Ruth's Chris Steak House Tampa Reviews from The Last Year
Extremely poor service
We sat at the bar low tops and were completely ignored for 20 minutes. We asked to be seated with an assigned server and waited another 20 minutes. We finally took two seats at the bar. We had to beg for silverware, bread, and a set up. We were told that a concert was cancelled and they were “super busy.” My experiences at other locations have always been outstanding. The staff and management here need to be coached up or replaced.
Sadly very disappointed.....
Sooooo very disappointed in the steak quality. This is my 3rd visit to a ruth's Chris and it was the worst. Steaks were done perfectly but the quality of filet and rib eye was at best mediocre definitely not PRIME meat. $250 bill which is ok provided the food met expectations which it did not. However, our server Chris was over the top....in service..
3.6 out of 5 stars??! No chance LOL. Please try the Filet
3.6 out of 5 stars??! No chance LOL. Please try the Filet Mignon (medium), with Caesar salad, mashed potatoes, and sweet potato casserole and get back to me. I truly don't have the words at the moment because I believe this location is a 10/10. WAYYYY better than Berns in my personal opinion but I don't know maybe people have a different set of taste buds than me. I've been to each over 5 times and Ruth Chris blows other Steakhouses out of the water... Don't worry Ruth Chris's Tampa Bay, you'll always have a special place in my heart.
Our evening started off a bit rocky.
Despite having a 6 pm reservation, the restaurant was nearly empty, yet we still waited several minutes to be seated. However, things quickly turned around thanks to our server, Mario. Mario was the star of the show. Polite, charismatic, and with impeccable attention to detail, his service elevated our entire dining experience. We began with the goat cheese artichoke dip, which I highly recommend. It was decadent and delicious. For my main course, I ordered the filet and lobster tail, accompanied by a Caesar salad and garlic mashed potatoes. The Caesar salad was a standout--large, with fresh homemade dressing, grated Parmesan, and crispy croutons. The garlic mashed potatoes were good, though they could have used a bit more seasoning. My husband and I both agreed that we enjoyed the food and overall experience here more than at Bern's. Despite the initial hiccup,it was a delightful dining experience, largely thanks to Mario's excellent service.
Made reservations and happened to be celebrating my
Made reservations and happened to be celebrating my husbands birthday last minute. Service was what I'd expected from a 3.6 rating on yelp. Food was cooked as we had asked for. Only reason for no 5 stars was we were told we were getting a dessert complimentary for our celebration only to pay for it after a $550 bill
This was a special occasion for my son's birthday.
They had birthday confetti on the table when we were seated, nice touch. We had drinks at the bar before dinner. Pricey. Overall the food was well prepared but we did wait a very long time for salads to come out. Waiter said system went down ? Waiter also kind of abandoned us and my daughter waited a long time for her drink order at the table. Four people plus bar tab, $800 with tip. I don't think it was worth it.
Expensive for the experience.
Went there to celebrate my girlfriends and my birthdays! Our waiter said Happy Birthday to both of us and they put a couple of small plastic happy birthday decals on the table. That was it from them doing anything else, like offering a small piece of cake with a candle or something! Like singing happy birthday and maybe the manager coming over to say something to us. We have been to a couple restaurants in the area and all did something special without us asking. When I made the reservation I told the person that this was a special event, celebrating both birthdays, for the two of us. That didn’t seem to matter. For what this place charges for a meal you would think they could do something special for a very special time for us! We gave Ruth Chris Steak House a chance and we wont be back! The food and the service was a bit above average, but not worth the cost!
Don't understand why this location is low rated.
I've been here twice now and their service, along with the food is amazing. You have to try the lobster macaroni side dish. I also got the porterhouse steak for 2 (40 oz) Well marbled and juicy with a filet mignon side and Tbone side. Excellent! Will continue to come back, oh and I love the valet option. Oh and for those who complain about the price, dine in your price range
Have been going to this location since it opened, the last
Have been going to this location since it opened, the last couple of years we prefer to dine in the Lounge High Top seating primarily because they have a piano guy that starts around 4pm and plays delightful low key music. The food is consistent we love the spicy shrimp and osobucco ravioli as appetizers, Ruth Chris Salads are all fresh and tastey and our steak entrée were perfect Bone in NY Strip "Rare Plus" last night. However the Lounge Service for dinner once again was very disappointing, lack of attention, non engaging long wait for drink refills not typical of the high end steakhouses like Eddie V's Capital Grille, Flemings all with a stones throw of RC, they need to get the staff back on paying attention to the customers and now with Charlies Steakhouse building basically across the street and a new Flemings down the road RC is in for serious competition So no I dont plan on returning to RC for sometime
Jonathan was amazing!
We celebrated Mother’s Day and Jonathan gave us the best service! This is our families favorite restaurant but this time our experience was exceptional.

