The senior-unfriendly charmless woman at reception doubled up as a bouncer, creating a blockade of negativity
I scanned their QR code outside and joined the virtual queue The place opens at 5pm but they weren't ready to let people in until about 5-10 The inside of the restaurant was empty when I gave my name to the woman at the door She said she couldn't see my name on her screen, because she only gave a cursory glance at it I could see my name and had to point it out to her. She reluctantly let me in and allocated me the worst seat in the corner facing the wall. I asked to be moved to a seat at the empty bar, She said that they only seat couples at the bar, what BS (They don't take reservations) Before I was served, I asked for the Manager and she had no problem with moving me to the Bar area. A little while later another single (young) diner was seated at the bar. This is a restaurant that is only for young people. OAP's and the Disabled, keep away.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Lunch Experience
I hadn't heard of Padella but, as passing, my daughter said it has an excellent reputation. We had a quick pasta lunch with a half litre of excellent Chianti. We sat by the kitchen and watched an efficient team work their magic, apparently, I think, headed by Haley or Kayleigh (sorry) - Aberdonian master who politley helped us with a couple of questions while not missing a beat of her work. All staff were friendly and efficient, food was great, wine was lovely, all 'round, couldn't have been better. Thanks all.

Very Tasty food - enjoyable lunch out with friends. Atmosphere nice and good service. Will definitely be coming again!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Italian Food
The food from a small menu was excellent, with the booking process very efficient. We loved the bruschetta with tomato, the pate and for the mains the crab tagliarini and the Dexter beef pappardelle as well as the ravioli. The atmosphere in this Borough Market restaurant was excellent with the service brilliant. This a brilliant Italian restaurant and we look forward to our return very soon.

Went here for lunch after visiting the Bubble Museum. Lovely pasta and great service. Kids loved the pici cacio. The crab pasta and Gorgonzola pasta dishes were great too. Will defo return :)

Excellent cuisine, made with high quality ingredients. Agile and impeccable service. I thank everyone for their attention and patience, as this trip is precisely about immersing ourselves in the language. I recommend the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyPadella for the win
Glad we made the effort to make this happen. It is right outside Borough Market. They do not take reservations so we arrived around 1115 for their 1130a opening and were seated within 5 min of opening. Homemade pasta was a hit with entire family. Ice cream and tiramisu were also fantastic. Prices reasonable.

Went for a quick lunch. Easy to queue via the QR code. Said 30 mins wait but as I was by myself it was only about 5 mins in the end. It was interesting to see pasta being prepared. Menu was short but lots of different flavours. I tried the stracci with Gorgonzola and sweet onion. It was filling and flavourful. Employees were friendly and all very efficient. I enjoyed the experience but probably wouldn’t rush back as the fast pace and stools were gone for 1 but I wouldn’t want to eat with friends.
Be the first to ReplyNot Disabled Friendly
Not disabled friendly, and difficult service. The virtual queue wasn’t working, and the staff then said they deactivated it for a bit. So we had got to the front of the queue at that point. They then told me to get into the virtual queue because they were starting it again and it was going to take 1 hour. I mentioned that people behind me managed to enter the restaurant and had arrived after, also struggled with the QR link. They did not seem accommodating, and said they were really busy. I would like to think that since they made a mess of the virtual queue, they could understand that my physically disabled friend had made an effort to wait long enough already. I suspect they didn’t want the hassle of the chair taking up restaurant space. Big shame, the food is always nice there, just maybe not the service

Pasta dishes were delish and the service was fantastic. The tables are turned around pretty quickly. The desserts weren’t my fave but overall, had a really good evening.
Be the first to ReplyA little disappointed!
We all had high expectations of Padella having heard about the London Bridge operation. We went to the Phipp Street one. From the start the staff were off hand. The crab pasta was over cooked for one person (not al dente). This was replaced but there was no apology. There was at most a desert spoon of crab in the sauce. There were no spoons on the table and at first a dirty one was produced with difficulty. Then finally a clean one was produced. Staff were very casual and there was little interaction. We asked for coffee but there was only espresso or macchiato. No cortado which was bizarre. Regretfully we left disappointed. Surely you could do better
Be the first to ReplyRude staff, terrible organisation
No virtual queue available. Don’t accept bookings. Staff very unhelpful and unapologetic, bordering on total arrogance. Food was cold and tasteless.

