Phenomenal dinner! Price tag is high, but the very attentive service and courses are well worth it. Celebrated a birthday and retirement last night and every bite was very very good. The menu changes often but my favorite courses from last night (Late Summer September 2025) were the Caviar course (corn, bacon, geoduck) and the Black Cod course (celtuce, sake, california koshihikari). The only negative part of my dinner was how HOT it was where we sat. We sat at one of the tables closest to the open kitchen, and obviously being close to an open kitchen is always warmer... However, this was another level. I usually run cold and my partner runs hot, but even I was pretty uncomfortable throughout the meal and drank so much water to keep cool. Can't tell if this is a normal thing here but I have never been so hot at a fine dining restaurant before. Recommend asking to be seated furthest away from the open kitchen if you run hot and don't want to sweat through a 3 hour meal.

fine dining is such an experience!! yes your wallet will cry a lil but the vibes and service is so cool! the staff are very attentive, clean, and friendly. we were educated on cooking techniques and learn the history of how saison came to be + its mission. we added uni toast ($40) and wagyu supplements ($80) as well as the fish ($30) and had such a memorable time! the hors d'oeuvres were cute and tasted familiar. we also got our drinks on the house so that was so sweet of them! especially to personalize our date too :')

Our dinner at Saison was one of the best meals I've ever had. It was also THE most expensive meal I've ever had. The food and service were outstanding. It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary. But wow, expensive. I'd love to go back for the less involved bar menu one day soon.

Great service, added all supplements and traditional wine pairing; their reserved didnt give much of an appeal. The memorable; the Shrimp would of like it to be more crispy! So that the head can be truly enjoyed. The Bakchoy was a lit on the salty side that leaked through the Wagyu, which made it salty. It was an enjoyable dinner. Will come back next season. Thanks for having us. See you again!
Took me way too long to get back to this exceptional
Took me way too long to get back to this exceptional restaurant. Since I was here last they have had a change in chefs but the high quality experience remains the same. Lots of local ingredients fill the menu and the tea to start the first course and end the last course was a fabulous touch. The staff remain beyond compare, they are knowledgeable, friendly and take the time to answer and ask questions about the courses and wines/saki. They made my spouse and my birthday dinner beyond compare once more!

Staff are extremely organized and friendly. It got a little loud at times, but we could always have a conversation. Love watching the kitchen crew do their magic.

Overall one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Unique, flavorful dishes beautifully presented and served by attentive but not intrusive staff. Every detail of the food and service was thoughtfully crafted and well executed. I particularly loved that the experience was not pretentious but actually very cozy and intimate - from the wool blankets on chairs, to the warming teas and bone broths. I left full and happy and cared for. We did the abridged tasting menu + supplemental wagyu on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was ~80% full. Our favorite dishes were the prawns with chili oil (which is fermented for a year!), antelope, and wagyu (so tender). Some particularly surprising and creative elements were the chocolate croissant served with the antelope (great combination!) and buckwheat tea served with dessert (lovely way to end the meal). The staff also surprised us by making sure there was a good moment when we could go into the open kitchen and take a picture with the full staff - In the middle of service! That picture will be a lasting memory. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion!

Saison is elegant, the first few dishes were beautifully plated. I loved how they blended sea and land elements in a really creative way, with standout touches like the uni and wagyu that added depth and surprise. I did find the atmosphere a bit formal and reserved. It leaned more toward polished and exclusive than warm or friendly, which may be exactly what some diners are looking for. Personally, I would have appreciated a touch more warmth or approachability in the service to match the creativity on the plate. One small note: the presentation of the ice cream at the end didn't quite match the beauty of the earlier courses, it felt a little underwhelming visually compared to everything that came before it. Still, it's clear that Saison is doing something special and I'm very very lucky to have had the opportunity to dine here!

A wonderful experience. It is very expensive, but you know that before you get there. We had the abridged menu; couldnโt eat a 10 course meal and would not want to pay the much But the meal was fantastic and the friendliest, most helpful wait service. The wagyu was the best ever. And the desserts were extremely good and different. If you want an excellent, interesting meal and can afford it, go there.
Best part of my trip to San Fran
Fantastic, food was incredible, but what stood out was the service and friendliest staff. I dined solo sat at the bar, and the bartender was extremely welcoming and chatted to me throughout my meal and gave great recommendations for my stay in the city, despite having a busy job of making all the drinks for the restaurant. Cocktails here were also fantastic!

