Stopped in for a quick drink with the husband.
We did not have a reservation and opted to stand. It was okay. I'd been before with some girlfriends but we had a reservation and it was a much better experience. Definitely reserve a spot well in advance! Drinks were good. Just squeezed in between tables and the bar wasn't so fun. Espresso martini was good. My husband enjoyed the wolf in sheep's clothing (or whatever it was called). We'll definitely be back when our friends come to town. It's a fun spot for good (albeit pricey) drinks!

This is a cool speakeasy to go too! The front entrance looks like a storefront but then you sit in a revolving door and get let inside when your reservation time comes. The inside is pretty dark so I would have your flashlight ready if you cannot see that well! I did not order any food while I was here. The cocktails are so cute and just being inside is quite the experience! Love bringing people here for a drink when they don't know it is a speakeasy and surprising them!
Be the first to ReplyFun speakeasy with a revolving fireplace/ entrance.
The ambience was nice and dark in the back room. We were seated in two uncomfortable chairs first so we asked to move to another table and they moved is to the booths flanking the walls around the room. I thought it was great to sit back, peruse their extensive cocktail menu, and enjoy the view of their beautiful chandelier over the central bar. Once we placed our drink orders, they came pretty quickly to the table. Each drink was about $10-$16 for our group. They could have used a little more alcohol but the drinks were fun and yummy. You should make reservations.

Absolutely love this place! One of the best speakeasies in San Diego. The service is great, drinks are tasty as well. The interior of the bar is also very well done. Definitely a bit on the pricey side, but worth it once in a while. Also, you would definitely need a reservation. We were able to make one quite easily in advance.
Be the first to ReplyI came here on vacation back in November.
The atmosphere and drinks were fantastic. My only real complaint, was that we were given a "last call" after we had only been there an hour--we had a 2 hour reservation. I get that it's a popular place, but that was pretty annoying.

Raised by wolves has AMAZING cocktails!! Definitely have a reservation for this place or be prepared to stand/wait awhile for a table. The service is always really good and to get inside you sit in chairs that turn you into another room. They do not serve food and the drinks are strong so I definitely recommend checking this place out after eating dinner!

Raised by Wolves is a quintessential San Diego establishment, and we came to check them out during our trip. After finally finding their location in the mall, we checked in and waited for a bit for our turn to be seated. From there, we sat on the revolving fireplace and were spun into the bar in the back. The interior looks just like all the photos online, and we had a cozy corner table in the back. Our drinks were tasty, albeit pricey, and service was friendly. Definitely a place to take photos, enjoy the aesthetic, etc.

Not sure how to respond to the owner, but when I first ordered, I asked about other non-alcoholic options and the server said we can only order what's on the menu. We happened to get another server for the time being as our original server went on a break and I asked him the same question, I got the same answer. My friend who kept buying the rest of the girls drinks felt bad that throughout the entire night I sat on one drink. I told her I wasn't a fan on what's on the menu, really not a big deal as I was there for her, not for the drinks lol. She tried asking for me and same answer, they only offer what's on the menu and can't alter any items. She then randomly ordered something and I felt even worse because I couldn't finish what she got me. After a couple of sips, I had to pass. I would still recommend this place if everyone in the party drinks alcohol or they like lemonades. My husband is also non-alcoholic and loves lemonades, I'm sure he'll enjoy this spot lol.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance here was really nice.
Calm lighting and the entrance was very unique. The drinks were all very solid and there were some creative ones as well. Went here with about 8 people and we all had a good time. This is definitely a spot that I'd love to take people to if I get the chance again.
Be the first to ReplyI love speakeasies, and Raised By Wolves is solid.
Very vibey, drinks are delish! Apparently they are nationally ranked?? (Or so we were told). Located within UTC, so you could walk around / shop while waiting for a walk-in reservation, though I recommend pre-booking since they can get very busy. The bartenders are skilled, they know their drinks and we were impressed by their dealers choice. Would actually rate as 4.5 stars, but happy to round them up to 5! ;)

Came here for my birthday and we made sure to make a reservation beforehand. I've heard the wait is really long if you just walk in! We were even 10 minutes late but called in to inform them & they were really kind about it. You enter on this carousel thing. It's dim inside with light music. The vibes were everything! We got seated at a booth seating which was really cute. I got a Bidi Bidi Bom Bom which was honestly stronger than I thought it would be. It's a super cute place and would recommend for cute drinks + cute pictures!

Raised By Wolves is the epitome of a hidden gem in the world of speakeasies. From the moment you step through the secret entrance disguised as a liquor store, you're transported to a luxurious and enchanting space. The ambiance is both elegant and cozy, making it perfect for a romantic date or a night out with friends. The cocktail menu is extensive and expertly crafted, with each drink offering a unique and delightful flavor profile. The knowledgeable staff adds to the experience, providing excellent recommendations and top-notch service. Overall, Raised By Wolves earns a well-deserved 5/5 for its impeccable atmosphere, superb cocktails, and outstanding service. It's a must-visit for anyone looking for an unforgettable night out.

Hidden behind the walls of this inconspicuous spot tucked away in UTC is a rustic speakeasy with a lit-by-lamp-oil tavern vibe. It has a great laidback atmosphere that makes you forget where you are. The drinks are pleasant too, with the Tropical Contact High and Enchanted Tiki being my favorites!

