AMAZING!!!!!!!!! BEST service and food, I am heartbroken
AMAZING!!!!!!!!! BEST service and food, I am heartbroken they had to close. PLEASE come back, Samba survived NYC during the pandemic, please please return to us posh hungry New Yorkers.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and service was amazing.
I cannot say enough about this place. The food is authentic, the atmosphere is wonderful not to loud not to quiet and the staff was very accommodating. I'm so full right now from the food I ate. Definitely coming back.

Today was my first return to Samba Kitchen since the pandemic. Also my first visit to the new smaller location on West 50th. We were not hungry, just thirsty, on this beautiful early summer day, so we just ordered amazing caipirinhas. The caipirinhas brought back great memories of happy hours before the pandemic and I am feeling happy sitting and sipping outside under the Brazilian flag, a great afternoon. Definitely come here for the drinks plus great Brazilian food and music.

What a wonderful little surprise! They were able to make me an absolutely delicious vegan feijoada! The chef was knowledgeable and everyone was so very friendly! A great little place if you are looking for authentic and yummy Brazilian food in New York City. : )

Glad we tried it. Ordered the beef stroganoff, feijoada, shrimp in coconut sauce, and sausage with yucca fries. Our favorite was the strogonoff. Meat was tender and loved the potato crisps that came with the dish. The feijoada was on the heavy side but was delicious when topped on white rice. The meat was tender in it and the portion size was so generous. The shrimp dish was okay. It didn't have a deep flavor and a tad too oily for us. Sausage and yucca fries was just a straightforward dish. Yucca and sausage. Ended up eating the sausage for breakfast with eggs and rice like a Guam/ Hawaii breakfast. Yucca fries were good when reheated in our air fryer.

My friend and I were craving brazilian food and decided to try out this restaurant. Interior: It was a very small store front that looked like it was mainly a takeout place. We were able to sit in the little outdoor area which was pretty nice. I would definitely recommend outside as opposed to the indoor area as it was super smokey from the cooking. Food: we both got the pichana steak. The steak was on the drier side and didn't hold much flavor. The beans and vinagrete didn't hold much flavor either and was just on the oilier side overall. The brazilian cheese bread were super yummy though! Service: The waitress was definitely attentive and nice. Overall: I probably would not go out of my way to dine here again

Samba Kitchen is a solid Brazilian spot, but be warned: it has completely changed from its previous location and is now very different from the old pictures you will see on this Yelp page. It is now a little spot with only 3 tables inside with a couple outdoor tables and a very limited menu. I tried a bunch of different small plates:Brazilian cheese bread (4 for $4)- the bread was like a mochi dough kind of chewy consistency with cheese in the middle, very pleasantChicken croquettes (6 for $15)- nice, almost creamy consistency inside with a fried outsideEmpanadas (one ground beef and one cheese) (2 for $8)- decent but there was quite a lot of empty room within them, so they could've had more fillingSweet plantains (whole plate for $7)- these were great, very soft and sweet with a kind of crispy outsideAs mentioned, the interior is very small, and it has pretty standard interior decor with a semi-open kitchen, a cute LED sign, and they display some Brazilian snacks (which I assume are for sale). I came on a Saturday night and the other two tables were both occupied. The lady who seemed to be running the place was friendly and the service speed was pretty quick.Important note: This place only accepts cash or Venmo (no credit cards).Overall, Samba Kitchen is a great spot for a casual meal if you are looking for some tasty small plates of Brazilian foods (they also have a couple larger dishes, but I didn't try those). Don't expect a Brazilian steakhouse kind of place, and if you don't mind a small space with a small menu, then Samba Kitchen could be a solid option for you.
Be the first to ReplyFYI, as other recent reviews have mentioned, Samba Kitchen
FYI, as other recent reviews have mentioned, Samba Kitchen has become more of a fast casual place vs their old establishment as a sit down restaurant. With that said, this is still darn good comfort and soul food. Started with some Brazilian cheese bread, which was so good - the texture is kind of like mochi, but it's buttery/cheesy goodness. The caipirinha was a perfect elixir after a long day at work. The picanha was delicious - a very flavorful cut of meat, very tender despite being a thin cut. With that said, this place definitely isn't cheap - I think the price is a bit high given it's fast casual now. Food and drink is good though. Be prepared to wait during peak hours, because there is limited staff, and they are often scrambling with their to-go orders.

