Beautiful view
A beautiful cavernous restaurant that serves unseasoned prepackaged-tasting food. Fabulous view on the wharf. Go for a drink. Don't bother with the unspectacular meals.
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal dining experience marred by high prices
I had a great time enjoying Sequoia's Sunday brunch. Their food quality and variety were excellent, wait staff were impeccable with service, and the atmosphere hip and festive. The price though was a little high in my opinion for what they had to offer, and the festive atmosphere and setting can get a bit too loud and raucous to hear your party talking. Overall a phenomenal dining experience, food quality, and choice of selection.
Be the first to ReplyErm, unexpected choice of salad dressing
Great starters, impressive white wine, but the lobster and shrimp salad is unusual. I’ve never had a lovely plate of leaves doused in sweet and sour sauce. Not great; the dressing is not dissimilar to the sweet chilli sauce one gets with a famous high street burger chain. Shame, I had to leave half the salad, it was a sticky and sweet plate of food (people who love a sugar kick will love it).
Be the first to ReplyHappy Anniversary Honey- Excellent tasting food
We booked a table via Open Table and arrived 30 minutes early. They were able to seat us right away. Thus was a Friday and didn't get busier until a little later. On the open table reservation, I put it on our anniversary. As soon as they found the reservation, the hostess wished us a " Happy Anniversary." The waitress was very friendly. She made a few suggestions. We both order the Filet and Crab Cakes. We both loved it and cleaned our plates. I was excellent. Just before we were ready to go, the waitress brought over a little dessert on the house for our celebration. Inside was nice and cool. There is patio seating, but it was close to 100 degrees that day, so we sat inside. The view was very nice. It's was very expensive. 2 drinks 1 appetizer 2 entrees Tip of 20% Came to over $250. Ugh. We would visit again but only on special occasions due to the cost. Tried to validate our parking, which was nearby, and had a sign in the garage to validate, but the restaurant wouldn't validate. For spending so much money they don't validate $15. Anywhooo

It's a beautiful restaurant with unbeatable views of the Potomac. Our wait staff were very friendly and attentive, even showing us how to access the brunch from the second floor overhanging dining space. It was loud, but that's not unexpected with soaring ceilings, glass and hundreds of patrons (especially given the birthday celebrations going on all around us.) It's not inexpensive, though. My bill with tip for brunch for two was over $200. And given that we were two small women who didn't pile it high, it wasn't the best value. With that in mind, I'd like to experience it on a less crowded evening, non-brunch atmosphere when I can order a la carte.
Be the first to ReplyBland food
We got three appetizers for four of us and three different entrees and except for the special scallops everything was BLAND. I had to ask for salt and pepper to give all our food some sort of seasoning including Lobster flat bread, guacamole, watermelon, chicken chimichurri, cioppino soo bland. We did like the desserts key lime, tiramisu and chocolate cake

I haven't been to Sequoia in years, but we were visiting DC and decided to give it a try. The service was great. A family member with serious food allergies was able to eat a safely-prepared meal. All of the other dishes we tried were delicious. It was a great place to sit outside on the water and people watch.

Food? Fantastic. Service? On the money. View? Wonderful. We were there with another couple on Saturday night. And although it took a couple of minutes to get seated, even though we had a reservation, it was worth the wait. I had a seafood pasta that was wonderful. My date had a trout dish that was incomparable. I don’t know why there’s only gets a 3 1/2 out of five overall. Our experience was great and we would go back.
Be the first to ReplyLast visit for us
As returning customers we have noticed that the food quality is down. They also tried to charge us for 4 although there were only 3 of us, the manager barely apologized. We will not be back.

Last December I was shocked when my reservation for a party of 17 was cancelled. I had to scramble to find another spot at that time of year. I was contacted by the manager of Sequoia who explained the situation and graciously offered dinner for 4 at no expense We went a few nights ago. The food was delicious, and the service was above and beyond. It was a kind and wise gesture on the past of Sequoia. They couldn’t undo the cancellation, but they didn’t ignore my disappointment and frustration either.

Very nice food and wine menu! Had the baked salmon, autumn salad with burrata cheese, crab cakes and a super creamy carrot cake.
Be the first to ReplyTotally inconsiderate. Money clearly talks.
Sequoia has been a go to spot for my family for special events. We had a reservation for a while for 12 to celebrate on 12/17/22. They just cancelled because a larger group wanted the space. I am speechless.

