A Lowkey speakeasy bar with a healthy layout suitable as a double date and tasty--albeit very expensive--cocktail options to choose from. $21 a drink. 3.75/5 stars as a night bar.

2010s music was pumping and it was a VIBE! We had a super comfortable half-circle booth for a table of 6. The drink menu was very dark liquor forward. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tónico. It was a refreshing gin and tequila based cocktail. There was a bit of a line to get in, despite having a reservation, but once in, everything went smoothly!

We came here on a recommendation and put our names down on the waiting list. We received a text message when we were up and had so much fun walking into this small and cozy speakeasy. The menu is extensive and the drink offerings were so enticing with their creativity. It was so hard to choose just one. If you can't decide, the bartenders are super helpful whipping up a cocktail to suit your liking. I ordered the stone and thistle and savored every sip. If you appreciate a skillfully designed cocktail, this place is most definitely for you. And for anyone in your party that is abstaining, well, there is also a good selection for them too so that everyone can enjoy. So get yourself on the waitlist and have fun.
Be the first to ReplyHot dogs.
Taxidermy bear. Unique cocktails. I mean, what more could you ask for? Hah! You enter through a phone booth for god's sake. It's very cool.Seriously though, the gourmet hot dogs are really freaking good. I got the everything with pepperocini and I've been craving another one ever since. The cocktails are really unique but pretty much whatever you get is perfectly balanced and delicious. I had the Nordic root which had beets and dill and sounded funky but it was so refreshing and lovely!
Be the first to ReplyLove myself a good speakeasy and this one is so unique.
You walk into a hot dog shop and there's a telephone booth on the left where you ring and they open a secret entrance that leads to the intimate bar setting with some tables/couches for bigger groups. I got a cocktail called "shark" which had so many things in it I don't even remember what alcohol base it was but it was pretty good. It kind of tasted like a strong alcoholic cool aid. I enjoyed it and would come here again.
Be the first to ReplyStill amazing, even after all these years and after many
Still amazing, even after all these years and after many other speakeasy/cocktail bars have come and gone around the city. This is a classic that holds up! Recently went to an event where they did cocktail making demos and talked about their philosophy on how to create a drink, which was very interesting. They're focused on delivering a drink that you'll enjoy - high quality and precise, without being overly complicated or fussy, and you will taste the difference in the choices they make particularly in familiar drinks like an Old Fashioned - among the very best I've ever had!

Awesome place for great drinks and shock value for someone who has never experienced a good hidden speakeasy in NYC ask about the secret menu for the awesome cliff dogs!

I love Jeff Bell the owner of PDT from listening to him discuss the Benton's Old Fashioned on Cocktail College. I went to PDT with high hopes, but was disappointed at how badly managed this establishment was. This has everything to do with the door staff. We were added to the wait list and told in 90 minutes we would receive a text. After over 2 hours we decided to return and ask for a time estimate. Upon arrival we saw several groups who specifically said they didn't have a reservation get let in immediately by the female door staff at approximately 12:30 on February 11th. When we asked for the same accommodation we were told to wait for 30 more minutes. After hours of wait it was finally our turn and then with no reasons given she told us she couldn't accept our id's. Not only were they real id's but they were TEXAS Id's and I'm a registered bartender in Texas and know for certain that this woman turned us away for no other reason but as a power trip. If you get a reservation I'm sure you can enjoy this place with no issue, but if you plan on joining the waitlist you are wasting your time. There are several other good cocktail bars you can take your business to.
Be the first to ReplyReally cool speakeasy in East Village.
You enter through the phone booth in Crif Dogs and there are instructions once you're in the phone booth. If you know you want to have drinks there in a busy night, I would recommend putting your name down before dinner so that you can be sat after you eat.

Super cool speakeasy! Make sure to reservations as it's small and usually has a decent wait. Also if you have to wait the taco shop sells alcohol for cheap!

Ok this place is awesome! It's a hidden speakeasy within the guise of Crif Dogs hot dog shop. There's a little phone booth within the wall right inside to the left, inside of which you'll find a pink retro rotary style phone. There are directions on the wall and I'm not sure we did it correctly, but I think you're just supposed to press the button on the center of rotary to ring the doorbell and have someone let you in.Inside is dark and swanky, decorated kind of like a boujee study with chesterfield booths, small tables, and a bar. We made reservations a week ahead of time because had been told we otherwise may not have gotten in-at that time the only available slots were for 5pm and 12am, so we picked 5pm and were the first customers of the day. More people came but it definitely didn't fill up by the time we left shortly after 6pm. Service was attentive and personal. Drinks were simply outstanding. Great variety of complex cocktails for any taste. We tried the green mambo (fresh and lightly sweet with vegetal flavors of cilantro and celery, little spicy-thoroughly enjoyed), Suntory time machine (sweet flavorful Japanese whiskey and sake together with rich pecan and maple aftertaste), mezcal mule (not too Smokey, and love the chili spice addition), and Benton's old fashioned (sooo different and delicious-strong but not overwhelming and leaves a charry aftertaste that feels like you just ate awesome barbecue because of the bacon infusion-possibly my favorite of the evening!)They had a few loaded hot dog options for food, as well as tots and burgers. We just wanted a small snack so got the nacho tots which were vibrantly decorated with nacho toppings and tots perfectly fried underneath.Overall loved this place and would absolutely go back for the best cocktails of your life.
Be the first to ReplyAnother place that holds a special place in my heart.
PDT was all the rage way back when. It's been a VERY long time since I've been back to this speakeasy, but upon walking in through that and phone booth, it felt like old times. A small dim lit spot where booths are lined up against the back wall and a nice size bar to the right when you walk in. We were seated immediately at a booth all the way to the left. The service is on point here, and the drinks are phenomenal! I started with the Pan Am Sour and it was one of the best drinks I've ever had! The egg white made it super frothy. Not too sweet but also not too sour, this drink was a perfect way to start the night! We ordered the truffle tots and regular tots for those who don't do truffle (unfortunately that's me). We also requested so condiments and ketchup, hot sauce and mustard were brought out for dipping. Before heading over to the next spot, we did one more round and I decided on the Victory Speech. Not only was this drink gorgeous, it was also super delicious. There was lychee in it and I couldn't have asked for a better drink. I definitely need to come back here sooner rather than later. This place is spot on for a date night or great to bring an out of towners too!!
Be the first to ReplyI think this place is super cute and spunky.
Love the entrance to the bar & music was fire. Worth checking out !

