My walking tour guide recommended this spot.
I was looking for a nicer dinner after a hot day exploring the Duro Valley and then port tasting. I came here and found a spot at the bar. It's a contemporary vibe. I ordered barnacles and seafood pasta. They also serve bread, butter, and a small ceviche, which they're open about taking away if not wanted. I've never had barnacles before and the server was seasoned enough to ask if it was the first time I've had them and proceeded to show me how to break them and eat it. The seafood pasta is sizable and includes plenty of seafood. Overall, it's a fine spot. Definitely make reservations if you're not solo.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience at Ostras & Coisas in the heart of Porto.
We heard this was a place to be for seafood lovers and we sure did get our fill. As soon as you walk in your greeted by the days catch on ice. A mountain of fresh eats awaits. It was our first stop of the night so we loaded up on everything we could starting with the stuffed crab. It came with a sampling of shrimp, prawns, clams, oysters yoi name it. Next came the seafood linguini. I honestly can't remember all the ingredients but it was jam packed with protein from the sea. Of course we washed it all down with white wine. We ended up getting seated upstairs. The walls were adorned with painting and odes to the sea. Very nice atmosphere.

We were looking for a dinner spot with fresh seafood and Ostras y Cosas has pretty good reviews. It was a Wednesday at around 7:40 and we didn't have reservations, so the 6 of us sat around the bar. It wasn't too bad since we were able to sit 3 on one corner and 3 on the other, which made it easier to share plates. We ordered: -Portuguese Raw Oyster - these were great. They are โฌ2.50/piece so it's slightly cheaper than NYC. However, if you order the 6 pieces, it's โฌ13.50 so it's a pretty good deal -Crab Pate - I would skip this one. I think it was just imitation crab with lots of mayo. The toast it came with was probably better than the 'pate' -Scallops - I believe these were broiled, which was nice because it added flavor to it -Mussels "Provencal" - these were okay but I'm not a huge fan of mussels -Seabass - this tasted fresh and not fishy at all but look out for the tiny bones We also wanted to try the barnacles but they ran out for the day. I would say everything was okay. Nothing was bad but nothing was amazing that would make me come back or recommend it to someone.

This is an excellent fresh seafood restaurant managed by Joana who reigns supreme in this marvel carven of Alibaba for fresh oysters, mixed seafood King Crab Platter and much more. The place is on the pricey side for Porto but for good reasons. The Portuguese oysters were really fresh and very savory. Also enjoyed their grilled shrimps plate and dorado cooked to perfection. The King Crab Platter was absolutely divine with a an original Portuguese feeling based on bread and mayo. The service is really attentive, and very helpful in their wine recommendations and good suggestions. The Grifo Douro Reserva was very close to a French Sancerre wine but for one third of the price! A light fresh wine with a blended taste of apple, citrus and pear- Absolutely delightful! The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed you can sit at the bar and have a talk with the next table. I strongly recommend what many locals call a Seafood Paradise! Note my garlic grilled oysters were underwhelming and undercooked, spoke to the manager and she addressed this immediately! Send me four new ones that were cooked to perfection! So don't hesitate to speak up. Joana listens!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent fresh seafood in a small yet cozy restaurant.
We had the fish soup which was a mild broth filled with clams, squid and pieces of fish. Next, we had razor clams. Delicious! Then raw Oysters, also delicious. Sardines were perfection. Delicious desserts and coffee finished our meal Excellent staff

Very fresh seafood with great oysters, fish of day, sardines and some interesting other seafood sides. Very casual but make reservations to sit up stairs! Keep in mind that once they sell out of some fish it is gone so don't book too late in evening
Be the first to Replywe were told of this place by our tour guide.
my daughter was hesitant, but was happy with the outcome. we had the mix crab plater, the seafood linguine, and the tuna bread, which turned out to be a tuna sandwich. everything was amazing. we weren't sure what to get, but our waitress helped us and gave us some awesome food and wine recommendations that we all enjoyed. this place is fresh and delicious. if you are looking for amazing sea food, come here!!

