Pendry San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
Wonderful Experience
The hotel is wonderful. The room felt luxurious, modern and very clean. The bathrobe was so soft, I wanted to take one home but I did not have room in my luggage. The gym was fully stocked, clean and had a diverse amount of equipment. The pool was spectacular with ample seating. The fireplace in the lobby was so welcoming. The bar is a very happening place. I enjoyed my stay.
Daughter’s 18th (debut)
We chose to have a debut party at the pool house (2 cabanas and pool-suite). The goal was to have it fun with the view and nut a typical wall to wall debut party. It was a success!!! All staff were very accommodating, respectful and excellent service. Place is so clean and the pool view is amazing. We had a blast!!!
Great experience hosting event
My organization hosted a Gala recently at Pendry San Diego and everything was top notch! I would highly recommend choosing the hotel for your next event! Our guests were blown away by the atmosphere, food and service. And of course the location in the heart of the Gaslamp is incredible. Thank you Pendry!
Incredible people and amenities
The people at this hotel were so kind and friendly. Nathan went above and beyond to make our experience comfortable. He let us know about amenities, like a crib, microwave, and sound machine!, that were available to us that made our stay so enjoyable.
Elegant and comfortable!
Beautiful place with amazing staff! We stayed for the first time at Pendry, it was for my birthday. We had a corner room with amazing view of the city! We were impressed and felt welcome! We’ll definitely try other locations now! Elegant designs throughout the building, multiple options to dine, located centrally downtown with access to many other places to enjoy.
Dishonest and Bad Attitude.
I was overcharge for valet parking and EV charging even though I didn't use them. I asked them to remove the charge from the folio. Once they removed it I paid and left. Then they charged me after I left without any notice or emails. I randomly saw the charges when I was checking my CC account online.
Outstanding Hotel
I stay at the Pendry SD whenever possible, probably 5 stays over the past decade. What a lovely spot. Fantastic rooms, nice bar, lovely pool, perfect location. That's how I like to dial it. Look forward to returning.
I've just departed Pendry San Diego after what I can only
I've just departed Pendry San Diego after what I can only describe as a truly exceptional experience. My colleagues and I had the pleasure of staying at the Pendry San Diego, and I must say, they truly understand what it takes to create an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was transported to a world of old-world charm combined with modern sophistication. Every aspect of our stay was carefully attended to, from the turn-down service in the evening to the convenient clothing steamer provided in the room. This establishment is truly a home away from home in every way. The attention to detail at Pendry San Diego is remarkable. I felt as if I had been transported back to England, and I can confidently say that Pendry could easily be compared to the renowned Dorchester Hotel in London, as the boutique version. In fact, Pendry has raised the bar in terms of hospitality and service. Not only was I impressed, but my colleagues who also stayed at Pendry were equally spoiled by the exceptional hospitality. They are eagerly looking forward to returning and sharing the Pendry experience with their loved ones. Let's talk about the room - it was simply breathtaking! The design, the comfort, and the luxurious amenities left me in awe. Every small detail was well thought out, making my stay truly memorable. And let's not forget about the products. The quality and selection of toiletries provided were top-notch. They truly understand the importance of providing guests with the best, and it did not go unnoticed. But what truly sets Pendry San Diego apart is its amazing staff. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Sarah, Chloe, Jennifer, Bobby, the bellhops, reception, concierge, BOH, FOH, Fifth & Rose, Provisional, and The Pool House. Each and every one of them contributed to making our stay exceptional. Their warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness were truly remarkable. I'm already counting down the days until I can return to Pendry San Diego. Thank you for creating such a remarkable experience. I highly recommend Pendry to anyone seeking a truly exceptional stay in San Diego.
Greedy hotel
After staying out in Coronado or La Jolla on previous visits to San Diego, we decided to stay right in the city for this trip and selected the Pendry in preference to the Hyatt/Hilton/Marriott options. We booked a corner view room adding a specific request that we be allocated a room away from any noise sources. It was the noise, and the Pendry’s handling of it, that tainted our stay. At check-in there was mention we might encounter some noise on that side of the hotel. Sure enough as early as 6pm the noise from the street was cranking up and we called down with our concerns about being able to sleep. We were told all the corner view rooms were on that side. I reiterated our request for a quiet room and the fact we’d flagged it when booking. It became clear that the hotel should have advised us against a corner view room when we booked, so we could have selected a different room type (or hotel …) We began to feel we were being blamed for booking a corner view room! We were told the hotel was full and they couldn’t offer any other room, so we said we’d have to check out. Then we were told if we checked out we’d be liable for the full cost of our six night stay. A disagreement ensued as the hotel could and should have done more, both when we booked and at this point. Then we were offered the opportunity to see a suite which would cost us nearly double with no break on the extra, or a potentially quieter room for the following night, which we couldn’t see. We were not happy. We’ve visited 40 countries all over the world over many years and never been threatened with such draconian nonsense. Thankfully the staff member came after about ten minutes and took us to the equivalent room on the quieter side of the hotel, saying they’d done some checking and could move us straight away. We went with that option and the room had a vista of the bay across the rooftops which was nice. And it was quieter - we were woken up one night, but just that once. The rooms have a glass box containing the shower actually IN the bedroom. The glass does reflect light giving a feeling of space although the room is small and the bathroom is very tight. We’ve not encountered such cheap, thin toilet paper for years. The furnishings make no sense - an 8’ desk with a heavy almost immovable chair, yet nowhere for two to eat, e.g. for breakfast; a large rather tacky dresser housing a fridge full of revenue generating drink options with more on top. We never use a mini bar and would have preferred the space. The hotel has delusions of grandeur and charges accordingly. We weren’t impressed to be charged $5.50 a cup for basic brown liquid branded as coffee with our $80 breakfast, so had breakfast elsewhere the rest of our stay. In fact we made a point of dining elsewhere rather than patronizing the hotels offerings. On the last day we asked for a 1.5 hour extension on check-out and were told that could be done for $100. On escalating that, we were granted an hour free, but nickel and diming on the first AND last day isn’t good. The pool area is very cramped with far too many "Reserved" signs, which went unused for the entirety of our stay with guests squeezed on top of each other on the "allowed" sunbeds. With some exceptions, the staff are pretty up themselves - the culture in’t right and they seem trained to hide behind policy, rather than help, so we rarely felt like valued guests and the experience overall was disappointing. The exceptions are Devonte, who had to handle the ridiculous money-grabbing cancellation policy and did solve the room issue on day 1, Roman, Vito, Chris and all the delightful housekeeping crew - our thanks to them.
Disappointed
claustrophobic sized room with terrible view of a rooftop that was scattered with gross debris. Was told ( after spending over 500$ on the room ) i’d have to pay for an upgrade to move. Save your money book elsewhere. Definitely not worthy of 5 stars.
I had a hard time deciding if this should be a 3 or 4 star
I had a hard time deciding if this should be a 3 or 4 star review. It wasn't awful but just not quite deserving of a 4 for me. We came here on a surprise vacation from Pack Up & Go so we didn't choose this hotel. We had a double queen room on the 4th floor. The bell service was great when we arrived & our room was ready before the standard check in time. The front desk service was very nice & explained all of the amenities. Upon getting to our room, there was a long black hair in the top drawer of the nightstand but otherwise the room appeared clean. The hallway outside our room smelled strongly of marijuana for most/all of this first day we arrived. I get that it's California but there are signs posted that it's not allowed in the rooms. I would have appreciated a couple of bottles of (free) water but everything was additional cost in the mini bar. (Additionally, there is zero room in the mini fridge for anything of your own - ie any brunch leftovers). The hotel is right in the middle of the Gaslamp entertainment district but you'll know the bars don't close until 2am because you can hear them until then - along with people & sirens. I appreciated the ease of being able to cast to the tv in the room which allowed us to watch a couple of movies on our own. The shower is weird - see photo. I don't understand this design aesthetic at all. The only other places I've seen this are in the Novotels in Taipei and Bali. At least with them, though, the curtain is on the inside of the shower. At the Pendry, the curtain is on the outside of the shower - essentially giving the shower-er no control over their privacy. It goes all the way around the shower enclosure, it's just outside the shower itself. Very weird. The beds were also pretty firm - too firm for my liking. Overall, this is a nice hotel in a great location (with the caveat above) but I might look at some of the other options in the area the next time I'm here. If you do stay here, though, check out the Gaslamp Breakfast Co across the street, you won't be disappointed! (See my review there.)