Lived here 7 years and never got around to going here - finally decided to bite the bullet only to arrive and be told that our rez was for a table outside. The "gentleman" who told us this was a straight up a-hole about it and made us feel like idiots ("it clearly says in plain English that the table is outside on the reservation - do you not speak English bro?") - we checked, there was nothing straight up and clear on the rez to indicate it was outside. He was almost aggressive about it to be honest. After his nasty attitude, we chose not to patronize the outdoor table and will not return with an indoor rez. I'm sure PDT was worth the hype a decade ago but it's not hard to get a good cocktail in this city nowadays and after the small taste test of their customer experience I doubt I'd enjoy the complete experience.
Be the first to ReplyMy friend made a reservation through Resy.
I was surprised by the telephone booth to let the host know we had arrived. We were told the Resy was booked for an outdoor table. I wanted to see the inside but the outside was still nice. They taped a speaker to the construction structure so there's still music outside. Drinks: My friend got the La Lavanda and she liked it. I got the La Perla. Its a bit sour for me. Probably would try something else next time.Food: For food she got the BLT and I got the Tsunami. Both were good! The hot dogs were dry on the outside, guessing it was deep fried. We also got the East Village tots, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They chopped the jalapeno so its easier to get some with each bite. Service: Servers were really nice. They hang out right next to the front of the shop so it's easy to flag one when we need something. Overall good experience. Would stop by again if i was craving a specialty hot dog.

I've been to PDT a few times, most recently yesterday, around 5:30. It's wise to make a reservation because it fills up and the bar has a maximum capacity of around 30. The drinks were very good--everyone got something they liked. My first round had molé and cinnamon in it and was complex, with different tastes arriving in waves. Strongly recommended. Much of the food is available next door at Crif Dog, so you can save a few dollars by eating before you drink. Since they're making craft cocktails, it's not quick: I'd allow for at least 40 minutes per round. The server/bartenders rotate, so we had two different folks taking our orders. One was pleasant, but the other was less so.

Had a great time last visit but tonight I had reservations for 7 pm and when I arrived I was told outside seating only. Really..outside seating for a speakeasy? Come on..how ridiculous..won't waste my time going here again.
Be the first to ReplyI've been wanting to check PDT out for a while, but it
I've been wanting to check PDT out for a while, but it doesn't live up to the hype. The experience of hurrying to make a reservation a week in advance and finally getting through the telephone booth is nice... but the drinks were only ok. The space itself is well lit and loud - which is not at all what I was expecting. Despite the taxidermy theme, I think the bar was lacking any atmosphere to it. As for drinks, I had the mezcal mule, which was universally voted by the table as the worst drink - I hate to say it, but it really tasted like vomit. I love mezcal, but I think this drink put me off it for a while. My one friend ordered rhuby slippers, which was actually pretty good - but it's a standard, uninspiring cocktail with no presentation.

Made reservations with the condition that if we were late then we would be charged a fee only to arrive on time and be told to wait outside (in the pouring rain) because they were not ready...once inside after 20 minutes in the rain, we were treated to mediocre drinks for exceptional drink prices.
Be the first to ReplyRidiculous place.
We were visiting from out of town and had a reservation and were still made to wait 30+ minutes for a table. Keep in mind they charge $90 for cancelled reservations. Not at all worth it for the very poor service.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is overrated.
I've been working pretty hard to get reservation for this place and really hoped that it will be as amazing as some other cocktail bars in Manhattan. The bar and cocktails are no more than mediocre, the service is horrible. Ambiance and location is good.

PDT is so popular that we came here twice and finally got in the second time. The first time was on a Sunday evening. We didn't know the entrance was inside Crif Dogs, and it took us a few minutes to find the entrance to the bar. By the time we found the entrance to PDT, there was already a line. It was surprising since it was only around 5:30pm. We put the name down and was told the wait time was around 40 minutes. We waited for at least 50 minutes and checked again and was told they can't provide an accurate wait time given that some people had reservations. Wish they could tell us earlier so that we would go to another bar immediately instead of waiting. We came here for a second time on a Wednesday evening around 5:45pm. Luckily, there wasn't a line this time, and we got in right away. There's a phone booth at the entrance to the bar, which was cool. You'd need to pick up the phone and dial it to enter the bar. We ordered two cocktails - mine had carrot juice in it which was quite interesting. I like the drinks, and the service was also good, but I'm not sure if it's worth waiting for a long time.
