Osteria Savio Volpe Vancouver Reviews from The Last Year
An fantastic place for freshly made authentic Italian
An fantastic place for freshly made authentic Italian food Pros - phenomenal selection of freshly homemade Italian pasta. The agnolotti was fantastic. Their focaccia bread was also so fluff and deliciously seasoned. Very friendly service. Beautiful interior with modern contemporary style. Cons - none! A great place for an authentic Italian dinner.

April 2024 update: very sadly and unfortunately downgrading savio volpe to 3 stars. I made a reservation for 5 people and opted for the tasting menu for my brothers birthday celebration. The server was impeccable but the actual food and timeliness was questionable. Evening started great. Sparkling water and a bottle of red wine to start. 7:09pm, we get a beautiful plate of charcuterie, a deep fried pork appetizer and two bowls of kale salad promptly. Not bad and pretty good. Kale salad was a little bland - just tasted like salt but it was fine for salad. That's when our experience soured. We waited ONE HOUR for the next round of food to arrive. This, to me, is unacceptable. We were starving and our server could only keep refilling our water ... 8:11pm rolls around. We get risotto and two bowls of pasta. Portions were quite small for 5 people and we waited an HOUR. The long swirly pasta dish with capers was just so mediocre and bland. The tagliatelle, however, was the star. The redeeming part of our dinner... Now we wait again. 30 more minutes. Finally, main main entree at 8:40pm. Finally, steak, chicken, potatoes, broccolini. These all tasted good by the way, but at this point we were just miffed by the late timing. And at last, dessert. We just wanted to leave at this point. 9:25pm, tiramisu and cannoli. Tasted great by the way. Loved the airiness and flavors. Overall... I don't think I would do the tasting menu again. Quite disappointed. I would only order the tagliatelle and broccolini and call it an evening.
An excellent Italian cucina with a distinctly BC twist.
Ended up at Osteria Savio Volpe because we couldn’t find another restaurant…. great luck! They fitted us, unbooked, into an already busy restaurant at 17:00 and we had a superb meal. The service and ambiance were excellent but the food was outstanding. We shared an anti pasto and beet salad to start and both had the tagliatelle with a pork ragu to follow. All magnificent… the homemade mortadella was really good but to pick out one item does a disservice to the rest of the meal which was consistently fine. A lovely evening…
I had high expectations due to the raving reviews I read
I had high expectations due to the raving reviews I read but my actual experience fell short. There was nothing terrible but overall things felt a bit off. I made a reservation for two in the dining room at 5pm and the confirmation mentioned that cancelling from 1pm onwards on the day I reserved would incur a fee of CAD$25 per person. Well, I did show up and they opened their door slightly after 5pm. It was nice that they have a coat room. There were many service crew members. Some I liked more than others but overall the vibes I got were a tad self-important and aloof. The kale salad was tasty and plentiful. I appreciate that the saffron pasta was freshly made with a rich sauce. For the price point though, I expected either bigger or more shrimps. This place is not a must visit in my view but feel free to try for yourself.
Service was excellent.
Haven't been here since they first opened. It was very busy for a Wednesday night. The saffron linguini was outstanding . The flavours were so amazing. Haven't had such a good pasta in a long time. Could have had another pasta dish. The kingfish crudo was a very small portion for the price. The pork belly was good but not as tender as expected. Overall a great meal . I think their pastas are outstanding. Would stick to those. The service was top notch.
Great food
It can be hard to get a reservation for a table at prime time, so late dinner at the bar it is. We had their daily pasta special, beet salad, steak and brocollini. It was all super delicious.
Great food and service.
Had the broccolini, arancini, pork belly, and canestri. Our server, Ryan, was fantastic. Only complaint is that the canestri dish was too salty for our taste.
Very nice ambiance and the food was excellent just like we
Very nice ambiance and the food was excellent just like we remembered from last time. The server was funny and personable which made the experience more fun. I highly recommend this place!!
At least at Olive Garden they say Thank You!!
This restaurant takes its glowing reviews and its customers for granted. We were two, with a reservation and sat at the bar because “quirky” apparently means tiny and uncomfortable for tables. Pushy staff turned inattentive and unapologetically rude who couldn’t even be bothered to ask how the meal was (fatty, tasteless pork belly and mom’s bowl of pasta…assuming mom cooked it yesterday and warmed it in the microwave) and then didn’t even thank us for coming and spending too much for food that makes Olive Garden look authentic.

Amazing food and service can be found at Savio Volpe! The pasta was absolutely divine but the star of the show was the pork belly dish that came with scallops. The pork belly and scallops were cooked to perfection and the apple sauce it came with paired with it wonderfully. Highly recommend!
Expensive for what you get.
Not a huge menu. But that said the food was good. Essentially the cannolis.
Best restaurant in all of Vancouver.
Quality food without the typical pretentiousness of other high end restaurants.
Securing reservation in here require some dedication for
Securing reservation in here require some dedication for sure, however it was worth it for the pasta alone. We got 4 items, plus a nice Sangiovese to share. Their menu changes seasonally so I won't be covering each dishes. I would say that the highlights are definitely the pasta and cheese based items. Also, kudos for their wine list, some of the best I've seen in Vancouver (particularly for Italian based ones ofc). Prices came out to over $100/pax. Things we ordered: 1. Whipped ricotta crostini, concord grapes, caramelised honey, pine nuts, focaccia ($24) 2. Tortelli di Zucca, parmigiano reggiano, pumpkin seeds, brown butter ($32) 3. Tagliatelle alla bolognese, parmiggiano reggiano, Volpi olive oil ($34) 4. Cannoli ($20) Place was casual with pretty packed tables and loud conversations happening. Imo there's not enough distance between the tables. Atmosphere was therefore a bit too noisy imo but could be personal preference. Service was on point and the server gave good recommendation based on your preference without being pushy.
