PESCA Waikiki Beach Honolulu Reviews from The Last Year
Superlative in every way - from the location to the view to
Superlative in every way - from the location to the view to the service to the selection to the pricing - this restaurant is our new favorite in Waikiki. Don't miss the incredible all day happy hour either. This is how hospitality SHOULD be run!
The food is always good here but the staff was amazing.
When in Waikiki area, Pesca is a must for a great meal with fresh ingredients. Oh yes, the view isn't bad also
Wonderful Lunch with a fabulous View!!!
We came here for our anniversary lunch. The staff here is amazing! The views from the top floor of the Ilikai are spectacular as well. The restaurant has its own glass elevator. Food was really good! A very enjoyable lunch!!
Went for Mother's Day brunch buffet, 10am reservation.
Looked like we were the first ones there, greeted and seated quickly by the window with the always beautiful view. The hosted who sat us invited us to the start buffet whenever we were ready. Great, but I always start with coffee. Had to wait 5-10min for a server to come to our table, we were the only ones there. We came here last year for Mother's Day and I remembered they had a mimosas flight, server said sure but then she came back and said they weren't doing the flights, I ended up getting my coffee and a lilikoi mimosa. Now to the food...the food options were waay better last year. No poke and very limited desserts. All the food tasted overcooked. The Portuguese sausage and thick cut bacon were burnt and hard. I don't know how you mess up pancakes but it was chewy and the waffles were soggy. The scrambled eggs were rubbery, the fish was dry, and the prime rib was well done. There was no carving station so it was whatever was cut. I took a bite out of each to at least give a try, but couldn't waste my stomach more than that. At least the steamed crab legs, raw oysters and fruit were good. But it wasn't like you really had to do anything for those. I tried to get my money's worth eating those but I don't eat that much. It was like the food had been sitting out for hours. A person from a different party even said to me, "you think we should tell them the food is not good?" Totally not worth the $85ish, not counting the mimosas I had to compensate for the terrible food. I would have gladly paid more for the buffet at the hotel a few building over, but wanted to avoid the crowd they were sure to have. As we were leaving and the food was being replaced/refilled, the fresher food did look it would have tasted better. But I'm not chancing it and wasting money here again. Too bad, I thought it was worth it last year.
this was our second year coming for mother's day brunch.
unfortunately, this time wasn't as good as last year. not as much selection, everything was dry (pancakes...how do you mess that up), and they didn't have as much alcoholic beverages. servers were very nice and it is a pretty place. maybe this time was a miss.
The classic egg Benedict is spectacular, in both quality
The classic egg Benedict is spectacular, in both quality and quantity, and is reasonably priced for being on the 30th floor of a Waikiki Beach hotel with spectacular views to Diamond Head in one direction and the Waianae mountains in the other. The dish comprises of two very large poached eggs with tomatoes and the thickest cut of bacon (at least 1/4") I have ever encountered on a wonderful English muffin. The dish comes with either a salad or grilled potatoes. We chose the potatoes and were very satisfied with the preparation. I am a big eater and still needed a takeout box to bring one egg Benedict and half the potatoes home (attached is a picture of the half I took home). Kevin is a very warm and cordial waiter. He took on a personal tour of the dining area and took pictures of us admiring the views. All in all , a very memorable breakfast.

Came yesterday and they turned away a party of 10 for being a little later than expected for a reserved table. They gave our table away to 2 people who didn't have as large a party. Beyond the 2 they seated, no one else had shown up for their group to occupy such a big table. The hostess said she would ask them to move to a smaller table but when doing so the 2 people refused so we left. Management should not give away reservations so hastily for such a large party. I guess they aren't interested in good business or making money. The next day we tried again and the hostess sat us at a table that was too small for our large group. They ignored our table and didn't regularly check on us while prioritizing other smaller tables. Our drink order was slow as was table service. They got drinks wrong and were missing drinks and can't be bothered to bring sweeter to the table even though they said they would. The staff seems way overworked and stretched thin. Our waiter was also tending the bar?! One entree we ordered took over an hour to come out after appetizers. The restaurant is also sweltering hot. Guess since they don't make any money they can't afford to run the air conditioning. I can't believe this is supposed to be upscale dining as it truly is nothing of the sort. You can get better service at Zippy's or just about anywhere else in Honolulu. I wouldn't recommend eating here, save your money and eat elsewhere.
Had a wonderful breakfast.
Kevin was EXCELLENT and really made the morning memorable.

