Delicious Pizza - Quality Ingredients
Based upon a Canadian celebrity chef’s reviews on instagram, I made a dinner reservation 6 weeks before our Japan holiday. The restaurant is small and was turning away patrons on a Tuesday evening. I recommend making a reservation in advance. My husband and I enjoyed our Neapolitan pizzas - the crust was light and crispy. They cook it in a large wood-burning pizza oven. The salad was delicious- fresh & crisp with a refreshing dressing. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the pizza maker do his thing. I was impressed with their use of good quality olive oil. I would definitely go back to PST if I visited Tokyo in the future. This restaurant could easily compete with a pizzeria in Italy.
Incredible pizza
I have tried the best or most recommended neapoliltan pizza in many countries, including Italy and its home Napoli, and I think the best is right here in Tokyo. I susually goe for Diavola (or simular) or Margherita as these are always present on the menu. The ones you get at PST is simply jsut awesome. Everything with he pizza is just awesome. I cant but to word why I this on is the top one but for me its just something with the pizza here that is slightly better than the very great compitetors around the world. Just make a reservation and try it. btw I have not visited the one in Roppongi so I cant comment on it but this one is the original PST with the original founder. This is my second visit here. My first visit was in 2019 before the place got really popular. Back then they you could drop in and get a table with no reservation. The pizza was great back then and even greater now. A small advice to visitors. Dont expect a fancy italian restaurant This is basically a pizza oven with a counter buildt around it. The place is small and intimate. There are 8 counter seats that get sits basically in the kithcen. You can see eveything from how they make the pizze right in front of you to the huge oven. And they use wood, not electricity or gas for the oven. With the right counter seat you can see the pizza inside the oven getting cooked in minutes. There are also a few tables scattered around. The place isnt fancy at alle. Reminds you more of a shabby garage than a restaurant. So its all about the pizza and thats where they put their pride in. The menu do have other dishes as well but its mostly antipasti to complement the pizza. Do make a reservation or you will most likely be turned down at he door unless being very lucky. The staff do speak english so makign a call for resevation is possible. Or just drop by and see if you get lucky and if they are full make the reservation for another night. One important thing. This place cashless and will not accept cash as payment at all. Bring your credit card!!
Wonderful pizza!!!
Japanese food is tough for many visitors so this place is a great break from sushi etc. Quality of the pizzas is as good as anything in Europe and the crust is thin ! The tiramisu dessert was home made and delicious.....wonderful ! You need to book but be ready for a great meal and many choices of pizza. Staff speaks english which is always a bonus and are very helpful. Definitely need to return here for another meal.
Michelin rated Chefs-kiss pizza
Pizza with a Michelin Bib Gourmand award? Certainly deserved it. Arrived 10 minutes before opening which was a great idea without a reservation. Had one spicy sausage diavola and a Margherita, both with incredibly charred and crunchy crust. The saltiness of the dough is the main characteristic and was superb with a sweeter than expected tomato base. Bit early for a beer on this day, but they do have draught, so a tea margarita with mint was also delicious. 4/5 as it is pretty expensive for pizza. £41 for one medium, one small and 2 drinks is punchy even if you have got a bib gourmand, but hey they have a bib gourmand for good reason!
Tokyo Style Pizza is a must try
One of the things I wanted to try in Tokyo was Tokyo style pizza. Hear me out, the Japanese like to perfect all things so pizza making is one of them. Enter Pizza Studio Tamaki, one of the best pizza joints in Tokyo, if not the world. It's Michelin Bib Gourmand rated so it's gotta be good, right? Well it is. We showed up around 7 pm without a reservation. I asked about the wait for 2 people and the guy looked at his screen and said he could seat us at the bar. Great! We were excited. The place is small but there is seating upstairs as well. We ordered a few drinks and then opted for the Margherita and Diavola pizzas. They brought us out a small shot of corn soup as an amuse-bouche. We were definitely in for a treat after that. The pizzas are made to order in the wood fired pizza oven. We had a prime view of the pizza-making while in our seats. The pizza was placed in front of us as they got finished and sliced. We started with the Margherita which is tomato sauce, garlic, oregano, and basil. It was so good. The pizza crust is crispy from the mixture of rice flour and regular flour (although I think they'd use 00 flour here). The texture was really good as was the simplicity of the ingredients. The Diavola was next. The sausage, bell pepper, and olives added were a great touch. My husband was a fan of these toppings. He has been perfecting his own pizzas at home and claimed he could make something similar. Time will tell if he does but for now I was super happy to have tried Tokyo style pizza in Tokyo.
Frustrated
Went by. was closed for remodeling. Which is fine, but please mention it on your social media, so we don’t hike over there just to be disappointed.
Literally, the best pizza...
This is the best pizza that I've ever had, and my husband and friends (another couple) agreed. The crust was outstanding, and the flavors were just so good. We ordered a variety of pizzas, and every one of them were good. We also had the opportunity to say hello to the chef, who was so friendly. The only problem was that we didn't get a chance to go back there!
Tasty Pizza in heart of Tokyo
Shared four pizzas, salad, bottle of wine and appetizers with another couple. Everything was made in front of you. Thin crust crispy pizza which is hard to find outside of Europe. Good wine selection.
Pizza at it’s best
Where to start… the food is excellent and the service team look after you so well, even if you speak little to no Japanese. Eating on your own can be very boring on a business trip, but watching their chefs create amazing pizza for the huge 500 degree wood fired oven is fascinating. Pizza really is an art form and these guys mastered it!
Wonderful discovery
Discovered this wonderful restaurant via a friend's recommendation. The pizzas were fantastic and you could see that the team at the restaurant we all very enthusiastic in their service and food preparation. There was an apology on the menu for the price increases due to inflation, but honestly, none was needed as the food was worth every Yen.
So good
Great little pizza place amazing atmosphere delicious pizzas - best we have had in years. Didn’t read any reviews beforehand and walked in without a reservation - got a seat on the bar watching the pizza oven. Nice g&t and delicious puddings too. Highly recommend.
