Sakhalin Moskva Reviews from The Last Year
Sakhalin is no longer the same
Noisy and uncomfortable. Huge tables and you can’t shout enough. The sommelier is impolite to the point of impudence. The waiter served the dessert, holding the bowl by the side with his finger inward. They called the administrator and waited for 30 minutes, but no one came. Those who cook have a hairnet on their heads, but almost everyone has a beard and is not protected by anything - this is not hygienic. We were here 2 years ago and there was a dress code then. It has now been cancelled, which is a shame.
Saturday visit
The kitchen is excellent, thank you. But guys, do something about your service - this is terrible for a restaurant of this level - the waiters seem to be from another planet -(
The Worst Service I Have Experienced at any Restaurant in the World
I’ve eaten at restaurants in 36 countries around the world. My experience with Sakhalin is the worst service I have ever known. No restaurant is perfect. Mistakes will always occur no matter how good the staff, or the training given. The true test of a restaurant is how it reacts when a mistake has been made. It is in these moments that it has opportunity to step up and demonstrate how much they care. Sadly in the case of Sakhalin, they demonstrated the complete opposite. I’ve been a big fan of White Rabbit Family (WRF) restaurants. I don’t live in Russia but whenever I visit the country I eat at WRF restaurants and have visited 15 of their establishments. During a 10 day trip to Sochi, Krasnaya Polyana & Moscow in Autumn I ate at a WRF restaurant every day of the trip. It therefore saddens me to write this review. I gave the restaurant ample opportunity to correctly respond to what had happened, but they utterly failed. I ate at Sakhalin in Moscow on 20 December 2023. I informed the waiter before ordering that I cannot eat gluten (due to a very strong intolerance). When I placed my order he checked with the kitchen and told me that some of my choices contained gluten, I therefore selected other dishes from the menu which the waiter advised me were gluten free. I was also given gluten free bread which I enjoyed. When it came to ordering dessert, my first choice was the Mochi with Mango, however the waiter told me that this dish contained gluten. I was surprised as Mochi has always been a gluten free dish in my experience. The waiter checked the information and told me that the gluten free dessert options available to me were the Pavlova, the Panna Cotta and the Honey Cake. I was a little surprised that the Honey Cake was gluten free so doubled checked this with him. I said "the Honey Cake is definitely gluten free?" He said "yes it is without gluten". So I went ahead and ordered the Honey Cake. A few hours after the meal I began to experience a great deal of stomach pain. I emailed the restaurant the following day to ask them if the Honey Cake contained gluten (as this was the only thing I could think which could have caused such pain). The restaurant replied quickly stating “yes, this dessert contains gluten”. I then replied to the restaurant informing them that I wished to make a complaint and explained all of the above and that I had had very little sleep due to the stomach pain I was experiencing. The restaurant replied quickly, asking for my contact number and that a restaurant manager would contact me. I replied with my telephone number at 13:42 on 21 December. Over 3 weeks later on 13 January I had still not received any contact from any managers at Sakhalin, so I emailed the restaurant again to point out that I had waited over 3 weeks and no one had contacted me. Later that day I finally received a message on both WhatsApp and via email stating: “Good evening, my name is Daria, manager of the Sakhalin restaurant. I am very sorry that we did not respond immediately to your complaint. I apologize for this. We would like to invite you to our restaurant for dinner to correct your impression of us. What time would be convenient for you? Or maybe we can send dinner home for you? Sincerely, Daria” I replied thanking her for the message. I explained that I do not live in Moscow but visit often and plan to visit next month (February). I told her that I would consider her offer and let her know. I explained that I suffered with a lot of stomach pain for 3 days as a result of what happened on my last visit to Sakhalin. Which made me reluctant to return as it was a very unpleasant experience. Daria replied stating: “Good evening. Thank you very much for your feedback. It is very important for us to correct your impression. We look forward to seeing you. Sincerely, Daria.” What really surprised me was that after over 3 weeks since my complaint, no one from the restaurant had even offered an apology for what had happened. The only apology I had received was for the fact it had taken so long for someone to contact me. I was due to fly to Moscow on 16 February with my girlfriend and decided to accept the offer from Daria of dinner at Sakhalin. I hoped that the apparent lack of willingness to apologise for the error made by the restaurant could be put down to some language barrier over text. Sadly I was greatly mistaken. I wrote to the Sakhalin manager Daria on Friday 16th February, informing her I would be visiting Moscow with my girlfriend and that if her invitation was still open, did they have a table for 2 people available on Sunday 18 February at 16:00. She replied to say that they were happy to see us and that she had made the reservation. In an ideal world, if Sakhalin cared about trying to improve my impression of them after their huge error on my previous visit, something like the following would have happened; Upon arrival we would have been taken to a nice table, the manager on duty would have then come over to the table, introduced themselves, given a genuine apology for what had occurred on my previous visit, reassured me that they have since taken steps to give refresher training to staff to ensure that those kind of mistakes are not repeated, further reassured me that they had personally spoken to the head chef who will be ensuring that every dish served to me was gluten free, and offered us at the very least something complimentary by way of apology. Any self-respecting restaurant would also have refunded me in full for the meal I ate on the previous visit considering the magnitude of the mistake made. Sadly the only element of the above that occurred was that we were given a nice table next to the window (table 24). Other than that, nothing. There was no acknowledgement whatsoever regarding my previous visit and compliant, let alone any sort of apology. No manager spoke to us and we were charged full price for every dish. Why invite me to the restaurant for that? Is it really so hard to apologise to a customer when your staff have made such a huge error? I left Sakhalin shocked and saddened. Not only does the restaurant not care about what happened, they seem determined to make sure I’m left in no doubt of their lack of care. Sakhalin considers itself to be one of the top restaurants in Moscow and was awarded a Michelin Star in 2022. I’m flabbergasted at the complete lack of care from a restaurant at this level. As I said at the start of this review, this has been the worst service I have ever experienced at any restaurant in the world. The fact it occurred at a Michelin Star restaurant I find quite unbelievable. Boris Zarkov and Vladimir Mukhin have built a fantastic collection of restaurants with WRF, but if they are left in the hands on management such as Sakhalin, their family of restaurants will develop a terrible reputation. You simply cannot treat customers this way in the hospitality service industry and expect to remain at the top.
From a restaurant of this level, you expect an appropriate level of service.
I'll start with the cons 1. They brought a dirty sauce boat, either they poured the sauce carelessly, or they carried it in such a way that when they put it on the table, the wonderful sauce flowed in streams onto the white tablecloth. Both waiters (the one who brought out the meat and the girl who brought this sauce) didn’t even move to wipe it or bring the plate, so they placed the dirty gravy boat on the table. Already before desserts they brought a white napkin and covered the stains - but this of course... is not the level of a restaurant... 2. Coffee with desserts - why? why do you bring coffee and only 10 minutes later dessert, when even if you haven’t drunk the coffee, it’s still cold???? 3. In general, the service was strange - we didn’t hear any hello/goodbye from the girls greeting us. Towards the end of our meal, we decided to find out why we came to the restaurant. Okay, we have no reason) Now for the food. It is clear that the restaurant is still more dedicated to fish and seafood. And that’s why I didn’t expect any incredible taste discoveries in this regard. There are no complaints about the quality of the products at all, only about some combinations and presentation of meat) I took the set. There are questions from the set for 1. tuna back tataki - there was a lot of pickled daikon, which simply overwhelmed everything. (And by the way, it’s not on the menu) 2. Phalanx of crab in white wine sauce with whitefish caviar - in fact, this is a crab swimming in a creamy sauce, in my opinion, this sauce makes the dish very heavy and is not very suitable here. Well, the icing on the cake is the presentation of meat. My husband took the Wagyu steak. The steak itself is very tender. It is served, as I understand it, on a heated plate. Which was also heated up for us, but the meat was brought about 15 minutes later, when the plate had completely cooled down.. What was the point of heating the plate??? And the main question is what temperature should the steak be when serving? In our opinion, the meat should have been a few degrees warmer. Well, a little less salt could have been done. From the unpleasant. When we were discussing this (not as a complaint against the restaurant, but as a shortcoming of the dish, because even so the steak was delicious), a passing waitress heard this, immediately scolded our waiter, and replaced him for us. This is so striking guys - and so unpleasant... I'll finish with the minuses with dessert. Rice panna cotta with soaked lingonberries and yuzu sorbet. Surprise, surprise - the lingonberries are also frozen. This would probably be the perfect dessert for the summer. Pros - it's certainly a bomb view.
After such a ruined birthday, I will not set foot in this restaurant, and I will not recommend it to anyone again!
I've been wanting to visit this place for quite some time. We decided to celebrate my mother's birthday here. We booked a table in advance and warned by phone that it was a person’s birthday. Great atmosphere of the place, panoramic view, table by the window, good menu, fresh seafood and delicious desserts. BUT THAT'S ALL OF THE ADVANTAGES! My mother was the first to come to the restaurant and asked where she should go. The hostess didn’t even bother to say hello, saying dryly: “Take off your clothes!” Further, I was outraged by the very long serving of dishes, Olivier salad with crab, which we waited for an hour. It turned out they simply forgot about him... 🤝 Also, the hostess came up to us and began to say that our booking time was coming to an end. While WE WERE NOT SERVED 4 more dishes. They tried to seat me and the birthday girl at a coffee table in the waiting room. Thanks to the guest who waited for us behind the bar. My mother was congratulated only after my reminder; one single waitress (a smiling, fair girl, unfortunately I don’t remember her name) she literally saved the whole situation🙏🏻 Bottom line: the dinner turned out to be rushed and the mood was ruined due to such a pigish attitude on the part of the staff. This was the only time I didn’t leave a tip, because there was simply NOTHING to leave! ‼️And the cherry on the cake:‼️ We also ordered a special set for 9500. And already leaving the restaurant, I remember that they did not bring us the “crab fist” dessert, which was part of this set, included in the bill.
The best restaurant in Moscow
For me the best in Moscow! Impeccable cuisine and service! Luxurious interior! Mind-blowing views of Moscow!
the best of the best !
I decided to leave a review about this wonderful place called “Sakhalin”. For a long time I dreamed of getting to see you, and finally I managed to come to Moscow. Honestly, I was in a pleasant shock.🥰 Everything is 10/10, and even more, from the hostess to the interior. The food is to die for, at the highest level, as a seafood connoisseur I was crazy about all the dishes. 🤌🏼🙈 I especially liked the desserts. Their presentation, and that each has its own story. No comments, you are the best. Special thanks to my waiter Dmitry. He is a professional in his field. Everything is clear, fast and beautiful. I hope that I will visit this amazing place again and of course I will recommend your restaurant to everyone ❤️❤️❤️
Michelinstar? Disappointing
Sakhalin has been on our wishlist for a couple of years especially because we've already been to a couple WRF-restaurants in Moscow. Actually, it was a big disappointment. From the beginning: - no introduction - 3 different waiters in the first 10 min - switching from English to Russian menus 2 times - stressed atmosphere (waiters looked quite annoyed) Food: - very, very expensive (quality) - zero presentation - fish was nothing special (although they have Michelin for fish restaurant?) - raw sushi rice Till the end: - long waiting for drinks & bill - plates got taking away from us while eating - eating with same cutlery for 2 same courses (cheap wooden chopsticks) On the other hand: - great location with a nice view.
Complete disappointment
We have been planning to visit this restaurant for a long time, especially considering that the restaurant is awarded a Michelin star. I will not compare it with other restaurants that have been awarded Michelin stars in one way or another, there is simply nothing to compare here at all. Let's write only about him. In short, the only good thing is the view from the windows. The rest is either bad or terrible. 1. Service at a very low level. We did not reserve a table in advance and were seated at the bar. There are no complaints about this, but we asked to be moved as soon as a table was free. We sat almost until the kitchen closed; there were many empty tables around, but no one offered us to change seats, although we told both the hostesses and waiters about it. Of course, I didn’t want to drink expensive wines from the decanter behind the bar... I personally haven’t sat with dirty dishes on the table for a long time that no one cleared away for at least 15 minutes. It was even interesting and unusual. At the same time, a certain stream of waiters kept flowing past us. Interestingly, the second course arrived before I finished the soup. By the way, they finally brought gin, although I asked to bring it along with the soup. To the question “What should I do now?” The answer was “I can take it back”.... Ridiculous. I thought that it was better to leave the second course, otherwise they could heat it up in the microwave, judging by the service..:). Part of the soup was thrown away and floated away along with the waiter... I would fire the restaurant manager after so many negative reviews of the service (see reviews below), the staff needs to be somehow worked and trained... In short, in terms of the level of service this restaurant does not even match roadside cafe, despite the fact that most of its waiters are from the fraternal republics, and it seems that the best waiters remained in their homeland... 2. Kitchen. If the restaurant did not boast a Michelin star, and the cost of the dishes were appropriate, then it would probably be plus or minus ok. But! The restaurant claims to offer haute cuisine. Just take a look at the attached photos. Where is she? The tastes are not bright, ordinary, none of the dishes we tried made an impression. The pieces of ordinary salad on the plate looked especially humorous, clearly hinting that Michelin had no place here (see photo). Overall a complete disappointment. We'll never go back again. To be fair, I would like to note that we did not take crudo, but there is a large selection of it. Perhaps for slicing raw fish and drinking wine with a view of Moscow - a good place, but not for us. Good luck losing your Michelin star (someday)….
Overrated
We chose it because the restaurant has a large menu with Far Eastern cuisine and we have long wanted to try Kamchatka crab. And even with a panoramic view of Moscow and the Stalinist skyscraper nearby! In addition to crab, here you can try fresh oysters, shrimp, eel, traditional Sakhalin snacks and soups prepared according to unique recipes. The restaurant has 2 floors and initially we were seated on the first, in the aisle right next to the kitchen. After we talked to the hostess to be seated, we were given a table on the 2nd floor overlooking the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Stalin building. The atmosphere in the restaurant is comfortable, but lacks authenticity. There is only a small aquarium with crabs, shellfish and sea urchins on the 1st floor. The crab itself turned out to be very tasty and the years of waiting and searching for a place where I could try it were worth it. 😋 But the service was weaker than in any other restaurant that does not have Michelin stars. They took a long time to take the order, mixed up the dishes and brought our orders to the next table. By price. Our check for 2 dishes and 2 glasses of champagne came out to 5800 rubles.

Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!

Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