The Black Cod was perfectly cooked, with a tender, flaky texture and a subtle yet flavorful seasoning. The Grilled Duck Breast was equally impressive, juicy and rich with a perfectly crisp skin. The restaurant itself boasted a warm and inviting environment, making it a delightful place to enjoy a meal. The friendly staff were attentive and offered excellent food recommendations, enhancing the overall experience. With fair prices and high-quality dishes, this restaurant is a must-visit for food enthusiasts.

High quality food and service in a cozy spot that makes you forget the city. I went for their abridged tasting menu with an addition of their uni toast, and everything was impeccable. Everyone there was fun, friendly, and informative. Of course each dish was put together thoughtfully, but I really loved the addition of teas and beverages that came at points throughout the meal. Everything tasted fresh and you get such a lovely diversity of flavors and textures that progress throughout the meal without being overwhelming. These days I feel that many restaurants and tasting menus overdo it, but this is an example of doing just the right amount.

I came on short notice and I didn't realize it was such a fine dining restaurant I definitely was not dressed for nor had a reservation but they gave me a seat at the bar and were able to curate a last minute tasting menu just for me. I feel like a total ass tho cuz I can't do math and feel like I left a gross tip I would come back here again and again and next time leave way more im such a dunse I did t wanna pull my calculator out and look dumb now I just feel like a ass

I'm glad to see that women are treated equally in the workplace It's very thoughtful that the restaurant has prepared celebratory cards signed by the entire staff to mark the anniversary with advance reservations Whether it is dish innovation is tableware collocation, taste online, it is true that it is the old rice 3, although it has fallen out of the star for many years now, but it is still stable for 8 years. It's just the front door is a little broken and I thought the store was closed... Dishes are still salty, I don't know if my taste is really too light As always, caviar is free, wine is good, recommended!

Had a nice recent experience at Saison - beautiful restaurant, solid service team, a nice menu/meal. My menu was overall pretty good, but only 2-3 dishes really stood out as truly exceptional. love the open kitchen, I was seated nearby so had a great view of everything going on - it's run very well, super clean and quiet. Lots of good technique, highlighting very seasonal ingredients, nice textures and presentations throughout, just some of the dishes didn't feel very cohesive/finished (at least at the 2/3 star level). Favorite dishes - caviar, white asparagus and geoduck, the hokkaido uni toast, and the rabbit loan/leg with morel and bone sauce. Also enjoyed the sunchoke dessert and chanterelle stroopwafel.

Came here for a birthday dinner and I truly cannot express how much love I have for this restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing - it was a special collaboration dinner which was fun to watch with their open kitchen dining space. The small bites in the beginning (especially the play on the tea egg) were so good. Another favorite of course was the sea urchin (we've decided this will be my new love language). All the staff were also so attentive and sweet, and I loved the birthday cake they brought out at the end as well! Overall, could not say enough nice things about this place, and highly recommend!

We have been wanting to dine at Saison for many years and we were very excited to finally book a table. Meal started out nice. We were sat at an amazing table and were secluded in a corner, fantastic. Excellent view of the kitchen and was just a nice place to sit and enjoy the meal. Although no amuse bouche, instead, tea. Which was good, but it was basically honey tea and something I can find from almost any top quality tea company if I'm being honest. Oyster with green strawberry and celery was balanced in flavor but underwhelming and not memorable as a starter, especially with no amuse bouche/small bites. My wife doesn't eat oyster so an incomparable substitute of celery and two thin slices of green strawberry was served. For this caliber of restaurant I don't understand this substitute, as it's inadequate to say the least. Also I didn't understand the main course - while I had antelope, which was cooked nicely but had overly sweet components (huckleberry) - she was served, a carrot. Which actually the carrot was incredible and delectable, and while I realize the amount of work and time that went into that carrot, it was certainly a humble comparison and a fraction of the cost to antelope. Her dish also included harissa, which was used twice in two separate courses. This shouldn't happen at a restaurant of this caliber. As a private chef for 25 years for very high end clients and with a vast knowledge of all cuisines and food in general, I found the servers descriptions extremely lacking in content. I want to know what's in the dish. The details. What have the kitchen and chefs been spending hours and days preparing. This does a disservice to the intensely hard work done by the kitchen team. I understand over wording can be too much, but even when I asked questions they were short as if they didn't know. What was interesting was with the wine pairing, long descriptions were given and even stories and history of the wineries, and it dragged on and on considerably far too long. I wish that detail was given to the food! Service was robotic and not genuine or sincere, as if they were going through the motions. At this level I would expect more personality and humility. The biggest disappointment of the evening was when the crab course came out. First of three parts was a "salad" and mine was delicious and I enjoyed it. However, my wife had a very long human hair in her course. It was not hers as this hair was a different color and was also layered into the lettuce - when I tried to pull it out, it was entwined into the lettuce. I don't understand how this is possible with so many eyes composing this dish? They were not very apologetic about it at the time, perhaps in shock it happened as I know this doesn't happen, but it did. I did not take pictures of this course because we were simply in a state of shock. We kept looking at each other in awe of what to do and how to react. Completely caught us off guard. When received the bill they did comp us the uni toast, but this certainly left us disappointed and questioning everything. Memorable dishes: Geoduck and caviar - amazing Ocean trout - new & excellent dish Uni toast - should of ordered two Sunchoke dessert - outstanding For over $950, we had many amazing moments, some sub par ones, and even horrific (the hair) for this level of dining. It was nice to try and check off my list - I likely will not return.