Very high tech. Additional benefits if you book through Amex Plat Fine Hotels feature. All around nice experience, great views, nice pool/jacuzzi on third floor.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Pendry San Diego. Checkin was smooth and seamless with Flora. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds and all the amenities you might need are provided. We had a fabulous meal at Lionfish and Yesenia took good care of us. We had drinks at 5th & Rose and Jason created some of the best cocktails we've ever had! Top notch service all around and the location is perfect. Already looking forward to our next visit.

This is the worst hotel, hospitality, and management I've ever dealt with. They were unprofessional and rude. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. Do not stay here at the location in San Diego.
I stayed here once for a business conference at the San
I stayed here once for a business conference at the San Diego convention center. The location within gaslamp quarters, and the location to the convention center make this a fantastic place to stay for any downtown activity. There is plenty to do in this area, and it is all easily walkable. All parking is Valet, you pull up to the curb in front, while this is great for those who are not planning on needing, or using their vehicle during their stay, its not ideal for those that need to frequently access or need use of the vehicle. The staff were highly friendly, the check in painless. The room which I had was fantastic, very clean, comfortable bed, nice large shower with glass all around. I would 100% stay here again!
Best hotel in the Gaslamp district.
Came down here on a busy weekend for a party with some friends got stuck with the top corner floor unit
This is our second time coming to the pendry in San Diego
This is our second time coming to the pendry in San Diego and both times were amazing. Aside from the amazing views and being right on gaslamp quarter the staff was also very friendly from the very second you walk in. My son had a tournament on Saturday and while getting our car from valet, we met Rob (who works in Valet) and my son went on to tell him about his tournament and how excited he was for it . Later in the afternoon after the tournament we saw Rob again and he inquired how it all went and my son told him how we won first place. Long story short my son walked in to our room that night to a nice surprise. Gestures like this is why I will keep coming back to the pendry . Thank you
Had an amazing experience at the Pendry.
Amazing service from the moment I walked in (got a free welcome drink!). Room service is great and the food is hot and fresh. Would come again!

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerNewbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
