Went to Range Life on my last trip to California and came back again so that says it all!
My husband and I went to dinner at Range Life while on vacation in California. We went here two years ago and loved it the first time around. Range Life is a small restaurant that serves elevated California-style food. We started out with cocktails. I had the Fantastic Voyage, which is a mezcal grapefruit drink with guava, pomegranate and a sprinkling of cinnamon on top. Oh my!!! My husband had the Atlas, a bourbon drink. I started out with the oyster appetizer. Yum! I could’ve eaten a dozen of those fresh juicy oysters. They slipped down my throat way too easily. So good! My husband had the warm panzanella asparagus salad, and I had the Caesar salad. Panzanella salad is a Tuscan-type salad with bread. It was creative and tasty and my husband enjoyed it. My Caesar salad was so overdressed and had so much cheese that it was off-putting. My bad as I forgot to ask for the dressing on the side like I usually do. I didn’t finish it because it was too much. It would have been perfect with less dressing and cheese as the dressing was good. My husband ordered the pork chop milanese that had a panko crust for his entree. He ate that whole thing and it was huge, so I’m pretty sure he liked it. I had the beef tartare appetizer for my entrée. We had shared this appetizer two years ago, and I absolutely loved it so I had to order it again all for myself. The sirloin steak was tender and flavorful and the bread was grilled perfectly. The best! Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and we had the nicest server with the coolest name, Lucky. She was great! Make sure to make reservations as this is a very small restaurant and popular.
Be the first to ReplyWill not go back
I went for my birthday and totally ruined my night. I had 7pm reservations and did not get seated until 7:40 which I thought was ridiculous..,my family thought I shouldn’t express my displeasure but I feel for a”Michelin guided restaurant they should manage their tables/reservations better…I’ve been to many nice restaurants before and I didn’t find this to be acceptable, i will not go back and i will tell everyone I know not to go, there are plenty of restaurants out there as good and better service!

This was my second visit and holy smokes it does not disappoint. The interior and patio both have a modern inviting feel and are staff is welcoming. The food : Delicious. Clean, beautiful presentation and the flavors are to die for. We barely spoke throughout the meal because every appetizer, entree , cocktail and dessert was so good. Range Life is an absolute must if you are visiting.
Be the first to ReplyA Birthday Celebration
We celebrated my friend’s birthday here. We had reservations and were seated out in the back. It was a chilly evening and blankets and a heater were provided. No masks required. We had a couple snacks and appetizers before our entree’s. I loved the bread. I had the HMB Rockfish for dinner. And I had the Honey & Ice Cream for dessert. The staff was friendly. Great ambience out in the back—much more quiet and intimate than inside. Lots of nearby parking.

Because of the size of our party, we had to sit outside. The wind was blowing leaves and bugs all over our table and food. It was not good. The waitress was awesome and the wine and food were very good. The bottled tap water was nasty. They didn't have any bottled water.
Be the first to ReplyInnovative Locally Sourced Food
This tiny little restaurant serves up big flavor. The restaurant has approximately a dozen tables and a little bar with approximately six stools. It’s a Michelin-rated restaurant, and I understand why. The locally-sourced innovative menu serves up flavor, texture and taste. My husband and I started with cocktails while we waited for our table. He had an Old Fashioned and I had the She Talks to Rainbows (bourbon, port, pomegranate & egg white). Very good. Joaquin was our server. He was definitely on his game with attentiveness and friendliness. He made wonderful recommendations, explained the menu thoroughly, and was there to refill my water or take away empty plates and bring new plates and utensils. I would recommend asking questions about the menu offerings because some things can be misunderstood on the menu. The crispy cod, for example, was fried and I don’t eat fried foods. It was more like a fish and chips type of fish, then a fish with a crispy sear on one side. Even with that little whoops, I still give this restaurant a five star rating…but I get ahead of myself. We shared a handful of Snacks and Appetizers before we had shared the cod entrée. We started with the snack of bakery bread with sea salt and butter, which was soft with a nice crust. Another snack item, the country ham with black apple, was smoky goodness, more like prosciutto to me. I spread the apple on the bakery bread and topped it with the country ham for the perfect bite. We had one more snack, which was the roasted bone marrow with fennel and white carrot giardineria served with grilled bread. The marrow smeared on the grilled charred bread…yes please! The giardineria was a bit too vinegary for me, though. Then we had two appetizers, the beef tartare which was served on top of grilled toast, and the yellowtail crudo with gooseberries and leeks. Both of these appetizers were very fresh, just the way you would want raw fish and meat. My husband and I split the one entrée we ordered, which was the cod and I told you about that earlier. To end the meal, we had the milk and honey ice cream with honeycomb and a drizzle of olive oil. A simple ice cream dish that was elevated by the addition of a crisp honeycomb and that drizzle of oil. Omg! They say you eat with your eyes first, and everything was presented beautifully. I don’t think you’d have a chance of being a walk-in customer so make reservations because this is a very popular place with very little seating. I highly recommend Range Life. Kudos to the chef and to all the friendly staff, especially Joaquin.
Be the first to ReplyWould you like some food with your salt?
Great cocktails, location and vibe but the menu is misleading,it should read 'salt with...' for the dishes. But seriously, the food was great, except that they pack a week's worth of salt into every entree. Please stop; you can put a salt seller on the table, no need to have one in every dish. If the kitchen stop preserving every dish for the winter this place will be 5 stars! Cocktails were goooodddd!