Don't come here. Go to Berimbau. It's COMPLETELY different now. I came in oct 2021, and retrospectively looking, looks like all their great reviews are from their old location. This place is now a teeny tiny hole in the wall, but keeps the same prices. Bleh ambiance, esp outside is basically non existent. Inside is cute-sy so did a decent job there, but feels more like a casual spot yet charging full nice sit down restaurant prices. With small portions too. So I think they just carried everything over to their new location for cheaper rent, but didn't change the price which makes you feel jypped on the experience. But now, my BIGGEST gripe is the food. SO disappointed. NYC has amazing food and wasted a dinner here.Pao de quejo - 1/5. Tastes like frozen reheated. Or made a long time ago and just been sittingMoqueca - 2/5. Just tastes like generic tomato paste type sauce with average shrimp. I could make something better myself at home. Feijoada - 3/5. Best thing here. This did have a good amount of meat and it was tender & well made . Flavor is pretty good, though nothing too special, and did get a bit monotonous as you get through the fuss.

Came here after being rudely greeted at a steakhouse, and wasn't disappointed! 2nd time visiting and food was still amazing.
Be the first to ReplyStay away from this place.
I've added this restaurant to my "avoid" restaurant list due to bad food quality. I've ordered steak for $24 which tasted like rubber and was very cheap cut. The place is nothing like photos or reviews on yelp. The inside is tiny and can sit 3-5 people. The outside area can sit 8 people and they have a heater. There is no bar. I think they are using yelp rating/photos from previous business which I guess was better to run this hole in the wall joint. This is definitely not Brazilian food.

The music, the food! It's a whole vibe. Check it out I promise you won't be disappointed.

Ordered pickup since it's a neighborhood restaurant and it always looks so bright, clean and they usually have people seated and are busy which would lead you to think they must be good especially with these reviews. The best thing I had was their customer service. I ordered the pao de quiejo- which came out of a Brazilian branded bag from a freezer drawer. Enough said. Also had the shrimp stew / moqueca de camarao- canned tomato soup with sliced onions, red and green peppers and 9 medium shrimp - one was mush but the other 8 were fresh and not over cooked. I expected so much better, and was so sadly disappointed by the below average flavor. Only reason I won't give 2 stars is because I respect the effort and support my neighbors and there are worse neighborhood eateries so 3 stars. Lol as a little extra something something they put a piece of Brazilian gum/candy. Maybe I got the wrong dishes but I won't be going back to find out.

Just FYI the restaurant changed locations, it is totally different from the pictures on yelp from a few years ago. The restaurant is now a small garden/basement level, with 2 tables inside and a handful of additional tables outside. Wouldn't recommend sitting inside during the summer, there was no A/C and it was kinda hot in there. Also I think to get to the bathroom, you have to go through the kitchen.Food was pretty good, our table got the shrimp curry, steak, chicken croquettes and cheese bread knots. Menu is small but there's good variety. Felt a little on the expensive side given the new location and service.

They closed the old shop (which are all the yelp photos about) and opened a small new place due to the pandemic. Setups:The environment is worrying, one needs to go through the kitchen to use the bathroom. Never have I seen so many flies and bugs in a restaurant bathroom. I sat outside, and got many mosquito bites.Food:The menu is largely reduced, not many items to choose from. They served in plain bowls, with medium portion. But they tasted okay.Overall, a bit overpriced for this almost "fast food " like experience
Be the first to ReplyCOME TO SAMBA!!!! One of the best meals I've had in NYC.
I got the 6 piece order of chicken croquettes and I'm in a food coma as I type this. I only ate 3 of the 6. I also had their Brazilian version of a mojito and it was excellent.

We ended up in this restaurant while visiting NY, we ordered steak with rice and beans , it was really good. The restaurant is very small in the inside but we were able to get a table. Customer service was good as well.
