Rich Table San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
Beautiful, delicious food.
I wander across Rich Table while visiting the city so I had no expectations outside of how good it smelled as I walked by.
Very nice to custumers and when they did get out the food
Very nice to custumers and when they did get out the food they brought ought very tasty treats aswell.
For a reputable spot that has a unique menu.
..and clearly a vibrant scene...I was surprised by how much this restaurant fell short of expectations. To start: The prix fixe is $110 per person. The waitress told us that it would come with 5 courses...which was true...and that it would be specially catered items from the chef. She refused to tell us the contents of the prix fixe menu. This characterization was a scam...because everything from the prix fixe was literally on the a la carte menu. And moreover, ordering a la carte directly from the menu would have been less than half the price of the prix fixe. There is legitimately no logical reason to order the prix fixe menu. Many of the food portions that came through were actually quite tasty. We liked the cauliflower, the pasta, and some of the appetizers. It was well presented, but we'd be lying if we said the portions were even medium-sized. One other oddity: Even for the prix fixe, the waitress gave us different within our group of 4 (some were vegetarian; some weren't). Even the non-vegetarian people in the party were given vegetarian entrees. When we told her about this, she said that it was intentional and that we are meant to share the dishes. What?! I've never heard of a prix fixe that is supposed to be shared tapas style, and this "rule" was never disclosed to us from the beginning. This is another reason that we viewed the restaurant is alarmingly dishonest in its presentation.

Fantastic service -- every person, especially our waitress, was so kind. Unique cocktails that are not too sweet. Spicy, unique flavors in all the food, combining many different cuisines. Three courses and two drinks each for just $110pp. Went here for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend and LOVED it. My favorite dishes were the porcini dumplings and the deconstructed dumpling pasta, yum. I also recommend the mint dessert (always on the menu, even when it isn't).

Had a great experience here last night! The food was amazing and very high quality, and the service was top notch. The waitstaff truly went out of their way to answer any questions and make sure it was a great experience. The dishes were unique and beautifully presented as well. The white asparagus blew my mind. Would definitely come back here again!
I think this place is slightly overrated.
The food was pretty good, but it was very crowded. The service was top tier though - we volunteered to give up our table for an elderly couple and they gave us some free appetizers. I'd probably go back, but I don't think I would suggest it if that makes sense
Friendly service, delicious food, and great location to
Friendly service, delicious food, and great location to grab dinner before a show. I treated my family to a birthday dinner here before an orchestra performance. Rich Table has some of the best food in the area if you want to have a more luxurious dinner before catching a show. The location is amazing in terms of being able to get to the theaters and venues around the area. We did the Chef Picks where they choose the items you get to try out, plus we added the caviar supplement. For 3 people doing the Chefs Pick and sharing family-style, we got to try out most of the menu. Food that was memorable: + Porcini Donuts. Love these and honestly I'd come here for just their bites menu if I didn't have a reservation. Love the raclette sauce that you dip this in too. They sell the porcini powder at their other restaurant just a few blocks away, RT Rotisserie. + Uni Cacio e Pepe. Favorite savory main to order! I've had seafood pasta in many different forms and this is probably my favorite. The handmade pasta is soft and chewy, with enough bite to stand up to the creamy rich uni. + Desserts were amazing. All 3 we got for Chefs Pick were not to sweet and paired well with their coffee. I loved the super rich, creamy chocolate dessert and the final bites of a white-chocolate covered dalgona-like kit kat. Sadly, I don't remember the name of the desserts but I still think about them. So so good. - Fried rice. Chewy rice that's fried to a crispy perfection. Includes a savory sweet Wycen chinese style sausage. Candidly, this dish was a little on the salty side for me and I had to take breaks eating it to sip water. If you've never had Chinese style sausage, this is a great introduction to the flavor. Personally, I would skip this next time. - I would also personally skip the caviar supplement next time. It's certainly delicious, but I've found that other restaurants give you more caviar for $24. - Vegetarian-wise, this place doesn't give you as much value for what you're spending on Chefs Pick in my opinion. For example, doing the Chefs Pick, I got 2 big fat beef wontons with chili crunch oil. The vegetarian version of this for my family member was a couple artful slices of pear with chili crunch oil for the Chefs Pick. Would recommend that vegetarians purchase a la carte or head over to Rich Table's other spot, RT Rotisserie, to grab their super yummy broccoli wrap. Lots of great pescatarian options though. The restaurant is on the smaller end, pretty cozy. I had to squeeze past the occupied neighboring table to get into my bench seat. However, just some temporary awkwardness before good food!
The food is magnificent, and the service is a match.
The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and attentive
Went last night and had another home run dinner.
Everything we had was sooooo good. Porcini donuts as always, Dungeness crab curry salad which was to die for (last night on the menu) ,burrata with spicy honey yum, sea urchin pasta as always and a hand pulled dumpling duck pasta which blew our minds. Ordered their shaved ice dessert as always and great way to end the meal. Marissa at the bar was lovely as usual! Left super happy with the menu we got to try this evening!

I visited Rich Table for a birthday dinner, and we had a party of 5. Our reservation was pretty late, but that means we got a large private booth near the back of the restaurant. Great ambiance and not super crowded at all. For food, we were debating between going for the prix fixe option vs. just ordering a bunch of a la carte items to share. If you're in a mid to larger group I'd probably recommend just ordering a la carte--I was glad I got to try a lot of different things on the menu. We ordered a LOT of food, so some standouts to me: - dried porcini donuts: These were so good and (I heard) a Rich Table classic! Not too rich, very light, but still really flavorful. - smoked fish whip cannoli with sweet persimmon sauce: If you like strong smoked salmon flavors, you'll like this. Probably my favorite appetizer - plancha fried rice w/ lap cheong and sprouted broccoli - tonnarelli sea urchin 'cacio e pepe': Also a Rich Table classic. Maybe a little lighter on the uni flavor than I was expecting but I wasn't mad at it. Probably good for people who don't normally like the richness of uni. Really enjoyed my time here and would come again!
great chef's choice experience.
came as a table of 3 and we each got different dishes to try and pass around. definitely really liked the appetizer plate with tin fish, crème fraiche, fried dough and more. the aged beef dumpling in chili sauce, Thai Dungeness crab, steak, and panna cotta were also really good. i just wished dishes were a bit bigger to share.
Must try restaurant in San Francisco
As I was researching restaurants to visit while in San Francisco Rich Table kept popping up on different lists, food blogs, and articles, one even naming it one of the best restaurants in the city. So I knew I had to try this place. I had a reservation for 10PM but I got a text a hour before saying I could arrive early if I wanted. When I arrived I was warmly greeted and seated immediately at my spot at the bar by someone who I later learned was the GM/Partner Jonny Gilbert. The bar seat I had turned out to be perfect for me as I had a good view of the kitchen and expo station as well as being able to look out the windows and see some of the things that occur at night on the streets of SF. The bartender and every employee that I came in contact with were very knowledgeable and tuned in to good customer service. I opted for the Chef Picks service so I could try a few different items including the caviar supplement and it turned out to be a great choice. I have to say I loved everything, there might have been 1 or 2 things that didn't leave me wowed or blew my socks off. I can't remember the name of everything that I ate but here are some of the highlights: Dried Porcini Doughnuts w/ Raclette 5/5 & Sardine Chip w/ Horseradish Crème Fraîche 5/5 2 things Rich Table is know for and they definitely lived up to the hype. Did not disappoint. Everything that you heard about it and more! Oyster w/ Aji Amarillo & Gooseberry Mignonette 5/5 I don't know how I'll go back to eating oysters without this. Dungeness Crab, Pomelo, Crab Curry, Spaghetti Squash, Trout Crumble 5/5 but I would rate it higher if I could. Probably the best thing I ate at Rich Table. The presentation is perfect but all those tastes and textures really come together in a way I could never had imagined. Tonnarelli, Sea Urchin, "Cacio e Pepe," Idiazabal 4.5/5 Perfect al dente and creaminess. Yes Italians say don't eat cheese w/ seafood, but this is California dining. 21 Day Dry Aged Ribeye, "A199" Steak Sauce, Twice Baked Potato 5/5 I love steak and if I'm at a steakhouse I order it medium rare, which is a warm RED center and that is exactly how this steak came out of the kitchen. I'm not a steak sauce fan but the "A199" sauce is homemade and I really enjoyed it. Also nowadays I very rarely see twice baked potatoes on a menu but this was good. Then came dessert. I was celebrating my birthday so I was given a Mint Chocolate Sable with Mint Chocolate Cream and Ice Cream. 4.5/5 That was perfect and I would think it couldn't get any better but then I was given an Orange Granita as the end of the Chef Picks and it was amazing. 5/5 I love chocolate and all things chocolate but this was even better than I could have ever expected. I mean the shaved ice with the orange segments and the vanilla ice cream (gelato?). I guess it brings back nostalgia for the creamsicles I used to have as a kid but so much better. Overall a great experience with all of the exceptional food and enhanced by the employees and their friendliness and service along with meeting one of the Chef/Owners Evan Rich and conversing with him and Mr Gilbert about the industry.
Fantastic culinary experience
We went to Rich Table because of a recommendation of our B&B in San Francisco and what can I say? It was one of the most unique dining experience we’ve ever had. First of all, the whole staff was extraordinarily welcoming and nice. We shared a couple dishes together which were all special. My personal favorites were the doughnuts with a creamy, rich sauce: They were very fluffy and incredibly delicious. Also the sweet potato dumplings with kale and miso were superb. For the dessert we tried the chocolate cake with peppermint crumble and the shaved ice. Throughout the dinner we were surprised by all the different flavors and textures of the food - a very rich and special experience. We can only recommend this place and will definitely come again.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
