Nowhere better in Lancashire
Wonderful family meal with Grandma for an early Mums day, birthday for Dad & new job celebrations for Mum. Wonderful menu, 2 of us did 2 starters & main with cheese, 2 did starter, main & dessert. We all had the paired wine flight which went perfectly. Amazing staff in the lovely bar & restaurant who looked after us all brilliantly.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday Getaway
Booked 5 course dinner, bed and breakfast package for my Birthday. When arrived at noon for lunch. We ate from the standard menu for lunch. We opted for the specials which included bone marrow covered steak. Staff very attentive and nothing too much trouble. We paired our 3 course with the suggested accompanying wine pairing. After lunch we checked into our room. The room was very spacious, with fresh milk in the fridge, still/sparking water and a wide variety of tea and coffee. For dinner we decided to do the wine flight. We looked all the wine just as much as the food. I really liked the pigeon and scallop courses. Again, the service was very good. For breakfast we had a full English. Will be returning.
Be the first to ReplyA nice place for a festive break.
We stayed for a Festive Christmas 3 day break arriving 24th and departing 27th Dec 2023. Hotel was full which led to a general happy festive vibe around the place. Staff were welcoming and friendly throughout. Most of the promised offerings on the festive break advertisement were delivered (although sometimes needed prompting, one such thing was the after Boxing Day mulled wine and mince pies) but nothing major was not delivered which would lessen the overall enjoyment of this break. There are a good variety of seasonal returners and newbies, and it is very convivial.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent 5* hotel , dining & 5* service
Just returned from a fabulous 2 nights stay here which was superb . Room 12 was excellent in every way and from check in to check out ALL the staff were so impressive and made our stay such a joy . Nothing is to much trouble and everyone was so kind polite friendly and professional throughout . Thanks to Jenna , Neve ร2 , Mia , Joy , Zoe , Iona & George who dealt with us the most . Dinner as you would expect is superb , special mention for the " clementine desert " and the lancashire cheese bread just hit the right spot - wonderful . Breakfast was superb , must try is the lancashire cheese souflet , but everything is superb , eggs benedict its a great selection . Staying at Northcote is a special joy and highly highly recommended many thanks to ALL the team including the hidden figures behind the scenes that make everything work so brilliantly .
Be the first to ReplyWonderful as always!
Having visited Northcote previously, our second visit to Northcote during Obsession 24 certainly wasn't a disappointment! The reception staff were very accommodating, kindly arranging for us to stay in the same room we had previously. The room was fabulous! Comfy, spacious, the room has everything we needed during our stay. The balcony overlooking the gardens was lovely, albeit wasn't used as much this time round due it being a little cold! The food was just fantastic! Every course was wonderful and expertly paid with fabulous wines. A fantastic evening was had with the waiting staff, along with Craig, doing a fabulous job - nothing was too much trouble! Breakfast was also great too! A great selection! Certainly would recommend Northcote! We can't wait to come again! Thanks to the team for another fabulous stay!
Be the first to ReplyGreat day of learning in fun atmosphere
French Pastry day at Cookery school - loved it! Lovely breakfast and lunch included, learned great tips and venue was perfect. Well worth the money, I've booked another one already! Caters for all skill levels, and the maximum group size is 8 so everyone gets personal attention from the two teaching chefs. Loved every minute, makes a great gift.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday experience for family, from seniors down to juniors.
Excellent service from checking in at reception to the service provided by housekeeping. Nothing was too much trouble. service and food in the bar area was first class as was breakfast food and service. Restaurant was outstanding, dining at chefs table was amazing, both for adults and grandchildren. All want to return. In addition couldn't fault anything in the bedrooms.
Be the first to ReplyGlorious Gourmet Break
Never disappoints. From arrival all staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed pre dinner cocktails ๐ธ in the lounge bar before being treated to the seasonal gourmet menu with matching wine flight. The meal was a delight on the tastebuds with the wine complimenting each dish beautifully. Service throughout was attentive but not rushed and dinner was enjoyed at a leisurely pace. We couldnโt choose a favourite dish although always love โค๏ธ the scallop dish! After a restful nights sleep we woke to a glorious crisp day enjoying a tasty breakfast in the restaurant before departure. Til next time
Be the first to ReplyNew Yearโs Eve house party
The most fabulous New Yearโs Eve ever . We arrived at 1.30pm and enjoyed a couple of cocktails and a light lunch in the bar area before checking into our suite. The room was beautifully appointed with a walk in shower, roll top bath and double sink, with fluffy robes and luxury toiletries. The suite had 2 lovely comfy armchairs in which to enjoy a cup of tea and home made biscuits. A balcony is a nice feature for warmer weather. Dinner that night was a black tie affair and it felt special to dress up knowing everyone else would be too. We were greeted and shown to a quiet area of the lounge and offered a glass of Champagne, delicious canapรฉs followed and more champagne. Dinner was called at 7.30pm. We chose the recommended wine flight for each course. An excellent 5 course dinner followed. Each course beautifully cooked and presented. Everything was delicious and worthy of the Michelin star rating. One of our party wanted the main course Aged Lake District beef cooked well done ( sorry about this Lisa!). This was done without any fuss which shows how โ the customer is kingโ philosophy is alive and well here! The table magicians very great and keep us entertained between courses. I still donโt know how they did some of those tricks! After the amazing dinner we returned to the lounge where there was some Low key entertainment to listen to whilst we enjoyed further drinks. New year was welcomed with another glass of champagne as the Sounds of Big Ben rang out. Haggis, neeps and tatties were served shortly after and were flavoursome and a nice touch. We didnโt want the evening to end and were the last guests to leave (sorry Mr B). We retired to our suite and enjoyed a very peaceful and comfortable sleep Next day after a stroll around the garden and an invigorating shower, we enjoyed a full cooked breakfast which as expected delicious, generous and filling We left with heavy hearts as such a great New Yearโs Eve had been celebrated. To console ourselves, we have already booked again for this new year
Be the first to ReplyOUTSTANDING!!!!
Fantastic, surroundings, staff, food was amazing!!!! Very relaxed and comfortable, been to a few Mitchelin starred restaurants, this is Number 1 for us. We will be definitely back!! Good choice on food and all courses were faultless.
Be the first to ReplyThe most outstanding short break of my life
I had a three night holiday with my partner at this superb hotel, incorporating a Michelin starred restaurant, earlier this month. We have stayed at some fabulous properties all around the world over the years but this has got to be the best weโve ever been to, for accommodation, food and quality of staff. From our arrival and check in until departure, we were treated as if we were the most special guests that had ever visited. Nothing was too much trouble at any time, whatever we needed. Our room was described as a de luxe bedroom but in any other hotel this would have been at least a junior suite. Comfortable and spacious with a large luxurious bathroom. There was a fridge with cold proper milk and home made ginger biscuits replaced daily. We dined in the Michelin starred restaurant on two evenings savouring the outstanding creations of executive chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen. Without exception this was the best quality food we have ever tasted. Just outstanding. On one day I took part in a Cookery School day and having done similar courses many times elsewhere, this had to be the best Iโve experienced. Rich and Ben were superb tutors giving the best food science instruction Iโve had anywhere. And the food I cooked both during the course and completed at home a few days later was sumptuous. The staff throughout were friendly, helpful, dedicated and professional, without being in any way diffident or superior. We really did feel we were at a home from home. It would be impossible to name any staff individually, they were all superb. This really is a quite outstanding establishment and it will certainly be somewhere we shall return to again.

My Wife wanted to visit Northcote for a long time so it was a no brainier to treat her to a 5 course gourmet break. On arrival the hotel looks the business and oozes quality. From the moment we walked through the door the welcome was so friendly. We were taken to our room, and again, first impressions were excellent. Attention to detail in every aspect of the room made it feel luxurious. We went to dinner and visited the bar. The service again was first class and better than a five star London equivalent as the staff had personality and were attentive. The dining room was impressive, again a lot of attention to detail. The staff again were clearly top of their gameโฆ.soon our gourmet experience begun. The food was excellent, and the menu was impressive. The waiting team explained every dish which added to the overall impact. Beyond impressed with the food. Breakfast the next day was just as good both in terms of the food served and the staff serving. Nothing was ever too much trouble. It took us 4 hours to get there but would definitely come again and have already recommended it to our friends. Perfect weekend and start to my wifeโs 50th birthday celebrations. Thank you so much. For anyone reading the review, yes it may appear on paper a lot of money but when you break it down and experience the quality and execution, Iโm certain you will see it as an experience and the making of quality memories. Thank you Team Northcote.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful gourmet break !
