Would not recommend.
Restaurant was lovely, food was okay, but our server was very intrusive for some reason. Master sommelier was very helpful. Surprised to know itโs a one star Michelin restaurant. Would not recommend.

While our dinner was nice and the food was good, there wasn't a specific memorable dish. We had a nice evening and enjoyed our meal but the vibe was similar to other restaurants in Napa/Bay Area and did not seem to compare to other 1 star Michelin restaurants we have eaten at in other countries (Spain, France, Croatia).
Be the first to ReplyService staff great but food nowhere near Michelin quality
Canโt fault the service and staff, very professional. However, for a one starred Michelin restaurant the food was significantly below par. Some of the dishes were okay (eg the chips and dip and pigs ears) but the main courses and deserts were a disappointment. The steak was way too salty, chewy and burnt around the edges. Plus the beef tartare portion was too big and chicken was too soft, felt like a marathon trying to finish it. The deserts did not have much flavour and were forgettable, so much so I canโt remember what we even had. This was absolutely not worth the price and weโd recommend looking elsewhere for fine dining in Napa.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelmed
Would have been underwhelmed if this was not a Michelin Star restaurant. Service was mediocre (wine spilled on table, plates removed at different times for table of four, check taken before we left table, dishes not explained as served, etc). Food was mediocre (except for pigโs ears which was the only memorable dish, 100 dollar upcharge steak was tough and served cold and had obviously sat waiting to be delivered from their chaotic kitchen, flavors in general were uninspired). Wine recommendations were 1 out of 2 in terms of meeting the profile described - a $120 dollar Rose that tasted like box wine followed by a very good Cab that was worth the money and met the flavor profile we described very well. The gist of the the evening was promising my guests that next time we would all go to Auro.
Be the first to ReplyNot at all worth the price
Yowzers. This place is a rip off. The food was good, but not $150 per person for a set menu selection good. My group all agreed on this. The drinks were great, but also outrageously expensive. For four of us we spent $975 - that's four meals at $150 each, plus two drinks each, plus tip. Our service was good. Overall, unless you just want to flush money down the drain for a decent (not superb) meal I would suggest other places for less OR for an exceptional meal worth that price. We all agreed we wouldn't go back or suggest it for that price point.
Be the first to ReplyAnniversary Dinner at Press
We had visited Press to celebrate our 10th anniversary , from the moment we had entered the place to till the end experience was truly amazing..Food was truly amazing, delicious, hospitality was incredible. They had done everything to make our dinner special.I will recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyStandards are high at Press
This was our second time dining at Press. We enjoyed a celebratory dinner at PRESS in St. Helena shortly after they received their first Michelin โญ๏ธ in November 2022. The food was excellent as was the wine - they have the most extensive wine list in the Napa Valley so if you want to try different wines by the glass, this is a good place to do it. At the time of our visit, we noticed the wait staff needs to rise to the level of service expected at a Michelin-star restaurant. The meal was so delicious and we were in celebration mode, I forgot to take photos of the food! Want to learn more about wineries and restaurants in Napa Valley and beyond? We were visiting from Las Vegas. I've been to Napa several times but this was my girlfriends first time. My sommelier friend from Vegas highly recommended this restaurant. We were really excited and went there on Sunday with a high expectation as we learned that Press recently got a 1 star Michelin. Location is easy to find. Inside of the restaurant is nice and has a good ambiance. Host was welcoming and very sweet. Unfortunately not our server. It wasn't a good experience for us. Our server, Simon, wasn't professional and rude with attitude. I used to work in hospitality and restaurant and I understand some nights are just difficult, but his service was lower than standard. We went there for just a tasting menu but were interested to try the chef tasting .. so we asked him about it but he told us we could just have a regular menu and had no interest to talk to us much. He was focusing more on talking to a table next to us which were 2 women who I believe he must have been aquatinted with. Well that's not a problem, we were there to experience the food so we don't mind that. We selected Chef tasting menu at the end. We were going to order champagne to start with but he was no where to be found so we decided to just go with a wine that we bought from winery that we visited earlier. And I should mentioned that we've been pouring our own wine almost the whole night. Personally I think flavors were ok but nothing special. And yes I've been to numerous Michelin restaurants. I gave the point to creativity though. Some of my girlfriends liked a few dishes. Honestly I would give a chance one more time to try the food, but I probably won't because of the service. Overall experience was ok. Most staff were nice but our server really needs to go back and get more training and be more professional. I usually don't like to give negative reviews unless I feel like something really needs to be addressed. This is just my opinion.

I turn 60 today, so we chose Press, went last night with my darling wife, Sarah, and it was outstanding. The four course meal was delicious with a ton of variety from which to pick in each course. While the service was, in a word, stunning. Now "tourist" restaurants should and really do not care about people, for when will they come back? But not at Press. I felt like the owner of the place, the way they treated Sarah and me!!! The very sincere and delightful waitress to the Som to the manager - they were so kind and caring the whole night. Go!!! You will not regret it!!!