We spent a lot of money at this place for the worst meal I have had in a while. This place is expensive, I think the prices are higher than other steak houses in the area for the same type of entrees. The other restaurants are winning. The service was acceptable, but not great. The ambiance was just ok as well. They sat us in a room with one table being so loud I thought I was in a sports bar. I should have checked the reviews before I made reservations. I won't spend hard-earned money in this place again. So disappointing.
Food was very good.
Steak knives were literally "dull." Not a single person of color on the wait staff for Mother's Day. Wait staff themselves were fine. We literally got seated in the furthest corner of the restaurant. They have a disturbing light flash of some sort; wait staff said it was from cars passing by. They could use some more seating for those waiting. My third time going in 17 years and the place seems to look the same as it did in 2009. Probably won't return. There are other places for the price.
Sorry folks, The most generous I can be is a three.
We had an early Monday night dinner as we were joined by our daughter and Granddaughter. Arriving on time we had to wait outside for a bit as the valet was not in sight, but only a few minutes. We were seated immediately of course as only two or three tables were already seated. The table was in the isle, not ideal, but go with the flow. Our bus person arrived, arranging water, bread and small bread plates on our table. The bread being 4 small generic dinner rolls which delighted our Granddaughter. Julio, our server, arrived soon after, with menus and to take our beverage order. We looked over the menu at appetizers, and when Julio returned with our drinks we ordered a small seafoodtower as a shared starter. The seafood tower arrived in good time. It consisted of 4 large shrimp, 4 small half lobstertails perhaps 2 ounces each, some crab leg pieces (in the shell) and some small lump crab cups with perhaps an ounce or two of lump crab each. The seafood was all fresh, solidly packed onto crushed ice but had the feel of having been pre-prepped some time prior and then refrigerated. Certainly not a show stopper. Although we had been supplied some cracking tools, the only plates on the table were still the small bread plates we had from the begging of the meal, so we returned the shells to the "tower". This explained a bit of delay in service as Julio thought the tower was still full, but go with the flow... We shortly there after ordered some salads and dinner and some wine. My Granddaughter ordered grilled chicken. My Daughter and wife both order the bone in filet and I ordered the Cowboy ribeye. Our salads came out in good time, the girls all really enjoyed their Ceasars and I enjoyed the Wedge salad. Our main courses followed in good time. We had ordered three sides which Julio suggested were shareable, the sautéed mushrooms, creamed spinach and au gratin potatoes. I would suggest the mushrooms and spinach as shareable however I would consider the au gratins a single serving and a small one at that. Odd considering Ruth's Chris calls it a specialty. My Granddaughter loved her Grilled chicken, both my Daughter and wife loved the bone in filets. My cowboy ribeye (of course this is my issue for NOT saying something) was not a cowboy ribeye. It was no where near 26 ozs and the bone of this steak was in its completeness not 3 inches in total length. The whole bone. I thought perhaps Julio had misunderstood me, so I marked it down to miscommunication. Then the bill arrived, nope, billed for the cowboy. Now I know I should have said something at that time, however, my 8 year old Granddaughter who had behaved wonderfully before and during the meal was now completely ready to leave. So, some good, some not so good. I could have given them a chance to correct the bill but I won't be in a hurry to return. 3 stars.
My wife and I just came back from a hopefully nice birthday
My wife and I just came back from a hopefully nice birthday dinner for her. We started with drinks and wedge salads for appetizer. The wedge salads arrived with about a 1/3 lettuce wedge, 4 cherry tomatoes and blue cheese dressing. No bacon as shown on their website and which every wedge salad I have ever had includes. Very, average at best. My wife had the 16 oz ribeye which she said was fairly good but nothing special for $69. I had the Specialty Cut Bone-In NY Strip. The strip tasted good but it was very tough and nervy and about 1/3 was inedible. Again for Prime beef and $69, it was not very good. For a side we had the Au Gratin potatoes which was a small order barely enough for 2 people and we make frozen ones at home which are much better and plentiful. For dessert we had the Crème Brûlée and it was pretty good but nothing special. The service was very inattentive and he never filled our water glasses or asked if we wanted another drink. Very disappointing for such a renowned restaurant chain. For $210 plus tip, we certainly expected much better. We won't be back.

Never going back to Tampa Ruth Chris
Ordered the filet and porterhouse medium. Both over cooked. A very large party showed up and our table of four was neglected. Not worth the money

