This was an unforgettable dining experience to be sure and
This was an unforgettable dining experience to be sure and completely worth the splurge to not only get to experience 2-star Michelin food but also that level of service. The restaurant has romantic low lighting with generous spacing between tables for intimate conversation. The simplistic art and wall designs had an elegant upscale contemporary feel. My friend and I ditched our husbands for the night to treat ourselves to this luxurious experience. The kitchen had no issue substituting ingredients for my gluten allergy and made it absolutely zero effort on my part. I had alerted them when making the reservation, and in every course that came out, they addressed the safety in regards to my allergy. The food was superb. Artfully plated and presented and intricate in every detail. The 8 course tasting menu had many bonus courses as is customary with many prix fixe menus. Portion sizes were perfect, and there were so many of them we actually had to box up dessert we were so full. My favorite course was the venison, which was executed perfectly. Upon equal par to the gastronomic experience was the service. My friend and I have never felt so well attended to in our lives. You stand to go to the restroom, and someone is at your side to guide you. Need to take off your cardigan? Someone has magically appeared behind you to assist. I never had to touch my napkin..it was placed and replaced (if I got up) in my lap like some form of sorcery. The gentlemen serving us were beyond polite, professional, and masterful at their craft. If I find myself in Dublin in the future, I have no doubt that returning will be at the top of my priority list.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best dining and food experiences ever.
We have been to some great places during our travels but this night was almost perfect. Seriously!!! Maybe the wonderful company of great friends made it over the top but the food and service was also truly amazing. They really know what they are doing for food, experiences, and service! No wonder they have existed for over 40 years. We enjoyed some cocktails then a tasting menu with a matching wine tasting. We ended the night on a fabulous patio with more wine. We had the food tasting along with wine paring and we all were full but didn't want the night to end. I'm still thinking thinking about the food..,I will be back soon.
Be the first to ReplyThis is no doubt the best restaurant in Dublin.
Located right next to Merrion hotel and Michelin two star rating. I had scallops for appetizers and blue lobster as a main. One of the best lobster dish I ever had. Not too chewy and perfectly seasoned. Sauce was not overwhelming and complemented lobster. My BF had veal dish he loved. He had chocolate tart and he almost leaked the plate at the end. My orange soufflé was reflecting and airy. Patric himself made a round and greeted all the guest was very nice gesture. Highly recommend for special night.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome food, average-poor service.
We were forgotten about multiple times and watched as other tables got faster more attentive service. We probably could have gotten up and left without paying and they wouldn't even have noticed, to be honest.
Be the first to Replyawesome service and spacetwo stars off because the food
awesome service and spacetwo stars off because the food (appetizer and main dish) was a bit underwhelming, especially for the price. risotto with truffles had zero truffle taste.pastry chef should get a shout out for souffle.for two michelin star, expected much more innovative dishes.

My husband and I came here a few months ago while we were in Dublin for the weekend. We came for lunch and had an amazing experience and thought the value for the amount of food was very good. The restaurant is beautiful, with high ceilings and an open air feeling. The service was also impeccable and the presentation of the food was great - see pics posted. Make sure to come a little early to walk around the hotel, which is lovely.

Ignoring other reviews, at the time of dining (2019) PG is the only 2 star in all of Dublin, and it stands out in terms of fine dining. The service was that of a 3 star, the staff extremely attentive and caring. I had just finished having a long day - left exhausted, so their attention to my needs was comforting and made me feel welcome amongst their clientele. Many of the diners were dressed very well and very proper, so for a young person wearing a simple outfit to still be treated with respect and attention places this venue very highly on my list. The entire chefs tasting menu was stellar in many ways. Their plates used were all very simple, but the plating of the actual food was gorgeous and picture perfect. Simple things like a bread on a sauce looked like a magazine cover, while protein dishes like the crab wrapped in vegetable had style and elegance. Their green bean and truffle was so gorgeous, incredibly seasoned with a delightful crisp and all the right textures. Other dishes like the pasta covered in black truffle looked unique and earthy, juxtaposed atop the white plate. The primary protein dish looked playful and tasty, many colors on the plate and the meat had a little ravioli "hat". Besides all the dishes being a great mix of being fresh, savory, buttery - there was multiple taste buds being exposed with the sauces and creams. Also, one of the best chocolate deserts I've ever had - while the gold isn't my style, still looked gorgeous and will please many. Everything PG did was done with excellence and class, being one of the best restaurants I've visited EMEA. Very highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyMy first 2 Michelin star experience and I am not sure what
My first 2 Michelin star experience and I am not sure what elevated here compared to the three 1 star restaurants I have eaten at.The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. The dining room is stunning. The wine pairing with 4 course was 90eiro pp.The food was as you would expect but my Souffle was very eggy and not for me.The wine pairing were well thought out and the sommelier was super friendly and knowledgeable.600e for 2 people with wine. Hefty price tag indeed just not quite the 5 stars I expected
