Be the first to ReplyGreat Dinner in Miami
We had a wonderful dining experience at Rao’s. We celebrated a birthday in the family and the restaurant exceeded our expectations. We had a great waiter named Timothy who took good care of us and are looking forward to coming back to Rao’s in Miami.
Be the first to ReplyA classic Italian experience right in Miami Beach
This place has all of the classic Italian vibes with wonderful food and impeccable service. Make a reservation early so that you can enjoy this iconic spot. You can't go wrong with any dish but the beggar's purse ravioli was a highlight. Get dressed up and enjoy going back in time inside this iconic place.

Giuseppe made our experience superb from beginning to end. All of his recommendations were top notch, especially the Diavolo spaghetti! We really enjoyed our dinner, and he made the best espresso martini I have ever had! We can’t wait to return!

I am appalled at the experience I had at this restaurant last night. I traveled from New York so excited to come try this restaurant. I chose it over many other top restaurants in the Miami area. I scored a 10:00 pm reservation. I got all dressed up in a fancy dress, makeup, and hair done. My husband dressed in business clothes. I have a permanent injury to my leg and have to wear special orthotic arch support shoes. They were dressy, glitter but no back. We arrived to the restaurant and were told by the hostess that the manager would have to come speak to us about my shoes as there is a dress code. I quietly explained that I have a disability, she said the manager would come talk to us and see what they can do. The manager Nara, came out and denied us entry. She was loudly saying she can’t let me in with my shoes. At that moment, I was so embarrassed. We asked if there is any exception that can be made as I have a disability but she kept saying no. I told her more than 3 times that those are the shoes I had to wear. As I was leaving we saw people leaving the restaurant with sneakers, some with basically cheap keds on, others with open back sandals with a slight heel as well as staff dressed in hokas. A woman with a dog in a purse was also permitted entry. I left the restaurant in tears, humiliated. Worst night I’ve encountered at an establishment. We told everyone outside, people were appalled. Rao’s how could you discriminate against someone with a disability? Of course we understand that there are rules to follow but to deny someone with a disability is outrageous. My husband called back to ask for the regional manager to call us, Nara called back and told us there is a dress code. I told her I had a permanent injury, she then over the phone said she didn’t hear us say that trying to backtrack and justify what transpired. She then said she could try to ask the chef if they could make us take out. My husband got really upset and said our money is good enough for take out though? I will not stop at just this review. I am determined to expose this discriminatory treatment against the disabled. I was allowed entry to another exclusive restaurant with a dress code in the area after searching for a place that would take us without a reservation. They were compassionate and accepting. I want others to learn of this unjust discriminatory experience. I’m sure there are many others with a disability, or who have someone in their family who has a disability that would be devastated to learn this. Rao’s where is your compassion ? How could you treat your supporting customers this way?
Be the first to ReplyTOTALLY AWESOME #1 HANDS DOWN, QUALITY, SERVICE, AMBIANCE ALL EXCEL LIKE "OLD SCHOOL"!
Unbelievale, BETTER than ever! Most awesome restaurant in Miami or anywhere (except maybe their original Harlem NY location) - BUT, this spot at Lowes' MiamiBeach is definitely equal...possibly better, if that's possible? !! Anyway, lots of special foods of all kinds and everything is above excellent! This is important because many of the "branch" restaurants from a long standing special place do not "make it" - but - This is the exception! GO! I have been to NY location, lucky to have been invited years ago and it's the same special feeling by all staff there too! Bravo!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
I was disappointed in my experience here. Went with some work colleagues. When we walked in wearing business attire, one of my colleagues with dress flip flops on was told she had to change her shoes since flip flops were not allowed. My food was not good, but my fellow diners all enjoyed their meals. I had linguine with clams in a white sauce. The clams were sandy and over cooked, and the sauce on the pasta was fair at best. The platter of roasted vegetables we had was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyRAO’s - FANTASTIC Italian dinning on Miami Beach
Open on Miami Beach (Loews Hotel) for 6 months, RAO’s (of NYC’s legendary restaurant since 1896) has been serving OUTSTANDING Italian food in here in South Florida. Their extensive menu offers choices for all tastes (though trying something with Rao’s famous red sauce is a must). On this visit we greatly enjoyed: House cocktails - excellent Margarita & Manhattan Cold Seafood salad - delicious chilled lobster, shrimp, & calamari in a lemon vinaigrette - yum! Rao’s MEATBALL in red sauce - INCREDIBLE! Veal ragú over gemelli pasta - delicious Shrimp scampi over spaghetti - yum! Sautéed snapper and fennel - delicious!! NY-style cheesecake - perfect Reservations are a must (though early bird walk-in’s can get an open bar seat at 6:00 pm). Plan ahead, and plan to enjoy a WONDERFUL DELICIOUS Italian dinner @ RAO’s Miami Beach!
Be the first to ReplyRude and Prejudiced Against Children
DO NOT BOTHER BRINGING KIDS HERE. We came with our well dressed family of seven (five kids) and they kicked us out because one of my children was wearing designer flip flops (she's 8). They let at least three other women in wearing flip flops but not my daughter, and made her cry because they kept pointing at her and singling her out. Couldn't be nastier at the check-in table. Kept saying the confirmation had the dress policy - BUT IT DOESN'T and they didn't care. Rude all around and clearly prejudiced against children.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, uneven service!
The vibe and ambiance are great but we waited quite a while before our server came to take our drink order. Food was overall very good, except for the drink prices which had an inexplicable upcharge of $4/cocktail - $20/overall for no reason! We asked to speak to the manager (who apparently is also the sommelier) and instead of removing this charge she was rude and unaccommodating and made up something illogical to explain it. We've been to Rao's in Vegas and LA and never had these charges on our check. Would appreciate a follow-up from the restaurant...
