They don't serve normal food or drinks, they only serve heaven on plates and in glasses. I have no idea what the name of my drink was but I never had anything like it. UH-MAZING. That was before I ate a bite. Doesn't matter what you get, because my party got half the menu and we tasted. Everything was fit for an emperor. UH-MAZING. Most of us didn't even realize food could taste this way. Never had anything like it but I very much hope to again. Didn't know service could be that kind of good. Absurdly expensive, yes, but worth twice the price. If you can afford it, you most definitely should eat here or drink here or just walk in the front door for a smell. UH-MAZING.

My birthday dinner at Providence in Los Angeles was an absolute delight, and a big part owing to the fantastic service which was incredibly courteous and thoughtful, making us feel truly special. The ambiance was romantic and indulgent, setting the perfect tone for a memorable birthday treat. While the food was delicious, I did find it to be on the salty side. Although considering Providence's seafood specialty, maybe I'm just not used to the brininess that surprised me with some of the dishes. I liked the Asian influence in a lot of the dishes. The wagyu was an absolute standout, melting in my mouth with every bite. I've never had such a thick cut of wagyu and it was such a treat. I'm glad our server talked me into the upgrade! The drinks were delicious and thoughtfully made too, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. One aspect that truly impressed me was the use of in-house grown or made ingredients, adding a unique and thoughtful touch to each dish. And let's not forget about the granola they send you home with - absolutely delicious! Parking is either valet or there's a lot of street parking. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Providence. It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in LA.
Be the first to ReplyPerfection is an understatement.
Expectations are left at the door because Providence exceeds any idea of an expectation you even think you could have. Excellence is achieved in every single aspect you knew, and every single way you did not even remotely imagine could be possible. I had a solo dinner on Friday and as soon as I entered, the host was incredibly kind and asked my name directly, confirming it was for my reservation. I sat at the bar which, at first, I was a bit hesitant but upon finishing this experience, the bar is an absolutely amazing place to enjoy a Providence dinner. My bartender Kim was a fantastic human and an incredible bartender. Of course the menu is set but I added a few supplemental items like the Uni Egg, Truffle Riosotto, and A5 Wagyu. I also ordered a couple drinks. I'll start with the drinks. The first, Japanese Penicillin, was incredible. Smooth, bold, sharp, refreshing, tart, sour, it was one of the best cocktails I've ever had. One of the other best cocktails I've ever had was my second drink, the Suavecito. An off-menu special for the night, I was confused when it was first served, as, pictured, it's clear. When one of the waitresses first explained that it used coconut milk, guava, etc, I expected it to be sweet and "colorful". But this clear glass of liquid heaven was INSANE. It was so light and smooth while still packing a punch with flavor and the booze. Now for that service. I think I encountered 20 people, between hosts, wait staff, bussers, bartenders, and of course, Chef Michael Ciramusti himself! Chef was waiting for me at the front before leaving and I had the chance to not only thank him endlessly, but chat a bit about some dishes and just the overall experience. He couldn't be more humble, gracious, and talented. Every single member of staff was so genuinely kind. Not the "I'm gunna be nice for a bigger tip" but the "I love working here, I enjoy serving these people, and I am proud to represent this two Michelin star establishment". The food was, simply put, to die for. Every single dish was perfect. The Amuse Bouche alone kicked me off to such a great start that I would've been happy ending it right then and there. But wait - THERE WAS MORE! Uni Egg. Unequivocally Excellent. Uni with mushrooms. Fantastic. One Potato, Two Potato - a classic redefined and revolutionized. Tai Sashimi. Profound. Sourdough Loaf from Tehachapi. Cozy home warmth. Truffle Risotto. Sublime. Wagyu. Bold. Salmon. Heaven sent. Scallop. Simply put? The best scallop I've ever had. Striped Bass. Traditions. All the chocolate was like what you want every Valentine's chocolate to actually be. Those 3-4 plates of chocolate brought Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Hawai'i, right to your mouth. The chocolate tea was MIND BLOWING. You smell hot chocolate. You drink literally "chocolate tea". WHAT. And that citrus fruit dessert was like waking up and dying on an orange grove. Seriously. Anyone who says otherwise about Providence needs a psychiatric evaluation. I'm ready to come back and I'm ready to experience this all over again.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for a birthday.
I made a reservation two months in advance. The tasting menu was phenomenal. Everything was so good and cooked so well. For the main, I opted for the salmon and my boyfriend got the wagyu. The salmon was cooked perfectly and I definitely recommend it. The service was amazing and very attentive. They gave us our menu which said "Happy Birthday" and granola to take home with us.
Be the first to ReplyHighest quality meal I have ever had.
Something I wouldn't even want to indulge in often because it was so special. Of course we had to get the uni egg and salt roasted Santa Barbara spot prawns outside of the prefixed menu. Everything was divine. Our server Ivar was above and beyond knowledgeable, kind, and witty. The restaurant had an atmosphere that felt extremely high end but not gaudy or pretentious. I savored the entire experience and can't find a single reason they don't have 3 stars at this point. But when they do, I'll be back!
Be the first to ReplyI thoroughly enjoyed eating at @providencela .
Providence is a 2 Michelin star restaurant located on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. The staff and food were amazing and so was the decor!!! My most favorite bites were the Salt Prawn and the Uni Egg. If you have a chance to try this restaurant, you should definitely go!!! Here is everything I enjoyed. 1. Bee's Sneeze Cocktail 2. Amuse - Bouche 3. One Potato, two potato 4. Shima Aji 5. Salt Prawn 6. Sunset Boulevardier 7. Uni egg with Caviar 8. Hokkaido scallop 9. Bread 10. Halibut 11. Vermilion Rockfish 12. A5 Wagyu 13. Peach, almond, shiso 14. House-made Hawaiian dark chocolate
Be the first to ReplyOnce in a life experience! Their food, ambiance and service
Once in a life experience! Their food, ambiance and service was superb! Each piece was a work of art. Initially you see the food and think so little?!? Why can't they serve couple pieces of each but by the time you get your first dessert dish you're absolutely full! But there are two more dessert dishes! So make sure you come with an empty hungry stomach! Their cocktail was really good too. Also because it's a course meal you should expect to spend at least 3 hours to eat the full course. I'd suggest the earliest time when the restaurant opens.
Be the first to ReplyGreat dining experience! Never disappointing.
The atmosphere is typical for a Michelin-star restaurant. Love that some of the produce is freshly grown on the rooftop 'farm'.

