One of our nephews highly recommended Orenchi Ramen for a family dinner out. This was our visit, we had 6 adults and a 2-year old on a Tuesday evening. Our nephew explained that the restaurant hours vary by day, it's good to check ahead when they open as often the wait times can be up to 2 hours before getting seated.
We arrived around 5:30pm and discovered that they opened at 6:00pm on this night. There is an iPad in the reception area, be sure to add your name to the wait list. The server will call your party to be seated (make sure everyone is present). On another note, we were told that the restaurant will close as soon as they run out of soup which they do after each day due to so many customers.
Our nephew helped us to order. We tried the Orenchi Ramen, Shoyu Ramen, fried garlic, french fries and chicken karaage. I thought that my Orenchi ramen was too salty and the egg a little runny. My nephew reassured me that this is how it should taste as he has traveled to Japan and had ramen overseas. The family members who tried the Shoyu ramen said their ramen was even saltier than the one I tried.
Our nephew did a good job of setting the proper expectations with everyone in our group before we went out to try Orenchi Ramen. We arrived rather early to avoid a very long wait time. Our nephew also mentioned that it would be frowned upon to sit and chat long after we were done with our meal (as is typical in our family when we all go out as a group especially when having Italian or Mexican meals). This is because there are other customers waiting for a table, so we should "eat and go" shortly afterwards. The restaurant got rather crowded very quickly and many people arrived right before they officially opened.
If you come as a "large group" be prepared to have only one check and the server will automatically add an 18% service charge. It's not a "cheap" place to eat but the food was good with rather large portion sizes. Many in our group had the asahi and sake so that added to the final tab which was close to $200.00 Overall, everyone in our group was happy with their meal. My husband and I would definitely return to Orenchi Ramen.
