11-item tasting plus a small alcoholic punch (I think).
Delicious and creative food! Really enjoyable environment and experience. I didn't feel bad, when all was done, with the cost of the meal.
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal.
Tasting menu was out of the world. Quite literally there was not a single course that was a let down. None were even just good. Everything was a perfect bite or two (or three or four). Wine pairing were excellent as well. All unusual but also well paired. Hard to pick a dish of the evening. The most eye opening was probably the lovage gelato. Truffle add-on was good if expensive but I think the dish would have been amazing any way. Quiet venue. Well paced service. It is nice that they stagger service so the whole dining room isn't on the same course. Nice cocktail to start out the evening as well.

This experience was recommended to my party through a friend as we were visiting, and I was really shocked to hear a rave review after coming here. I'm no stranger to tasting experiences, but the staff was not communicative or informative in terms of expectations of cost. As wonderful as they were in terms of explanations of the courses and enjoyable hosts for the evening, it would've been nice to know certain aspects of what is and isn't included in the cost of the ticket. As well, I found hair in my food during one of the main courses and no one really did anything about it when it was brought to their attention except take the hair away, as most courses are one to two bites and I noticed a bit too late. Finally, my party and I were all incredibly sick the next day in varying ways. Despite these experiences, the inside is gorgeous and the cocktails were great, not sure if you can just pop in for a drink given the nature of the seating. To sum it up, as far as $300 a head goes, there are far better culinary experiences that you can have at or below that budget.
Be the first to ReplyMost importantly the food here is top notch.
It is a bit expensive as I spent as much here as I have spent at 2-3 Michelin starred restaurants. The service was awesome and the staff are extremely kind and knowledgeable. You begin at the bar with a few starter courses and they also give you some time to go over the drink menu as they have a nice selection of premium spirits and great wine. We went with the wine pairing. The ambiance is nice and cozy here. The bar is small and the main dining area is fairly small too. It feels very home-like. My only complaints would be with the pricing and the amount you get. Some of the courses are extremely small and the wine pairing only really amounts to around 3 - 4 glasses. We did get the truffle additions and a couple of post meal drinks but for two people we spent over 700$. If money is of no concern then I say go for it.
Be the first to Reply100% fabulous.
Great service, Thoughtful presentation. Amazing pairings. All in a kind of a hipster setting, so definitely not a formal restaurant! Very, very well done!

The concept to begin at the bar was unique, but not necessarily effective. We didn't interact with one another while waiting for the entire group to arrive to begin the process. They held us waiting for later comers despite the reservations, reminiscent of a Teppanyaki service. The food was fabulous! Each course was exceptional and stood out alone often competing with its side. Each one could very well have been served alone. It would benefit from the absence of the bar experience and get the five stars it deserves.

Impeccable service combined with a truly unique experience made the delicious food and resourceful wine pairing a night to remember. thanks!

What an amazing experience from start to finish! This is one of the best foodie finds we've made in our travels. Great staff and service, they took the time to explain each course and the wine pairings. The food was exquisite and beautifully presented. The courses were paced nicely and portioned well. The dining room is small and quiet, which we appreciated, it was very intimate chef driven experience for these 2 foodies!
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant is lovely and the staff outstanding.
Our sommelier and servers were very exceptional and very knowledgeable. The wine and food pairing was extraordinary. The space is a resurected old house. I really loved it! Our 9+ course meal started at their beautiful bar where we were served exquisite starters and wines. This is a "special restaurant" where a full staff serves about 30 persons per night in two seatings. It is a dining experience where the menu is set and changes every few days. The dining room is set in low lighting but it is not dark; a real beneifit for fully experiencing delicious food, beautifully presented. Each food and wine course was fully described when placed on the table. This is not a meat and potatoes restaurant where you are in and out in a short time so don't expect that. This is a place to experience an unhurried unique food and wine event. Saint Germain is a rising star in New Orleans. Go now before you have to reserve a year advance. Bon Appetit!
Be the first to ReplyWe finally made it to SG last night.
It was not what I was expecting. Let's begin with the location. 2/5......It's on St. Claude right next o where Reds China was. That's about as close as you'll get because their signage is impossible to find. We had to call to figure out exactly where the location was. You enter the old home and receive the first few courses sitting at the bar. That is because there are only seats for 12 people in the entire place. Staff:3/5. The hostess was awesome. It was her first day on the job due to movie crew strikes. You The bartender was very nice and mixed a fine drink. Beyond that there really isn't much to brag about. Food: 2/5 The first course was a tiny portion of something I took a picture of. The second course was something tiny I took a picture of. It tasted like a NYC street falafel but they weren't trying to create that flavor. All three of us were disappointed in the food. If I want tapas for $135 I can find much better places with a courteous wait staff.
Be the first to ReplyGreat meals and good drinks.
We started our courses at the bar. We had an awesome bartender that share little tid-bits of their drink recipe. The wagu beef, and the soufflรฉ was really good. Recommend this place for some New Orleans French fusion.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent tasting menu, everything was amazing.
A very small venue where you start at the bar with small bites and end at the tables. Everything is pretty bite sized and explained. The menu changes monthly. Be sure to reserve and you pay the full amount including taxes and gratuity online. These weren't all the pictures as my phone died and they were kind enough to plug it in.
Be the first to ReplyExpected a much more high end presentation and plating.
Food choices not creative or flavorful enough to warrant excitement (parmesan broth, rice/onions, potato soup...???) . Expected a fine dining 11 course meal, not a 5 course bar food and 6 course meal.
Be the first to ReplyCame for a weekend dinner at the 8pm seating.
First three courses served at the bar, then we were moved to the dining room. Portions and pacing were good- took about 2 hours for the full meal. We liked the flavors in 9 of the 10 courses. We skipped the wine pairing and had cocktails instead which were delicious. They also have a mocktail on the drink menu

Priced out parentsMy wife and I, on special occasions and when we're able to get a sitter, love to sit at the bar at Saint Germain and enjoy delicious cocktails and tasty bites. Before tonight, we have always felt welcome there. This evening, while we were greeted warmly, we were promptly informed that without a reservation and purchase of a $200/person meal, we would not be allowed to stay. In a city where the annual medial income is $26,600, St Germain's new policies and practices exclude the vast majority of our neighbors. In addition to our own exclusion as longtime and loyal patrons, we are also concerned that the staff are experiencing loss of income and dwindling morale. Considering all that's being lost, what do the owners really stand to gain from this elitist approach. From formerly loyal customers, it strikes us as inhospitable and truly has no place in New Orleans.

Very good, was worried it wouldn't live up to the hype bc I've been somewhat disappointed with fine dining in Nola but it absolutely stood up. For me great value as well..

Uniquely intimate setting. We look forward to returning.

Very much recommend folks checking out this hidden gem, great small plate options and great craft cocktails
Be the first to ReplyI had a 9PM reservation and arrived 20 mins early.
Our table was ready, empty and set but management had us sit at the bar until exactly 9PM. There was no reason for this. The food was very mediocre. The ambiance left a lot to be desired. For the price charged, the food should have been much better. We were very disappointed! Worst meal we had in New Orleans.
