Delightful olde worlde
Invited to dine here by a friend. It is olde worlde and delightfully warm and cosy. The service is pucka and posh and the menu full of classic English delights, dishes that other restaurants can’t be bothered to produce. The food was excellent, cam
A London Institution
This restaurant has been on our bucket list for ages. It’s the oldest in London and is pure magical. The building is absolutely amazing. The food is British Classic and all top quality. Loved it all, food, service all excellent. Worth a detour and

Brilliant Traditional British Food. Great Atmosphere
I went with a friend for a mid-week lunch in mid-November. I confess that this is one of my very favorite lunch venues in central London. As the oldest restaurant in London one can well believe that the ambience is tops. It is. The walls are pack

The service was excellent from the moment we walked through the door. The restaurant has a lovely, friendly atmosphere. I'd describe it as 'posh' but not remotely stuffy. The food was great, traditional British and not overpriced. Ther

Beautiful but refuse the cover bread !
I love Rules and never disappointed when I come. The good is delicious, proper English fare. Staff are attentive and a lovely ambience. They serve cover bread and butter before the meal but you really dont need it. In my opinion it fills you up an
Let down by an old friend
We have been going to Rules for 30 years for our annual Christmas get together, this time we were a bit early and went in November, normally the food is superb, sadly this time we found that standards have slipped. There were five of us dining, the s
Most disappointing experience in London
We wanted to go to a special restaurant for my birthday in London so, after doing some research, we chose Rules. It looked beautiful and it was. The atmosphere was wonderful and the hostess was very sweet. but that's where it ends. For the price
Wonderful
Absolutely love this restaurant. Really nice relaxed atmosphere in a stunning setting. Food and service were excellent. Cocktails were delicious as was the wine. Will definitely be coming back.
Tremendous!
Can''t add much more to the other reviews really; food fabulous, service good, surroundings amazing. Would thoroughly recommend!
Twice in Ten Days
For more than three decades I have made it a point to dine at Rules, a historic restaurant that provides a fine dining experience, whenever I am in London. Rules was founded in 1798 by Thomas Rule, and is described as London’s oldest restaurant.
Great customer service
I forgot my wallet at the pub. With no stress, Rules shipped it back to me to my overseas location. Major kudos to Rules for making this happen. Top class! Enjoyed our experience at the pub as well! :)
Save yourself - go somewhere else!
We visited as a party of four friends — and we won’t be coming back. When I booked, the restaurant asked if we were celebrating. I said we were, but this was completely ignored on the night. Don’t ask if you’re not going to act on it — it
Classic British cuisine in a gorgeous traditional setting
There is really no place like Rules- I was lucky enough to visit about a decade ago and am happy to report that, even 10 years later, it was just as excellent as I remembered. It's clear from the moment you walk in or check their website that
Perfect Dinner for Our Last Night in London
Atmosphere and service were top notch. Menu was full of unique and delicious offerings. Great choice for dinner whilst in London.
Excellent old style English cuisine restaurant!
A very beautiful restaurant in the old English style, with lots of celebrity photos and a magnificent interior. The English cuisine is excellent, and the service is just as top-notch as you'd expect from a restaurant like this! The manager even
Poor Service & Average Food
I've been enjoying Rules for many years and I'm therefore saddened to report that this once great institution has lost its way. Poor service, average food and a forgettable experience. There are better in London, won't be returning
Restaurant has gone dramatically downhill
Rules used to be the epitome of excellent service and food. Sadly it has gone downhill. Shepherded upstairs for a drink before dinner. Didn’t appear for 30mins, by which time the table was ready. The table for 3 we had was a table for 2 and almost
Disappointed
My second visit to Rules, there won't be a third! First time I thought the sides were mean in portion size. However it was our wedding day, & we wanted somewhere special. We waited a very long time between starters & mains, so long infa
Wonderful time
We had a wonderful time thanks to you. The food was absolutely delicious (CHICKEN, LEEK & MUSHROOM PIE, SLOW COOKED PORK CHEEKS, BRAISED SHOULDER OF LAMB). Thank you for your impeccable, discreet, and high-quality service. A special thanks to the
Fantastic….my favourite
I love Rules, yes, it’s a bit shabby, but it is modestly priced for its history and location. We have never had a bad meal here (multiple visits)…the service is always amazing and friendly. The steak and kidney pudding is to die for. The Grasshop
Lost its charm
I have always wanted to try Rules, have walked past it hundreds of times, but last night was the night. We arrived early and went for a drink in the bar upstairs, we ordered 3 cocktails one of which was the cardamon negroni. After confirming with the

Rules is our favorite restaurant in London! The food is delicious and the restaurant is beautiful. Thank you for always giving us the best experience.
Great experience from beginning to end
I can't fault anything here. The service is terrific, the decor is beautifully traditional. The ale is served in cold tankards--great touch. Just be aware that if you order its famous grouse that it may come with shotgun pellets on account of th

We had a brilliant lunch at Rules on Sunday. The service was perfect, not intrusive and not rushed. Gorgeous cocktails, delicious food and a really great atmosphere.

