OyBar Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
Amazing food! Scallops are the best I've ever had.
Artichoke appetizer is unique and delicious. Love the burger and fried potatoes. The cheesecake for dessert was the perfect way to end the meal. My friends and I had the best time. Chef came to check how we were and he is so charming. A neighborhood gem!
The best kept secret in Studio City.
Warm atmosphere and service; creative drinks, great food and an overall awesome vibe.
Every single time I go here, it never disappoints.
Great food, service, atmosphere and drink selection is great. if you like horseradish, the New O/G burger is ridiculously tasty. There's a reason these guys have had write ups on them. You gotta try it.

Pickle Bento Box was something I didn't know I needed in my life. Fried artichoke was an onion blossom on steroids, the good kind that make you healthy. Let's not forget the drinks. Alex is a genius behind the bar! Best Old Fashioned ever and no hangover
Went to visit OyBar on a Friday night.
Had a great time experimenting with food and drinks. The entire staff were OUTSTANDING and treated me well. Sat at the bar where David and Alex were e exceptional at providing service. We had Smoked Salmon Yaki-Onigiri, baked potatoes, and spicy noodles which I highly recommend. Drinks were solid. I will definitely be coming back
It's so nice to see more bars and dining spots to try that
It's so nice to see more bars and dining spots to try that are creeping further north from Ventura Blvd! We found out about OyBar through a Nudge suggestion and decided to check it out for after dinner drinks. Got there around 9:15 PM after finding nearby street parking. We thought we'd just walk up to the bar and order a drink, but were asked to wait; the host/doorman was actively playing Tetris to fit in all the patrons present and he really wanted to give us seats to sit at at the bar, which was appreciated. We waited for ~20 min, and during our wait, one of the servers (maybe manager?) asked if we wanted to put in a drink order while waiting. By the time we got our drinks, we were still standing in the entrance alcove waiting for a spot to open up. We really wanted to be inside the bar to actually enjoy our drinks, so we asked if we could just stand at the bar. The doorman/host obliged, saying he just really wanted to get us seats so we didn't have to stand. Again, much appreciated! We found a bit of counter and ended up hanging for ~15 mins until a couple seats opened up. Once we were posted up, the cool ambience of the place took over. The inside of the was chill and not crowded. Felt like a hip crowd. The low ceilings made it feel intimate. The menu had a lot of Asian inspired flavors which I'm looking forward to trying next time we come through. Classic cocktails on the menu. Huge selection of liquor was behind the bar. The bartenders were super nice and really accommodating (shout out to Alex, David, and Drew!). No resos/first come, first served, so expect to wait if you're showing up for din.
Im a little late in my review, but I want to be sure to
Im a little late in my review, but I want to be sure to give this place 5 stars. My husband and I really enjoyed our first time at this neighborhood spot. We heard so much about their signature Oy burger we had to try it, it was pretty great. We also ordered the spicy noodz with shrimp and the smoked salmon onigiri. We topped it all off with dessert, which was a tiramisu. I'm not an alcohol drinker, but I did try their ginger beer, which was a bit spicy because of the ginger but good. The staff is amazing! We sat at the bar, and the bar crew are a fine running engine. Everyone is helping each other to get the job done. David and Alex were on top of their game and were very friendly and accommodating. David made some suggestions of what to try and did not disappoint. Chef Jeff even came out and mingled with his customers. Cool vibe, will definitely be back.
You walk into this bar and from looks alone it appears to
You walk into this bar and from looks alone it appears to just be your average bar but that all changes once you sit down and start ordering their food and cocktails. There you will discover incredible pairings, delightful flavors and some of the most yummy food to hit Studio City. Pair that with the staff who is beyond friendly, helpful and just darn nice! OyBar doesn't take reservations so at times there can be a wait, but trust it's worth the wait!
Just moved to studio city and had to check out oy bar.
It did not disappoint! Its walk in only, and when we arrived there was about a 45 min wait for our party of 4. They were very accommodating tho getting our drink orders while we waited outside under heat lamps! I stuck with beer, but it the cocktails look incredible. After about 40 mins they were able to sit us at the bar. But the vibes inside are immaculate. It's like a classy dive bar where the food SHINES. Everything we ate was incredible. The burger hits and that quesadilla I will certainly be back to have again. Our bartender was super cool and knowledgeable, he even let us all try this interesting digestive they have on tap! The only thing that was weird was the food runner/server who delivered our food was a clearly thrown and upset when our bartender accidentally put in a wrong order. Not that we cared! We were happy to wait for our final dish but that server really showed her cards with how angry she was with this confusion. Definitely wasn't a big deal to us but made us feel weird... Anyhoo, I can certainly see Oybar becoming my local favorite.
Wow! What a terrible place! I feel like this is a classic
Wow! What a terrible place! I feel like this is a classic 'Emperor has no clothes' experience. There is nothing redeeming about Oy Bar. Both the host and hostess were rude beyond even Beverly Hills standards. The owner/chef is ridiculously anti customer. Which may have been worth it had the food been amazing. Sadly no. Of the two orders of crispy potatoes, one was excellent; the other, meh. None of our meals were good. Maybe be was the worst!!! I actually came here specifically to get the Reuben quesadilla- it sounded amazing- what I got was an overcooked dry disk that tasted like it was cheese grilled over two pieces of cardboard. Trust me- you are hip and cool enough to be treated well and you deserve good food- take your amazingness and shine somewhere else!
We came around 6:30pm on a Friday hoping to beat the crowds
We came around 6:30pm on a Friday hoping to beat the crowds and thankfully we were able to get seated immediately, as this place gets busy! Important to note: they won't seat you unless your whole party is present. This is a dimly lit and romantic restaurant, but with the charm of a favorite local dive. The burgers were excellent (we got the Basic B and Oy Burger) and our server (Justin i believe) was so kind and attentive. My girlfriend accidentally dropped her drink and he got us another, on him. Definitely will be coming back!
This was, by far, the best new place I have tried in the LA
This was, by far, the best new place I have tried in the LA area in a very long time. We were a group of four and managed to try a lot of the items on the menu. The smoked salmon yaki onigiri was a decadent dense bite of a salmon roll. The Pickle bento box and the Wagyu pastrami quesadilla were tasty and fun. The New G/OG Burger, Spicy Noodle, Seared Scallops came with naan and Smoky Chicken Donburi (our favorite dish). Everything was so flavorful and beautifully plated. The service was seriously amazing. We definitely had to wait for a table for four of us at 6:30pm on Saturday. The servers make it easy taking drink orders while you wait. If you are a party of two, much easier to be seated (no reservations). Lots of parking in the back. We will return!
Some of the best service and food I have had in Los Angeles.
Very small location but great atmosphere
OyBar is killing it.
First of all, the mixology is next level - not what you expect from a place that literally looks like a scruffy mid-Atlantic dive bar. After we got some well-made (and very strong!) cocktails, we had to wait just a tiny bit for our table, but once we were ensconced, we decided to order virtually everything on the menu to share. The smoked salmon yaki-onigiri is just about the most delicious thing I've ever eaten. The hot wings and chicken karaaage are insane and my party gobbled them up. I'm a burger girl and this is by far the best burger I've had in LA in a long time. The crispy potatoes are heavenly, as was the incredible salad. Servers and host are efficient and friendly, but it's a popular place so go there expecting that like most restaurants, they're going to want to turn over your table after an hour and half or so if they're crowded...which they usually are, but that was fine with us as we headed back to the bar for a nice amaro. (The loo is a little funky I guess but I guess it's part of the charm lol) Can't wait to go back!