Be the first to ReplyHaving dinner at Patrick Guilbaud, Ireland's only 2
Having dinner at Patrick Guilbaud, Ireland's only 2 Michelin star restaurant was a perfect night of delicious, beautiful, perfectly cooked and presented food. A modernly elegant and sophisticated ambiance that remains relaxed and fun at the same time. A beautiful space wrapped in the glow of the pink gold ceiling which flatters everyone frames crisp, efficient service from a warm and personable staff made us feel welcome and pampered from the initial greeting and offer of an aperitif to the closing presentation of hand made chocolate truffles nestled in a bed of chocolate and cocoa nibs. We both had the 4-course dinner (appetizer, fish, meat & dessert) and every dish was simply perfection in taste and visual appeal. Sprinkled throughout the four courses were perfect breads (the mini baguettes, amazing), savory and sweet bites, palate cleansers and a sommelier who paired perfect wines for our dishes. It is easy to understand why Michelin gave Patrick Guilbaud 2 Stars and if you like formal dining, this is as good as it gets and definitely should be on your list of fine restaurants to experience and enjoy. Incroyable.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a dinner with a bunch of friends in this restaurant
We had a dinner with a bunch of friends in this restaurant on March 29 and the whole table ordered tasting menu where there were 8 small dishes served of chef's creation to our surprise. Exceptional service and several dishes were exceptionally good. And, therefore two stars. There were, however, a few disappointments. Number one - raw oysters. I am not sure I can qualify raw oysters as chefs creation or a surprise. Number two, way too much bread throughout the dinner. Bread was exceptionally good - but waiters kept bringing and bringing it as if they did not want us to eat after dish number 4. And after dish number 5, everyone was full up to their necks. Number three, cheese. When dish number 6 was rolled out to us on a wagon with just cheese on it I was deeply disappointed. The waiter excellently presented each cheese with deep knowledge of where the cheese is from . However, it was just cheese - nicely cut and put on a plate! I can hardly call it Chefs creation.A disappointment number four was lamb cooked to perfection on a precision cooker. They called it something fancy like "souse vide". But, behind a fancy name it was lamb simply cooked on a simple precision cooker which makes it very easy for anyone- even me - to cook lamb to perfection in any kitchen. "Souse vide" ! Good but disappointing dish. Two stars, therefore. Sorry. It seems like 8 creations was too much of a stretch.
Be the first to ReplyElegant room, GREAT staff, fabulous wines and very well
Elegant room, GREAT staff, fabulous wines and very well finished plates.Started with the Deutz blanc de blanc. Absolutely killer. Order in the bar area while drinking the champagne. Staff was brilliant. Had a mousse of salmon, pheasant and partridge pie and The large plates were the seabass with fennel and truffle and the slow cooked lamb loin and neck. I found the lamb interesting, but dull, and the seabass more interesting. Both were under seasoned to me, but clearly what was intended. Three petit fours each and then time for another amuse bouche. Oh, yes... the Marsannay. Great bottle 2015 and even better price. If you like perfectly stored burgundy, you'd love this. It opened softer, and was just what we wanted. Time for a tip, we added 15% and it seemed right to us given the meal. In all 400E. It would have been twice that plus for dinner with more wine.Glad we went for lunch.Sad we didn't go for dinner.Terrific time. Will remember well.
Be the first to ReplyThoroughly enjoyed our time at this restaurant.
Exceptional service and welcoming smiles from the staff. The food was a delight and made my trip of a few days memorable. We were there for a birthday celebration for a long time dear friend, they definately made it a very special evening. It was a huge treat to meet Mr. Guilbaud also and get a group photo with him.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely the highlight of our 'foodie' stay in Dublin.
No point in offering redundant superlatives, except to say that everything: service, ambiance and, of course, food were what you'd expect to experience at a Michelin establishment. If you are visiting Dublin, don't miss Patrick Guilbaud Restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyPG Restaurant is the only 2-star Michelin restaurant in
PG Restaurant is the only 2-star Michelin restaurant in Dublin city. There's a lot of hype that comes with that, and in my experience, the menu I tried did not live up to the hype. I was satisfied with my experience, but of the three Michelin restaurants I dined at in my time in Dublin, I would recommend PG least. The menu has changed a bit since I dined there but here's what I ordered:-tomato sorbet and feta cheese: This was actually the highlight of the menu for me. The tomato and feta go so well together..it's such an expected combination, but the coldness of the sorbet throws you off, adding an unexpected element to something that should be business as usually. I felt inspire after trying this small, simple starter. -ravioli with blue lobster: A bit disappointed by this dish. The ravioli was bland and the lobster meat was minimal. -veal and mushroom: This was a lovely dish, definitely bounced back from the previous one, but I've had better veal elsewhere. However, I really appreciated the portion of mashed potatoes that came with it. Without the potatoes, I would've been so hungry afterwards.Overall, I thought there wasn't a clear vision with the menu...it didn't really come together. The owner of the restaurant came over to my table mid-meal and I was able to ask him about the chef's vision. What he said surprised me: "We believe food should look like what it actually is and tastes like." I didn't really buy into that answer.Overall, I would choose a few other Michelin restaurants over PG. I thought the cost was way too high and there was a lack of direction with the menu.