The staff was incredibly attentive, kind and knowledgeable.I especially enjoyed the wine pairing with my food, the sommelier did a fantastic job and taught me some things about wine. The restaurant itself was beautiful and laid out well, the lighting and ambience was perfect and seating was incredibly comfortable. So much so that after a long day of walking I was trying not to fall asleep. Now to the food, there were some standout courses but overall it was just okay and I've had much better at the price point. The tea to start out was the best I've had in my life, the oyster course was phenomenal. Followed by the caviar and crab both of which missed the mark. The white asparagus with the caviar just had a weird consistency with not a great flavor combination. The trout, rabbit and antelope courses were also just fine, nothing really to write about. The Wagyu addon was possibly the best piece of steak i have had in my life. The desserts definitely missed the mark and the stroopwafel was way off. Overall it was a great experience and I enjoyed myself but it felt like the courses could have complemented each other more

They pulled a bait and switch pushed to bar seating yet didn't offer abridged menu. Overpriced for pulling a fast one despite specific stating we do not want the full menu in the bar seating. Don't be the schmuck taking bar seating but pay the full menu price. Second time this occurred - wont return ever again. Over $1k before drinks for menu. Beware they are shady. You will have a better experience at many other places in the city Quince, Californios, and others.

Brilliant and unique food. Non-pretentious and great soundtrack. Lighting is A1. And love the French styled kitchen. The service is very personal and friendly.

Great date night!
We went last night for the abbreviated menu and it was delightful. Perfect service that was both professional and playful. The smell alone is worth another star. The food was sublime and the wine pairings were different but matched beautifully. The chef came by and visited with us and he was lovely. Beautiful room and a gorgeous kitchen.

(Part 2 of 2) After the wagyu (which was 105 out of 100 by the way, rivaling how that same wagyu might have come out at a top notch restaurant in Tokyo), we were asked if we would like to tour the kitchen. We obliged - I suspected we were behind schedule because of that second uni serving, so the staff took the opportunity to transition us smoothly from our table to the bar - minimizing the awkwardness which I really appreciate. That was service done with grace. At the bar, we ended our meal with s'more on a little ember fire, chocolate cream with granola, and ice cream. Then there was good stroopwafel with hot tea. The s'more with something frozen inside and the ice cream were my favorite. We could have asked for more s'more but we were quite full by then and have used up our thick skin quota of the day (lol). The chocolate cream was as good as great chocolate should be but I am not a chocolate person so not much I could say. The biggest question I had (and still have now) is who brought us the uni? The person looked like Chef Lee himself and might I say, handsome (haha). Thank you, Chef! As we exited Saison and back to the SF stormy night, I started thinking about going back to Saison, one day.

The serving of caviar was great but then each dish afterwards went downhill. Was served a bunch of overly sugar diabetes desserts as courses Disappointing. Monumental anniversary celebration at this scammy restaurant.

