Creative and Delicious Food and Excellent Staff
This restaurant never disappoints. The quality of the food and service is superb. The cuisine is creative and delicious and is served by professional and attentive staff. The restaurant’s interior is elegant and intimate. The wonderful views of the Toronto city skyline create the perfect backdrop for a fabulous dining experience. The menu has lots of great choices. They have creative cocktails and a great selection of wines. Chef Carolyn Reid uses only the finest seasonal and local ingredients to create her inspired dishes. My husband and I shared the half dozen oysters. The Oysters served with lemon, horseradish, and red wine mignonette were delicious. We also shared the Terrine of Foie Gras. It was the best Terrine of Foie Gras that we had tasted. It was beautifully prepared and presented. We both had the Halibut as our main and we loved this dish as well because the ingredients were fresh and the presentation was innovative. The other members of our party had the Buckwheat Gnocchi and loved this inspired dish as well. Two members of our party chose the Ontario Lamb Saddle as their main and the lamb was perfectly cooked and creative in the choice of accompaniments. Dessert for one of our members was Scaramouche’s delicious Coconut Cream Pie. Besides the inspired dishes by Chef Carolyn Reid, there is another plus and that is the staff. Andres, our server helped to make our dining experience a very memorable one; his professional and attentive service and helpful suggestions were appreciated. For those of you who have not tried Scaramouche, this is one dining experience you do not want to miss.

Every aspect of this restaurant screams perfection and attention to detail. In my opinion it’s one of the best fine dinning experiences you can have in the city, without having to take a second mortgage on your home. The price points are extremely reasonable and fair for the quality of the food, service and overall experience. In some respects it’s a throwback to a different time period when you were made to feel special and not rushed through dinner so the table can be flipped. There is a Michelene acknowledgment at the front door. Dinner picture below was fantastic. Very dish. The noodles with beef and bread crumbs. Very hardy and extremely tasty. The lobster and scallops dishes exceptional and every appetizer was memorable. Deserts are pieces of art and delightful. The service is impeccable. This place is famous for its coconut cream pie. And it was great however, the other deserts were just as good if not better. If you are planning for a special night out, this place should be high on your list.

I dined at Scaramouche some years back and it was a memorable meal. I returned tonight and although solo, was grateful for a table with a great city view. My server was good, even if he asked me if I was ready to order right off the bat. I had a couple good gin martinis and eventually ordered a matsutake mushroom appetizer and a lamb loin main dish. As a French restaurant, I assumed once I put in my order perhaps an amuse or some other flourish might arrive. No. Nothing. The mushroom appetizer came but was underwhelming. Asian pears of varying crispness and only 3 or 4 mushroom pieces that needed more flair. My lamb loin dish was very good and overall lived up to the menu's description but overall on this visit, it was for me a "Meh". I dined at 2 other Toronto restaurants on this trip and though they lacked the view, outstripped the generosity of the menu and the flavor.

A superb restaurant with great food, great service and great view over the City. The heirloom tomato and the shrimp salad starters were excellent. Full of flavour and beautifully presented. Our mains were the halibut and the special of the evening the turbot with artichokes. Both were first rate dishes and beautifully cooked. We shared dessert which was the milk and honey dish and the home made ice cream. Excellent. Our waiter really made our evening. He was very efficient and knowledgeable and appropriately friendly. Totally recommended.

Dinner was a wonderful experience. Best meal I had in Toronto. The food was delicious (I had the Ontario lamb saddle main course and the coconut cream pie). Service was top-notch and atmosphere was great. Each member of our party enjoyed dinner.

Be the first to ReplyOur Favourite Restaurant in Toronto
Scaramouche is without a doubt our favourite restaurant in Toronto. We dine out a fair amount but always end up back here. The food is imaginative and beautifully prepared and presented. The chef clearly has a light hand and is wonderfully innovative. This week we had an amazing hamachi agua caliente followed by delicious scallops with tempura zucchini blossoms (me) and my husband had the lamb, which he pronounced to be perfect. Service is professional..gracious, personal and welcoming, always attentive but never overbearing. The setting overlooking the city is lovely, especially as the sun is setting, but it is the food and service that always bring us back.

Our second time at this restaurant and it was just as spectacular as the first. The staff is expertly trained. Very attentive but not overbearing. Andrew our server made many excellent suggestions throughout the night. We started with their great bread and slightly smokey humus which went well with our Empress and Benvenuto Martin. Then we shared a wonderful shrimp and lobster scallop salad and a romaine hearts salad with chopped eggs. The farm to table ingredients are incredible so a romaine lettuce is more an experience than you would expect. The nightly special was Canadian Halibut which had to be the best Halibut I have ever eaten and my partner had the poached half lobster also off the charts. Every course is perfectly plated and the presentation is like out of a gourmet food magazine. The chocolate cherry desert is an incredible work of art. The view is wonderful, and the entire night was classy and unpretentious and perfect in every way.

Wow! The restaurant was in a gorgeous location with complimentary valet parking. The ambience was amazing. Our waiter Ryan was incredible and made our experience even better. The food was prepared perfectly and tasted amazing! You definitely have to try the coconut creme pie for dessert, its unlike anything you've ever had.