We had an amazing gourmet evening and overnight stay here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The dinner was fantastic. The room was lovely and very spacious and breakfast was great. The staff are really helpful and very personable and certainly made us feel really comfortable and settled. I would thoroughly recommend this as a place to visit. My only disappointment is we live too far away to visit more often. Please visit, you wonโt be disappointed!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing experience
We did the one night Gourmet Getaway, having wanted to go for several years. I must say the experience liver up to expectations. The room was clean and spacious with excellent facilities and the food and drink was second to none. We had a slight issue when we checked out which the Reception Manager Rachel Crook picked up on and sorted immediately. Other companies could certainly learn a great deal about customer service from the example set by Northcote. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyA memorable anniversary
Once again we enjoyed a wonderful time at Northcote, this time for our Ruby Wedding anniversary. We were joined by our Son and my Sister who had not been before and they both said they had been " blown away "by the whole experience. As usual the food was superb, the rooms luxurious and the staff exceptional. We will obviously be returning later this year
Be the first to ReplyWonderful overnight stay with outstanding food and service
We stayed at Northcote for a birthday meal and overnight stay Such personal and attentive service with wonderful food and wine. Nothing was too much trouble and the taster menu was described in great detail so we understood the concept and ingredients of each dish Our rooms were just fantastic with great views over the gardens. They were luxuriously appointed and slightly away from the main building which was very peaceful
Be the first to ReplyExceptional experience for anyone with coeliac disease
Northcote Manor was everything you would expect knowing it's reputation. There were lots of thoughtful touches like the turn down gift for our friend celebrating her birthday. However, it was the food that makes Northcote stand out amongst elite hotels we have stayed in. Lisa and her kitchen brigade catered so well in providing gluten free options for my coeliac disease. No effort was spared to ensure I did not miss out on any of the amazing flavours and textures. I was offered no fewer than three varieties of bread, all delicious but the Lancashire cheese topped rolls were a highlight! Each and every staff member greeted us with genuine warmth, their local knowledge and friendly service is to be commended.
Be the first to ReplyRelaxing Break with excellent food
Fantastic service and food and lovely room - staff are excellent great attention to detail - the seasonal tasting menu was sublime fully explained in the bar before entering the dining area - particularly liked the turbot course but all courses were excellent - great choice on the cheeseboard which is optional to the taster menu
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievable in every way!!
stayed at Northcote on Feb 10th with my husband, and it was an amazing experience from the moment we arrived. All the staff were excellent and could not have done enough for us, from the perfectly chilled drinks in the bar to the 10/10 food in the restaurant it was an experience we wont forget! with each individual room being totally unique we can not wait to visit again. The morning after we had the best breakfast, I wouldn't have changed anything about the service or the food! we were the in the perfect location for a lovely country walk. The best hotel we have visited in England 100% for the service, food, atmosphere and beautiful rooms!
Be the first to ReplyCulinary delights in sumptuous surroundings!
We were lucky enough to win one of the Obsession 23 tables and had a fantastic evening at Northcote. Guest chefs were Valentine Warner and Neil Borthwick, who we met by chance in the lounge bar after our lovely walk in the surrounding hills. They were very approachable, and it was a very relaxing atmosphere enhanced by a couple of Bowland beers served by our friendly waitress Niamh. Our room was lovely, with a nice bath and an outside patio, which would be perfect in a summers day. My only slight niggle was that it was slightly noisy due to the adjacent stairs. Onto our dining experience, which started with champagne and canapรฉs in the lounge bar, and continued with some amazing dishes accompanied by wine pairings. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable and helpful, as were the team serving our delightful 5 course meal. The evening soon passed, leaving both of us satisfied (and full), with just enough room for a cocktail and a coffee in the lounge. A perfect end to a perfect evening! Thanks to Lisa and the team for orchestrating the food and to our guest chefs for showcasing their own food. Also thanks to all the staff for making our stay such a pleasant one. We hope to be back soon....