I wanted to love this- this restaurant got very precious and the food is not that good. Overpriced and we were both starving when we got home!
Be the first to ReplyThis Michelin Star Shines Dim
For the cost, you can find much better service and much better fare close by, which is shocking considering this restaurant has a Michelin star. Our server was pleasant, but seemed disinterested. We were delayed being taken to our table, which isn't an issue, but when the remaining experience left us wanting, it is difficult to ignore. The starters were amazing. We had a beef tartare and caviar, which was sublime. My main was the truffle risotto. Yes there is freshly shaved truffle, but beyond that, al dente and lifeless risotto awaits. Another couple had the chicken and the steak. The chicken was spectacular, but the steak was under-seasoned and also lacking in that flavor we would expect from Michelin rated cookery. I am glad we tried it, but like I said, spend your money elsewhere for a better dining experience elsewhere.

Impeccably professional, delicious and creative. Here the food is as good as it looks. Dishes were well plated and scrumptious. We opted for the al a carte-menu of blackened cod, gnocchi, salad and appetizers of croquettes and tuna. For dessert we had the cheese plate.
Be the first to ReplyPRESS is perfect
Unbelievable experience. Food and service unsurpassed. I would not change one ingredient on the Winter Chefโs tasting menu. The wine pairings were perfectly presented by an astute & knowledgeable sommelier. PRESS kept honoring my ever changing requests for reservation times. And, the staff made us feel special with an additional treat for our anniversary. Ended the evening with a personal send off by the extraordinary staff. Will return on our next visit to Napa area.
Be the first to ReplyPRESS is Excellent
PRESS was outstanding. My wife and I took part in the fall tasting menu. Each course was excellent. I was concerned that the portions would not fill me us up. By the end, I was borderline miserable I was so full! The wait staff was very attentive. They took time to visit, but were also non-intrusive. The wine tasting was very well done. The Sommelier that poured each glass was very knowledgeable, and took time to answer specific questions. They brought over a small โextraโ dessert celebrating my wife and Iโd first trip without our kids. Small details. Could have easily been heard in passing but they decided to join in our celebration. The view from the restaurant was outstanding (we were there day after the crazy snow) and the restaurant itself is very nice. We canโt say enough good things about our experience, and would absolutely go back.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing meal at beautiful restaurant
PRESS is beautiful restaurant with a warm and inviting feel. On the unseasonably cold night we visited there was a nice fire going in the fireplaces. We originally had a reservation for outdoor dining but when I contacted the restaurant about the forecast for rain, they promptly found me an indoor table. Let''s start with the wine. PPRESS has an amazing and extensive wine list, almost completely devoted to Napa Valley. Others have called it "overpriced" but that is difficult to determine since there are so many older vintages on the wine list. I'm very impressed with the dedication to Napa. A great part of visiting wine country is eating and tasting locally. I doubt they're serving Napa wines in Burgundy restaurants. Id brought a very nice bottle of Napa Valley cab sauv from my cellar. The somm was very helpful and opened the bottle to breathe. We asked for advice on two glasses or half bottle of white. She informed us that if we bought a bottle the corkage fee on our other bottle would be comped. Made it very easy to pick a half bottle of NV sauv blanc, which actually paired better with the first few coursed of the tasting menu. They brough beautiful, appropriate stemware for the bottle we purchased and the bottle we brought. We had pre-ordered, pre-paid for the tasting menu. Our waiter (Brady, I think) introduced himself, asked if we had any questions and began the service. He was a perfect gentleman but funny and with an infectious laugh. They had already pre-substituted the one shellfish dish I couldn't have. The dishes came out at a very nice cadence that was unrushed but not too long a wait. At one point there was a longer than usual wait for the next course and they sent a somm over to apologize and pour us two glasses of a 2006 cab sauv from the valley. Much appreciated! Pretty much all of the courses were interesting, creative, expertly prepared and delicious. I'm a pretty big athletic guy and was pretty full after all the courses but not overly so. My more petite partner could not finish all or the courses. (You can see the tasting menu on the website.) Beautiful restaurant, great wine, friendly professional service. I highly recommend PRESS.
Be the first to ReplyNo longer impressed
We've been here multiple times visiting from Europe. Press was consistently good. Not anymore. Corkage fee of $50, a price I haven't seen in the best restaurants in SF. Steak tartare completely butchered. A few small pieces of meat when we ordered the New York Strip. Last night we had dinner at Morton's because we wanted a 'real' steak. Better service, better quality of food and not overpriced.
Be the first to ReplyReally Bad Experience
Four of us dined here the other night and three out of four left disappointed. Ambience is gone-now just loud. The drinks were decent with an average espresso martini but what they ruined were the oysters. OMG they were covered in this nasty foam and were way overpriced. Just serve the oysters. Then the caviar appetizer--$55 and it was literally TWO BITES! A complete joke. The smoked chicken entree was so smoky it couldn't be eaten. My $72 NY Steak was actually half a steak as it was literally five 1/4" slices with a mushy onion garnish-unbelieveable. And finally the effort we had to put forth with runs to chat with the chef by the waiter Sol to get an awful vegan risotto was laughable--and they charged $45! We told the worthless manager JC about our issues and he blew us off. Save your money and go to Bouchon or Farmstead for a much more satisfying meal.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and over rated
We went for dinner on October 13, 2022. We ordered the New York strip at $72. When the meal came, it wasnโt a steak, it was four small circles of meat that might have weighed four ounces total. To top it off, all the food was cold. Including some type of mushroom sauce that they poured on the side. Never again. The only good thing was the waiter. We got a $20 meal for just under $200.