Even on a Wednesday night, this location was extremely crowded. The service was great, and for the most part the food did not disappoint. However, I do not recommend the lobster bisque. All who got this dish at my table agreed that it had an off aftertaste and nearly no lobster at all. Other than this, the steak, sides, and creme brûlée were delicious.
Enjoyed it so much my bday was a success my two beautiful daughters treated me
My daughters took me to this beautiful place the food was Devine the wine they had was great I don’t drink the piano guy was a delight the desert to die for this is great place to get great service and food delightful experience servers hostess cooks everyone everything was wonderful ps my beautiful grandson behaved lol definitely recommend to the whole family this is an enjoyable place
Used to love Ruth Chris.
Went to the Ruth Chris in Princeton, NJ during Covid. Great. Expensive but Great. Moved to florida and went to the WestShore Tampa RC and it was awful. Meat was tough . The quality
Great for the special occasions
We both ordered the sea bass. It was the most tender and flaky fish ever. The side dishes: the roasted Brussels Sprouts, and the crab cakes were delicious. The cocktails were good. The service was excellent. The only drawback was that you will spend some bucks here. We will come back for special occasions.
First time visitor to this restaurant chain.
We dined in the bar, but ordered from the dinner menu. Service was A+++. Give Demetri a raise and extra day off a week! He took excellent care of my party. Let's start at the end. The creme brûlée was some of the best I've ever had. The vanilla flavor, the texture, cooked to perfection. Simply delicious! I ordered the shrimp and steak prix fix. My well done steak was the juiciest well done steak I've ever had. Not dry. Tender as all get out. Flavorful. I paired my entree with sautéed spinach (a little too much butter for me and could have used more seasoning) and a ceasar salad (next time I'll get dressing on the side). The rest of my party had steak and lobster with mashed potatoes (creamy and buttery) and bread pudding. We arrived around 5pm on Thursday. The dinner crowd was rolling in. Noise level was a little loud. At some point a pianist started playing tunes which added to the noise level, but in a good way. I'd def return. No complaints from my party. Not one.

My boyfriend and I came here tonight for dinner and we had a lovely server names Siyana, she overcame any obstacles in our way of having a great night and made it amazing. Absolutely would recommend this sweet soul to anyone, it is obvious she takes pride in what she does and really does care about the guests experience when they step foot in this restaurant. Thank you Siyana for the amazing service tonight!
Went there for my birthday last night.
The food was very good. Steak, Lamb Chops, and cremini mushrooms were the highlights. Angel enhanced our experience with great service and personality. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed all of the food.
Happy hour value
We had chicken sandwiches during happy hour. Great value and delicious! The service was good and its a convenient location if you need to be by airport
Came here before the Bucs playoff game on Monday night.
Pretty busy. Servers were attentive and good. The food overall was great and quite delicious. We order the porterhouse with a side of Cesar salad and au gratin potatoes. Steak was perfect; bread was awesome; salad well done, au gratin potatoes however were undercooked and they did grab a replacement dish. Overall good experience!
I have gone to Ruth's Chris for over 18 years, and more
I have gone to Ruth's Chris for over 18 years, and more than 60 times easily. Even had dinner parties and company events. The service and quality of food was alway above the rest, the best. Then something tragic happened. They sold to Darden. What a disappointment. The service was like poor. We waited 20 minutes between appetizer and dinner. My martini had too much olive juice. The appetizer calamari was under cooked. The Dinner stated 4 shrimp with petite filet. Only got 3 and it was under cooked. The server came 3 times to the table and never came to say, sorry you dinner is running late. We will compliment you a desert. Nope nothing. He avoided us. The GM never came to the table until the very end and then wearing a mask. As he came by he said is everything good as he kept walking. I told him, actually no. He stopped came back and told him the food was undercooked. He said it was Mark's fault in the kitchen. Nothing like Mark the GM use to do. He would engage with us and even sit down and we would chat. Nope, this one was a run by hey. So Sad. Bill was $351. NEVER AGAIN. Ruth's Chris is forever a restaurant of our past. very sad.

We went during happy hour which is only at the bar and the high top tables. Our server, James, was very nice and attentive and checked on us regularly. I thought the food and drinks were great but giving it a four starts because two men came in and started playing loud videos on their phone and it took the manager 15ish minutes to talk to them.
Not acceptable for the cost, food or service.
Requested booth and they gave us the smallest one in the place. My husband couldn't move and he's normal size. Finally moved after requesting twice. Waiter so nervous, forgetful and acted like he was clueless or was fearful for his job. Kept apologizing for every move. Food was nothing special with tough filets and tasteless sides. I cocktail total for table, no desert. At over 250.00 for two people we will not go back.
Fabulous!!!
We went here for my daughters 12th birthday and our service/meal/ambiance was amazing we Especially loved the personal touch Diane our waitress gave us:) she made my daughter feel so special for her special day! We highly recommend!!!! *****
Go somewhere else trust me
First, I ordered a $30 9 Oz. Glass of wine that was corked. I asked for bread and never got it. My steak was not medium it was overcooked. The side creamed spinach was floating in milk? My wine took 20 minutes to receive and I already had my entree. The cheesecake was not cheesecake omg what the hell did I eat for $250!!! I've been to most exclusive restaurants in the world in Qatar, Tokyo, Anguilla, Croatia and I swear to God I left to have better wine and food at Oliver Garden next door that's how sad that was. Save your $ go to Eddie Vs or Flemings. What a joke.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
