Saloon Restaurant Philadelphia Reviews from The Last Year
This was my first time at Saloon even though my fiancé's
This was my first time at Saloon even though my fiancé's family have been multiple times before. I've heard great things from them and was excited to try it after wedding venue tours in Philly earlier in the day. Anyone who knows me understands how much I hate driving in and parking in Philadelphia. A huge plus about Saloon is that they have a complementary parking lot for paying guests a block or so from the restaurant. An attendant parks your car for you and works for tips. This is so refreshing not having to stress about parking and walking blocks to a restaurant. We walked in without reservations around 5:30 on a Wednesday and they had zero issue seating us even though it was packed by the time we ate and left. There is a bar downstairs right as you walk in the door and another bar upstairs with lots of seating on both levels. The building looks and feels old in a good way. You can tell it has so much history and character. We started off with a round of drinks, each of us got a manhattan made with Woodford and boy did they hit the spot. The martini glasses were big and fit nicely in your hand. We also ordered clams casino to split. The clams tasted great and had a beautiful crust on top. The three of us who got manhattans also all ordered braciole. My fiancé's family LOVES braciole and as soon as they saw it on the menu they made their mind up. This was my first time having braciole. I loved the pancetta and spinach, and the steak very tender. Everyone loved it. It was also served with 2 ravioli which were delicious themselves. Our server was sweet and professional, and the busboys were efficient. Props to our server for memorizing the lengthy entire specials list. For my first time here at the saloon and my first time having braciole I'd say everything was what I'd hope it'd be and more
The last of the "dinner club" feel restaurants.
People are dressed for dinner. Staff are wonderful, great looking and attentive. The food is excellent and fairly priced. Drinks are excellent and priced below the typical rates of city venues. Free parking.

We had a wonderful dinner at the Saloon Restaurant on Friday June 21! Excellent service and great atmosphere! Thank you! See you soon!
One of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to.
Had clams casino and eggplant parm for appetizers. Penne vodka, New York strip, and bolognese were all great. The veal parm was the best ever had. All service was great. Nicky and Gregory in the parking lot were great guys.
Came in for a drink before resies at Dante's.
Barkeep was a gentleman right out of central casting with an excellent pour and even better conversation. We decided to ask if they could take us for dinner and they had a cancellation so yes! I'm going to go out on a limb here...we've lived in NYC, Seattle, and San Fran....this is the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to!! Impeccable service by well dressed attractive and supremely competent waitresses. Amazing room, 100 year old wood molding and bar. The food was incredible. Yeah, its well known that this place has some special "connections", and that does add to the charm. Get the app sampler with all their best apps. Best clams casino around and the clams pavorati were original and sublime. Pappardelle bolonaisse and veal saltimboca were amazing.

Great time had by all Pesto oil on the bread was delicious,Chicken Parm on the bone was amazing.Service was excellent
My wife & I came here the other night.
... Food was great, service was EVEN BETTER. My problem arose when I overheard the manager talking to his all-female staff like literal trash.... Calling them all types of names, not letting them respond without yelling over them. Totally outside the scope of normal managerial reprimanding & more towards abusive toxic behavior. I will be back to see if they've improved & if they haven't, I will have to contact the Better Business Bureau. It's a shame because the actual establishment & service were amazing.