Food and service were outstanding. So nice to find this gem just down the road from Dublin, land of malls and chain restaurants. We felt like we had been transported to Seattle.

Dinner with some local wine. Had the frito squash appetizer and the cod entree. Sat at the bar. Very friendly service, food was very good. It’s a nice small space and very comfortable.
Be the first to ReplyLeft brunch disappointed - "Country Hash" misleading, mixed reviews
I'd been looking forward to trying Range Life for a while, and decided on brunch on a whim. Loved the ambiance, cocktails were tasty but a bit disproportionate as far as serving sizes, patty melt was delicious. However, the Country Hash was misleading as it had no meat in it - it was fried potatoes with fried eggs on top, for $15. So did not feel like a brunch meal, and my husband left not only feeling hungry but unlikely to return, which I did tell the server. His Bloody Mary was very generous and lasted throughout the meal, but my range life cocktail, though delicious, was mostly ice and little drink.

First time to Range Life and the four of us thought the decor, service, and food was outstanding and already talked about going back before we even left. It was one of the few restaurants that you can actually speak to your table mates comfortably while dining!
Some highlights were: pineapple juice and cilantro drink (non alcoholic), grilled flatbread and fried Brussel sprouts as appetizers, the halibut and the green curry potato dishes were awesome entrees and all the desserts were yummy. The vanilla and honey ice cream with olive oil sounded a little strange but was quite tasty. The only dish that was partially negative was the pork loin as it was dry however the accompanying salad was superb. We will definitely return and work our way around the menu!
Farm-to-Table Vibe
What a lovely little gem. Fabulous and knowledgable service, unique cocktails (I recommend the Range Water, very refreshing), and all around delicious. Especially enjoyed the kunik appetizer and milk & honey dessert. Menu changes regularly, however. And the space is very small, so a reservation is recommended, though they do have free seating at the bar--which is also small, so don't assume there will be room.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service
With great food, a ccomfortable and hip atmosphere, relaxing ambience, very attentive staff, Range Life has all the qualities that would normally warrant a 5 out of 5 rating. The only thing that held me back from shading that fifth circle was the fact that it took nearly 45 minutes for us to get our entrees. Moreover, the portions were rather inadequate. I understand that being a Michelin star restaurant would normally require defying the normal gargantuan American servings; however, I left the restaurant still feeling very hungry. And I had snacks (olives, crispy Brussel sprouts which were exceedingly delicious), an appetizer (Caesar salad and oysters), an entree (diver scallops), and dessert (milk and honey ice cream with honeycomb - oh so yummy!). However, the quality and of the dishes served cannot be disputed. Each dish was excellently prepared, the ingredients were all fresh and locally sourced, and they all tasted heavenly.
Location-wise, it’s obscurely positioned on the main road, right next to Livermore Glass. There are not a whole lot of parking spots in the rear of the building; however, the restaurant is surrounded by other parking options within just a short walking distance.
Great Dinner & Brunch too at Range Life in Livermore!
Range Life is a unique restaurant experience in Livermore! Its relatively new but you don't notice it as they already seem polished. The food standards (fresh, locally sourced), ambiance & service was exceptional. Great bar with unique cocktails creations there too. We've had dinner there a few times and loved it so decided to try brunch. Brunch was fabulous too.The hash is delicious! The menu always has something new and this place has a clean fresh vibe with friendly positive peeps. Its my new Livermore fave. Blaise
Be the first to ReplyHip place and great food
This was my second time here and it was great. The curry dish is amazing- so many different taste in one dish and I could eat the salted naan all day. The wine and cocktail menu is excellent and features local wines. I had a glass of the boaVentura de Caires white and it was super yummy and smooth. My friend had the fish entree and she loved it. I would recommend this restaurant for date night or out with friends— the vibe is cool and hip with exemplary food!