Wanted to throw out another review of this place in that I've been multiple times mostly because of the convenience, it's in the building I'm staying at, and the view. Went with the catch of the day which as almost always is a fish with a Japanese sounding name that escapes me. I'll attach a pic to show but the portion size is embarrassingly small. I put the fork on the plate for reference. And again, would it kill them to throw a side on it especially at the prices they charge. I think a lot of people go for drinks at the bar. Some bartenders are not experienced enough though and struggle with drinks.

Grateful to have came here with a group and also as a couple. With a group of 10+, they sat us to the corner away from the bar, where the view of Waikiki and beyond was right in front. Gorgeous! With my husband, we sat close to the window but another couple got lucky enough to graze right at the view. I know we can't get the best of both worlds, but you do pay for that view, am I right? We made a reservation to make it before sunset. The hostess sat us immediately and the waiter was very attentive. Pulled out our chairs, placed my napkins on my lap. Told us to not worry about a thing and allow him to do his job. I think service both times I've been there have been great. The Uni Pasta is my ultimate favorite here. I get it. It's a fish restaurant. I should enjoy more than uni. But impressive uni is not came across often. Savory... buttery... I'd absolutely order it again if I had a chance. Other than the Uni pasta, we orders a fish (totally forgot the type) "acqua pazza" style. We are fans of a fish that's mixed in with a broth and this style was a poached white fish with wine, tomato, herbs, and clams. I enjoyed the experience of picking and customizing our fish! Understandably, it is a Waikiki location and a fancy on at that so pricing was more than what I think my experience held. But overall, it was very delicious, and grateful for a gorgeous view.

We had the most amazing brunch! Kevin was an unexpected delight, inviting us into the private areas with the best views and offering to take photos. The Salmon toast was delicious!

Stars Located in the IIikai Hotel on the top floor so VIEWS FOR DAYS!!!! and watching SUNSETS This hotel has been around awhile, showing a bit of age but don't let that put you off ~ We went for their Happy Hour and I was surprised how good the apps were we shared the charcuterie board with meats, cheeses & fruits, octopus on soft polenta, the sliders, oysters & a shrimp cocktail. The presentations were lovely and the drinks good too

We had cocktails and appetizers the other day and the bartender - Joel - was unkind & disrespectful and argumentative when we asked about our appetizers. We had waited quite a while (25 min) and saw tables get served that had sat down way after us - and he was so disagreeable - and snarky about it, insisting we had waited only 10 min. So much for customer service. Since we "vote with our dollars" we were going to omit a tip - but Pesca added an automatic tip of 20% , not giving us the choice. Thus, we had to pay 20% for being insulted. Never again will we go to Pesca in the Ilikai Hotel. To note, we are locals - and frequent local places to support our neighborhood restaurants and bars and we will steer others away from this place, too.

I've gone here twice now and coincidentally have had the privilege of having Kevin as my waiter both times! This place is amazing! Great view, great food, drinks and ambiance!!! And Kevin's warm and inviting energy just makes it even more special! They also have a reasonably priced HH and prefixed menu! It's definitely one of my go to spots on Waikiki!

