Fantastic for dinner! We came here for my friend's birthday dinner, having made a reservation well in advance (100% necessary). We ended up getting caught in traffic on the way up, but we called and the restaurant was able to accommodate our lateness. Once we arrived, we were seated at a large table near the back. The space was relatively small but in a cozy and classic way - pretty casual vibes. Our server Jake came over right away and we started off with some drinks - I got an Aperol Spritz (too heavy on the Aperol/light on the Prosecco, but I still enjoyed it) and my friends got the Tidy Tips (very tasty) and Birds Eye (didn't try this one). We also got some starters to share - the Acme Bread & Butter, Chicken Liver Mousse (fantastic), Gulf Prawns (great seasoning but not a whole lot of prawn to eat), Oysters (phenomenal, so fresh), and Roasted Cauliflower (also great, totally exceeded my expectations). After this, it was time for pasta! I don't know why they don't advertise it anywhere, but Pearl can sub gluten free pasta into any of their pasta dishes. However, it's not even on their menu so I only knew this from the Yelp reviews. I got the gluten free Radiatori and my friends got the Spinach-Ricotta Gnudi, Spaghetti, and Seared Scallops. All the entrees were phenomenal, and I absolutely loved my pasta dish. Portion sizes were also perfect - I finished the entire dish and didn't feel overly full afterwards. We also got Espresso Martinis to finish off the meal, which were pretty good but had a bit too much foam. Overall though, I would LOVE to return!

Remarkable Service! Great ambiance and remarkable food! We ordered the Chicken Liver Mousse toast, an excellent appetizer! Perfection! Then we had the Fried Brussel Sprouts. An excellent and interesting combination with roasted grapes and walnut purée. Of course we ordered the Acme bread...which was different from other restaurants' Acme bread...this one was curated for Pearl. We had the Handkerchief Pasta with white Bolognese Sauce...unique and luscious. Lastly we wanted the Seared Scallops but it was not available that night but instead was offered the Roast Pork Belly which turned out to be a great choice. It could have been a five star restaurant if it had a wider choice for the customers to choose. May consider coming back...

One of my favorite hidden gems in SF! The pasta are mouth-watering, service is attentive & friendly, and ambiance is casual romantic. We sat outside and they had plenty of heat warms to keep us toasty in February! Note: the max number of people they will seat is 4 ppl. Would highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyI took my partner to this place for our anniversary.
I read an new article about best Italian restaurants and it's one of the best places for pastas in the Bay Area. I would have told you more about the pasta if I had a chance to get to it. We worked through our appetizers (one of our appetizers never made it to us) and were ready for our pasta. We waited for 45 minutes, our appetite was so dead, I asked the waitress to just pack our food. I am not someone who judges the situation until I know what went down. So I asked our server if everything was ok and told her about our experience. She responded in an unapologetic tone, "I would have gotten your olives if you had reminded me". I said I wasn't sure if I want to come back to this place after the experience I was having and she responded- "that's your choice". I had never hear that before. By the end of our conversation I was an asshole and all the staff knew about it. The news spread like wildfire and got the stare from all the staff. When I paid the bill and did leave a tip even after the terrible experience, the staff members just grabbed the check and took off totally ignoring my "Thank you". Arrogant staff and the food wasn't great at all. The desserts were the worst of it all. $300 down the drain. I highly recommend NOT going to this place.
Be the first to ReplyLoved everything.
Flavors in the food was a work of art. Loved the ambiance of sitting under a heated lamp outside on a chilly evening. Loved the plating of the food. I loved the Brussel sprouts steak and spinach ricotta Gnudi ... would love to come back and try the cod
Be the first to ReplyMy rating is a solid 4.
5/5. The service was impeccable. I came with two toddlers and was seated immediately on a Friday afternoon. Our waitress was named Alice and she had great communication, was kind to my girls, and offered to get their food in first which helped immensely! I order the scallops and Brussel sprouts . The Brussel sprouts came out first and highly recommend! However the scallops took a very long time to come out and seared nicely however some were not cooked properly. And for that minus .5 stars. I will definitely be returning to try their cocktails, dessert and more menu items.

One of my favorite Mediterranean/Italian spots in SF, with consistently great service delicious plates, and creative cocktails. The menu changes with the regularly with only the freshest ingredients. I have yet to be disappointed. The space is causal, warm, cozy, spacious, and romantic all at once, along with a beautiful bar. They have an outdoor option, equipped with heating lamps.Plates this visit:-Wood oven gulf prawns - Fresh Gulf shrimp wood oven roasted to perfection in Diabla and served with Zhuhai crème fraiche.-Roasted cauliflower - Love the different textures and flavors in this dish, the smokiness of the cauliflower, smoothness of the of the black tahini hummus, and the crunch of the almonds-Seared scallops - So fresh and perfectly seared served with delicious butter beans, spinach ragout, maitake mushrooms and caper relish.-Spaghetti - Tossed with fresh Manila clams and delicious nasturtium, watercress and fermented Chile.-Radiatori - Prepared al dente in a delicious lamb merguez sugo, finished with fresh sheep feta and lemon oil.Thank you Chef and and service team.See y'all next time.

Loved the hustle and bustle of this joint, and the food was a pleasant nostalgic mix of homestyle and modern dining. Layout kinda made me think about being in one of my friend's grandma's house from the south.Ordered the oysters cuz they prepare them with a cute little red dot. I'm usually a purist, but these were fun. However, please be careful when you slurp. The spicy tang from the sauce may induce wheezing. Also got the wood fired prawns plated on top of a beautiful green sauce and cauliflower drizzled in some kind of pesto crumble. Both were fun but neither were amazing. For example, the prawns were charred to perfection but were the same kind you can buy from any higher end market in SF. I've never found real fresh shrimp/prawns in SF, so if you find them please let me know where and thanks!Drinks were fun. I got a glass of wine which I was disappointed with, and my partner appreciated them making her a mezcal margarita off menu.Only real complaint was slow service. I couldn't blame the servers, who were great. The restaurant was just understaffed. All in all good times. I might come back like every other year.