My husband and I went for dinner on a Thursday night for our anniversary. It was amazing. The food was delicious! We ordered all the extras as well as the chefs tasting menu offered because it all sounded so good and I'm so glad we did! The service was impeccable- all the staff were very attentive and considerate. We sat at the bar in the front and enjoyed the bar - drinks were perfect. I loved the quiet - that I could talk to my husband and actually hear him. Overall it was well worth it and I would love to go back.
Be the first to ReplyWhat an absolutely gorgeous experience! The food and wine
What an absolutely gorgeous experience! The food and wine easily deserve another star...on par, or better, than any 3 Michelin we've had. Every bite was a masterclass in elegance, balance, and beauty. The somm was charming and provided perfect pairings throughout the evening. If I'm being hyper-critical to the point of silliness, there were the tiniest of minute hiccups in the service that didn't impact our experience in the slightest but could explain why they haven't gotten their third star. Nonetheless, we felt it was a perfect evening and are so thankful to have a destination-worthy restaurant of this caliber in Los Angeles. Bravo Providence!
Be the first to ReplyThis was one of my favorite dining experiences yet.
Every course was such a hit. The macadamia and caviar course and the uni egg were both some of my favorite dishes that I have ever eaten, I was just in heaven with every bite. I had never heard of John Dory till I dined here, it was so fun to try a new fish and I was in love with the way that they prepared it! It had such unique and delicious flavors. The chocolate dessert was so delectable and the apple one was extremely refreshing. I love everything about this restaurant, the beautiful dining room matches the beautiful food being served. I really wish that they gave you menus at the end but I loved that they gave us a providence bag as well as some house made granola on our way out!

Service was lovely and attentive, although my water glass was empty for most of my meal. The atmosphere, beautiful. The food....meh. I left hungry and disappointed. The presentation was beautiful and tiny. However, the only thing that I enjoyed was the chocolate passion fruit bite. My dinner companions were fairly happy with the oysters, beef, and duck. The yellow tail was tough and flavorless. I was not given a knife and I had to saw at it with my fork. Then after one bite, pushed it aside. My fish main dish, again, flavorless and disappointing. My poor retired parents spent a fortune generously celebrating my special birthday and the food was creatively presented and frankly not worth eating. I will not return.