First time at Pesca, Wow Wow just amazing! Food was for sure 5 star quality, you pick your own fish get it weighed and server helps you pick your cooking on it. Our waiter Alex was so helpful and knowledgeable his recommendations were on point!, all his recommendations were amazing choices!!! Our meal was if not the BEST EVER , one of the BEST!! Noise level at Restaurant was good could converse well and enjoy a nice relaxing Anniversary dinner! Which was made extra special by Alex, bringing a delish anniversary dessert ! Views are stunning, Just an amazing night in this Beautiful/delicious Restaurant!!!
Absolutely awful.
Terrible food. Microwave tourist cruise ship crap. No flavor. Dried out fish. Dried out rice. Robbery prices. If you know anything about great restaurants and dining experiences worth $100/ head check average, you will stay away from this criminal tourist trap. If you wanna see the soaring view, have at it. Have a beer or a glass of overpriced wine then take the elevator down and catch an Uber to a legit restaurant. I am angry at how terrible it was. Arrghhhh
I'm SO glad to have experienced this restaurant.
The ride up the elevator was super cool. All the wait staff was so nice, attentive, and professional. I loved the octopus!! I still think about it and it was over 6 months ago. The views are unbeatable. So glad to come here for my mom's birthday.
Amazing food and views! Had breakfast and mimosas.
Which was amazing!! And the views incredible! Breakfast prices were reasonable
Very pricey but terrible food.
Not worth it!!! Don't fall for the pictures they have in the hotel lobby! Great service and ambiance but sadly, food was terrible.
chose this place for my birthday brunch while I visited
chose this place for my birthday brunch while I visited Hawaii and the whole experience was extremely annoying. I made a reservation for 10:15 am and got there 10:13 am and there was no host/hostess to greet guest upon arrival. No one came to seat us until 10:24 am. This place was completely empty, maybe one other party when we arrived. Our server was just rude. Rarely came to check in on us. I ordered the steak and eggs with potatoes and asked for egg whites over hard and he said " they come How they come" . The food was bland, Nothing special. The view is the best part other than that the price and the service it's not worth your time. The two young ladies, who did serve our water and asked did we need anything were absolutely delightful, and attentive Unlike our actual server. He had two other parties that were right next to us. We were in the middle, and you can tell his demeanor was overall more friendly and attentive with those parties. I will not claim that our server was prejudice due to not knowing his character extensively, But I will say the young ladies, who were attentive and showed great custom service were women of color like myself. I don't expect up and beyond service at any establishment, but I do expect the bare minimum of kindness, and that was not given.
Great food, great staff and view
The food is really amazing The presentation of the fresh fish is a bit strange because there is nothing local in it, but if you order the menu based on Ahi and other things that are available here, it is simply a dream
Nice evening meal
Julie "Juju" and Stephanie were our waitresses and they were awesome. Excellent salads. Uni (sea urchin) pasta was very good as well as fresh Dover sole. Good wine selection and being on the 30th floor the views were great (360 degree views with fireworks over the ocean at 8 pm). Very nice evening for reasonable prices.
Great Views, Extremely Slow Breakfast Service, Cold Coffee
We decided to try this restaurant for breakfast because of the views. We were the second small group to arrive on a Sunday morning. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated, and were offered coffee right away. The first round of coffee was like warm, but not terrible. They gave very little cream, and each time we got more coffee, we had to ask for more cream. We ordered the specials with no changes or special requests and waited 40 minutes for them to arrive. Once, they topped off our coffee with cold coffee. After that, we asked if the coffee was warm before they served it. Food was good, but not worth the wait or the cold coffee.
Excellent Place for Evening Drinks, but Don't Forget about the Breakfast Menu
The hotel suggested Pesca for breakfast, which kinda took our family by surprise ... as we had just spent an evening at the top of the building for drinks, etc. We were surprised ... very limited crowd, wonderful menu, awesome food, great service, etc. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming ... and contrary to what we assumed, the prices were very comparable to other restaurants in town. If we ever make it back to Oaha, Hawaii, we likely will stay at this site again ... and take advantage of Pesca dining menus.
Beautiful views in an elegant setting, fine dining, some excellent values.
