs out), big steam shower with fabulous water pressure (but mildew on ceiling and amongst the marble tile), large bottles of fancy products in the shower (that could not be opened for those of you worried about that-I'm not, but see lots of angst about this). Several spots in teh BR had mildew, and lightening wasn't great for makeup. LR has 2 love seat sized couches (found some sort of canisters in between the seat cushions- ew!) large desk, table for 8 on the DR side plus a full kitchen (but a dirty black plastic serving spoon was on the stovetop!). Lots of nice artwork throughout. Carpet was stained in many areas. Never saw a TV remote though TVs were in the bedroom, bathroom and LR (didn't look real hard in LR, wasn't watching TV anyway, but thought it was odd). Housekeeping did come in after 2nd night, remade the bed with the same (wrinkled) sheets. Conference rooms were pretty darn cold. Oh, and did tell front desk that the AC wasn't working, but nothing changed. (Heard someone else on 38th floor complaining too). Lounge hours are limited- never made it there. Did have a bite to eat in the restaurant bar one evening- def not worth the calories or $. Unfortunately not much around open after 5 or 6, esp on a Sunday evening. Lobby is gorgeous, lots of seating in many areas incl tables with outlets for working.
Be the first to ReplyGreat rooms but poor service and amenities
Rooms were great and spacious. However, this hotel has no customer service (even for mid-west expectations). If you call the front desk it adds $1.50 to you bill. There is no room service and the local "restaurant" Spectators is rarely open. But at least it is connected (via covered walkway) to the Westin who have somewhat proper dining. As well as connecting to the "Crown Center" which at best is an entry level "mall" with no real dining options. Their hot tub is also under repair and not functional. I would not return.
