For a gourmet break in Stavanger
The menu is imposed and consists of 6 dishes (5 in fact, the first being bread, otherwise excellent): 1 starter, 2 main courses (fish + meat) and 2 desserts and changes according to the seasons. The starter (which was celery based) and the 2 dishes were really excellent with real research into flavors and delicious sauces. We were a little less convinced by the desserts which were good but with less sophisticated tastes. Overall, a really very pleasant restaurant for anyone passing through Stavanger! Prior reservation required.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing meal, amazing people, amazing restaurant
Everything about this place screams authentic, and excellent. Less than 40 seats in the restaurant, and it’s a pre-established menu, with the ability to add a wine flight to the meal. Open kitchen design, small staff of about six people, and they appear to do two seatings. We were scheduled for 9 o’clock, but we kept in touch with them via text, and a table opened up for 8:15 PM, so we were able to get in earlier. We met the owner of the restaurant and the restaurant manager, as they were in integral part of delivering, the meal, explaining the dishes and the wines, and answering any and all questions. Extremely good food, with interesting applications of cooking techniques. We don’t like what we refer to as “phoofey” (a very technical name 😆) food. Many times restaurants, trying to be new and innovative, go over the edge with nonsense gold type of meals that have some kind of foam/froth/chilled aspect to them this restaurant is not that. The food was exceptional, and the peering of the wine was done, amazingly well. The entire night was so enjoyable and we are so glad that we got the opportunity to eat at this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Nordic Food!
A very intimate venue, and food was simply incredible! Starting with the fantastic homemade bread, then onto an amazing set of Scandinavian courses (which included some delicious fish dishes) and finally the dessert which was very nice too. I’d have liked to have seen some more alternatives for non-alcohol drinkers but the lemonade was very tasty! 😋
Be the first to ReplyRelaxed atmosphere, good food and friendly service.
Deliciously surprising combinations. They also have a non-alcoholic drink package that goes perfectly with the food. Nice to see how neatly people work in the kitchen. Price-quality ratio is good.
Be the first to ReplyOne of Norway's very best restaurants
Fantastic food with many exciting flavors from Czech guest chef. The wine menu was also from the Czech Republic and mainly consisted of natural wines that went perfectly with the food. Someone in the party took the non-alcoholic drink menu and also gave it top score. Pleasant premises and very pleasant service as well as perfect food and drink made this an unforgettable evening, right at the top of our many culinary experiences. The only "negative" is that restaurant SOL is almost 500 km from home. Despite this; we will be back, and consequently recommend this restaurant very strongly.

This was a nice experience. Lots of good food, fresh food flavors. Came out good and full. Large selection of wines. Good service. Here I will go again.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect.
Nice atmosphere, discreet and pleasant service. VERY good food. Harmonized flavours, paired with good, exciting wine choices. The price level is favorable NOK 765 for 6 dishes in this class is very good. Michelin next?
Be the first to ReplyTasty, creative and lovely menu in pleasant surroundings. We will come again!
Two friends at a Christmas party, first time at Søl's. We had a wonderful experience; food, drink and hospitality - absolutely fine!
Be the first to ReplyGood but a bit too simple
A bit too simple and not enough new exciting flavours. Sourdough bread and sourdough butter were inner tiers. Also the starter with cauliflower as the main ingredient was very good. The rest was average.
Be the first to ReplyGood flavors at a good price
Good flavors at a good price on a five-course menu. Self-composed juice menu, a little too much thyme flavor in one juice, but what you think about it is up to the individual. Pleasant premises with pleasant waiters.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect every time
We like to end up here when we go out for dinner with friends. That means we have been here several times. The reason we come back is that the food is always good and local, nice premises with a good atmosphere. Always good service. In short, we are always satisfied and very satisfied with the overall experience. My friends could think of a wine other than natural wine. This means that we have often dropped the wine package and chosen wine from the menu instead. It still does not spoil the overall experience. We will definitely return several times.
Be the first to ReplyStylish delicious Michelin experience in the middle of town
We were not looking for a Michelin restaurant. We were offered a delicious menu by a very friendly staff. The interior was sober but stylish with an open view to the kitchen. There were not many tables but the ambient was calm and relaxed.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and friendly staff
Great menu, well balanced and a large variety of flavours. The fixed menu is really good, especially the mian dish (cod) and the tartar.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Restaurant in Stavanger
We have eaten in many great restaurants in different parts of the world and this was one of our top 5 experiences. Staff were knowledable but relaxed, wines were interesting and different and food had some new twists but it all worked perfectly.
Be the first to ReplyFine dining in casual Scandi setting
There is only one 6 course tasting menu, one of which is really delicious warm sourdough bread. I would recommend you keep some back to accompany the other courses. Every course was delicious and presented beautifully. We particularly enjoyed the monkfish course and rhubarb dessert. The wine pairing was also excellent. The service was slick, friendly and professional, with all staff speaking excellent English and explaining about every course to us. Although not cheap we thought it represented excellent value by Norwegian standards.
Be the first to ReplyNot to be missed
I was a bit wary of this restaurant as at lunch, there is only one course so no choice at all. I shouldn’t have been. We had cod with a seafood broth and some celeriac. It was outstanding. We both agreed none of the nicest meals we’d had in ages. Also the bread with the butter from Roros. Could have merrily just eaten that for my lunch. We weren’t able to get a reservation for dinner but if I ever came back to Stavanger, I would definitely try. Not to be missed
Be the first to ReplyBest food I ever had
One of the best food experience for me . Chicken dish was out of this world . Kudos to the chef and staff . Very friendly people .
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food
Great food, very tasteful menu which was on the spot slightly adapted for me due to a specific allergy. We (2 adults and 1 12 year old child) very much enjoyed the food and the presentation by the staff. Make sure you have a reservation!