We managed to nab a table on a quiet weekday. There's not a lot of space (we were placed at the bar) but that's to be expected in London. The pasta was delicious and more filling that you'd expect based on portion size. My main disappointment was I was told there was no balsamic in the restaurant (which I'd requested for my bread) even though it was part of one of the starter dishes, which I thought was a bit odd. Would definitely return though.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the hype
The hospitality element…..the host was perfectly fine and actually ended up being our server for the majority of our time here. The other servers if I’m being polite, no manners, generally quite abrupt, even a simple question like “where is the toilet” is answered with attitude and borderline grunt. The food, it was okay, I had the crab, and to be honest, I had no flavour at all. Pasta it self was fine, chilli was non existent, no lime what so ever. £16 for a very bland pasta dish. My partner had the nduja pasta, it was better than mine but still not with the the price tag. The starters were dreadful, as far as presentation goes, pretty poor. Taste fine I suppose, but as a whole, I wouldn’t rush back. The fact you need to queue, staff as a whole are surly, and food underwhelming. I wouldn’t rush back. Your saving grace today was the blond lady, who I assume was the manageress. Sorry, but I really I did go here expecting more.
Be the first to ReplyHIGHLY RECOMMENDED ITALIAN IN LONDON BRIDGE
We entered the queue before the restaurant opened for lunch, and our table was ready 30 minutes later. Our server was really friendly and the service quick. Had the bruschetta, tagliarini, and stracci with the salted caramel & chocolate tart for dessert. The alcohol-free rosemary lemonade complimented the food’s flavors nicely. Everything was delicious, and we had a window seat with lots of natural lighting.
Be the first to ReplyThe queue is 100% worth it.
Highly recommended from so many friends, I was glad I finally ate here today. It’s pasta done right, and I will definitely be visiting again as I’m eager to try everything on the menu.
Be the first to ReplyQuick and perfect homemade pasta
It took a long virtual queue on a Saturday evening to get in Padella, but we were determined to have diner there based upon the reviews, even when we had to wait more than 90 minutes for two seats. We savoured the burrata with Le Ferre olive oil. The pappardelle with 8 hours Dexter beef shin ragu was absolutely delicious, the tagliarini with Dorset crab, chili and lemon was good but not that overwhelming. We had a small table in the cellar around 8.30pm so by then unfortunately the guests were more shouting than talking, the level of decibels in the small room was kind of the killjoy of the evening. The ground floor is less noisy but unfortunately when it’s busy you don’t have the luxury of choice. The challenge of a hype is that my expectations were too high. No doubt the Padella Team knows how to make good pasta dishes and the staff is attentive and efficient. But the whole experience of virtual queueing, the loudness and the speed-dinner atmosphere were not entirely the scene for a romantic tête-à-tête. I would come back just to enjoy the pasta at a quieter moment and with less waiting time. Because that’s why you’re really here for: enjoying a quick and perfect homemade pasta.
Be the first to ReplyNo longer affordable
I came here three year ago and love the concept of getting a number of affordable/cheap delicious pasta dishes, I'm sure the plates where around £7.00 this time round we shared a £9.00 starter which consisted of one small slice of bread with two slices of tomatoe we cut it in half and shared, tasty sure but probably not worth more than £4.00 then the pasta dishes had shot right up to around £13 so we had no choice but to only get one dish which was still a small portion for the calco de pepe. then we ordered a bottle of wine which again seemed a lot smaller as it was in their own bottle that was around £25 all an all for a pasta dish bread it came to almost £70 was hoping or a cheap eat good quality expericance, we also felt rushed they just want the most people in and out.

Very popular Italian restaurant. No booking so had to faff about to register etc to then get in the queue. Menu needs more explanation - OK with the types of pasta but beyond that not a clue. Wine is expensive for what it is - served either glass or caraf which in most restaurants is reasonably priced. Service was quick and staff pleasant. We were told we had an hour and a half - they even gave us a five minute warning! Didn't really understand that when there is no booking and they need the table for a reservation. Food portions were on the small side. Doubt we shall return.

Visited Padella with a friend after seeing it highly rated on tiktok. We were staying near the Tower Bridge so got the Tube over. We arrived prior to it opening so we waited for the QR code for the virtual queue and were in first! The service was very efficient. Myself and my friend shared the Stracci with Pesto Genovese (extremely tasty) and then we had two plates of the Pici cacio & Pepe (sort of like carbonara but noodles). It’s not at all what I expected but I enjoyed it all the same. One thing I would change: if the menu could show pictures of the dishes rather than me having to google.
Be the first to ReplyFriendly staff and great Pastas !
What a great place to eat very good pastas . Nice lunch on the terrace during a sunny Sunday. Very friendly staffs ( excepted the very unfriendly and stressed girl with the iPad at the entrance) . Marcus has been very friendly and professional. Well done !
Be the first to ReplyLove the pasta!
I went here twice in one visit as I just loved the pasta! It tastes fresh and the portions are very generous. My favourite was the Crab :) its a no frills restaurant so don't expect much ambiance but the service is quick and efficient. Ask for a table outside when booking. Tip: A queue forms early so download the 'Walk up' app to reserve a spot in the queue as soon as they open. Expect to be waiting at least an hour for a spot.
Be the first to ReplyHugely popular busy pasta bar near to London Bridge station & Borough Market
Padela don't accept bookings as it's a very small restaurant,. but if you are in the area, pop along and you can sign up by scanning the QR codes using their Walk-Up app on your smartphone as you can't phone. Fresh on-site pasta made and cooked for fast table service. A simple but fine menu, with a large downstairs eating area not obvious from the street.
Be the first to ReplyVery Good Food and Service
Consider this four-and-a-half stars: the two of us both enjoyed our meals quite a bit--the pasta was delicious and expertly cooked, the service was prompt and attentive, and the overall atmosphere lively and fun. We were in London for four nights, and this was far and away our favorite meal there!