I'm not one to leave reviews but this was one of the most special dining experiences I've had thus far. The service was impeccable and every dish was better than the last. To top it all off, the chef came out to greet us himself.

Best restaurant I've ever been to before. The food is immaculate, the staff is top notch. I loved everything about this place. What an amazing experience.

This is probably the most formal dining room in LA, approaching NYC levels of pageantry. The food is outstanding and the food service is impeccable, but wine service is so very lacking, and has been on every occasion I've visited, which is 6-7 times I guess. It's not poor for a 2-star Michelin establishment, it's poor for any fine dining restaurant. Read on if you want more detail, but that's the quick and dirty review. The food really is terrific, and I've never had the same dish twice. Though individual portions are on the small side, there's a bunch of courses and you'll go home satisfied. Presentation is exquisite and each dish is both complex and creative, without being too busy or complicated for the sake of complication. It's pricey, and ever so slightly haughty, but you generally feel you have received your money's worth. Along with Melisse, it's probably the best eating in town. But the wine... ugh! A few years back, on a night we were drinking 15 vintages of La Tache, the bungling sommelier kept tipping and standing the older bottles between pours, so if you weren't the first or second pour, you had recently agitated sediment in your many thousands of dollars of wine. I had hoped things had improved over the years, but a recent visit I'm afraid wasn't any better. I have had to pour my own wines because the sommeliers either weren't around or didn't mind seeing me pour my own wine. If your wine needs to be decanted, you'll want to ask for that at least 20 minutes before you plan to taste it because the bottles leave the room and return whenever they return. Your decanted wines will have the sediment included in the decanter. You'll need to instruct your server on the serving temperature of your whites and champagnes because the somms will drop them in an ice bath and leave them there. This is a first world problem, but it just wouldn't happen at a Michelin rated table in Paris, London, Hong Kong, or New York. I'm sorry to say that wine service is equally bad whether you've brought your own wines to be bent over a barrel by the excruciating corkage policy, or if you've bought from the list, and that has been the case under each new wine captain since the place opened. Bizarre at a restaurant of this caliber and ambition, but you should probably pair your meal with cocktails.

I went to eat here last night and honestly was expecting a little more on the food side. Its a preset menu for everyone at $295 per person. Of course with finer dining restaurants like this, portions are smaller which I absolutely love (I get full fast lol and love bites of different varieties) but I think sometimes they get too creative with the flavors and so some of the dishes were a hit or miss for me. I would rate the food a 3/5, ambiance 4/5 & service a 5/5. Some of my favorite dishes were uni egg, 3 oz a5 wagyu, & uni/lobster tortellini. I would say this is a restaurant I would try only once for the experience.
Be the first to ReplyFor over a month I've been looking forward to this dinner.
Night finally came! I took my long time friend of 23 years for her first fine dining experience. Everything tasted so wonderful. No complaints on food or drinks. What took the experience down was we both needed to use the restroom. I just said I would wait til she was done and he said "you both can go I'll show you" as he leads us to bathroom he says "as long as you're not running out on the bill".That made me feel very small. If I was a gentleman in a Versace suit with a wife or something I bet he would never say such a thing. My hard working money deserves to be treated like anyone else fine dining. It made me embarrassed in front of my friend. Like they didn't value my money.Even in a joking way.. I felt it was in poor taste. Anyways. Here's my photos of the dinner and bill that I paid and didn't walk out on.Update 3/3- one of the owners reached out to me today to apologize for the comment the waitor made. He was very steadfast in how it's not just about the food but the experience and respect they have for the customers. We spoke for a long time and he was very kind with his words. He ensured that it never should have happened and that he will be speaking with staff about how comments of this even in joking way is not ok. I was very appreciative of the call and thankful he wanted to correct the action / give me a better end result for the meal. Thank you again for reaching out and your kind words.

