If you love Eng Bee Tin, then you will love Mr. Ubr
This is the same family company but they also sell meals. And their meals are just as good as their ube.
Yang Chow Fried Rice delicious; Sweet n Sour Fish scrumptious; Chop Suey delightful and best of all the Ube Shao Pao was the best Shao Pao i have ever eaten. I am now addicted to Ube Shao Pao. I loved it!
My Favorite!
When affordability and delicious Chinese food meets! Make sure to eat here if you go to binondo area they have 3 stores in binondo! Prices are vey reasonable also don’t forget to drop by at eng bee tin to buy many pasalubong.

The place to go if you want to taste authentic chinese menu within your budget. Its a typical chinese resto with minimal decor but the food is savory. Rice toppings are served noodles soup is best. Try their beef brisket, ampalaya con carne and pancit bihon.

It's a small restaurant with uncomfortable chairs. they don't even serve free water.if you need water you should get up and pour water from the corner for yourself :/ ...for ordering food I asked their opinion and ordered two meals.none of them were delicious.

It is one of the may Eng Bee Tin outlets on Ongpin Street. But you will enjoy it. Do visit the other establishments of the group - Great Buddha Cafe and the Eng Bee Tin Store on the ground floor.

The name and color drew us in! It's a very popular resto in the Binondo area so be prepared for lots of people especially during lunch. If you're starving, skip this place as you need to wait most of the time.
But waiting has its rewards. The rice toppings are filling and affordable, but we love their stir fry noodles the best! The beef and seafood are very good, but you can also try fish and their special Mr. Ube stir fry noodles.
We also ordered their fried chicken - but it was too oily for our taste. Better stick to the Chinese dishes as these are their specialty.
Staples like siopao, hakaw, siomai, etc. are all good but not the best around. Their ube pao though is interesting. There are so many other dishes we did not have the chance to try so maybe we'll drop by again soon.
The resto is small and at the time of our visit the AC was not functioning well. Service is cheerful but can be sometimes slow. But the fact that you can also shop at Eng Bee Tin (next door) will more than make up for it.
The company that owns Mr. Ube and Eng Bee Tin donates a portion of its profits for the betterment of the Binondo community. Another reason to patronize this resto!
Black Gulaman Jelly Cold Drinks
Went with big family for lunch last Lent and was surprised to be seated in aircon area at the back part of the resto this despite the long queue by the cashier.
Ordered spareribs, fresh tasting pork dumplings ladened with crispy spicy greens inside- got some hakao too but its thick covers instantly fills the tummy. Slurping follows with cold cold bottled black gulaman, it’s cubed blacks jellies settled down my glass completes a well deserved meal after a serious via crucis in Binondo Church. Could have ordered their well advertised halo halo but will surely try them in our next visit. Service staff were fast and efficient. Well recommend for fast Chinese food experience.
Decent food near St. Luke's hospital (sorry, they don't have a QC branch option here on TA)
Ok, I know this is the Ongpin branch but I couldn't find the QC branch on TA so here goes... Family members of ours were confined at St. Luke's QC. This area is really out of the way for us so it wasn't like we could go home to eat, we had to just put up with whatever was near the hospital (mostly fastfood joints). Mr. Ube was a pleasant option and we were happy it was there. Nothing fancy, menu was pretty limited but hey, it was a clean place near the hospital and they didn't serve just burgers. Food was tasty (and supposedly has no MSG) though a bit oily. Prices were very reasonable as servings were big. It's not a full service joint so I can't really rate the service that much. You do have some staff members clearing away trays and cleaning tables but you do everything else. There's one cashier and she handles all the people who come in for meals and those who buy food from the fridge and freezer but she kept the line moving quickly. The bathroom was surprisingly decent too. Limited parking but very convenient if you're just walking over from the hospital. We actually bought several meals from there over the course of three days. We also visited Max's and Hap Chang but those places have lots of branches so it was nice to try something different. Again, this place is not exactly fancy or fantastic, it's basically half a step up from a regular fast-food place but it's good for what it is. I'm giving the place a 4 considering it's very good for the type of restaurant it is but please don't expect anything extraordinary. If there were a Mr. Ube near my office, I'd probably eat there once a week.
Be the first to ReplyGood lunch outlet in Binondo
A good place to have lunch in the Binondo area near the Binondo church. Food choices are just right. I had the salted egg chicken , though a bit oily , it was well seasoned , the wintermelon tea was a good drink to have with the food. I will go back to try the other food options.

I got here to buy hopia by Eng Bee Tin and decided to try their food as well. Majority on menu are noodles, varieties from other countries (laksa, mami, ramen etc.) so I chose ramen. Looking at the picture my expectations are low but still have to eat it to judge it. The noodles are soft, I prefer firm, soup is lacking in flavor, chasu (pork) is chewy and dry, the egg is hard-boiled and not the 6-minute kind and very small amount of green onions.
The location is more suitable for adventurous types, no parking and reachable by walking. The place has ample space for tables, but I guess they never get filled up even at peak times. I could tell the place is somewhat new but it's not that tidy, the floor is dirty and so many clutter at the counter/cashier. When my order was served, my drink was not included, I have to call him back and he looks at my receipt to confirm. The same thing happened to a customer next to me only this time he is already done with his meal. The ambiance is like a local eatery (turo-turo) considering there are tourist and well off customers coming in, the market Mr. Ube targets, I believe. Maybe if the service crew could be more lively and make the customers feel more welcomed but no greetings or thank you's whatsoever.
I guess foodies have to try it nevertheless and have the courage (I don't) to share your thoughts. A suggestion box or survey sheet is easier for me.