Enjoyed the takeout experience of eggplant parmigiana and Caesar salad. It's not the best I ever had but close, and better than most. No pasta is included but that makes sense given the quality. Old school Italian on somewhat narrow Philly street in the heart of South Philly (I'm not expert). Darkly lit and nice ambience for a dinner out or sitting at the bar for a chat.
Not an exaggeration, best steak I've ever had.
The 11oz Truffle Filet was amazing. Ordered rare, it was perfect. Wife and I spent an anniversary dinner here. Service was very attentive, valet parking was appreciated, scallops were perfectly cooked. But that Truffle Filet.... It was so good. The pesto served with the bread was also awesome.
Probably the BEST ITALIAN food I've ever had.
Took my daughter when she came to visit and she immediately said this is the one place she would go back to. The Alfredo is buttery and melts in your mouth. The filet is divine! Can't say enough good things
Hadn't been here in 20 years! What a mistake.
Food, service and ambience were all top notch. Veal Chop Parmesan and Linguine Pescatore we're delicious
When I'm taken to an "Old School" Italian restaurant,
When I'm taken to an "Old School" Italian restaurant, anytime or anywhere, I have a smile on my face so large, you need a chisel to knock it off! That's how I felt last night walking into The Saloon Restaurant here in Philadelphia, near Cianfrani Park. My youngest boy and his fiancée took me and my wife here for dinner, and we were so impressed with this amazing two story restaurant that is making some of the best Italian classic dishes along with very inventive Italian specials dishes. I love the whole front of the house bar thing along with all of the old school decorations - it's just a "Feel Good" thing for me! Now, the food: * The bar was mixing fantastic cocktails. My gin martini was so good I sipped it ever so slowly * Their Caesar Salad is top notch - I just loved it * My Veal Parmigiana was (once again) old school, just the way I like it * My wife's Chicken Milanese had all of the trimmings she likes so much, so she was a happy camper * Our sons Pasta Bolognese was delicious * His Fiancée's Angel Hair pasta with crab was delectable * The Carpaccio was perfect * Our bottle of Ratti Barbera was an excellent addition for this dinner * The Rice pudding dessert was spot on The service was exceptional and the ambience was completely in my zone which made this evenings meal so gratifying. My wife and I so enjoy flying to each city our four sons live in. With food like we had this night, Philadelphia is edging out the other three cities.
Saloon a Philly legend for many years remains untouchable
Saloon a Philly legend for many years remains untouchable for fine dining experience. Staff are very attentive and gracious. Salads are a must and the Porterhouse melts like butter and cooked to perfection. Can't go wrong with any of their recommendations from staff or specials too. Desserts are plentiful to choose from and great end to a wonderful meal. Parking is free and super close and staff are friendly inside and out. Great place for romantic or special occasions. Reservations are a must.
My girl and I went last night to the great and classy
My girl and I went last night to the great and classy Saloon last night. I hung out with Freddie the bartender who made me a very smooth Aperitivo Campari spritz. We had a very late seating (9:15) but the place was still buzzing. Unfortunately, last night's meal was a bit uneven which is extremely rare here. The Clams Pavarotti 5 stars), as always, were in the stratosphere of flavor. However, the Octopus salad, (3 stars) while plentiful, did not have the freshest octopus. We both ordered the Scallop Special with the crabmeat which honestly was not the best I've ever had there (3.5 stars). Our waitress (5 stars) was amazing, classy who was professional and knew her stuff. The waitresses assistant (2 stars), was a bit too eager to take my stuff away and actually put his hand across my body to remove the bread. This was a brave move! In summary, I will be back here very soon and even the classiest and finest restaurant in South Philly can have an off night at 9:15 pm.

