Interesting small plates that delivered big on flavor!
We were very happy with our first visit to SALT. We were only in town for one night and wanted a great dining experience- this was it. All of the plates we had were delicious and their smaller sizes allow you to try multiple offerings - which we did. Everything was stellar except the black sesame cake for dessert- too dry and crumbly but they made it right. Worth trying out for sure.

Very good small plates! We ordered:
1. White bean purรฉe
2. Corn fritters
3. Calamari
4. Anchovies
5. Fried oysters
6. Chicken liver pรขtรฉ
7. Bison tartare
8. Wild boar osso buco
9. Venison short ribs.
All excellent. Also ordered two desserts: panna cotta with black sesame caramel sauce and corn cake with honey. The corn cake was particularly good. Excellent service. Reservation is a must.
Salt+ CLE is an amazing experience!
Iโve found my new favorite CLE restaurant. Salt+ is legit the sh**! Iโve posted in prior reviews about my harrowing food allergies and the uber necessity of having to call ahead to restaurants to prequalify them. Good times. I have been aching to try Salt and had a great reason to get there. Beauโs birthday. So I called!
First interaction > A+. I asked the hostess my normal questions. A first in my experience - she offered to have Chef call me to further discuss menu options. Dang. Yes, please.
Second interaction > A+. Co-owner and mixologist, Jessica, gave me a call. What a lovely human being. Kind beyond words. We talked through options and she said to let the server know when we arrived.
Third interaction (the restaurant) >A+. First time here for the both of us. Gorgeous AF interior. Rustic minimalism. Elevated farm-to-table look/feel. Dreamy EDM music filtering through. I Shazammed a few. Recognized Tycho. A fave. I know this will be good.
Fourth Interaction > sweetheart server, Molly. A+. Soft-spoken, knowledgeable. Offered helpful recos. Perfect pace and attentiveness. She sent Jessica over.
Fifth interaction A+. Patient. Bless her. We talked through each dish. What was possible and not possible. She asked Chef Jill questions based on my limitations and settled on 3 Kim-proofed versions:
Sixth interaction > the food A+. (1) Red Snapper, (2) Mussels and (3) Venison tenderloin. Iโd like to recommend adding these renditions to the menu. Flabbergastingly great. The venison was so tender and cooked to a perfect temp. The Red Snapper was also cooked to a delicate finish, respecting the flavor and texture of the fish. The mussels were perfect. I would have drank the broth if no one was looking. Beau (sans allergy limitations) selected the Pork Meatballs in pineapple marmalade; the latter distinguishing it from other (yawn) meatballs. He also chose the octopus, the only picture I took. Mad I didnโt take more. He described it as tender and flavorful. Heโd tried octopus at another CLE restaurant and had commented โrubberyโ. Not at Salt+. Perfection. Last dish was the Calamari in coriander and coconut glaze. Drop mic. His favorite. Tender, succulent, perfect spice finish. I have to replicate this with gluten free flour. I LOVE calamari.
Seventh interaction > Chef Jill stopping by table A+. A James Beard award semifinalist who truly cares about delivering a unique experience. Again, the kindness, care and devotion to a unique and special experience. Jโadore.
Eighth interaction > birthday dessert A+. On the house, to boot. (Kind). Toasted coconut pound cake with caramel sauce. Easy sum-up. Slurp. Beau got every crumb and liquid off the plate with his fork. Confirmation.
Last nod to the choiceful cocktail and wine list. My Pinot Gris was wonderful. Beauโs Viuex Carre - also delish. Some really cool craft cocktail variations that play off of a brilliant menu.
Thank you Salt+ for a memorable experience. Truly remarkable.
Last interaction > this review... a joy to write up. Keep on truckinโ.
Distinctive flavorful food
We go here occasionally before a concert or with friends who live in the area. Each time we're impressed by the innovative small plates and think "why don't we come here more often?"

Great restaurant in Lakewood . Nice chic atmosphere but very comfortable . Great vibe in the bar area and dining room. Did I mention the food ? Fantastic . Small plates to share with many options . The quality and taste were simply great . Can't wait to go back .

Great food! We shared small plates. The cocktails were great as well. Highly recommend this quaint establishment.

Small plates, I would recommend two for each person plus one as an appetizer.
Overall good experience, although since Iโm a basic eater I was limited in my meat choices. Rabbit and Lamb are not my thing. That said, the pork bellies were delicious.
Service was great.
The salt theme is not overwhelming or any difference than any other restaurant.
Never eat a entree again
Great restaurant. All small plates. Great food. Why order a large entree at a restaurant when you can have adventure and discovery with three small plates. Yes, for an entree, you might not risk ordering something a little different, but with small plates the risk is so much less and can open your world to new combinations and flavors.
Be the first to Replygreat place for tapas and other small dishes. very varied menu
Lovely and unique place with an eclectic menu of small plates and tapa themed dishes. Lots to pick from so something for everyone. Not inexpensive.

it's no surprise Jill Vedaa has been nominated for Best Chef by the James Beard Foundation. Vegetables sing coming out of her kitchen. They surprise you, tantalize your tongue, and then melt in your mouth. Meats are charred, crisp, juicy....and seafood is gently coaxed into perfect balance.
Rejoice that Salt is a small plates venue because you're going to want to try every plate on the menu.
Excellent Dinner Although Somewhat Loud
We had dinner there on 3/30 and the food, service and environment were great even way back by the kitchen. But we sat next to a table of four that could not care less who was around them. Anyway, we started our first of four plates with sweet and sour squash. It was amazing and so we went to calamari with coconut glaze which was chewy but good. Then we had the duck leg confit which was excellent. And our Server was very helpful during this. Finally we had dessert which was not on the menu. We had the chocolate mousse and I had the cake. It really was an interesting dinner and not too expensive. Each dish was complex and yet very quick. The menus stayed on the table and my guess is about 7 minutes from order to service of each small plate.