What a splendid meal at Saison. An innovative and tasty set menu with many standout dishes and presentation - lobster tartare, uni, white truffle pasta, duck etc. I would probably skip the wagyu supplement next time since iโm not a fan of wagyu generally Service top notch and friendly as well The kitchen tour was a plus 9.5/10

From the first moment we went in, it felt like we were taken care of. We sat at the corner with a view of the entire kitchen. The food was paced to come out pretty soon after we finished each dish. With the wine pairing, I was absolutely stuffed by the end of the meal. Loved most of the food we tried and the wine pairing was excellent. They had fairly reasonable pours, I probably could split one in the future. caviar costal seaweeds - this dish comes with so much caviar and perfectly paired with champagne, definitely one of my favorites for the night. 5/5 spiny lobster & lamb broth of its shells - excellent option, really loved this dish as well. the broth was stellar. First time having lamb tartare. 5/5 black cod, pine mushroom, geoduck clam - also loved this. Paired well with the wine. 5/5 carrot harissa - carrot was too chewy for my liking brioche red miso butter - came as a side for the carrot, honestly liked this more. 3/5 sea urchin grilled sourdough - love uni, like that there was enough uni for the toast. 4/5 duck - heart & gizzard. duck sausage with nasturtium leaf Heart was the tastiest thing, duck was juicy. 4/5 wagyu - A5 supplement that was split. I liked it but it's not really done any differently than anywhere else. 4/5 s'mores - neat dish, definitely a huge novelty factor pine, chigory graham cracker. 5/5 lemon poppy seed cake - tasty treat for our anniversary stroopwafel - took this home as we were too full

This place gets all the accolades and it delivered for me.
My husband took me here for my birthday and boy did the staff at Saison make me feel special the whole time. Everyone said happy birthday to me, the hostess, the sommelier, every server. The place feels like a man cave meets a modern kitchen. Kind of masculine decor, but with pillows and fur on the banquets. The food was phenomenal. Every dish was so good. Standouts for me were the duck course, the uni toast, the raw fish course, and the wagyu. We did the wine pairing, but it might have been a little too much wine for me. And that's saying something. The wine list is like 300 pages and we got overwhelmed looking at it to choose a bottle. But I'm sure the sommelier would have made a recommendation. They even gave us a tour of the kitchen and let us take a picture with the chef and kitchen staff. It was a very memorable night, even with all that wine. Fancy, formal, but the staff wasn't pretentious. Very special experience.
Well Worth A Visit!
Didnโt know much about Saison other than itโs Michelin Star before entering the restaurant late last month. By the time I left Chef de Cuisine Richard Lee and his top-notch team of souls chefs, pastry chefs, sommelier and servers schooled me in the culinary art of fine dining al la San Francisco. A solo diner, I was seated with a view of the very active kitchen and it was a real treat to watch as my food was prepared. The food was fresh, creative and above all tasty. Favorites included the crab, sea urchin, melon with ginger, the duck and the berries. I guess the highest praise I can give the restaurant is that I will happily return during a future visit to SF. Excellent job Team Saison!

While restaurant Alinea has replied very quickly for my inquiry, this restaurant group havenโt responded forever. They just donโt know how to treat customers. Sucks, and thanks for helping not to spend my money and time for you.
Worthy of Pellegrino Top 50
If you are bored of the industrial standard food served in many of the Michelin 2 or 3 star restaurants in the world, you need to try Saison. A legitimate contender for the Pellegrino Top 50. I have been to Saison several times before the Pandemic. Our recent visit was the first one in 5 years, and it was a wonderful surprise. The new kitchen is experimenting with various aging techniques to achieve new twists on flavor and texture. The creations were often exciting and delicious. One memorable item was the aged carrot, which almost reminded me of the olives at Tickets in Barcelona. The food tended to be delicate and nuanced which challenges the diner to focus and analyze. Saison, being an older restaurant, was able to maintain a real wine list where many bottles have been properly aged and are beginning to enter their drinking window. (Fortunately, they did not auction off too many of their older wines during the Pandemic.) In contrast, we have been to several newer Michelin 2 or 3 star restaurants recently where almost all of the wine on their wine list should never be drunk in the next decade. At Saison, we were able to get a bottle of a 10 year old Premier Cru from Puligny Montrachet and an 18 year old Grand Cru from Cote de Beaune.

Contrary to some of the reviews I've read claiming that the courses were undifferentiated, I found that each dish held its own unique and distinct flavor profile. The courses played like different notes in the same song. The service was excellent, as expected. I look forward to dining here again sometime.