Great food and atmosphere, quirky in a good way
While the details are somewhat blurry due to the pre-dinner cocktails, I do remember that the waiter looked exactly like a young William Gibson (who was also from Vancouver) and the food was great and different from other restaurants, but in a good way. It was busy, and apparently not easy to get a reservation (my cool friend snagged us one) but the vibe is very laid back somehow. Plus, the restaurant’s name means Wise Fox, what’s not to like?
An excellent choice. Food is delicious and very fresh.
An absolute great dining experience! Service was attentive and fast. We tried seven different dishes and they were all delicious and so very creative (without being pretentious). I wish we had a place like this in Montreal!
Left disappointed and hungry
I will preface my review by saying that my fiancée and I have eaten at some amazing restaurants (think Le Bernardin, Saison, Atomix, Acquerello, St. Lawrence, Annalena, Sushi Jin, Miku, Singlethread, Fanny Bay Oyster Bar, Masayoshi, the Botanist, etc). We came across Savio Volpe on instagram a few weeks ago and we’re impressed by the look of the pasta dishes, the amount of followers, and the 4.6 average review on Google. We decided to try them for the first time last night. Immediate impression: There are way too many tables crammed into the space. This really takes away from the ambiance and attentiveness servers should have towards each customer (timeliness for ordering, clearing old plates, filling water). It was quite loud. I immediately thought this isn’t the place for couples/date night. That being said, our server was polite. We were torn between the a la carte menu or ordering the set ‘let us cook for you’ (set menu) for $79. We asked our server what she would recommend. Without hesitation she advised to try the set tasting menu, suggesting that the majority of the tables were ordering the same. We are adventurous with food but appreciated the server confirming our tastes/preferences (are you okay with beef tongue, olives, raw fish, etc). I was looking forward to trying some very unique dishes. Drink menu: Very spirit heavy cocktails - mainly negronis or gin. Personally I didn’t immediately see any cocktail I would typically enjoy. It would be nice to have more common drink options (French 75, limoncello…) something lighter/fruity. The wine list was good. Olives were the first small dish we were given. Average to poor. The majority of the olives were not even ripe to eat. We did not finish them. Second dish (watermelon salad) was pretty but a little odd. I didn’t care for the combination of flavours. I felt like we were eating a filler dish so we stopped; wanting to save room for the ‘good stuff’ we came to try (pasta). The portion size was too large. The next dish was beef tongue and it was good. Looking back this was the only dish I didn’t mind. It’s actually very light (despite to what you might think). Next dish was pasta pearls (I believe?) and mussels. On first bite the flavours were just okay. I maybe had 3-4 bites and quickly realized how acidic the dish was. At this point I was starving and quickly realized we may have made a mistake opting for the tasting menu. The mussels were slightly fishy. After a few bites we stopped eating it. Our server noticed and asked for feedback which we provided. She ensured us she would bring another option for us. Next dish was the striploin. On first appearance it looked great. We were extremely hungry at this point so I immediately cut into the steak. On the first cut, then taste, our mood immediately dropped and we knew we should have gone elsewhere for dinner. The steak (which the server confirmed would be cooked medium rare) was over cooked on one side. My piece was extremely tough to chew. My fiancées steak was cooked slightly better (with some fat on it which made it palatable), but overall we knew we could have cooked a better steak at home. The side dish (grilled broccolini) served was just that - grilled broccolini. No salt, no butter, no flavour. It was also poorly cooked and difficult to cut. We did not eat it. The knifes either need to be sharpened or replaced. I ate the portion of my steak that wasn’t over cooked simply out of hunger. By the time we ‘finished’ this plate the alternative for the pasta/mussel dish came (the Cappelletti). We learned it was a favourite of another server who we spoke to after our experience. We were very disappointed at this point but decided to give it a try (as it looked presentable). On first bite, I knew it was the last chance we was giving this menu. We felt defeated with Savio Volpe as a whole. The noodles were similar to udon noodles which did not make sense. It was starchy with very basic flavours, at best. To be completely and utterly honest: the first thing I said to my fiancée was it this tasted like a child made it. At this point we asked for our table to be cleared and the bill. We did not stay for the remaining dishes or dessert. Another server asked for feedback and my fiancée provided some, but to be honest we just wanted to leave. They dropped a few things off the bill; however, we still left paying $300 (albeit we ordered a $130 bottle of wine). We left hungry and disappointed. The quality was simply not there and felt like it was a waste of our money. Another observation we made, is that many of the tables had unfinished plates (set menu and a la carte). So it makes me think that our poor experience wasn’t based on choosing the set menu. I have no idea if it was a bad night or not. I’m very confused as to why this restaurant has so many glowing reviews. If you’re looking for a new experience and want to go with a set menu, spend $30 dollars more and go to CONSISTENTLY amazing places like St.Lawrence or Annalena for their set tasting menus. Or anywhere else, for that matter. There is a plethora of restaurants you can try that are cheaper and better quality that what we were served last night. The only thing we truly enjoyed was the wine. There would have to be some serious changes for us to even consider returning.
Everything was outstanding
We were staying in Downtown Vancouver so we had to venture off the beaten path for Savio Volpe. We were so delight that we took the time to head to Chef Andrea Alridge's restaurant. Service provided by Simon was super. He made great recommendations to help us though the menu that was filled with exceptional dishes. We loved everything we order including the focaccia bread, prosciutto diparma, and two pasta dishes. This is a restaurant worth returning to on a regular basis, unfortunately we live in San Francisco.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
