We are visiting Peru from Europe. To come here to drink Italian water ... isn't there any water from Peru worth to be served at your restaurant? Between the water and the bread we paid more than we paid for a truly well elaborated dish. When checking the bill, it's really disappointing that you pay a lot more for the water/bread ... That isn't really sustainable.... The food was so well elaborated, so good,... that you could show some generosity by keeping the bread as a courtesy and the water local. Anyway, very good products, the plates were so accomplished but seeing the charges on the bill is kind of annoying.

Spectacular, gourmet food (they are not very abundant dishes). High price. The place is very fine and it is very pretty. Good attention
big disappointment
It is no longer one of the best restaurants in Lima, although it continues to live off the rent... the clearest example is mero al pil pil. That dish is a fraud because the sauce is NOT pil pil. In the Basque Country they would have always turned you down. The first thing is to know what a pil pil is. Nothing to do with the kind of American sauce they released. The pil pil is yellowish and thick. It's not looking red and very light like what they released. It's like ordering pork and having them bring you chicken, they are different things.
Incredible ambience. Amazing food. Chef Giancarlo is an artist!!!
As an American traveling abroad, finding this restaurant in the heart of Miraflores felt like discovering something magical. Our chef, Giancarlo was nothing short of an artist with the food. In all honesty, I’m a fairly simple traveler. Peruvian food is delicious and comforting, but Giancarlo’s dishes felt like being in a private art showing that gave dinner a level of excitement and awe that I have yet to match. The dishes, the ambiance and the service made me feel like a movie star or famous musician on tour (though my closest compliment is “a face fit for radio”). You will not regret going. You will absolutely regret not trying as many of Giancarlo’s amazing dishes as possible while there, especially considering how well priced they are for the quality of food and wine you will taste.
Seasoning
Everything was very delicious, and the presentation of the dishes was exquisite! In addition, the facilities made me feel very comfortable, the atmosphere very comfortable.
Tourist trap, overpriced, bread charged with no notice, terrible and untransparent charges (water & pisco sour)
I went in 2017 and 2019 and it was my favourite restaurant in Lima. Now it changed dramatically and became a tourist trap. They bring you bread at the table without inform there they will charge you 30 soles (more than 7 USD), they charge for a pisco sour (Perú National Drink) more than for any cocktail without notice the price in the menu. When you ask for a normal water, they only offer you an imported Italian water at the price of more than 6 usd for 500 ml…it’s a shame as the new management ruined what used to be the best restaurant in Lima
Great service, welcoming atmosphere and spectacular food.
Great service, welcoming atmosphere and spectacular food. We ate a starter and a main course (I can't say which was better). It's not cheap, but it's worth it. Note: the drinks are very small and have a high price.
Terrible service - be aware of “cover charge”
This experience was a major disappointment. The food was decent - the service was absolutely terrible - we were ignored for 45 minutes - the staff didn’t check on us at all after we ordered. They also charge for the bread and butter they give you without ordering it and call this a “cover charge.” Overpriced for very poor service - you can get better service at better prices almost anywhere else in Peru.
Don't miss Rafael.
It has been my first time there, but was impressed by the kindness of the staff and the quality of food. The mellow rice with duck is a must!
Best Chef in Lima
To me, this is the best and most underrated restaurant in Lima Peru. there is always the new and up-and-coming Restaurant, but this is your best bet for a fantastic consistent creation no matter the year or time. I think that chef Rafael should receive more accolades for his creations and outstanding restaurant service. The menu is always changing so if you came here in the past and see the menu you would automatically see that it’s not the same. I wish they can bring back the “Ceviche Galáctico” and the “Mango Raviolis” some of my favorites over the years. Our meal this time was as good as ever and the white fish with vongole was delightful. I have been here a dozen times and would never leave Lima without at least one feast with Rafael.
New culinary obsession
I had a waiting list to go to Rafael, since I had had excellent references from him. I achieved it and it exceeded my expectations. We had lunch and with the light of day the place is so cozy, the service is luxurious, and absolutely everything we ordered left us wanting more! My highlight, the Tuna Tiradito, is unique.
Flavorsome and friendly dining.
A wonderful dining experience at Rafael in Miraflores. Excellent food with so much flavor packed into all our dishes, from the breads and spreads at the start through to the petit fours to finish, and all served with friendly, helpful waiters. We were only in Lima for one night, so had selected and booked this restaurant with care beforehand, so we were happy with our choice and pleased with the reasonable cost.
Exquisite Birthday Dinner!
It's always nice when high expectations are exceeded, and this was certainly the case with the food and service at Rafael. It was my birthday; we had the Ceviche and the Lamb Shank with mashed potatoes and eggplant, and both the food and service were superb. We very much enjoyed speaking with Jorge, the manager, as he came to our table several times to make sure that we were completely satisfied. Considering the quality of the food and the impeccable service, we felt the prices were quite reasonable. We highly recommend Rafael, and we will definitely return!
A Timeless Classic
One of my favorite restaurants in Lima. I went twice, seven years apart, and was amazed by the quality and thoughtfulness of the dishes both times. Highly recommend the scallops, the duck pasta, the tacos, and the Chinese crepes. Service was also top-notch. Highly recommend this place!
A memorable gastronomic experience
We made the mistake of arriving ten minutes early for a 19:00H reservation and upon entering we were brusquely advised that we could not even sit at the bar for a cocktail, as it was not yet open. We were seated about 19:10 at a delightful, small two-top table at the end of the bar area and was outside of the main dining room, which room had a high ambient noise level. The table was fun because it offered a view of the action at the bar and the entry way into the restaurant. The server was outstanding and helpful in interpreting the menu. With a bottle of a fine Cava we grazed on tapas and appetizers and found the dishes to be artfully conceived, beautifully presented, full of taste, and prepared obviously from the finest of ingredients. Especially notable were a tomato and strawberry salad, a presentation of grilled asparagus, and grilled octopus tentacles. Once past the initial setback it was a memorable gastronomic experience.

The worst restaurant I visited in Lima. The service was horrible. The whole experience was terrible. It’s overrated. Not worth the price.

Dismissive and rude
This overall experience was truly disappointing. After planning my trip to Lima for several months I was truly excited to experience this as it has been rated in top 50 latin restaurants of the world. Unfortunately it was nowhere near the top and instead just one of the low points of my trip. Upon entering Raphael's it has a nice neighborhood restaurant feel with a sense of high class evidenced by the ornate bar and white tablecloths. Any sense of class is promptly lost with the horrible service though. While service outside of North America is typically more relaxed this was just borderline neglectful. The waiter dropped off cocktail menus and dismissed us for 15 minutes until we had to call him over to order a cocktail and ask for a wine menu. Following this we again had to flag him down to order drinks and ask for a food menu. After being left alone for another 20 minutes we were finally able to order food. This poor service continued throughout the meal as we would have to call him over for water, drinks, etc. Our group was 4 people and the restaurant was far from crowded. Just an overall poor experience and would avoid.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* BraveCloth47, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* BraveCloth47 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to BraveCloth47 for any questions Peter may have as BraveCloth47 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* BraveCloth47 now uses their connections at Rafael Miraflores to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If BraveCloth47 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, BraveCloth47 receives the $200 reward which is credited to BraveCloth47's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Rafael Miraflores!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