Excellent view of the harbor. Service was great. Food was good. Loved the bottomless mimosas and bellinis. The only negative is the price at $89/person price tag. Was it worth it. $75/person is the value I would assign.

First time here. Excellent choice as all the food we had was excellent. Fair portion sizes. Friendly service. Clean. Pricey. Branzino fish a must try.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Brunch Experience. Not worth it.
A few of my friends and I wanted to celebrate a milestone for a best friend of ours this past Sunday and chose Sequoia as the perfect spot for brunch. We’ve heard great reviews and the pictures of the food/ambiance looked great but we had no idea that it would turn up being one of the most underwhelming, disappointing and flat out waste of time/money. Brunch was off to a good start as we started to arrive around 1:30PM and sat at the bar outside while we waited for the rest of the party. Once we all arrived, we opted to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather and summer vibe. Our waitress started us off with bottomless drinks and explained the menu and how their brunch works. We were told that once we started ordering food, we would have about two hours to try whatever we wanted from the tapas menu. Our first round of food came out after about 30 minutes, and the second round took 40/50 minutes once the order was placed. She apologized for the wait, but once the food came out we quickly noticed that multiple items that we ordered did not arrive, and that we got double of other items that we did not need. Downplaying it to the BOH just being swamped, we decided to just enjoy what we had. 10 minutes into eating, a guy approaches our table and tells us that he is giving us a “5-10 minute warning” to wrap it up so they can start getting ready for the dinner shift. He was short and dismissive. While we try to eat what we could, he circles back to our table and asks, “didn’t I tell you that you all had 5-10 minutes?” which we responded that 1. We had just gotten our food and 2. We don’t even have our checks yet. He walks off and harrasses another table behind us, a group of three ladies. He started to get loud and aggressive towards them and caused a scene on the patio to the point where the ladies got up and headed to the bar for their checks as he following them, still yelling. When asked for his name, he refused and said that he doesn’t not have to tell anyone his name. After asking another employee, I found out that that his name was Darryl. The long wait for food that we could barely enjoy, but and the two mimosas that we had was not worth the hundreds of dollars spent and put a damper on the whole afternoon. After paying and leaving unsatisfied and upset, we ended up going to another establishment for a late lunch. This was my first and last time at Sequoia and I urge any one else thinking of coming there for brunch to spend their time and money elsewhere.