Be the first to ReplyProvidence was the restaurant I was looking forward to the
Providence was the restaurant I was looking forward to the most during my LA Michelin food tour. After months of research trying to find the best restaurants in LA, no matter where I looked, everyone seemed to agree that Providence was at the top of the list, and it shows as it is one of the few 2 Michelin star restaurants around the area. This ultimately meant that I had exceedingly high expectations for this place, and while all the food was amazing, it fell just a bit short of the mark in providing me with the complete experience I had hoped for.Starting with the looks of the place, you could tell you were walking into a fancy fine dining restaurant. A bit too dark for my liking, but still very sleek, elegant, and contemporary throughout. Ambiance, check. Service was a hit-or-miss. I actually liked the people who cleaned up our tables/plates over our actual waiter. There was just this weird, awkward vibe I got from him. He just seemed completely detracted and uninterested in us, and he only came by once to ask us how the food was. On the other hand, everyone else was great. As soon as we finished our plate, there would always be someone behind you to help clean up after you and present you with your next course shortly after. I even had a funny incident where I accidently stained my dress shirt, and one waiter immediately ran over to ask me what he could do to help clean it off. So service overall, semi-check. Now for the food. Overall, Providence offers the most imaginative interpretations on the highest quality seafoods that you can find: lobster, oyster, caviar, king crab, etc. Every dish was unique, flavorful, and decadent, and that's coming from someone who's not the biggest fan of seafood. What I can say for sure is that Providence has one of the most artistic plating I've ever seen. Every plate was just a work of art. So eloquent and aesthetic, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Some standout courses were the entire hors d'oeuvres course (appetizers), Norwegian king crab, and the A5 wagyu. Cocktails were terrific as well. Great balance of alcohol and sweetness for two people who aren't drinkers. However, when I take a look at the price per person ($275), I can't help but just think to myself: was this worth it? Don't get me wrong, each and every course was extraordinary, but there's only about 7 main courses if you don't count appetizers and dessert. Portion sizes were small too, so if it wasn't for the fact that I ate beforehand, I would have probably been still a bit hungry afterwards. With two cocktails and the wagyu supplement ($30), plus tips, the total came out to almost $800. To me, for a price of that caliber, I expected a little more if I'm paying that much, whether if it's offering a larger tasting menu or providing better service. In short, Providence is the perfect place for first-time guests who want to experience the highest level of fine dining. After dining at Kato the night before, even though it had only one Michelin star, I thought Kato was more worth the money and provided a much better food experience altogether. I think I can say to others that I'm glad I got the chance to try this place out, but this will be a one and done type of thing for me.

The restaurant itself is rather beautiful, with tasteful design and a posh atmosphere. The staff is quite pleasant. It's best to make reservations ahead of time because you might not be able to obtain a table. The meal was delicious. Small servings and a little too expensive. Typically, little veggies or baby potatoes should accompany the meal. You should order everything as a side dish because your main dish will not include any of them. I had beef tartare, which was delicious. We enjoyed the golden chocolate ball for dessert. It was nicely presented and tasted delicious, but it was overpriced once again.
Be the first to ReplyI took my fiancรฉ here for her 30th birthday.
I read the reviews and was excited to try this place. Sadly our high hopes soon became disappointment as each course rolled out. Starting with the "on the house" hors d'oeuvres, they were way too overpowering, the lobster cracker was extremely fishy. The spot prawns were great as well as the oysters... Because how can you mess up fresh seafood. The delight of these dishes weighed more on the freshness of the ingredient than the skill of the chef. The main issue that I see with this restaurant is that the food is overdone with trying to complicate some thing that could've been beautifully simple. Once multiple flavors are added in you can see the challenge with balancing the flavors, the heaviness, and the overall cohesiveness of the dish... it became a multi course of overprices small portions. Amateur at beat. The service is great but a little bit too much. Too much walking around and pacing by the restaurant staff, makes the ambience feel uneasy. Waiter explained the different wine pairing options-- which can be summarized as "there's is an expensive wine course and if you don't give a damn, here's a shitty wine flight to go with your meal." The decor is also quite peculiar. Nothing seems to really have much character. Sadly this is a restaurant that suffers from trying too hard. Lastly the biggest issue is the value. Our bill came out to $800 plus and we left extremely dissatisfied, we felt the food was so heavy we were uncomfortable. Definitely not experience I would want to repeat or recommend anyone else to partake. I really wish we had a better experience. I really wanted something special for my fiancรฉ but was gravely disappointed.

I was fortunate enough to have a sampling of many of the dishes here for a work related project, and everything was out of this world. ย I still remember the duck most of all, absolutely fantastic. ย The cocktails the bartender treats are quite unique too. ย This is one of only four restaurants to receive two Michelin stars-- and although Michelin does not survey Los Angeles anymore, they still have the quality that has earned them. It's a celebration restaurant for sure, so be prepared to spend a reasonable amount of money-- not too excessive, especially if you limit your wine, but it can add up quickly.I'd say experience is 100% worth it though, each dish is created with the level of care you'd only find at such a wonderful restaurant.