A country with 1,793km of coastline(according to the World Factbook) in the North Atlantic must have great seafood, right? You'd be right! Will you find it in Ostras & Coisas? We're not so sure. After a half hour wait, we were seated in a contemporary dining room with lots of natural light from the surrounding glass windows. After quickly deciding on the items, we were disappointed that the Tempura Squid and Small Fried Sardine Lemon were sold out.Fortunately, what greeted us was an ample amount of garlic bread and three types of spread that kept us held over until the oysters arrived. For a restaurant with Ostras(Oysters) in it's name, it was underwhelming. Not as sweet as we thought. The sauce for the Ameijoa "Bulhao" Pato was so good that we used it as a dip for the garlic bread. The Linguini do Mar was serviceable.Along with a glass of Graham's 10 years, the total was 75.50 euros. Note: there was a two euro cover charge per individual. Overall, we recommend Ostras & Coisas for any seafood lover visiting Porto, but maybe ask about what's available on the menu first.

Fish soup was cold and watery not much of taste, sardines tasted bad and old, shrimps were too salty, overall, the service was cold and not much of help!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was really good.
But something we ate gave us food poisoning and incapacitated us for 2 days. Some meals are worth food poisoning but this isn't one of them

Ordered The highlights:- scallop - the most impressive dish during dinner is an appetizer. Flavor is very balanced and flavor of scallop was not obscured by any of the sauces- tiger prawns Mozambique style - very flavorful but a tad saltyThe other dishes:- raw oysters: I've lived in boston and have eaten at a lot of oyster bars. I'm not impressed with the oysters here. They only provided lemon and no other sauces which I infer means the taste of the oyster itself should impress. Unfortunately that is not the case as they came out tasting super fishy and the lemon did nothing to hide the taste. The oysters didn't seem the freshest either and was a bit small.- grilled oysters with garlic butter: the oysters were small and came in piping hot. This dish tasted better because of the butter but the oyster taste was lacking- seafood rice: I would say it's a bit bland and no memorable taste. The mussels were a tad fishy and the rice was so so. They did have some razor clams though which was the highlight of the dish.- creme brulee: the cream was really good! The top sugar part was burnt but overall enjoyable!

Great service. Slightly pricier relative to most restaurants in Porto but totally worth it

Made a reservation here for two and I'm so glad we did! It was such a good find by my friend. We passed it on the street and made reservations for the next day.The staff was really nice and the decor was light and airy with great natural lighting. The food was incredible and we got to try some new seafood we had never tried before. The seafood was fresh and delicious. I started with some kind of seafood bisque and my friend got oysters. We shared the platter of sorts with king crab, crab pate, barnacles, and prawns/shrimps. Definitely get the platter with king crab - it's a little more expensive but so worth it.I highly recommend this place to everyone!

This place was amazing! It was recommended by a wine shop owner in the area. There was only one table dining at the time we arrived. But my chef boyfriend was impressed with how the fish looked (they were offering things we hadn't even em considered on a menu... a Blue mouth fish, scorpion fish, and even barnacles!) While I'm pretty familiar with wines, they had an extensive menu that our server Sergio helped me navigate through and gave us tastings to make sure we were sure of what we wanted. I can't recommend this place enough fir fresh seafood... and Sergio will take good care of you! Amazing food and amazing service!

We were able to seat even though we hadn't made a reservation, which was very kind of them, putting together a place and making us feel welcome.Good atmosphere, great staff. Definitely recommend the oysters and scallop.

Great place! My sister and I came here on our first night to Porto. It's a former tailor shop (the Versace of its time, serving kings and dignitaries. 1920s). Get the platters! So fresh! We got the mixed crab and we're not disappointed. First time having barnacles and they were great. The shrimp is so dang flavorful! We got the tiger shrimp and calamari as a starter and loved it. Their wine selection is great and at an amazing price. Our servers were very nice (showed me how to eat said barnacles) and knowledgeable. We're here for 4 days and just might have to go back! If you're going to have one nice meal, make it here!
Be the first to ReplyThe atmosphere was modern trendy classy but casual.
The food was top notch, fresh and prepared to perfection. We ordered the "hot seafood" platter. What a treat with scallops, shrimp, prawns and lobster. Our waiter paired our dish with a nice bottle of white (Portugal's version of Pinot Gregio) and we had a feast!! Highly recommend, but make reservations.