Weโve been here several times in the past and were so excited to revisit. What a change from the past! All 8 of us were disappointed for many reasons. The menu is weird and very limited. The appetizers are not shareable and tiny. The prices are extremely high. The wine list is immense but way over priced. Donโt go here expecting a steak as in the past. Completely different restaurant and very average food and horribly above average prices. We will not be back.

every dish was incredibly tasty if you're ready to splurge on a meal. great service. thanks for having us

Average food, some plates were not good at all, service was mixed. The kitchen must have had a bad night since thereโs no way they can pack the place at those prices with mediocre product. The pretzels were good though!

Wow! I could end this review right there but the full experience needs to be shared. Our dining experience at Press was flawless from the moment that we walked in the door to the moment we left. If you read my other reviews, it will become clear that I am not averse to taking restaurants and other establishments to task when they do not measure up or pointing out flaws when warranted. You won't see any of that here because our experience was without flaws. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were immediately taken to our table. We ordered a half-bottle of Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc (chilled perfectly) to enjoy as we perused the menu. Salvador, our server, promptly came over to our table to greet us and answer our questions regarding the menu. We started with an order of the Kusshi Oysters and the Seeded Pretzel Epi. The oysters were served with a light and subtle strawberry mignonette and a foam of nasturtium (a flowering plant which has a cucumber-like taste). They were super fresh and the preparation was one that I had never seen anywhere before. The pretzel was toasted, glazed with butter, sprinkled with onion powder and served with a yogurt butter. Both selections were superb. Next up was an order of the Charred Octopus (twice charred with a truffle mole and served with fresh potato salad and wild radishes) and the Ricotta Gnudi (squash filled dumplings with a light parmesan drizzle). Once again, no negatives to report here. For the main course, we both ordered the Truffle-Glazed Chicken. I cannot remember the last time that I ordered chicken at a fine restaurant, nor can I remember the last time that my wife and I ordered the same dish. That said, Salvador mentioned that the chicken was a signature dish of the restaurant. As he started to describe the dish, he indicated that the skin was removed from the chicken (generally a negative for me as I believe that is where much of the flavor is). However, he went on to add that sausage made from smoked bacon was then laid on top of the chicken and the skin replaced (now we were talking!). The two generous pieces of chicken breast were extremely moist and served surrounded by fresh artichokes in a light wine sauce. Honestly, it is not easy to get me excited over chicken, but Press managed to do it. With the main course complete, I joked with Salvador that he only had one course left to ruin the so far perfect meal - dessert. Needless to say, once again, he helped us select the perfect capstone to our meal. My wife had the Vanilla Tarte and I had something called a Pavlova which consisted of a very light merengue with a wafer and strawberries inside. Additionally, we both ordered the mint tea made with mint growing right outside on the restaurant grounds. A perfect end to a perfect meal. Throughout the meal, the aroma of each dish foreshadowed the incredible flavor to come. Moreover, the service and attentiveness of the staff was impeccable. My wife and I have eaten in many of the best restaurants all over the world and can honestly say that our meal at Press was high on our "top 10" list of all time. In the movie Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise advises a young pilot "Don't think, just do." If in Napa, don't think, just do dine at Press. We will definitely return every time we visit Napa.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the high cost
Friendly staff and good wine selection, but the food was not very good especially for the price, we spent $900+ four a tasting menu with more than one course was inedible. Much better options for dinner at more reasonable costs
Be the first to ReplyWorst meal ever
We weโre so excited to try PRESS. To say we are disappointed would be an extreme understatement. Spending $850 yet having numerous people literally not finish a plate is beyond unacceptable. To start our evening we were served a warm $100 bottle of sparkling wine. When we mentioned the temperature to our server they simply gave us a lesser wine while ours was chilled. The only notable dish was a soft pretzel which again for a fine dining restaurant is alarming. Save your money. Go to Cook. Go to Model Bakery and have a huge lunch. Go literally anywhere because the lackluster meal you are about to be served and then charged $77 for a chewy, raw steak is 100% not worth it. And then they, to add insult to injury, will tell you to add a side that could basically be hash browns from McDonaldโs to your entree. I wish I could leave negative stars. I would.

We ate at Press for our anniversary. When our flight home was cancelled 3 dayโs later, the only good part was getting to go back to Press again. We were treated like very special people during our anniversary dinner and like old friends on our return. Dishes we loved included the Ricotta Gnudi Appetizer, the Petrale Sole, the Lobster en Brioche and the Risotto! A beautiful room with the friendliest and most professional staff.
