Salamat is a cute bistro-style cafe serving up Northern Iraqi-style food. I have visited here a few times, as I am living nearby and I have been lucky enough to try a few different dishes. The food tastes good but doesn't photograph well. Start with the garbanzo bean/chickpea soup (German: kicherersensuppe), it is really wonderful with a tomato-based broth and is served with fresh bread. Salamat plate (#27), is vegetarian and has a few really special items including Kobba (a rice and potato filled dumpling), and a pastilla (German: pastille) phyllo dough rolled and filled with feta and herbs. I can't explain this but the halloumi here is really delicious, more so then other restaurants.

It's good but not outstanding. The only thing that truly stood out were the spicy sauce which is a bit nicely sweet and sour. The falafels were not bad. Rest in terms of hummus, baba ganoush etc were underwhelming. It's a good place that I'd might consider coming back for when I am close by but not a place I'd become a regular customer for.

Found this place on accident during my trip to Berlin and it was also my first time having Arabic food. I got the mixed plates of chicken and vegetarian, comes with yogurt sauce, salad, falafel. The flavors were awesome, nothing I've tasted before in the US. Great atmosphere too.

The food is so fresh. The menu is large, but I've tried a lot and every little bit is made with love. Teas, fresh juices, soups, vegetarian dishes and of course Schawarma. And the staff is so nice. Perfect to sit in a cozy atmosphere. You can also take away everything, and though you can also have Falafel in a bread or different delicious soups for the same price as elsewhere, you can't compare it to a takeaway. The Falafel and Halloumi are made with aromatic herbs and the plates have four different aromatic sauces. Falafel is a classics in Berlin but this sets standards.