S.O. booked this spot as a surprise for valentine's day and boy was it a surprise. I've never had so many flavors in one bite at a time, and so beautifully plated. What a delight. Service was also fantastic. Seating here was intimate, although a bit uncomfortable to be honest haha. Still, worth the time and $. Highlights - 3 day roasted carrot: roasted over the hearth for 3 days, chewy and sweet - Sashimi yellowtail: they kindly cooked this for me since I can't eat raw fish, S.O. Loved it. The depth of the sauce made it to go with it was out of this world. The fish gelee was beautiful - Parker rolls: 65 year old starter was crazy! Miso butter was great, but the olive oil was on point - Scallop: large, meaty and perfectly cooked- Buckwheat tea: served at the end, roasted there and they give you some to take home. Super tasty/earthyOverall, enjoyed this meal a lot for our special occasion. Was definitely a huge treat to come here.

I've dined at every single Michelin rated restaurant in the Bay Area- saison is average in my opinion. Considering the price and ingredients used, I would say it's below average. One of us ordered the vegetarian tasting, which was the same price as the regular tasting. When uni is swapped for carrots I wouldn't expect them to be the same price but oh well..The atmosphere was amazing- I love the open kitchen concept and the wood element was warm and inviting.Food- presentation was 10/10, taste was 5/10- nothing was surprising or insanely creative, pretty meh considering the price.Service was just ok- our server doesn't seem super welcoming but it was decent and professional. No personal touch.

The interior design with the view of open kitchen is phenomenal. We have the 9 course meal with pairings wines and added Wagyu beef. The food is delicious but not that special. The service was great. Just one thing, though not as good as we expected. My friend was taking her time to finish Wagyu beef. The waiter took it away without asking us. It was an wonderful experience overall.

This place has been on my list forever and I finally got the chance when visiting SF for work. It started off with a tea that was very nice especially given the cold and rainy weather in SF. Next came the caviar, probably the course I looked forward to the most. It was presented really nicely and tasted even better. The next few seafood courses were really fresh as well and cooked very well. The bread was very soft and was definitely a lot! The uni toast was great, but the bread was a little soft. The bison was also so tender and flavorful and the bone broth was so clear and comforting. The desserts were a great way to top off the dinner, but I was definitely already really full. They send you off with a sealed envelope of the night's meal and some goodies. It was great to sit in front of the kitchen and watch the chefs. Overall, great experience, great service, and great food.

Have heard mixed reviews from many but finally encouraged to go by a fellow foodie who's been here twice. The experience was exquisite. So much attention to detail. Every dish was an explosion of flavor. The highlights were the uni, locally sourced caviar, the duck of course which was the main, and the apple dessert with ice cream knocked it out of the park. We didn't have a menu at the beginning, so everything dish was like a surprise. The dishes flowed together well. The service was top notch and the parting gift of chocolate and tea made it that much more special. The portions are small so if you have a small appetite you're set. Overall I'm glad I came. It was nice to sit near the kitchen and really hear, see and smell everything that's going on. It's almost like a tv show going on next to you while your dining. Def recommend sitting near the kitchen. It's def an experience!

Exciting place to try if you want a Michelin star dining experience. But this place falls a bit short in terms of the tasting menu and the price. The dishes that were presented lacked something special and some of them were a bit over seasoned. I truly appreciated the presentation and the service. But I can't say I immensely enjoyed the meal overall. Obviously you wouldn't go here for the quantity but still felt like there just weren't enough dishes being served to justify the price. I also have to say some of the sauces used in the dish were not as unique tasting and inventive.
Once in a lifetime, theatrical fine dining experience with an unforgettable bill!
I didn't know much about Saison before I dined there, just that it was one of the few 3 Michelin Star restaurants in SF and it had just been voted as number 37 in the world. This is the only completely open kitchen restaurant that I have been to and we were lucky enough to get a table right at the front of the action. Food is interesting and locally sourced dishes ranged from a 4/10 - 8/10 in my opinion. Everything is cooked on an open fire be it smoked, smouldered or BBQ'ed and you have to admire the owner for his unique brand and ingenuity. Unfortunately, some of the dishes were not as tasty as they were theatrical ( a bit like Fat Duck) but it was all an experience...... as was the bill, be warned, its not for the feint hearted!

* FamousStation67 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FamousStation67 for any questions Peter may have as FamousStation67 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FamousStation67 now uses their connections at Saison San Francisco to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FamousStation67 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