Night #1 of my 8 nights of my birthday celebration in London. What a way to kick off a vacation. This is one of the harder places to get a reservation at on the weekends. We dropped by at 5:30pm hoping to be able to eat early, but were told no becaus
Living off its reputation
It is hard to get a booking at Rules. We took that as a good sign as it seems so popular. Our experience, however, was just OK. We arrived a bit early and were seated upstairs in the bar area. The garden room at the back of the bar was lovely.
Over priced
Heard about this restaurant from a friend and was just around the corner from our hotel. Nice lush furnishings and obviously popular as very busy, our booking was 9.30 and still our table wasn’t ready on arrival. The starter potted shrimp was fan

Great food in a historic atmosphere!
What a historic restaurant. If you want a delicious English meal then this is the restaurant for you. Steeped in history - every wall has something of interest. Whenever we are in London, Rules is a must for one of dinners. The food is the best o
Traditional with minor infringement of Rules.
We arrived on a Friday, the character of the restaurant was what we expected from the oldest restaurant in London. Tradition with opulence. The service was excellent. A couple of minor infringements was putting crinkled crisps instead of mash potatoe
There's No School like the Old School
Absolutely fabulous. Loved every minute we were at your fine establishment. If we were being ultra-critical, we'd say the rump steak was not as tender as we'd expect, but it can be a bit of a lottery with steak. Will definitely be back.
Excellent!
The highlight of our visit to London! Staff is incredible, food did not disappoint! Cocktails were second to none. After dinner drinks upstairs topped off a wonderful night. Thank you D!!! Incredible mixologist, personality and historian re Rules!
Drinks only, but still the best place in London.
Another visit to Rules, my favourite restaurant- but drinks only this time, post a theatre show. The Winter Gardens bar above the restaurant is an oasis of tranquility. Welcomed back by staff like an old missed friend - and then my friend and I were
Good service but tables could be better organised
Have visited Rules before and always enjoy the restaurant. Didn’t appreciate being sat in a busy area and then was subsequently asked by the waiting staff to move myself under my table more (I am tall), a few times. Another guest sitting across the
A massive deterioration for this once iconic restaurant.
I’ve been a customer of this establishment for over thirty years but I have now visited for the final time. The food quality has been declining for a while but our last visit was the final straw. Food quality was poor but wait staff were unable (mo

There are a lot of RULES at RULES! If you'd like to pay a lot and be treated poorly then this is your place. Not worth the money or time when there are so many BETTER options.
Didn’t live up to expectations!
Having been to Rules many years ago we decided to visit again with family. How disappointed we were. We anticipated that the rib of beef at £215 for four would be something special. Not so!! It came on a small bed of cabbage and water cress.
Awesome and amazing
The tour was great and interesting because I have experienced new many things that I didn't know about before. The food's are well prepared and they are tasty. The accommodation is great and well clean and the place is quite

On arrival on14th August - a baking hot day - we were advised that the air conditioning had broken down. So it was unbearably hot in the restaurant. The main course was delivered immediately after the starter, without a small pause even. The cauliflo

For my partner's birthday, we went to Rules, the oldest restaurant in London. We ordered the roast beef for two, and it was cooked perfectly. It came with two Yorkshire puddings, homemade horseradish, and mashed potatoes. It was not a cheap me
Absolute disgusting restaurant with even worse ownership.
Prior to leaving for London I had booked a reservation at Rules London. The day before we weee supposed to have dinner there a local told me that they ate there and a rat ran over their foot while they were eating. I immediately called to cancel my r
Great service, great food, great ambience.
There wasn't anything that wasn't perfect. The inside had great charm that was built over a long, long time. There was a lovely bar upstairs that seemed like it was a secret, but was fantastic.
This was such a wonderful experience for me.
I love old restaurants; I have a blog at home where I review them, but in LA we consider 40 years old! So I've long dreamed of eating at Rules. I don't come to London often, so I've longed for a long long time. It was everything I cou

AT benachrichtigt dann erfahrene Nutzer, die helfen könnten.
Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitung
