The food here is delicious, every time I have come here, I have ordered something new and have not been disappointed. The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff are very nice! Usually you can't go wrong with the daily specials.

We had so looked forward to trying this restaurant because it received a Michelin Bib award in the past.. There was no ambience in the tent , no flower on the table , candle etc. The waiter was arrogant and the food just ok and not well presented. I felt we received an Olive Garden experience but at an extravagant price . So disappointed . There are much better restaurants in Laguna Beach - I would avoid this avoid this one unfortunately .

Im not sure why this place has such high reviews or got what seems to be a Michelin recognition in 2021, but it's mediocre and not worth the price. We ordered the port chop, lamp chop, and tagliatelle portofino. The portion sizes were big, but the food itself was very mediocre. The pork chop was downright bad - it had a very strong pork/pig smell that I do not even know how to describe. The tagliatelle portofino was recommended to be by the waiter, but it's really nothing special. I even doubt whether the pasta was made by hand (which it should be for an Italian restaurant of this (supposed) caliber and price point). I asked the waiter and he said yes it's handmade - ok, but then I'll say it's nothing different from the store-bought dried pasta. There's no chewiness or that Al dente feel in the dough. And pasta dish overall, again, is ok but really a let down considering the supposed Michelin recognition and all the good reviews and the price point. The lamp chop was ok, but considering the mediocrity of the other dishes, I would not return. Overall, a mediocre and disappointing place. Do not recommend.

Hands down the best Italian in LB! We ordered the the Ravioli and paradelle with bolognese - full of flavor. Pasta is made in house & truly al dente. Dessert is never complete at an Italian place without pana cotta and this one doesn't disappoint. Highly recommend.

The food was exquisite, the drinks and wine selection divine, and the service impeccable. We started with drinks - a Negroni and a dirty martini, both were executed perfectly. We then had the fried squash blossoms in the eggplant parmigiana for appetizers. They were show stoppers! The pasta course was cooked al dente and sauced perfectly, and the pollo Milanese was fried to perfection. We closed the meal with a mouth watering chocolate mousse. The servers were attentive and charming and transported us to Italia. The ambiance was unpretentious and inviting. We'll be back again soon!

I had the cacio pepe and I'm not a big pepper person but that dish was fantastic! The bread is freshly made and safe if you have a nut allergy. The service was very very friendly and accommodating. They knew just what to pair with all of our food for the wines. Truly some authentic Italians in there and the spectacular food is the result. I can't wait to go back and try more pastas and the tiramisu!

Was shocked to find out this place had a Michelin Star! Went here Jan 5th for the first time. People said it was the best Italian in OC. Maybe we have high standards for Italian as we just moved from NYC, but the food didn't have flavor! They first served us flavorless bread that was a sad attempt of what I think was focaccia served with a sad looking bruschetta that looked like the oil set on top. You can tell a lot about a restaurant by the bread, sets the mood for the entire experience. The cocktails were fine. The best thing we got was the calamari and the spicy marinara saved it! Wish they served it with the bread. (We ended up dipping the bread in the spicy marinara) we got a seafood special ravioli special and the lamb rack. Can't go wrong with lamb. It was fine. Everything was just missing something. I wouldn't go back for the price.
Be the first to ReplyI wanted to love this restaurant - mostly good reviews.
My main complaint was our server, Allessio. He gave us the feeling that we were bothering him, he seemed annoyed and somewhat arrogant. The food was good... we ordered the Calamari and Shrimp to start. The plate came, ONE shrimp. I asked the waiter about it and he said he'd bring more. He brought us two more and pretty much dumped them on the plate and walked away. When he brought our main course, I said "Thank You".. he did not respond and walked away. He brought us dessert menus at the end and dropped them on the table and walked away again. We ordered one dessert - I asked him if they had Port Dessert wines. He said yes, let me bring. The port was nice, but it was literally one ounce and when the bill came, it was $25. I think if the waiter is going to either suggest or pick something for a customer they should let them know the price. For two, our bill was $300 (we had one glass of wine each). Overall, I would have likely given this place 4-5 stars, but with the service as it was, dropped it to 2 (almost one). This one a miss... we went next store to McClain and sat at the bar and had a night cap while we waited for our Uber. Bartender there? Very nice.
Be the first to ReplyHighly recommend for a special occasion.
It's amazing but expensive.I believe that it's worth every penny but for me personally it will be reserved for special occasions. The service is outstanding and the food is undeniably amazing 10/10

As an Italian, who's been to Italy and takes pride in perfecting Michelin quality dishes at home, with all sincerity, Oliver's Osteria is the only SoCal restaurant, I will dine at. I'm a fan of everything they do at Oliver's. The owner and Master Chef, Erik, is passionate about bringing the best of Italy to Laguna Beach. Oliver's is the real deal, molto buono!
Be the first to ReplyBest Italian food! Makes the real stuff.
Top ingredients. Amazing people. Loved the pasta. Fresh fish. 10/10 recommend. Great location
Be the first to ReplyFabulous as always.
We also live in SF and have dined all over Italy so trust me when I say that Chef Erik is a fantastic, authentic Italian chef. Service is impeccable - we always feel like family. Shout out to Giovanni ("Gio") who makes us feel so special. We've never had anything but an exceptional experience here.

Disappointing We used to think this was a hidden gem of Italian food. Hard ti find around here. But it had changed. The lasagna had literally no flavor, so plain it reminded me of food you get in a hospital. The other pasta was over cooked, salty, etc. I do appreciate their attempt to try and change my order but this the second time we have been there after some time and it was the same issue. Plain, bland and overcooked pasta.
Be the first to ReplyWe dined at this restaurant many times and felt the place
We dined at this restaurant many times and felt the place offered great high quality Italian food with professional service. Unfortunately, our recent experience was poor and our opinions have changed. Our main course took extremely long to arrive (veal) and when it did the portion was tiny and way over cooked. I likely would have sent it back, but the waiter never came around and we also needed to wrap up the night. The manager also seemed very disengaged with what was occurring as meals were delayed for all patrons. Now you could have chalked it up to a bad night, but in reading other reviews this was not a one off thing it appears. Hopefully ownership deals with the problem promptly or as tourists season slows locals won't be coming back to fill in the void.

On a recent Friday evening we had tickets for a show at the Laguna Playhouse. We chose Oliver's to have dinner before because it is walking distance to the venue. Since Covid Oliver's has opened a large tented area in the parking lot so that's where specified our reservation. All nice and good and since our reservation was so early the restaurant was not crowded and the hostess seated the six of us easily. By the time we left the place was rocking. All of the staff did their part to professionally serve us. All of the food, except for one desert item, was enjoyed by us all. The prices were $$$ but the servings were generous. We had the stuffed meatballs appetizer, which we loved, and started off with a bottle of red. For our main course among us we had the Lasagna (2), Scallops, Spaghetti Bolognese and the special Sea Bass. (2). Not one dud. Deserts included Crème Brûlée (2) and the Tiramisu (that's the one that was kind of weird). It was a wonderful meal that was enjoyed by us all. We finished in time to walk over to playhouse to enjoy the performance. A great start to the evening. I would heartily recommend Oliver's Osteria.
Be the first to ReplyOur servers were not attentive.
Didn't get drinks for 30 minutes and it was just a glass of wine. Food was bland and didn't have much flavor. Also, felt like they just poured sauce on pasta and called it a day. There were a few pieces of shaved asparagus. We left hungry and most expensive meal I have ever paid for in Orange County just to sit in a tent (when we had a reservation) barely able to hear my date's voice. The appetizers were nice and wine was good, but it wasn't enough to tempt us to revisit.

Amazzzzing food and service by Sergio! Came here for our anniversary and this place did not disappoint! If you're a truffle fan, go for the truffle ravioli. By far one of our favorite dishes we've ever had, anywhere! The Brunello by the glass was delicious as well. Thank you! We will be back soon.
Be the first to ReplyOur food was exquisite, and the service was excellent.
The Strozzapreti Alla Norcina followed by the espresso martini was perfect. If available, try to find a spot at the bar to enjoy your meal!

Igor and Marco were so friendly and helpful. They made the occasion incredible. The food and service was excellent. Always enjoy going to Oliver's.
Be the first to ReplyWent here after a friend had a wonderful experience.
Although the service was impeccable I can't say this is an exceptional Italian restaurant. The food was honestly subpar. Maybe the chef had a bad night? We'll try it again in a few months to see if things have improved.
Be the first to ReplyHeard great things about this place and decided to try
Heard great things about this place and decided to try while we were in the area and hungry. They open at 4:00 but the specials weren't known until 4:30-5:00 - not sure why when you open at 4:00. For appetizers we had the meatballs, eggplant and octopus. The meatballs were lukewarm and I thought a bit undercooked while the eggplant was mostly cheese. For entrees, given we were some of the first people there for dinner, the meals should have been a lot warmer than we experienced. My daughter tried the ravioli which she enjoyed. Her boyfriend tried the lasagna and thought Olive Garden was better. My wife had a pasta dish that she enjoyed while I had the Branzino. My dish arrived last - much later than everyone else's. I was disappointed that it wasn't hot considering how late it arrived. Desserts were okay and coffee was very hot. For the price, I was disappointed and there are many other places to eat where the meals are better.
Be the first to ReplyBad customer service and bad portion ratio to their food.
..One of the big hype about this place was the main chef used to work at one of the finest restaurants in the world... That experience clearly stopped with him because The place and employees didn't really represent anything resembling the finest... Began by calling a week and a half early to reserve date of dinner and I was asked call back to make the reservation because the hostess was too overwhelmed with seating people. This was to celebrate a birthday dinner and I didn't want to get upset over having to call back to make the reservation since I was assured that it wasn't gonna be busy for the evening of celebration. Then after making a reservation there was no contact from the restaurant to confirm the reservation. I ended up calling the day of a few hours before the dinner to make sure the reservation is set And that there would be no surprises I was also going to make a special request if a nice table could be Reserve. I received a voicemail at 6 o'clock which was strange but the voicemail didn't say that they will call me back. Unfortunately they never called me back. When I got my lobster spaghetti about a third through it I was spinning some pots onto my floor and I noticed something stuck out a long piece of hair... Yuck I immediately told the server about it and all she could simply say was oh I'm so sorry that's probably my hair. Acting like it was no big deal. Then it took a while for them to remake my dish it just made the experience very disappointing!