Even thought we were about 15mins late to our reservation, we still got seated right away when we arrived. They seated us in a cute booth. The restaurant is super cute inside and they have plants hanging by the windows. Every dish that we ordered was delicious and flavorful. My favorite dish is the Seared Ahi Tuna Crudo! Each dish serves about 2-3 people. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes! Bathroom situation: there's only one bathroom stall by the kitchen Fun fact: I was told it was a once a laundromat and they still have the same floors.

Very good food; pleasant outdoor eating-- so what's to complain about? IMHO $4 for a few slices of bread, $3 for a few ounces of iced tea with not even one refill and $8 for 2 small scoops of ice cream rubbed our senior group the wrong way. Just be aware.

I've only been here twice --- once for brunch and once for dinner but I can see why this place has a cult following. Both times there was a hopeful crowd outside the door. The people who hadn't gotten reservations but might get an early table. The food is absolute perfection. Pick anything and it will be spectacular. Make sure to start with a drink, even if you are having brunch. My favorite is wine --- sparkling (brunch, but ALWAYS appropriate) or still (love their reds). Not to miss are the cold, fresh local oysters. The roasted cauliflower with almonds and golden raisins was so flavorful. My friend and I each had the grilled hangar steak. It came with hen of woods mushrooms and the most delicious don't-talk-to-me-I'm-eating potatoes, super crispy and buttery. We ended with the chocolate creme caramel, which had cocoa nibs in it. That meal was incredible. Note: it was so lovely that we overstayed our welcome, which was a no-no. The management was very generous with us but at some point we did have to leave as others were patiently waiting. Until next time, Pearl...

Had this bookmarked for a while! I thought it was good but wouldn't make a special trip to come here (30 min drive for us). The crab pasta we had was our least favorite dish. Best was the crudo. Also had the Caesar (but too salty for me) and the trout. Drinks and service were good
Be the first to ReplyAmazing - great cocktails and fun atmosphere.
The cauliflower is a great app, then ordered the pasta and the steak - all amazing! Very popular place so make a rezzy or put your name and take a walk on lake street and they will text you when your table is ready.

The menu already sounded appealing, but amazingly enough, the food tasted even better than expected. Nothing we ordered was disappointing. For two, we had Acme bread and butter (I can never say no to Acme) and split the cauliflower appetizer. I had the crab gemelli for my main. We also shared the pear upside down cake for dessert. Every bite of food was delicious. I loved the crab gemelli- the pasta was cooked perfectly; the sauce was creamy but not heavy; there was a generous amount of sweet crab meat; and the herbs, thin slices of chilis, and breadcrumbs kept the dish interesting and had me going back for more. The spiced pear upside down cake with ginger ice cream was decadent. I loved the thick slice of cake drizzled with caramel sauce. The spices and the candied ginger made the dessert so comforting and warming. For me, the ginger ice cream didn't taste strongly of ginger. It actually leaned into savory notes, which was perfect for cutting the sweetness of the dessert. But the best bite of the night (and for me, probably of the year!) was the cauliflower. It just had my tastebuds singing! The herbaceousness from the chermoula, creaminess from the black hummus, crunch from the almonds, and the sweetness of the raisins. Chef's kisses.
Be the first to ReplyWe decided to dine at this lovely restaurant after a fun
We decided to dine at this lovely restaurant after a fun beach outing on my husband's birthday. Delicious & Creative menu options with seasonal items as well! Portion sizes were great to share & flavors were unique and on point! When we got here, the server told us that we had the table for only one hour because we made reservations on the same day. Anyway, we agreed and started placing our order. Cocktails were delicious & well presented! We could easily have three rounds of them! For appetizers we ordered the Roasted Cauliflower in Black Tahini Humus, topped with almond and raisins. THE BEST!! Even our kids LOVED it, who do not really care for Cauliflower otherwise! For mains we tried their Ricotta Cavatelli!! Yum!We were full but always have space for dessert! So, we ordered their Blueberry Crostana with Formage Blanc Lavender Ice Cream. SOOO GOOD! And the presentation was BOMB!The kids had the Banana Coconut Cream Pudding topped with Pecan Streusel! It was amazing! Next time we're here, we will definately try their Duck Leg Confit with Cous Cous!Roadside parking.Advance reservations recommended.Heated Patio dinning available although it still gets chilly.
Be the first to ReplyWow! Amazing food.
The broccoli could have been my favorite thing had the cavatelli not been chosen. The lamb and saffron made this dish unforgettable.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best meals I've had in SF in a long long time.
The combination of unique flavors, generous portion sizes, and seasonal menu items really sold it for me.We started with the steak tartare and the tuna crudo - both were excellent. Texture was fantastic, and the sauces topping both were a perfect pairing. For the main I got the crab gemelli, which had a perfect level of light spice from the sliced red chile peppers in it, and a generous helping of fresh, melt in your mouth dungeness crab.Since the appetizers and mains were so good, we went all in on desert and got three - the guava sorbet (incredibly balanced, not too sweet, a great palate cleanser), the chocolate tart (not too rich or sweet, great cream on top), and the spiced upside down cake (gingerbread esque and amazing). Will definitely be going back here - the pastas are so unique and well prepared, and everything else we had was as interesting and tasty.