We visited the amazing restaurant for Friday lunch - enjoying the gourmet lunch and wine flight
The lunch was truly fantastic with the semelier Liam excellently walking us through each course
That was only part of the experience with Johnny and the team looking after us throughout with nothing being too much trouble
A real 5 star experience and we canโt wait to go back
Keep up the great work and see you soon

Outstanding, luxury at its best
This was our first visit to Northcote hotel although it did come highly recommended. Our two-night experience started mid-afternoon with a nice glass of red wine, sitting in the sun, on the patio. We couldnโt believe the weather for late March! Our room (Room 14) was huge and nicely decorated. On the first night, we had the five-course taster menu which was wonderful. The food was superb and the presentation outstanding. On the second night, we opted for the A La Carte menu which similarly couldnโt be faulted. If we stayed again we would ask for a table in the conservatory area where there is less through traffic when the staff were serving. Pleasant bar area to sit in for pre or after dinner drinks or any other time of the day, to be honest!! A big thank you to George for making an excellent dry vodka martini The breakfast was table service only which is standard following the covid issues. Again the food was amazing and the choice plentiful. The staff couldnโt have been more helpful and courteous and nothing was too much trouble. We didnโt know the area at all but the hotel had produced a pamphlet giving directions for the short drive, 45 miles, around the immediate area. This proved to be very useful. All in all an excellent stay and one we would certainly recommend.

Be the first to ReplyIf you ever want to feel like Royalty . . .
We have stayed at Northcote Manor a few times but our recent visit was the best by far. We had been supposed to visit early February but Covid hit us. The hotel was kind enough to rebook without fuss given it was such a difficult time. We were really looking forward to our visit this time!
On this stay we were lucky enough to secure one of the suite rooms. It was a sumptuous size and enough to get one's step intake from the distance from the bed to the bathroom alone. Talking of which. What an amazing bath room! A free standing bath and wet-room/walk in walk out shower with his and hers sinks. As always the bathroom was equipped with temple spa shampoos, body washes etc. A glorious bath robe for the use of and being a suite room (I am guessing) complimentary slippers.
The main bedroom housed the biggest comfiest bed and a whopping great TV. Sadly, it was raining so we were unable to use our little garden, all to ourselves. We enjoyed as always, a little walk round the main veg garden, though not much happening yet.
The food. If you have never eaten Northcote food it is an absolute must. Such artisty on the plate and explosions of flavour. They have currently started their Spring menu. The asparagus was delicious and the presentation of the scallop (in my case hake, due to allergies) was divine. Talking of which, the main course was duck, but as not our favourite meat we did ask if it could be switched for something else. We were presented with the most GORGEOUS melt in the mouth beef (we were lucky with it being a Sunday and the lunch service earlier in the day I think, but always worth asking). By the time we reached the 'apple pie' we were full to bursting. With just a couple of divine chocolates to take on board we retired to bed to muster our energy for the breakfast!
And what a breakfast!! That comes in courses too! Fruit juice then first course of something 'healthy' we went for the full fat Greek yogurt, fruit, homemade granola and a topping of maple syrup. Onto the full gut busting fry up though there is a multitude of choices. Smoked salmon with crambled egg, Eggs benedict, cheese souffle, avocado with sweet chili and eggs etc. Lots of choice! Then onto the sourdough toast (or others of your choice). Talking of which, this appears throught the meal with the gorgeous cheesy bread also.
Anyway, I think you can tell, we had a good stay. We would highly recommend Northcote for the food, the attentive staff, the accomodation . . . I haven't yet mentioned the coffee machines and tea and buscuits.
Oh well, I think you have the idea. Fabulous!!
What a treat!
From the moment we arrived it was delight after delight. A beautiful building, warm welcome from the reception team and a fabulous room for the evening (made even better by the surprise bottle of champagne waiting on ice thanks to the husband planning ahead). Lovely cocktail choice before dinner and then the food - every course carefully explained by the super waiting staff. Loved the beef taco nibble pre-dinner, scallops, duck & apple pie all a pure taste sensation. Tried the sweetbreads, not for me but thatโs just personal choice. Other diners we talked to loved them. Brilliantly delivered wine flight by the stand in sommelier & an absolutely fabulous & fun bartender who helped with our choice of cocktails after dinner. After all of that breakfast - what a treat! A truly memorable experience thanks to the whole team who worked on 3/4 โค๏ธโค๏ธ
