Sake No Hana New York Reviews from The Last Year
Good food
The ambiance is nice. The food is good and the drinks are delicious. We had reservation and we still had to wait. The hostess was more focused on being on her phone. We sat and waited by the bar. It took about 15 mins for someone to greet us and give us the drink menu. Our waitress was nice. We went to piano bar and that was a cute spot to get more drinks and listen to someone perform.
Simply- Must Go!
Fantastic service, ambiance and wonderful food. Very unique flavours and great for business. We had an array of fish and meat options and the dishes were so beautifully plated, with the taste to match! Will return!

Solid food, the vibe is sexy, lively and pretty young, which makes sense based on its location. The menu is extensive and our whole table (6 people) really enjoyed their meal. We did an assortment of sushi items for the table & some fried rice dishes- which were the most loved in our group.
Food and service was great, I didn't love the public
Food and service was great, I didn't love the public seating, it was too close together and crowded so it was very loud ! Had to shout across the table to be heard, so I ended up not speaking very much it was annoying. They had more private areas that were more inclosed feel like if I was there it might have been more enjoyable. Family style everything comes when it's ready so it's best to order a bunch of things and share. If your not comfortable with that this probably isn't the place for you or your group. We loved all the food except the noodles (everyone's least favorite)

Birthday dinner which was a hit!! Food was really good and tasty, from sushi to the T-bone and all the sides. We had some amazing wine followed by a great desert tray. Definitely a nice spot for dinner or celebrations.
This place was amazing.
From the moment we walked in, the ambience and hospitality of the front desk host to the end of the meal. Came for a drink work dinner and would recommend to anyone visiting or living in New York. The only item that wasn't a crowd pleaser were the oysters. We had an array of appetizers, including the chili crisp edamame, the gyoza, oysters, sugar almonds, and shishito peppers. For entrees, or table of 7 enjoyed the karaage chicken, four sushi rolls (shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, avocado and the wagu) of all, the only one we didn't enjoy was the wagu. Top two were the avocado tuna and the tempura shrimp!! Large plates we shared the short ribs pasta, the truffle carbonara, branzino and the steak. The steak was a hit across the board. Cooked and seasoned to perfection! For dessert, we had a complimentary birthday dessert (can't recall what it was, but not that great or memorable). However!! That matcha cake was absolutely divine. Even people in the group who don't like matcha were pleasantly surprised and all eyeballing each other to see who would get that last bite. The people assisting the server were great at clearing plates before each dish was served, clearing crumbs, and ensuring waters were full. I will 100% be back here next time in NY!
Not gonna go in details but the only dish I liked among
Not gonna go in details but the only dish I liked among what we ordered was the SHORTRIB YAKIMESHI (kyoto carrots, bone marrow) Word.
Disappointed
Downstairs inside the Moxy hotel - nice space, well designed. Food options were good, quality was slightly disappointing, particularly the King Crab. Service was not good, took a long time to ask for order and deliver drinks - came across overly arrogant and quite unfriendly. Expensive for the overall experience - wouldn't return
Came here for a special day and the food did not disappoint.
Made a reservation for two for a Sunday night and got seated in a cute corner. It wasn't packed, but there was a good amount of people. Their dress code is smart casual, but saw one or two people dressed down. To start off, we were greeted by our waitress who was overall very attentive throughout our entire meal. We ordered the Sweet Shrimp Tartare and sea urchin temaki, the Bluefin tuna toro tataki, the Wafu Carbonara, and the Ginza Chicken. The Sweet Shrimp Tartare and sea urchin was very good, but paying $37 for both, I would have expected a little more uni, as it was just barely a teaspoon. The Bluefin tuna toro tataki paired well with the sauce they poured. The Wafu Carbonara is a must get. We read the reviews here and had to try it for ourselves. It was delicious!!! The Ginza Chicken was decent, nothing special. The waitress had asked if we wanted anything like Edamame and we were under the impression that it was going to be on the house, but it was an additional $12; smart on her side. For dessert, we both got a cappuccino and shared the Matcha Tiramisu and Pineapple Mochi Cake. I absolutely loved the tiramisu and would get it again. The ambiance was very nice and the bathroom was clean, given that there is a washroom attendant. The bathroom is unisex, so it was weird to have a male washroom attendant right outside my stall. This is a place I would come back to try other dishes and the drinks as well.
HOT! HOT! HOT! This place is on fire! A total vibe.
Sake No Hana is dark, vibrant and sexy, with its spiral staircase entrance and vaulted bar area ceiling setting the stage for a beautifully appointed dining room. There is also private dining available. The service was on point, courteous and expedient considering how busy the restaurant was. Never needed to ask for a water refill. Be prepared though, it can get pretty loud. The food was exquisite! WE were a party of 7 and just decided family style selections from the menu. Try the sake selections. Presentation is meticulously planned. The craft cocktails are delicious as well! (my fave pictured). Bottom line, this Bowery gastronomic temple is a show stopper!
Let's start with the good.
