Petition in Perth is an absolute gem! From the moment I
Petition in Perth is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the stylish ambiance and friendly staff. The menu offers a delightful range of dishes that cater to various tastes. Whether you're a foodie or just looking for a great meal, Petition won't disappoint. The attention to detail in both food and service is outstanding. I especially loved the Feed me tasting menu. Pate - a big dollop that can feed 3-4. It was rich, creamy, and not too salty Eggplant - indescribable Salmon - out of this world Hummus - different but still incredible Duck - not too fatty and not too salty Carrot salad - Speechless Dessert - great way to end the meal The pairings of the dishes was absolutely amazing as the contrast of flavors was amazing. The portion was unexpected for a tasting menu. It's a fantastic place for a special night out or a casual meal with friends. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

Located in a big historic building in downtown Perth, home to multiple restaurant concepts. The vibe is upscale but in a converted warehouse sense that it looks more minimalist in its finishes. We arrived for our early reservation, a combination of jet leg and towing kids along too, and were seated right away close to the open kitchen to see the action. The menu has some good looking tapas options of varying sizes - we shared the zucchini flower, fish of the day and chicken. The flavors were just OK, nothing particularly standout or memorable. I thought there would be more of a connection between this restaurant and the wine bar and craft beer hall in the same building, or more craft cocktails, but the options on drinks were fairly limited (more wines available by the bottle). There are two kid options - fish n chips and hamburger - decent options but I was surprised by the pricing ($22 and $18 respectively) and there was no option for a vegetable in either dish, only chips. Our server was friendly and attentive when there was an issue with a broken glass.
Be the first to ReplyNice place! I Stopped by for a late lunch.
I had the lamb shank. It tasted amazing and the meat just pulled apart with a fork. The only thing that knocked them down from a 5 is the price of a few items on the menu.

We only had breakfast, it was fine, met expectations for the location and price. I suspect the dinner experience is where this place shines , I'll have to come again another time for dinner.

While in Perth for two weeks, I tried many different places for breakfast and Petitioner remains the best (by a large distance). I love breakfast in Australia, they do a great job, and Petition has always been one of my favorites. On my first trip back post-Covid, I found the menu has changed a lot and was quite nervous. I ended up ordering their version of huevos rancheros, which were almost poached eggs battered. Tasted MUCH better than I just described, to the point on a second trip I could not justify trying something different. Still the best breakfast.

Nice to be home in Perth after living in Melbourne for 2 years. We had the king fish starter and pork belly mains. The potatoes sides were excellent. Service was friendly and prompt. I get the local produce theme, really worked well. Thank you for the great dinner.

Had an amazing breakfast here recently with a client I was interviewing whilst writing his story. It was so delicious, great gluten free options and the coffee was amazing.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I had lunch here on Wednesday around 1:30pm.
We were visiting Perth, and we saw this restaurant in our research of places to eat. There were plenty of tables, and the waitress was very attentive. We ordered the chopped broccoli salad and the roasted brussels sprouts. We especially liked the chopped broccoli salad. Very hearty, and we felt that the portion was quite generous. The balance between the saltiness of feta cheese and savory seasoning was very good. The brussels sprouts were good, but nothing too special about the dish. The pricing overall was on the expensive end, but we recommend if you're looking for some quality lunch!

Ok. So I know this place sports a few too many city suits and is popular with a pretentious crowd... but dammit it's actually good! This is my 4th visit and it's consistent. I've been at "happy hour" (there is no happy hour here), for dinner, for breakfast and now for lunch. I prefer this place for breakfast and lunch because there are no crowds and in spring/summer a nice little outdoor space. I wasn't able to order the chef's selection for lunch ($50pp) because I'm dining alone and was also advised to not order too much so had to limit myself and STILL ordered too much food. Photos tell what I ordered. Raw kingfish is very creamy. More homey and hearty than expected. Not actually a delicate dish. Potentially they were covering up a fresh fish with a frozen texture... but it worked and the heavy lemon cream is exciting anyway. Surprisingly this was too heavy for a Mt Barker Riesling. A classic Chardonnay probably would have worked best. Happily paired with a young Cab Franc. The tartar delights!! Heavy with cream but the shallots and sesame dance on the tongue. Thank God for Cabernet Franc. This dish is too heavy for a white. I probably should have ordered a peppery Pinot noir or Malbec... back to the sesame. Mmmmmmm Potato side is delicious. The lightest thing I ordered when I thought it would be the "hearty, homely" dish. Ha. The cumin is strong and encourages nice potatoes perfectly roasted to speak for themselves. Ok. Blah blah blah. This lunch stands out against Perth's backdrop of either cheap street food or overpriced bad food. Here you get what you pay for, and at this stage I'd rather pay in this city of mostly indelicate food.