Stopped for a quick snack and drink in the outdoor patio area. Fantastic "swirl" frozen margarita and delicious guacamole and margarita pizza. Wonderful service, too. Note: not cheap - my plastic cup margarita was $16 - but delish.
Be the first to Reply$$$$ Sunday Brunch - Don’t Make a Reservation after 1:00pm
Don’t make a reservation pass 1:00pm for Sunday Brunch. Everything shuts down @ 3:00pm down to them giving you the check and expecting you to be ready to leave. They will allow you to make a 1:45 reservation but don’t, you will not get the full experience or your money’s worth. Yes, we had a 1:45pm reservation and we felt like we were rushed. There was no warning from the waiters, last minute requests nothing. Not aware that everything literally shuts down @ 3pm we did not get our money’s worth. Outside of that what we did experience was good, your glass was never almost empty and the staff was quick and on point.
Location/Parking - Leave early to give yourself time to park and get to the restaurant. The restaurant is located on the lower level of the harbor area, you must walk to get to the location. The easiest & closest place to park is the parking garage. Currently $14.00 flat rate on the weekends. If you do street parking just be prepared to do a little walking. There is a free parking lot on Rock Creek, you just have to walk a little further than you would from the garage. Part of my family parked in the garage and the others @ the free parking lot.
WARNING: Not Fully Accessible
This was a beautiful venue for the wedding and reception I attended. The food and service were as expected because the bride and groom take pride in serving friends and family great food in a wonderful environment. The problem is that guests staying at nearby hotels who use a shuttle or ride service are dropped off at a street level plaza and have to walk across to take a set of steps down to the entrance level, then elevator up to the restaurant. Moreover, the pavement was brick-like, making an uneven surface for those using canes and walkers. In addition, one had to go up two short sets of steps to the restroom.
We were told later that there was an elevator from the plaza…somewhere. Guests who drove had difficulty finding the parking garage. Arrangements need to be made for hotel shuttles and ride services to use the parking garage to drop off guests because there is a ramp and entrance to the elevator up to the restaurant. There are no signs and the website lacks information about accessibility.
Great atmosphere as well as the food !!
Excellent meal and perfect service! We enjoyed the Saturday Tapas Brunch and the food was delicious. Plenty great things to choose from as well. Our service was excellent and food arrived quickly. View of the Potomac river and the ice-skating ring. Great place to eat while in DC / Georgetown
Be the first to ReplyVery good post-funeral luncheon
Arranged for 20 family members to eat here after a funeral. Could not have been happier with the food and ambience. Two of us had lunch the day before to finalize arrangements and the following day everything was as we requested -- one table indoors with the wonderful view of the harbor. This restaurant is elegant without being stuffy. The food was excellent -- many positive comments on the crabcake sandwich and the lobster and shrimp salad. Service was very good (two of the meals were delayed for some reason). Sergio is an excellent waiter and fun to talk to. The staff is helpful.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Restaurant I have ever been to
I would have given 0 star if it was possible. Beware of Sequioa - at Washington Harbor, 300 K Street NW Washington DC 20007. DO NOT GO THERE FOR ANY REASON. The waiter was very good. And that's the only good thing about this place.
I usually don't give reviews about bad food. However, when that extends to cheating and stealing, I am obliged to call it out.
These people charged double my bill to my credit card.
I called twice and asked them to pay back my money, they kept me on hold for a while and then cut the connection.
I have asked my bank to pursue these bad people and get my money back. Luckily, I kept my receipt.
My advice, DO NOT go to this restaurant. But if you decide to go to Sequioa Restaurant DC, either pay cash or make sure they give you a signed document/promissory note that they would not steal from your credit card.
BE Forewarned!!! STAY AWAY!!!
Thank You!!!
After visiting Washington, D.C. for the first time earlier in the year, I fell in love! So much so that I decided to celebrate my 25th birthday in D.C.
During my first visit to the city, American Express Platinum Card Concierge recommended Sequoia D.C. Sequoia exceeded all expectations. Remembering the experience, I planned to dine at the restaurant again for my birthday.
Unfortunately, there was an oversight with our reservation on our end. However, after speaking to the General Manager, Annie, the situation was more than resolved. Annie provided an EXCEPTIONAL level of service which was further exemplified by the bartender, waiter and other staff.
A+++
Thank YOU!!!
Disappointingly Over-Priced and Mediocre Service
Having experienced great meals in Georgetown (like the superb Michelin-rated Fiola Mare), thought we were in for another treat when making reservations for brunch @ Sequoia. Instead, we got lukewarm mimosas & bellinis; warm coffee, “tapas” that makes a university dining hall a five-star establishment in comparison!! The dessert bar offerings could have easily been mistaken for big-box petit-fours…all for the unbelievable price of $75 per person (which btw is not posted or present in any of their menus- either on line or at the restaurant)
To top this disappointing experience, our server’s presence was scarce, and noticeably annoyed when we asked her to repeat herself after she was speaking while a helicopter was passing overhead … With so many amazing and truly great restaurants in DC, do yourself a favor and read the reviews before heading to Sequoia… we sure wish we had done so ourselves.
No handicapped access
Forget this one. Food was fine but not worth the incredibly high prices. $22 for a starter, for example. To get to the restaurant from street level, you must navigate steps down to a patio then ride an elevator back to street level. There’s no way a handicapped person could go there! Isn’t this a violation of the ADA? Ridiculous.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful evening, good food... with a warning
The patio setting at Sequoia on a clear Saturday night was beautiful! Our server Jeff was excellent. We shared a couple of appetizers, calamari, flatbread, and salads were wonderful. The crab fried rice is a dish to look out for - quite tasty, but it contains wood ear mushrooms, which I would come to find out can cause intense stomach distress. After feeling quite a bit of pain within a few hours of dinner, I started to look up the ingredients in my meal, and found that wood ear mushrooms have been a root cause of quite a few problems in the past. The symptoms I experienced were consistent with a wood ear mushroom issue. The situation cleared within 48 hours, and the other ingredients in the meal were prepared perfectly. I would go back to Sequoia, and perhaps I'd be more careful in the future.
