Better cut all prices in half
At half the price of both food and wine, we would have enjoyed the experience and rated it as “good”. Instead, we’re disappointed and feel ripped off, despite the nice ambiance, the amuses-bouche on the house and the attentive, fairly trained staff. The quality of the food is good, but nothing to be overly excited about. A “catch of the day” is supposed to be what it’s called: fresh from the sea. The amberjack was certainly not that. Antipasti went down as uninspired, desserts were good. 5 x markup for a decent ‘21 Grüner Veltliner is pushing it; still at E 130 a bottle it was amongst the cheapest in the extensive wine list. Overall this feels like a money machine and not the gastronomic heaven as it is promoted. That’s too bad, as Portofino could use one.
Simply superb
We had such a spectacular dinner on the terrace at this restaurant that I felt compelled to write a review. Our very beautiful meal was faultless. The service was superb- understated but attentive. The staff knew the menu perfectly. They are young, but highly polished. The location is extremely special. Tables have a spectacular view of the super yacht berths, and then on to the town of Portofino and up to Castello Brown. We all gasped when we arrived. The food was all faultless- the Capon Magra, Tuna Ragout and Tiramisu were standouts. A number of recent reviews have commented on price. I wonder if these are people who have watched Stanley Tucci’s tv series and not realised how exceptionally elegant this restaurant is. We found the pricing similar to restaurants of this calibre and location in Italy. The menu was between 45 and 70 euro a dish for appetiser, main and secondi. It was similar to restaurants like Il Riccio Capri, and the Gritti Terrace in Venice- but with far more personalised and polished service, and Cracco feels less like a tourist trap and more like a truly elegant fine dining restaurant. I would agree with reviews that comment on the wine list being expensive, though the wine service from the sommelier was perfect. Whites begin at around 100 euro, and reds 145. The cheaper wines are- themselves- even very good. Cocktails are 28 euro, champagne cocktails are 45- this is the same price as most cafes in Portofino’s very expensive harbour. An exceptional meal on the terrace at this restaurant would be between 150 (without wine) and 200-250 euro a head (with wine)- very similar to other restaurants of this calibre in Italy.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