The food was surprisingly good. Everything we ordered was delicious. The drinks were hit or miss. Some were great some too sweet. Our waitress was very on point. She gave us great recommendations and we enjoyed everything. So the bar was when we came at 6:30 pm with restaurant almost empty the hostess was trying to seat us on the first table that you just walk in right in the middle of then empty restaurant. When we asked for the better table we were told they are all reserved. We also reserved so I don't get the reply. You can't reserve a specific table there is no option for that. So after the hostess tried to pretend that she's looking for another table for us (meanwhile restaurant is almost empty) we were shortly seated. The waitress told us that that we have to be out in approximately 1 hour and 15min which is very poor etiquette for the restaurant considering we didn't just walk in we made reservations just like everyone else. Thought the dinner we felt rushed so I wouldn't be returning to this place even though it has great ambiance and food. People working in the restaurant making it seem that it's more important than it really is. It's just an Asian fusion it's not a Michelin star place you need to drop your attitude.
Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Food: 3.
5/5 I'll begin by saying this place is sexy af! From the decor, to the way patrons come dress-- I was in awe and alll the way here for it! We arrived over 15 mins, but luckily we were still seated. Something to note: make sure to follow up with the hostess periodically even if one person checks in and you're waiting for the reminder or your party; they'll be quick to give up your table without advising. At any rate, for starters, we ordered a few rolls: spicy yellowtail, shrimp tempura, and the A5 Wagyu one. They were all pretty good. We also got the edamame, which was very flavorful. For the main course, we ordered quite a few things, but the star was the Wafu Carbonara! I can't even explain the dish, just know it's a must get! Both the salmon and and the branzino were good, and my friend who ordered the lamb chops also enjoyed them. The waitress was great; however, the other workers will rush to grab your plate even while you're still eating-- I found that to be extremely distasteful.
The cauliflower tasted like dirty dishwater.
The sushi was okay. Went for my birthday and noted in reservation and when checking in with the host and they still couldn't care to put a candle in the dessert. It's saving grace was the bone marrow fried rice which would be the only dish I'd go back for.
Fantastic Night
We came here for dinner and absolutely loved it. The drink and service at the bar and also in the restaurant was gorgeous. Same for the food. 10/10
Came here tonight for Valentine's Day.
The cucumber salad and the edamame were fine- not bad at all but not amazing. The toro scallion sushi roll was really good, came with 6 pieces. The wagyu robata was actually my favorite thing and we had to order more. I wouldn't be mad if i came here and just got a bunch of those. The Branzino was okay and the lamb was okay also, needed a bit more salt. The entrees fell short but the robata and the sushi carried it to 4 stars. I put a picture of the Branzino for reference. The drinks were about $22 each and they were fine but nothing to write home about. I did like the ambiance and overall vibe and it was a cool spot in the hotel and might end up coming back
I have visited this location twice to give it a fair shot
I have visited this location twice to give it a fair shot before reviewing. The restaurant is downstairs from the Moxy hotel and is stunning - a spiral staircase brings you down where you see their dim lit bar area and hostess. Both times there was a bit of a wait (10-15 minutes) even though I had a reservation. Sushi and drinks were consistently fresh and delicious. The other dishes we tried were a bit of a let down. Uni pasta which the waiter said was one of the most popular dishes was so salty that we did not finish it. Edamame and cucumber salad was average. Short rib pasta was good not great. The crowd is on the younger side probably because of the area and Loosies (nightclub) is also located at this Moxy location. If you do dine here, I highly recommend enjoying a drink and live music at silver linings lounge afterwards (ask the hostess to walk you in).
I've been dying to try this place as I'm a big Tao fan.
Getting down the Bowery is a bit of a pain. I like the Moxy hotel where this is located. We went on a Sunday. The place has a really nice vibe and great decor. We had sushi for a starter. The sushi was good, very lite. I had a specialty cocktail which was nice. I had asked for another one before my dinner, it never came. Our dinner came, still no drink. We had the wagyu steak. Tasty but nothing to write home about. The waitress realized that I didn't have the drink I ordered and said it was coming. Well, my meal was done and we took catch a train and then my drink comes. It would have been nice if she took it off the bill, but I downed it and we have to run! Overall, it was okay, not sure I have to go back.
Dinner in NYC, New York
Came here Sunday night for dinner—restaurant is located downstairs of the Moxy hotel, very dim lit in here. The ambiance and decor is nice! Service was okay, our server took a while to greet us and didn’t come off that friendly. Food was okay. The Prawn and Asparagus Tempura was mediocre, also bland. The BBQ Freshwater Eel & Black Truffle Sushi Roll was delicious! The Wafu Carbonara was interesting with the poached egg, truffle and uni—would have preferred the sauce to be thicker than liquidy. For drinks, “The Classics Flights” of sake was a nice option to try different types of sake—poured in a shot glass with a decent portion of sake. The Nice Drip cocktail (vodka and cold brew) was alright—cocktails started off $21-$22 a drink.
Overrated
Overrated restaurant. Poor selection of sushi. Noodles were not nice. Staff too young and inexperienced. Wine glass was dirty.