We were here to meet a friend and celebrate a birthday. As those who’ve seen my reviews previously have noted, I’m really really picky. I love to eat good food, drink great wine, and engage in intelligent conversation. Scaramouche offers the opportunity to do it all. Every item our table ordered was perfectly prepared. The wine choices were excellent, and the setting was excellent. We were there a long time. Mostly empty when we arrived at 6:30, the place filled up quickly and was still full when we left after 10. The only negative was that the meal preparation was very slow. Initially we wondered whether we had been forgotten, but always our server appeared just as I started to stand up. Perhaps it the shortage of experienced wait staff Post COVID, but at one of Canadas top restaurants, one shouldn’t have to ask for an additional pour from one’s bottle of wine. I highly recommend dining here.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, impeccable service, and great views!
Really cool restaurant with some awesome food and impeccable service. Inside is a sophisticated restaurant with a great views of downtown Toronto. For our meal we started with the Foie Gras Terrine and the Bread and Hummus for Two. For our main dish, we had the Australian Lamb Chops and the Peppercorn Fettuccine. For dessert, I had the famous Coconut Cream and the Chocolate and Cherry dessert. I recommend all of these dishes! This was such a nice evening out with amazing food. It was an exceptional dining experience and excellent service. I highly recommend this fabulous French restaurant but make sure to grab reservations to secure your spot.
Be the first to ReplyA “High Water Mark” has been reached at Scaramouche
After more than 40 years of celebrating significant life events and memorable evenings at Scaramouche…our tradition has ended! Why? Because a simple glass of tap water is now $3.50! That’s right…Scaramouche now charges $3.50 for a glass of water! I’m sad to say I will never dine there again.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and service
Food was service was overall well done. The ambiance was not ideal, quite loud. The menu hade no vegetarian options. Wait staff was polite but not engaging.
Be the first to ReplyNot as good as expected
The expectations based on reputation brought us disappointment. While the food was good there was nothing outstanding about it. The tuna tartare was very good, the peppercorn pasta was good but not in anyway outstanding and the scallops were miniscule. The coconut cream pie was barely passable but the cremeux was better. Too many good restaurants to bother returning here.
Be the first to ReplyAlways excellent
If you are celebrating any joyous life celebration, or just want a great night out, this is your restaurant. I have been here a number of times and it is always excellent in many ways. The food is always excellent. There is no bad choice. We had the duck, chicken, pasta and fish (as mains). All very good. The service was very attentive but not overwhelming. One of the best overall in the city. 9/10
Be the first to ReplyLovely birthday dinner
My husband and I travelled to Toronto from Vancouver to visit our daughter who had just started her first year at U of T. We had dinner at Scaramouche to celebrate her 19th birthday. The food and service were excellent. However, I thought the location was really odd and the ambience wasn't as pretty as I expected. Perhaps in the summer, when the patio is open, and some flowers outside, the setting is more appealing. I'm sure when the sun sets and the candles are lit, the ambience of the restaurant is a little better. With our early dinner reservation, it was light and sitting in front of a vacant patio felt a little cold. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful, knowledgeable server (I wish I could remember his name) and a lovely experience with our daughter.
Be the first to ReplyOver rated and pretentious
Waited over 15 minutes for our reserved table while staff chatted up the regulars. The food was decent but the service was under par. After our meals were delivered, we couldn't find a waiter to bring us pepper for 5-10 minutes. The 16 inch pepper shaker was plopped down on our table, as the waiter did another disappearing act.

Simply outstanding!!!
Felt special on numerous occasions throughout the evening. Started with valet parking.
Brought my own high end Cab that was decanted.
PEI oysters were some of the best I ever had. Grilled octopus was delightful.
Duck with braised cabbage was a perfect medium rare. But the star of the show was the filet of venison - super tender and full of flavour.
Ended with the best coconut cream pie
Best ever!
Had an 8pm seating and stayed til after midnight
Very Highly Recommended!!!
Top 10 in Canada!
First Class - All The Way
This restaurant, almost hidden down a cul-de-sac lane, is a bit of a find. Around for 40+ years, it has the charm and elegance of a spot that is both contemporary, and classic, at the same time.
Our waiter, Kevin, was top notch. The sommolier, Colin, was knowledgeable. Each dish was spot-one tastey, and well-proportioned. We went for our anniversary, and will certainly return for the good food, good atmosphere, and outstanding culinary experience.
Excellent as expected
This is the perfect place for an anniversary dinner. The atmosphere is relaxing, the view very good, the service impeccable, and the food first-rate. We hadn't been at Scaramouche since the pandemic hit, and we were glad to get back. I had the beet salad, the duck breast and the chocolate ganache and was impressed. The other members of our party were as well. A nice bottle of Morgon completed the dinner. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyGreat dinner as always!
Back in Toronto for appointments and decided to treat ourselves to dinner.
As always, a great experience - food, atmosphere and service! Our waiter Colin was amazing and we were so happy to be back for in person dining!
Great to be back even with social distancing and reduced capacity in the dining room!
We talked about coming here for a long time
My girlfriends birthday was the perfect occasion.
We sat inside and enjoyed the incredible view.
Scaramouch lives up to the reviews.
Great ambiance, Great food and great service.
The checked all 3 boxes and then some.
We loved the food, enjoyed the service and we plan on coming back!!!
Scamarouche is for les fines bouches
Scaramouche was a wonderful dining experience.
Made even lovelier by Michael and his colleagues.
Here you will find a great view of downtown Toronto, a menu made of French classics, and great products prepared with remarkable talent.
They were kind enough to split EVERY dish we ordered to make life easier for us, and to accommodate my wife's intolerance to goat cheese.
We had oysters, tuna tartare, lobster and the rack of lamb. Everything was cooked to perfection, lobster was melting in our mouth, lamb was incredibly tender, tuna was absolutely amazing, and Lucky Lime PEI oysters were delicious. They serve oysters with lemon, horseradish and a special condiment which we could not identify, it seemed to be shallots marinated in a mignonette, anyhow it was awesome.
Desserts were up to par, best coconut cream pie ever.
If you are a foodie looking for a great dinner in Toronto, book a table, you won't be disappointed.