I’m perplexed by the nasty reviews. My wife and I dined there three times. As our custom initially cautious the second and third enthusiastically. When vacationing we eat our main meal between 2:30 and 3:30, partly depending on the menu - lunch, dinner, happy hour. We find it's much quieter, seating better, staff less harassed. We stayed nearby; our landlady recommended. We didn’t realize there’s a dedicated exterior elevator to their top floor. In the lobby, notices made us think it was ground floor and baffled we asked security who led us to the unmarked elevator. They reception was alway unmanned. We wandered up a few steps and after a bit were welcomed. The staff is uneven, some, as others have noted, seem bewildered, others are spot on. Is there a manager? The views are spectacular, the city and the great blue Pacific. Ask for a window seat. A display of handsome fresh fish, most imported from Japan or France. Price by the pound, one must order a whole fish which means a minimum of a pound and more likely much more. Four menus: breakfast [we didn’t try], lunch, dinner and all day happy hour. For lunch there is a four course prix fixe @ $38 and five specials @ $12.99 The menus are complicated; you might stop by early, choose a table and peruse the menus. On our first exploratory lunch we had the grilled Ahi salad [Nicoise] enough for two at $28 and a delectable fish burger @$25, given the elegant setting we thought a bargain. Our second, seafood bruschetta @ $18, four tasty pieces overpriced, and the Ahi salad. On our third we arrived at 2:45 ordered a happy hour shrimp cocktail following at 3:00 with the seldom seen dover sole and a decent glass of house white @ $9 because it was our farewell. Otherwise I’d suggest you consider a local fish. We thought the delicate sole was overpowered by a drenching of lemon butter sauce better on the side. We could eat there regularly.
Don’t order the crab.!
Very disappointed . My husband ordered crab and it was awful. We spent $400 and would have had a better meal at Burger King. We were looking forward to a special evening but this wasn’t it. We won’t be back.
Not a great experience
Despite spotty reviews in the past the latest reviews seem to indicate an upturn. My husband booked this for our last night in Hawaii. To begin with it was magical. A beautiful stroll along the beach to get to the hotel. An elevator ride with a view of the marina whisked us up to the 30th floor. Escorted into a dining room they often use for weddings which had a spectacular view of the ocean and marina. The appetizer was good - beef tartar, assembled tableside. And from there it went quickly downhill. Service was not particularly attentive. When we asked for an explanation of something on the menu the answer was "oh it's just something we put on for garnish". She obviously had no idea. We ordered surf and turf to share but they didn't ask how we wanted our steak. The food came out cold. I mean the kind of cold that you get when an entree has been sitting waiting for quite some time before it was served. The rice was overcooked and so cold the butter on it didn't melt. (To be fair - we also ordered grilled asparagus which was hot and excellent) The wait staff had no idea how to handle a complaint. When we asked to speak to a manager the wait staff became almost non existent. We weren't trying to be difficult. We are Canadian after all, We want to be polite. But we also wanted to be heard. The food would have been pretty good if it had been served when it should have been. We ate the meal and were willing to pay. But no one seemed to really care that the food was poorly served. I don't think there was a manager of any sort on the premises. They just wanted us to shut up and go away. Wasn't worth it. It could be such an amazing place but it really bummed us out. They did give us a 50% discount but my advice is - find another place to eat.
Extraordinary meal, attentive service and spectacular view
Started with a cocktail and fresh bread, with hummus, tzaziki and another dipping sauce. Beet salad was amazing. Our entrees were filet and marlin and a side of Brussel sprouts. Our servers were attentive and the view from the top of the building was magnificant. This meal was probably in our top 10 meals anywhere in the U.S.
Kicked off NYE
We stopped in to kick off New Years’s Eve with a cocktail and see the beautiful views before our next stop. It is pricy but enjoyable for special occasion and views.
Spectacular views and great value Pesca Special
Located on the top floor of the Ilikai Hotel, the view is amazing. For lunch only, you can choose from 5 dishes for 💲12.99. We had the orzo pasta with large shrimp and the meatloaf. Both were delicious and we were happy with the price. Drinks are the normal price 💲9, so I hope this special menu will continue forever. There was a variety of customers, including not only tourists but also local ladies. We had a nice seat by the window, but the air conditioning was a little weak and we felt hot.