You'll definitely need a reservation for this place as it is quite popular. It's a fun experience to head in there to try out some of their cool cocktails. We had dinner first at another restaurant and came here for drinks after. The bartender was somewhat stand offish in the beginning, but warmed up later. Overall it was a good experience with a very cool speakeasy bar.

Coolest bar! Atmosphere is awesome, I don't much care for the whole getting inside bit, but once you're in, its great! Also Its probably the only bar I know that has like a 30min wait time, so be prepared for that.
Be the first to ReplyDrinks took a while but really awesome place to hang out.
It's a relatively bigger speakeasy
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and a great experience.
Unlike any other speak easy I've been to. I will say, get a reservation before you go, otherwise you're in for a long wait. My party of four put our names down on the standby list and went to dinner. Two hours later we came back and they said they would have a spot "soon" for us. They checked our IDs then... 45 minutes later it was our turn. Get. A. Reservation. Not there fault. It's a small spot. Just plan ahead or be prepared to wait.

I absolutely love the hush hush vibe that this place has and have fun trying to get find where I took this picture. The servers were amazing and kind. I wish I knew that depending on if you're a walk in or have a reservation you have a different time limit to stay. I was unhappy that I ordered my second drink and was told that my time was up. So I felt rushed to finish my amazing drink. I learned make a reservation also best to visit during the week instead of the weekend.

The service was great and the drinks were phenomenal, the only reason why I rated it a 4/5 was due to how long it took to get our order in

I've always wanted to go to a speakeasy! When I visited San Diego recently and heard about Raised by Wolves, I knew I had to give it a try. Was able to book a reservation at 11:30pm for my boyfriend and I! Definitely on the later side but it was the only available time slot for a day of reservation. We explored SD all day before eventually making our way to Raised by Wolves, which we found was located in an outdoor shopping mall! Was not where we expected it to be, but it for sure adds to the surprising element for a speakeasy location. Love the concept of the entrance to the speakeasy! We got transported from a liquor store on the outside, to an old timey era of elegance and prohibition on the inside. The dimly lit space is filled with elegant furnishings and decor, blending vintage charm and modern sophistication. My boyfriend ordered the Island Old Fashioned and I got the Banana Cream Flip. The old fashioned was standard, no complaints here but was definitely very strong! For the banana cream flip, I enjoyed it so much -- the texture was almost like a banana milkshake with alcohol infused in it! Would definitely recommend trying as it is one of their more popular drinks. In all, Raised by Wolves is sophisticated, vintage inspired, and transports you back to another time. Couldn't recommend this place enough if you're ever in the San Diego area wanting a quick escape and a journey through time, while enjoying an unforgettable drinking experience!

I wrote an in depth review several months ago about this place, so I won't go through the logistics again. Instead, this review will only focus on the cocktails I ordered during the latest visit. And away we go...THE DRINKS | - Tiramisu 'Tini | Coffee alcohol with rum, aquavit, cinnamon, whipped cream, and topped with cacao powder. Yep, it tastes like tiramisu and as a coffee lover, this cocktail is right up my alley. Highly recommend. - Banana Cream Flip | Talked about this in my previous review, but it's worth mentioning again. This is a phenomenal cocktail due to its lightly creamy consistency and banana flavors. If you're on the fence with this one, I'm here to push you off and tell you to absolutely order it.

I went for date night with my partner and it was so amazing . Definitely a night to remember . We got there a couple minutes before our reservation and they seated us immediately . The sitting by the fire place and it turning into the bar was astounding . We got about three drinks each and they were all delicious, the tropical contact high was my favorite . I wish there was appetizers at least but there is no food. So make sure to eat before ! Overall it was just amazing

This is my second time visiting this speakeasy, and while the bar remains of my favorites, our waiter really dampened the first experience of the the guests I brought. We were served by Nicolai and the service could not have been more lack luster. We were sitting very close to the bar, and watched as our drinks were ready and remained sitting on the bar as he conversed with a friend. When he did finally pick up our drinks, he was talking over them for a while. One of my guests is very aware of/particular when it comes to germs, and he left not wanting to return. He did not check on us, offer another round, remove empty drinks - nothing. When I requested the bill, he took his sweet time chatting, walking around, and not caring. He truthfully might as well have told us he did not care about his job or serving our table. I am not one to call out names in reviews, but this was truthfully one of the worst experiences I have had here because of how we were treated.

The cognitive dissonance of entering a speakeasy from a mall is interesting, both as you enter and as you leave. The cocktails are phenomenal. Bring your own peanuts - there are not even bar snacks at this bar.

Excellent speakeasy with unique entrance! Overall, this was a really fun experience and would be well enjoyed with a group of friends or your significant other! The ambiance was really precise, definitely very old-world. The rotating turntable was really unique for a speakeasy entrance, though definitely made it a bit less discrete. Perhaps the funniest gag is that can peek at a full set of Fullmetal Alchemist on the shelves around the corner from the bathrooms. They have an extensive drinks menu and even some mocktails. All of the drinks were really good and leaned heavily into their fruity, root additions - there was no one unsatisfied at our table regardless of what we had. The one criticism is that they don't sell any actual food.