I love this place! The atmosphere is amazing and the service was top-notch. It's a real old-school Italian place that felt like it was right out of Italy. also loved the drinks and all the food that we got! Especially the petite fillet was my favorite. I will be back for that alone.
Favorite old school Italian restaurant in Philadelphia
Favorite old school Italian restaurant in Philadelphia hands down! Nothing compares in the city!
I've been trying to write this review for Saloon since I
I've been trying to write this review for Saloon since I went a month ago, but I just haven't been able to. This has never happened to me before. I'm not sure why my writer's block has been so formidable, but I really haven't been able to pen anything. The only thing I can think of is that Kendrick Lamar lyric when he says: "Writer's block for two years, nothin' moved me, Asked God to speak through me..." It's just on loop for me when I try to detail how beautiful this place is. The only words I have been able to come up with to describe the authentic Italian energy and decor of Saloon is "Quintessential New York," but I don't want to say that because it's so trite and boring. I begin detailing how fantastic this 11oz Truffle Filet topped with herb truffle butter and a side of mashed potatoes was, but all I can hear between my ears is Kendricks weird, nasally voice saying "Writers block for two years, nothin moved me..." As I try to find the words to describe how delicious this homemade bolognese was and pair those adjectives with a witty and kind of funny metaphor, I just start thinking "God I hope this writer's block doesn't last two years......." Maybe it's because Saloon is my girlfriend's favorite restaurant in Philly, and I know she'll be going over this with a fine tooth comb. Or Perhaps it's because I felt so underdressed in my plain white t, oversized Alo corduroy button down, and Jeans that I don't want to relive that experience. Or it could be that the Negroni and glass of Montepulciano I had hit me harder than I thought and I can't authentically recall the experience like I want to. It could simply be that I'm just not who I thought I was. Maybe I don't deserve the Yelp Rookie of the year award. Or maybe, just maybe, it's because certain experiences are so moving that they are truly ineffable. Sorry, Saloon. I'll come back one day and update a review that isn't brought to you by writers block, because you deserve it. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__
Loved! Came here for a special occasion and it checked off
Loved! Came here for a special occasion and it checked off all the boxes. The ambiance was cozy, romantic, and festive for the holiday season. The service was friendly and well-paced. And the food was delicious. To start, we got the tuna crudo and mussels. Then for our entrees, we got the filet with truffle butter and mashed potatoes and the seafood linguini. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
One of the best Italian restaurants in Philly! Excellent
One of the best Italian restaurants in Philly! Excellent homemade food! We started with a perfectly cooked eggplant with cheese. We died and went to heaven! The Veal parm was cooked so tender you can cut it with a fork. The service Exceptional! We can't wait to return! FYI beautiful ambiance!
I have wanted to dine here for years.
We had dinner 5pm Tuesday 12.5.23 for my birthday. We managed to arrive early at 4:45 due to lack of traffic coming in. My phone said the restaurant was open so we tried the door but it was locked. No big deal I was tipping the Uber on my phone and figured we would wait. The bartender unlocked the door and offered us to sit at the bar until they actually open. She did not have to do that and it was greatly appreciated. Service and food was phenomenal. I loved the old world charm of the dark interior and all the varied lights. They had red roses on each table. Old woodwork abounds. I loved the ambiance. The complimentary bread and fresh pesto to start was delicious. We had Joel Gott Cab and a Lychee Martini for drinks. To start: *Tuna Carpaccio-yellowfin tuna pounded thin and served raw; topped with oranges, arugula, capers and lemon olive oil * Pear and Burrata Salad -arugula, dried Turkish apricots, pine nuts in a Nocella dressing Entrees *Scallop Special With Lump Crab In Cognac Sauce Over Linguini * Lobster Francaise -South African lobster tail out of its shell, dipped in a light egg batter and sautéed in white wine, lemon and butter sauce; jumbo lump crab meat Dessert *Lemon Layer Cake My tuna carpaccio was so bright and fresh I couldn't stop eating it. The Burrata was very fresh and a great mix of flavors. The lobster was cooked perfectly it practically melted like butter when cut. The scallops were cooked spot on as well and the cognac sauce was scrumptious. Everything was delicious and perfectly executed. Our server was professional, attentive, and friendly. We felt welcomed during our visit despite not being from the area nor being regulars. Highly recommend this spot. I wished we lived closer.
Delicious
Old school South Philly Italian food. Every dish we tried was delicious. The pasta, the seafood, the meat were all cooked to perfection. Service was great. Loved the classic vibe.

Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate

Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Yes unfortunately they are finding more and more ways to lock up sellers money. Sell thru rate, refund rate, limiting withdrawal amounts ler day and per month (which for me are the same number which makes no sense). Lot of sellers leaving as you can see from the lifetime sales not really increasing. Most posts on here are frustrated sellers which is not a recipe for success

I’m sorry to hear about this - I’m a brand new seller on the platform and didn’t realize this was a *thing* - any chance you can point me to the fine print/documentation where this policy is stated (also identifying other caveats like this would be appreciated)?
